welcome to the world of amazing farm

animals

having a day in the countryside henry

i'm going to my uncle's farm for a whole

week

he wants me to look after his farm

animals while he's away

oh a big zebra with horns henry that's a

cow

how can you look after farm animals when

you can't even recognize one

excuse me i know a farm animal when i

see one

hey these must be the animals you get

cotton candy from

you wish henry they're sheep and they're

wearing wool coats not cotton candy

hmm so out of season i'd get your money

back on those coats guys

they didn't buy them it's their own fur

you can't pull the wool over my eyes

so i finally arrived

boy am i looking forward to a quiet

break

hey what's all the noise

it's the chickens henry it must be

feeding time

great what are we having henry you've

got a lot to learn about being a farmer

i know i have to find someone to teach

me the banjo

first you better make sure all your farm

animals are fed healthy and safe

from harm oh me yes you

that's a farmer's job what do you call a

farmhand who looks after the cows

uh cowboy you're right so how come i've

never heard of a

boy or a turkey boy

or a sheep boy who looks after those

animals a shepherd of course

yeah but who's ever heard of a duck herd

huh farmers don't just keep cows and

sheep

all over the world from the sahara

desert to south america

animals are kept for their wool milk

eggs and meat did you say meat or wheat

farmers need to grow crops too there's a

lot of work on a farm henry

cows

henry but it was a nice safe

this is bad isn't it

lesson number one in farming henry how

to tell the cows from the bulls

couldn't you have told me earlier bulls

are male

cows are female they have udders between

their legs

this is utter magnus what are those guys

doing

milking the cows these friesian cows can

each produce around 100 glasses of milk

every day that's amazing

yup just think of all the cookies you'd

need to eat

people once milked all cows by hand but

modern dairy farms have machines that do

the job for them

one less chore for me hey is that

comfortable for the cows

having full utters is very uncomfortable

so the cows are glad to be milked

from moo-moo people on farms must drink

the freshest milk ever

delicious and good for you so is it true

that

chocolate milk comes from chocolate cows

sorry henry

cow's milk only comes in one flavor but

all female mammals produce milk

handy when there's no cows around

mongolia's nomadic people are always on

the move

their horses are essential for riding

carrying their tents

and for milk excuse me is that straight

from the horse's mouth

no it comes out the other end actually

funny so where does she keep her milking

machine

at the end of her arms what she melts

the mares that's the female horses by

hand

horses don't produce as much milk as

cows making mare's milk a valuable food

source in the harsh desert

the locals even offer some to the

spirits of the sky and the ground

as a thanksgiving well if they offered

me any horsey milk you know what i'd say

can't you see i'm in the middle of

you're trying to hurt the sheep huh i

don't think they heard anything

no herding sheep what farmers do to move

sheep from one place to another

but they get help from a sheep dog a dog

yes sheep are afraid of dogs so a

trained sheepdog can easily herd sheep

with instructions from the farmer

i know hey that's no sheep dog

isn't it the sheep who are supposed to

be in the pen huh

sheep have their long winter growth of

wool cut off the usual for you madam

keep you waiting sir won't be a minute

the sheepdog is on hand to make sure

that nobody runs away

sheep are some of the most obedient farm

animals around and they're glad to get

rid of their hot winter wool as summer

approaches

besides it's going to a good use let me

belly button fluff no uh

i know wait vegetarian sausage stuffing

i don't think so uh

is it piano wires no henry don't be so

ridiculous

i know i know like you said it's wool

you make clothes out of it it's spun

into thread and that gets woven into

cloth

it's the stuff that makes my grandpa's

underwear scratchy

it's what aunt helen knits me a sweater

out of every christmas

dead suits mom sucks warm in winter

cool in summer wool is everywhere

and you can buy it pretty colors

wow ten points henry

so what do you think is happening here

feeding time at caterpillar ranch

they're called silkworms but you're

right really they're caterpillars

they're spinning cocoons where they'd

normally transform into a moth or

butterfly in the wild

but on a silk farm the cocoons are

unwound again

just like the sheep's wool the tiny

lines of silk get wound onto big reels

and then woven into luxurious fabric

is that what her shoes are made of and

her skirt

and her scarf oh i hope it isn't as

scratchy as my wool sweaters

hardly henry it's as smooth as silk

beautiful imagine me as a ballerina

in the nutcracker i can dance on my

tippy toes and i've got a cute ballerina

farmers suspected of hatching secret

plan mysterious farm activity has been

reported

from several barns it's believed that

giant chickens are being raised

in hidden locations around the world at

night

huge egg cartons were seen being shipped

out of the back door

neighbors say loud clucking noises kept

them awake

and other farm animals were moved to new

pastures to make room for the giant

birds

geese migrated to florida goats headed

for the hills

but the sheep weren't bothered at all

witnesses claim the monster fowl have

tall legs

fluffy feathers and a head the size of a

football

if you ask me i think the whole

conspiracy

is just a big yolk

you think they bought it you couldn't

even give it away henry

although there may be a tiny bit of

truth buried in there somewhere

aha so there is something they've buried

down on the farm

i knew it it's not all fluffy little

lambs

and cozy comfy cows is it is it what

is the secret behind the barn door which

no one dares tell

what ginormous two-toed creatures are

waiting to attack

could they be a flock of dinosaurs

welcome to jurassic farm they're coming

this way

calm down henry these are ostriches not

