But that may change.

With days left, the house guests

are faced with the ultimate temptation, a suitcase

filled with cold, hard cash.

Will anyone take the money to walk out right now?

And if that happens, meet the new houseguest

who will move in tonight.

[squeals] I'm opinionated, and that's sometimes

misconstrued as being a b*tch.

Will she get the chance to shake things up?

Hi, I'm Julie Chen.

Would you leave the "Big Brother" house

for a suitcase full of money?

That's the decision the houseguests

will face tonight, as we head into the final month

of the show.

In just a few moments, we'll offer $,

to one of the houseguests if he or she

will pack up and leave tonight.

But that's not all.

The rules say, if someone takes the money and runs,

a new houseguest will step in and join

the "Big Brother" family.

Let's begin by getting to know the woman

who will take that step if someone decides to leave.

Her name is Beth.

I think my strongest personality

trait is my determination.

You know I'm going to beat you, right?

I don't like to lose.

[laughs] I'm opinionated, and that's sometimes

misconstrued as being a b*tch.

My boyfriend and I are very tight.

He knows I'm a very goal-oriented person.

If I see something I want, I tend to run for it.

We're both very competitive people.

So we like to race each other and play

against each other and just anything

where it raises our competitive fierceness.

Oh, that truck.

Beth is very competitive.

Anything she goes after that she wants,

she goes after very strongly.

[squeals]

As far as my sister and I, we're peas and carrots.

Most siblings fight, and we don't do that.

We very rarely disagree on things.

I think Beth's biggest challenge is

going to be living with other She

can also be a bit melodramatic.

She can be a drama queen.

Things can tend to get a little bit hairy when things

aren't always perfect for her.

It's going to be as Beth's life always has been.

It's going to be a soap opera, I think.

The person I will have the most trouble with

will be Jamie.

I've never gotten along with girls like that.

Of the people in the house, she is the most surface.

I'm not the type of person to be able to hold my opinion in.

And my opinion of her right now is not very good.

I think that, actually, I might get along with Eddie

the best at this point.

He's got the most realistic view, I think, in the house

right now.

[raspberry]

Time alone is essential to me.

And being with six other people or five other people

or four other people or even two other people

could drive me crazy.

It really could.

You'll probably either love me or hate me.

[chuckles]

JULIE: Well, we should explain to the audience

that you were one of the finalists,

but you didn't make it into the "Big Brother" house.

So when the show started, I'm sure you

watched it, imagining what it would be like living in there.

If you do go in tonight, what do you expect?

I'm not really sure what to expect.

It's basically /.

Either the houseguests are going to greet me with open arms.

Or they're going to completely shun me.

And I guess we'll see, you know, when I get in there.

JULIE: Why do you want to go in?

At this point, it's got to be for the money, in all honesty.

I just graduated from college, and money

is a key factor in my life.

JULIE: I like your honesty, Beth.

Well, stick around 'cause we'll have

to see what's going to happen.

But it's important for me to remind you

that if you do go in the house tonight

and you go on to win the grand prize,

we prorate it based on how many days you spend in there.

So the top amount of money you can win is about $,.

You're cool with that.

Anything would help right now.

JULIE: And it's also important to remember that you only

go in tonight if one of the houseguests

decides to take what we offer them and leave tonight.

So stay right there, and we'll see what happens.

Now before we make the offer, let's

share the first of this week's Red Room nominations

as we hear from Cassandra, Josh, and Curtis.

I nominate Eddie.

And I nominate George.

I have tried very hard not to be a strategist

or too much of a gamesman here.

Yeah, you know, I'm not an idiot.

I definitely think that there is a game element to here.

On the other hand, though, I mean, it's a weird game,

because we're all living here, creating our little society,

our family and all of that.

The idea that you use people to either save yourself or try

to throw people up to be nominated

to try to say to yourself is really distasteful.

So I try not to do that.

And I think I don't do that.

I'm nominating Curtis, and I'm nominating Cassandra.

And the reason I'm nominating both of them

is because I feel that, out of everyone in here,

they're the most secure when it comes to leaving this place.

They're the most well-equipped to leave at this point,

I think.

I'm nominating Eddie.

I love him to death.

And I think he's great in the house.

But I'm using the criteria of who's contributing

to chores this week.

And Eddie's been sleeping a lot lately.

And he's not doing a lot in terms of contributing.

And the other one I'm going to nominate is Jamie.

I suspect nobody else is going to nominate her.

But it's the same criteria.

I'm physically tired, 'cause there's so much to do here now.

