01x02 - Hero Rising (Part 2)

Post by bunniefuu »

- Stan, you can't just take me
off the street like that, okay?

I have my rights, okay?
I'm a human being.

- I'll tell you about your
mission, if you're interested.

- A mission?
- Aren't you the
least bit curious?

- Yeah.

But I'm only--

I'm only gonna do this once,
okay? And then you're gonna
take me right back home.

- Dr. Necros -
one of the 7 members

of the evil Omega Defiance.

Once a brilliant mind, now
twisted by genetic engineering.

- Okay, that is just weird.

- Yes, he is.
- No, I mean the projector
that's coming out of your head.

- Nice, huh?
I just went high-def.

- Cool.

- Necros has stolen a deadly
toxin which, if released,

will transform everyone exposed
to it into a mindless
drooling zombie.

Our sources tell us
that he's looking for
a means of deploying it.

He's using his right-hand man -
the Souljacker.

Perhaps the most
dangerous man alive.

- This is Souljacker?
From the Hero Rising game?

- Yes. The most
dangerous man alive.

- Yes, you just
said that, Stan. But...

Before you said he was "perhaps"
the most dangerous man alive...

- Did I?
- Yeah.
- Sorry.

Absolutely, definitely,
without a doubt,

the most dangerous man alive -
there, is that better?

- Not really.

- Oh, and Mr. Hall
has a surprise for you.

- Oh, good. Another surprise.

- Oh, you'll like this surprise,
Aaron Stone. Mr. Hall has
designed your uniform.

- What uniform?

Stan, do I look silly?

- Silly?
- Yeah.

- You are Aaron Stone!

- I mean, I...
I look like Aaron.

Got the X-5 runners!

Ah! Whoo-hoo-hoo!

Ah, how cool is that!

- And you must try the gauntlet.
- What? Come on!

- Everything in Hero Rising
is real. Go ahead.

[Electronic noises]
- Ow!

What was that?
- A microscopic impulse
sensor just entered your body.

Now your thoughts
control the gauntlet.

- Wait.

So you mean, if I just think
about firing a laser, I can--

h* h*!

Oh, that is so cool!

- Yes, when it's not

pointed at you.

We've tracked Souljacker to this
building. Whatever he's up to,
it's happening in there.

- All right.
- You must stop
him, Aaron Stone.

- I'll try.

- That's the fighting spirit
I've heard so much about!
- All right.

Whoa! Aah!

[Moaning in pain]

- Until you get the
hang of the X-5s,

perhaps you ought
to use the door.

- That's...
that's a good idea.

- My new rocket launcher!
[Metallic tapping sound]

Much easier than I thought.

However...

Now we can deliver the toxin!

- I hate to spoil your plans.

- And who are you?
- I'm Charlie-- I mean...

I'm Aaron Stone.

- Well, Mr. Stone.
Why don't you come on in?

[Combat yell]

- Whew!

You missed.
- Did I?

[Moaning in pain]

I don't miss.

- Stan!

Stan, help!

[Electronic noises]
Stan!

Stan! Help!

[Electronic noises]
Help!

- I guess your Stan
isn't coming. Put him
out of his misery!

Aah!

Aah!
- Oh!

- Aah!

[Moaning in pain]

- That didn't go too well.
- Aaron, are you all right?

- Yes, Stan. I'm all right.

No thanks to you! Did
you hear me yell for help?

- Of course I did.
You said, "Stan, help! Stan!"

But, as an android, I am
governed by Asimov's
rules of robotics.

A robot may not harm
a human being nor allow
a human being to be harmed.

- Hello! I was being harmed!
- Yes.

I nearly blew a servo
thinking about it.

- You know, why don't we
just face the facts, Stan?

I got poned!
- Poned?

I'm fluent in every human
language, but I do not
understand that word.

- No, it's a videogame term.
It means I got my butt kicked.

You know, I got to
get to school, okay?

I should be looking after Jason,
I should be helping my mom.

Just like I promised
my dad. But no!

No! Not me! All right?
I'm halfway across the world.

And I'm dressed like a videogame
character, fighting some weirdo
swinging sticks at me!

But you know what? It's all
good. It's all good, Stan.