dinosaurs

not dinosaurs nope for farmers these

huge flightless birds are a big source

of low-fat

meat i wouldn't want to meet one not

with a kick like that

those powerful legs make them the

fastest bird in the world and all that

running keeps them lean

and mean ostrich farms were actually

created to supply giant fluffy feathers

ostrich feather hats were once a popular

fashion item

they're now big business there are more

farmed ostriches worldwide than wild

ones in their native africa

i still think farms are for chickens

even the humble chicken was once a wild

bird of the jungle

given up on farming animals henry yeah

vegetables are much easier to look after

if i could just get

this carrot would be huge i don't think

so henry it looks like somebody's trying

to steal it go you

and a cute bunny rabbit did you see who

tried to take it uh henry

no way not the rabbit you may think that

he's cute but to most farmers

he's a pest hmm i know all about pests

Bear

i've got baby cousins

so what's this that's no pest it's a

mole but to farmers all their tunneling

under fields can damage crops

the mole doesn't mean any harm of course

not all animals are just trying to

survive

but sometimes they come into conflict

with humans

take this hungry spectacled bear

spectacled bears live in the andes

mountains of south america

the bears love to eat grapes guavas and

avocados

but this one's found a convenient field

of corn

you'll call it corn farmers call it

maize

farmers call it stealing crops which

makes the bear a pest

she's not the only one eating it true

but a spectacled bear can do a lot of

damage

they're the biggest mammal on the

continent i guess you'd say she's making

a spectacle of herself

but you don't need glasses to see that

there are a lot of pests around this

maze field

the bear's name comes from the yellow

rings around their eyes

some people think they look like glasses

and there she goes

an amazing maze-eating animal

henry talk about a corny joke

wow

Scarecrow

okay no pesky pests are getting any of

my corn

oh no and just how are you going to stop

them

the ultimate scarecrow the verminator

wow looks pretty scary it even sounds

scary

listen

wow it dries your laundry but it hasn't

scared that crow off

i ain't finished yet

so now the crow can see the corn better

not for long

watch this see

i told you it would work

well henry that's one way to stop pests

eating crops

get rid of the crops

maybe it needs a few modifications maybe

what you need henry is a big goose

excuse me down on the farm geese do a

Geese

great job of scaring off unwanted

animals and keeping others in line

why geese see all strangers as a

possible threat

so they act like guards patrolling the

farm yard guard geese

here boy don't worry about those things

hey where'd he go he's steering clear he

knows those powerful wings can really

hurt if they give you a whack

oh well

hey kitty kitty oh

here comes the patrol again can't you

guys give it a break

how am i gonna make friends on the floor

if you chase them all away

wait for you to fly south for the winter

no chance of that henry

farm guarding geese stay on duty all

year round

constant protection for all kinds of

animals who said what's good for the

goose is good for the gecko

Llama

or something protection is a matter of

survival for farm animals

especially when they can't defend

themselves from wild predators

yeah like sheep or sheepish

and lambs are bashful

and llamas are top dogs at guarding

sheep

say llamas i had a llama dolly when i

was a kid

a dalai lama yeah get it a dolly

llama

call the llama squad

it's an emergency the fox i see it

thanks to the llamas so did the sheep

squad to the rescue

no lamb chops for you foxy lucky those

llamas were there

it is lucky their guarding skills were

discovered by accident

don't tell a llama once wandered into a

sheep field by mistake

farmers realized the long-necked llamas

could spot predators before the sheep

would

and the llamas were happy to live

alongside their fellow grazers

that is amazing well to the little

lambies

they're heroes and to me they're perfect

for what for looking after the farm

for me

Golden Gecko

and now ladies and gentle lizards

it's time for a henry's amazing golden

gecko awards the winners of my all-time

best amazing farm

animal are

in third place silkworms those little

guys of the farm

who have expensive tasting clothes my

kind of

in caterpillars place the spectacle bear

uh

mostly because she couldn't bear to lose

talk about being a pants

but tonight's golden gecko award plus a

matching set of stick knives

goes to the cows that's right

Golden Gecko Award

cows bulls steers and all cattle kind

too many kinds to mention you know who

you are

cows and their relatives cover our

planet in their millions

they live on farms and provide us with

milk meat

and uh even something to shovel onto the

flower bed

there's the mighty highland cattle it's

got a superb set of horns

and it's shaggy enough to withstand the

harshest scottish winters

then there's the yak a close cow

relative from the mountains of central

asia

they can survive even worse conditions

thanks to a furry muzzle

a furry neck furry everything except for

horns of course

so if you're feeling low get on the horn

and call a yak

that's what they'll do yak yak yak yak

not like the bison also called the

american buffalo

more the strong silent type they're the

biggest land animal in north america

and all that hair on the front end makes

them look even bigger and keeps them

warm in winter

so hey all you cows out there we think

you're

golden gecko great so keep on moving

work to do

oh work what work

i did it yesterday and today you have to

do it

all over again that's how it is with

farms henry

oh no is there no rest for the lizard

easy for you to say all you have to do

is make a noise

you don't even have to get your own

breakfast don't be such a grouch henry

without farm animals producing eggs milk

and bacon

not to mention the cereals grown on

farms you wouldn't have any breakfast

maybe i'll just stick to juice even the

fruit for juice is grown on farms henry