And I need people to chip in.

And that's kind of the criteria that I'm using now, so--

We are prepared for anything you could

JULIE: We are your friends here.

Curtis, I see you holding a sign.

You want to take a few seconds? - Can I?

That'd be great.

JULIE: Yeah.

I'm really sorry I can't be there with you.

When I finally do get out of here, hopefully in, you know,

days, I'll be there to celebrate.

I want you to know I'm doing fine.

I'm having a lot of fun.

And despite the appearance, I'm not crazy yet.

who is willing to pack up and leave tonight.

But before we offer any money, let's

look at the final Red Room nominations

from George, Jamie, and Eddie.

I nominate Curtis and Cassandra.

I can't think of reasons why.

But I'll tell you why I'm not nominating other people.

I'm not going to nominate George,

because regardless of what he says, he does need the money.

I'm not going to nominate Josh, because I have befriended him.

Will not nominate Jamie.

She's too sweet and nice.

I mean, strategically, the best nominations

would be Cassandra and George.

But, you know at this point, I not about strategy.

I'm not about, you know, looking to get certain people.

You know, I'm not out to avenge anything.

You know, I don't know.

Did you bring your dice?

No, uh-uh.

I told the guy earlier this week I've made a decision.

What's that?

Well, to-- I mean, I've have nominated

based on reasons this time.

I nominate Cassandra, and I nominate Eddie.

It's the only division that I see

left in the group of six of us.

And that's that at night, it's usually four people.

It's usually myself, George, Curtis,

and Josh that are always up, just kind of

laughing and cracking jokes.

Eddie is usually, you know, in his room

by himself, doing something.

And then Cassandra kind of does that as well, you know.

The group of four are just trying

to make an effort to make this experience the best

it can be for each other.

George is going to nominate Joshua and Curtis.

The reason why I'm doing this is the house

has to have women in it.

There are certain things that men--

that we don't understand.

It's not for the cooking, the cleaning,

or anything else like this.

Women have a different perspective a lot of the times

than men do.

A house is not complete without a woman.

And the women are getting mighty thin in here.

If I could nominate myself and do that, I would.

But I can't, and I won't nominate Eddie.

So them was my only two choices that I did have to work

with was them two there.

JULIE: All right, houseguests, we just showed the last

of the Red Room nominations.

Now we know you've been getting warnings

from beyond the compound, from someone with a megaphone,

about this challenge tonight.

But believe me, that person does not know all the facts.

We've placed something on the chair in the Red Room,

so if you'll please stand up, go into the Red Room retrieve it,

and bring it out to the others.

JULIE: Because you got the plant on your head.

forward and open the suitcase?

OK, Julie, here goes the Chicken Man.

JULIE: Houseguests, that is $,.

And it will belong to one of you but only if one of you

agrees to leave the "Big Brother" house tonight.

Now again, only one person can take it and leave.

So think about what your chances are of actually

winning "Big Brother."

And keep in mind, this is an absolute sure thing.

And if no one takes it, three of you

will eventually be banished and win nothing at all.

In fact, Cassandra, Curtis, and Eddie,

if no one takes this challenge, one of you

will leave next week empty-handed.

JULIE: All right, Josh, please put that suitcase down

on the table in front of Eddie.

Yeah.

JULIE: Go ahead and open it.

[opens case]

Holy smoke.

JULIE: All right, now that suitcase has $,.

--exactly, George.

JULIE: You're very logical.

I mean, you all thought it out.

Oh, absolutely.

I know.

The time here is sort of priceless.

And, you know what, I came in with nothing.

So if I leave with nothing, I'll have good memories and stuff.

JULIE: Cassandra?

Definite no for me as well.

JULIE: Really?

So I think somebody's definitely

insane for not taking what would have been third place.

Yeah, seriously, I think--

Well, now with some thoughts about what we just saw

is Dr. Drew Pinsky, our health and relationship specialist.

Hi, Dr. Drew.

Julie.

- All right. - Interesting night.

I know.

All six house guests just turned down $, in cash.

Fascinating. JULIE: They're smelling it.

They're touching it. - [chuckles]

JULIE: Are you surprised?

I'm actually not surprised.

There's a very powerful group dynamic going on here.

It's interesting, Beth pointed out,

it seems crazy to us outside the house.

But you've got to remember, these guys

have been confined with no one other

than themselves to influence one another.

And a very powerful dynamic has evolved

where it's sort of being considered not

noble to look at cash as the ultimate goal in this endeavor

they're in.

JULIE: Now earlier in the week, we gave

them a hypothetical situation.