You know why?
Because I have you.
An android who can't even help!

- That's the spirit! You'll get
him next time, Aaron Stone!

- No! No, Stan. I won't.
Because I quit!

- Aaron. You can't walk home.

It's 7,963 miles away!

Aaron! Can you even swim?

- Can I go in now?

- I said: not until
I make the shot.
[Woman screaming]

- Whoo! Oh, my God!

I got it! I got it!
I got it! I got it!

- What?
- A job! I got a job!

- That's great, Mom!
- I am...

Vice-president in charge
of integrated analysis.

- That's...

What is that?
- I have no idea.

But they promise to tell me
when I start on Monday!

And - you're going to love this
- it's at a videogame company.

- Yes!
[Mom laughing]

That's awesome!
- No.

- What do you mean, no?
- I...

No, I didn't think you
liked videogames, Mom.
- I love them now!

Give me that ball!

Oh!

Who is your momma?

Who is your momma with a job?
- That's awesome, Mom.

Mom's shot counts.
I'm going inside.

Hey, Mom! Nice shot.

- Thank Mr. Hall for me.

But it doesn't change anything.

[Groaning]

[Combat yells]

- Very impressive.

Perhaps you should
try that on a person.

And maybe next time,
you won't leave a witness.

- He was just a boy.

[Moaning]

- That boy works
for T. Abner Hall.

Need I say more?

Next time,
you finish him.

Or I'll finish you.
Do you understand?

[Souljacker moaning]
Do you understand?

- Yes, Dr. Necros.

- Good. Now...

Very nice rocket launcher
you got me. Very impressive.

Very mobile. Very powerful.

I'm really quite
impressed, Souljacker.

By this time tomorrow,

the toxin will
have been released.

And 100 million worthless
souls will be infected.

Chaos will reign,

the government will fall,

and the Omega Defiance
will walk in

and take over the
most powerful nation

in the world!

- Hey, Charlie.

I'm gonna eat on the lawn.
Want to join me?

- Sure.
- Well, hello there, beautiful.

- Yes?

- Hi--
- This is, uh,
my little brother Jason.

- What's up?
- He's not eating with us.
- No, really. I got some time.

I mean...
- But you had that thing...

- But I can...
- You really do have that thing.

[Background chatter]
- Hmm. Your brother, huh?

Is he all right?
- You know, the test
results haven't come back yet.

[Laughing]

Uh, there's something
I need to take care of.

I'll catch up with you in a bit.
- All right.

- Okay? All right. Stan,
what are you doing here?

- Oh, didn't you hear?
Mrs. Rousseau resigned last
night after winning the lottery.

- What?!

You're teaching?
- Yes.

- You gotta be kidding me!

It's Hall! That's it!

The lottery, my mom's job...

Oh no. You're not doing this
again, okay? Look, I just...

I just want to hang out with my
friends. All right, my mom?

And yes, even my
little brother.

- Perhaps hanging out
with your family and friends

is a wise decision.

Because maybe not today and
maybe not tomorrow, but soon

and most assuredly, this world
you know will come to an end.

[School bell ringing]

- Come on. It can't be that bad.

[Background chatter]

- And you are the only one
who can stop it.

Hey, class!

I know this is usually
a history discussion,

but I thought today we would
discuss applied physics.

- Hey.

Remember me?
- [Oh, yeah!]

[You're the bonehead
who got me creamed!]

- Hey. That was good advice.

Let me show you how it's done.

- [I'm all eyes, hotshot.]

- I will destroy you!

- Oh, no. No.
In this game...

I own you.

- [Okay, I was wrong about you.]

- Apology accepted.

Emma.

- Emma?

[How'd you know my...]

[name?]

[Charlie?]

[You?]

You're...

- Aaron Stone.

- Wow!
[Laughing]

You're "the" Aaron Stone?

Oh no. I called you a bonehead.

- Yes, you did.

- Hey, bro?

- Hold on a sec.

- Hey, uh, look.

I know you're gonna say no,
but can I please play?
- Yeah.

- Really?
- Yeah, sure.
- Thanks.

- Wow.

You're really Aaron Stone.

- Yep.

I mean, I'm really just Charlie.