We said, if you would all stay in the house to the end,

and you would be guaranteed to split

the grand prize between the six of you, would you guys do it?

Everyone said they would, except for Eddie.

Do you think Eddie was the only one who was being honest?

I'm not sure that it's honesty so much as the fact

that Eddie can kind of stay outside

of some of these group forces.

It's very tightly knit right now.

And Eddie has always been sort of the individual.

He's always been clearly focused on winning.

And even he-- I'll tell you--

to maintain group homeostasis, started to backpedal.

If you remember what was aired a couple of nights ago,

he started making a valid point but really not an honest point

about how it was unfair to the people that had been banished.

His issue is he wants to win.

That's the bottom line for Eddie.

He's made no bones about that.

No, and he's a very-- and he's managed to maintain

that individual point of view.

But he is under the influence of the group, no doubt.

JULIE: Yeah. Yeah, we just saw that.

We just saw that. - Absolutely.

Now earlier in the show, in past episodes,

we've seen both Cassandra and Jamie say they would both love

to see a woman win this, because no woman has won "Big

Brother" in other countries.

Yet, in the Red Room nominations,

they both nominated each other.

What do you make of that?

Well, I think they still want a woman to win.

It just happens to be themselves--

JULIE: [laughing]

--that they are figuring is going to win this.

Right.

I think it's a trust issue for both of them.

Cassandra doesn't trust that Jamie will be there to help

out when she really needs her.

Jamie doesn't trust that Cassandra

is part of this little group that she's forming.

And that sort of makes her feel uncomfortable.

So it's back to those trust issues again.

JULIE: Hm, yeah, everyone wants to win also.

Now I want to talk about Brittany's departure last week.

Yes.

A lot of the houseguests were shocked about that.

And actually, Jamie spent some time in the Red Room talking

about Brittany's departure.

Let's listen to that clip of Britt.

Brittany was so funny and so hilarious

that she was a big part of most the conversations in the house.

So when that element is gone now,

I think that you get to know everyone

else on a deeper level.

We are talking even more than we used to, which is great.

I think it was last night we got in a big conversation

about religion.

And we're just, you know, getting to know each other

on a different level.

Dr. Drew, what do you make of that?

Well, of course, it does point out the fact

that Jamie was like this sort of center and a spoke in a wheel,

maintaining relationships with all the--

JULIE: You mean Brittany was-- - Brittany, I beg your pardon.

JULIE: It's OK.

But what I react to here is Jamie again.

Unfortunately, she really has difficulty

expressing how she truly feels.

And she starts out with Brittany's wonderful,

but I'm sure relieved she's gone.

Ah.

And she has some difficulty expressing her true and clear

feelings in an honest way.

Now last week, AOL conducted a poll asking people

if they thought any of the houseguests

would take the money and run tonight.

What were the results of that poll?

Right. That's been the big question.

Nobody knew how it was going to turn out.

But % of people called it.

They said nobody is going to take the money.

Curtis had % of the vote, Cassandra %.

People figured they'll do the math, figure out their odds.

George had %.

He's talked a lot about needing the money.

And we saw him struggle with that.

Josh and Eddie had %.

And Jamie came in with %.

Most people think she's more interested in the cameras

than the cash.

JULIE: Oh, no kidding.

Well, since finding out that no one wanted to take the money

and leave tonight, AOL conducted a quick -second survey

while we were on the air, asking if people were surprised

that no one took the money. What were the results of that?

Right.

We ran an instant poll, and we got an instant reaction.

You could almost feel it.

And it was split right down the middle.

% said they were surprised.

% said, we called it.

We weren't surprised.

Only by a % margin.

Yeah, because we saw them struggle

with it for a long time.

You didn't know which way it was going to go.

Right.

Now I want to spend some time talking about Brittany,

because last week, when she was banished from the house,

I understand that AOL became flooded

with messages about her.

Yeah, Brittany is the rage on America Online,

particularly with teen girls.

And they are all fired up about the banishment.

One person wrote, foul play!

They should let her back in the house,

and even started a petition online.

JULIE: No kidding.

Yeah.

Now George was also perceived as a factor in her banishment.

But people are giving him the benefit of the doubt, saying,

they think he'd be embarrassed if he knew

about the actions of his family and friends, at least

they hope so.

Mm.

Any other messages?

Yeah, lastly, this was a great one.

Somebody said, you know, after all, Brittany's not a survivor.

She's gone, people.

You know, get over it.

The "tribe" has spoken.

Taking that line from "Survivor."

When I left the house, my husband just said goodbye.

He said it was my home, you know,

but he didn't actually ask me to stay.

It is nice.

I'm excited about California.

And hopefully, I'll land me a job.

And I'm so ready for a new start.

It's a scary thing to take a -year-old

I think the very fact that I get to see her

so soon, it means the world to me.

She's like family to me.

When I saw Karen's apartment today,

I thought it was really cute.

We had discussed living together when we were in the house.

And I think that would be really neat.

OK, tell me, how many autographs have you given?

[laughs]

I'm not so sure the television show is what changed my life.

I mean, it was something that I knew had to happen,

because I've always lived my life for everybody else.

And all of a sudden, now I feel like I'm doing something

for myself and my children.

With us tonight in the studio is

the third banished houseguest, Karen.

Karen, it's great to see you. Welcome.

Hi, same here. JULIE: How are you doing?

I'm doing great.

JULIE: Now before you went into the "Big Brother" house,

you said you wanted to go in there

and live because you were seeking changes in your life.

What kind of changes have happened since you've

come out of the house?

I think everything.

[laughing] Well, actually, definitely the place I live,

you know, who I live with.

And, I don't know, it's overwhelming.

I mean, it's exciting.

But it's-- there a lot of changes.

And-- but they've all been positive.

You know, it's kind of nice to lay down at night,

and I feel at peace with everything I've done.

So I guess that's good.

JULIE: Well, it looks to agree with you,

because you look wonderful.

What was it like initially when you did go back to Indiana?

The first night was weird, because I stayed up.

Everybody went to bed.

And I kind of got online, which is not a good thing.

[chuckles] And I went to all the bad websites

to see what everybody said about me.

So I kind of felt real bad that first night.

And then I ended up--

I left for the weekend with my son.

And when I came back, it was just like this

is something I have to do.

Nothing seemed to be resolved.

And I-- not that I gave it that much time.

But it just felt like it wasn't meant to be.

JULIE: How were you received by friends,

family, former coworkers?

I didn't even go see them.

I just-- I didn't call anybody.

I waited for people to call me.

And I received so many phone calls from people

all over the United States and Canada,

just telling me that they were behind me

and they supported me, not one negative comment,

which was really strange.

And people from Columbus, as well, called me and said, wait,

we're not like everybody here.

And so I did get a lot of good stuff.

I haven't had any negatives yet.

So I'm pretty lucky.

[chuckles]

And coming up, a visit from another alum, Karen's

good friend Brittany is here with some new opinions

about her former housemates.

My name is Tony, and I'm the world's

only artist immortalizing scenes from TV's "Big Brother."

I love the show.

I grew up watching, you know, "Family

Affair" and "The White Shadow."

And this is the first show that has floored me since then.

Me and the family will sit in front of the TV

and watch "Big Brother."

Does that look like Curtis?

I'll get these little ideas of the different scenes

from "Big Brother," and I'll rush out to my trailer.

A typical painting, from start to finish,

including putting the painting in the envelope

and stamping it to send it out, takes minutes or less.

Anything more than minutes is a waste of paint.

And it's a waste of my time.

[chuckles]

To give you an idea of some of the titles, "Brittany Stands

on Her Head," "Jamie Visits the Red Room," "George the Cow,"

from one of my favorite episodes.

Cassandra is a breeze to paint.

Curtis, I have a little difficulty painting.

He's got a great hairdo.

The most response I've had for a painting so far has been "Eddie

Brushes His Teeth."

In the big picture of things, maybe I'm

no van Gogh or Michelangelo, but I'm having fun.

[laughing]

It's time for another reunion on "Big Brother,"

so please help me welcome the most popular houseguest,

according to the internet, and banished from "Big Brother"

house last week, Brittany.

Brittany, welcome. - Thanks.

[giggles] JULIE: Nice to see you.

Good to see you too. [giggles]

JULIE: They love you. - Thank you.

[giddy laughter] JULIE: How are you doing?

Good, good.

You've had a really busy week since leaving

one week ago tonight.

What has it been like?

What have you been doing?

It's a dream.

It's so much fun.

People come up to me and then, since they

feel like they know me, they tell me personal things

about themselves.

And I feel like I know them.

It's kind of like meeting old friends from high school

over and over and over.

And it's just-- it's great.

It's--

Now you've also been asked some strange questions,

I'm sure, for example?

Oh, one of my interviewers asked me,

if you had to lose your virginity

to one of the houseguests, which one would it be?

And I'm just like, you're kidding me.

I'm not going there.