But Aaron is my avatar.
- Oh, I know.

I know.
[Shy laugh]

But it must be so cool, being
the best player in the world.

You're a legend, Charlie!

Why didn't you tell me?

- You know, actually,
I haven't really told anybody.

- If I were Aaron Stone,
I'd tell everybody.

- Not something I talk about.
- You should be proud of
being him, Charlie.

He's a hero! He saves
the world all the time!

- Yeah. I mean, it's
just a game, you know.

- No. It's not just a game!
It's much more than that.

Read the box, Charlie!

"Hero Rising.
It's not just a game."

Could you imagine doing the
stuff in the game for real?

Oh! How cool would that be!

- Yeah. Uh, it's maybe
not as cool as you think.

- Oh Aaron, maybe a lot
cooler than "you" think.

- Yeah? Yeah, maybe.

- I'm sure.

- Good night, Emma.
- Good night, Hero.

- Hey, Charlie.
- Yeah.

- Come over here. Look at
this new avatar I created.

It looks just like me.
Meet Terminus Max!

All right?
He's the biggest, baddest,

"behemothest" -

and if that's not
a word, it should be -
avatar in the game, yeah!

- Sweet. Does he blow up just
as fast as your last avatar?

- Not a chance, dude! No.
Just watch.

Watch why do to the
Souljacker, all right?

Come and get me, stick boy!

Ha! You missed me!
- Jas, Jas, watch out.

Jason, his stick acts
like a boomerang, man.

Ah!

- Thanks, Charlie.

How do you do all that stuff?

- I don't know, it just...
comes natural.

- That was amazing.
You know, we make a good team.

I get into trouble
and you get me out.

- Jason, I can't always
get you out of trouble.

- Sure, you can.
You're Aaron Stone!

No one's
better than you.

Tomorrow, Terminus Max
and Aaron Stone

are gonna kick some
Omega Defiance butt, okay?

- You got it, little brother.

You and me. Tomorrow.

- All right.
- All right.

You know, you don't even
surprise me anymore.

This is it, isn't it?

- Yes. Souljacker
is on the move.

They now have the toxin
and a rocket launcher.

Something terrible
is about to happen.

- To Jason?

My mom?

Everyone?

And I'm the only one
who could stop it?

- You are the only one.

- Let's go kick some
Omega Defiance butt!

- Don't worry. If you get
eliminated you have extra lives.

No, wait.
That's only in the game.

- What?!

[Sighing]

- Make sure nothing stops us!

- Sweet.

- Ow!
- Ah!

[Combat yells]

- I wonder how many experience
points that would be worth.

- Not so fast, boy!

[Combat yells]

[Moaning]

[Combat yells]

You're pretty good.
I'll give you that.
But there's 20 seconds left.

You're gonna have to get through
me, and that's not happening!

[Souljacker screaming]

- Someone just got
poned by the newbie.

Yeod! Whoo!

Stan. Stan, what
are you doing?

- Oh, Mr. Hall thought it best
I keep a close eye on you.

So I rented out the room in your
house. It's great news, yes?

- Do you really want
me to answer that?

- No.

- Stan. Stan.

[Stan sighing]

- Watch.
[Electronic noise]

I hardwired my head
as a universal remote.

Much easier than carrying
around a garage door opener.

- Oh, no way, Stan!
This is mine?

- A gift from Mr. Hall.

- Dude. Dude!

Ah, you are k*lling
me, Stan! I can't.
- Can't?

- I can't. For my own safety,
I have to keep a low profile.

- Ah, yes. Souljacker
is still out there.

- No, I was thinking
more like my mom.

- To say nothing of her.

- But before you take
it back - Yeah!

Whoo-hoo-hoo!

Whoo-hoo-hoo! Whoo!

- From now on, Mr. Hall
will be contacting you

through Hero Rising.
- Playing that game
will never be the same!

Come on, Stan!
Loosen up, man!

Put your head out the window
and feel that wind in your hair!

Hey. Face.

- Ah. All right.

- Whoo!

How's it feel?
[Popping]
Stan?

Stan!

- Hello, curb! Bouncy head
coming through! Watch yourself.

Aaron? Aaron Stone?

- Stan!
- Charlie!