You know, there are certain questions I'm just like, no.

JULIE: Good for you.

Now are you going to move in with Karen or not?

Yes, actually, I think I'm going to move out to LA.

And I'm going to stay out there for a while.

So I'm so excited.

Her daughters are so great, and it's so--

yeah, I love Karen.

The thing about Karen, she's the same awesome person

outside of the house that she was in the house.

And it just-- she's great, and it's the same.

JULIE: Well, that's what I want to talk to you about, because I

understand since you left the house,

you've been watching tapes and tapes and tapes of

past episodes of "Big Brother."

And that your opinion of some of your former housemates

has changed.

I want to know specifically how so.

And who do you see in a different light now?

Well, first of all, I think Eddie, Josh, and Curtis,

I think more highly of them, because I see

them on the tapes being them.

And I feel that they're real.

The other houseguests, I question some of the things

that they've done.

And it's hard since they don't have a voice.

They're stuck in that house, and they can't defend

themselves from my questions.

But there's just George, I just don't even know where to start.

[laughing]

JULIE: OK, you're not that comfortable with George

anymore.

Well, it's just very odd to hear

his reasons for nominating me.

Do you nominate someone because they won't

let you double-dip a chip?

I just-- just odd to me, you know.

And I was angry because he did this little skit

about Karen in the water on the boobs or something.

Right.

And he asked me if he could borrow my wig.

And I said, only if you don't say anything mean.

I said, you can borrow my wig if it's like hello

or goodbye or something nice.

And he promised me he wasn't going to go in there

and do anything rude.

And he did. [laughs]

Let's talk about Jamie, 'cause when you left that night,

you said she's a good friend.

Yeah.

Your opinion has changed?

Yeah.

I'm hurt.

And sometimes my hurt kind of it manifests as anger.

I felt-- we had long talks about how important good friends are,

and friends are priceless and such.

And she's told me more times than I can count that she

feels like we're sisters.

And it's not so much the tapes.

It's me going back and remembering conversations,

things that weren't on tapes that I feel like she maybe

wasn't quite as honest with me.

And especially after I left, it seemed, you know,

Josh and Curtis, they were hurt.

And, you know, I see the episode,

she was talking about how good she is as acting.

And [chuckles] that kind of hurt my feelings.

I kind of thought she'd maybe be a little

sad if I was a sister, not that she needed to lose it, but--

Well, Brittany, we're going to let you talk to one

of the houseguests tonight.

So let me bring them in, OK?

- Yeah. - You think so?

Hey, how you doing?

I'm doing very well.

OK, OK, here's the thing.

It's pretty accurate.

And they got the whole town, and all the stuff.

They're going to vote out every single person

that's the next most popular.

So, like, they have this friend with the phone company

that's not charging for the bill.

It's crazy.

know what, I don't know what's happening out there.

And I want to make sure that everybody's getting along

and loving each other in here.

So I'm not going to think about the stuff that you just said.

But I'm going to take it, you know, into account later

on when I get out of here.

The way things are supposed to happen, it will happen.

And I trust in God, and I trust the right thing will happen.

She left and she moved to LA with her kids.

As far as that goes, she makes it sound

like it's heaven out there.

How is she doing?

She's doing good.

She couldn't tell me in specifics.

But I said, you know, I hope that great things

are happening to you.

And she said, yes, they are.

Well, good for her.

And, um, so--

you know, there was some other stuff.

But I told her, I said you know what, it's going to go

in one ear and out the other.

I told her that from the beginning.

I said, no matter what comes in, things thrown over the wall,

through the TV, through speakers, I don't care.

So I'll just leave it at that.

And you guys have to respect that,

'cause I don't want it to change in here.

I want it to stay the way it is.

We're a tight group right now.

So we'll just let it be that way.

I mean, a lot of the stuff that you don't see when

you're in there, you don't see 'cause you on purpose

block it out.

If you let one thing bother you, it snowballs, and you go crazy.

Did you want him to keep it a secret,

or did you want him to tell?

I wanted him to tell, but I'm not shocked at all that he's

keeping it a secret, because I may

have done the same thing if roles were

reversed, because you just--

oh, there's not a word to describe it.

The air in the house is different.

You feel different.

Just walking outside, I felt like a different person.

It's not healthy.

It's not healthy in the house. [chuckles]

Do you think he's going to take it to heart,

what you told him about?

Oh, he'll definitely think about it.

And it'll--

Change his opinion of the others?

It'll-- he will probably act a little bit differently

towards other people.

And it might change his nominations next time.

[chuckles]
