Our lead story today
takes us to the bush

where Dorothy the
Dinosaur and some friends

went for a bush walk.

Dorothy, are you
out there somewhere?

And hello, everybody.

What a beautiful day my friends
and I are going bushwalking.

It should be great fun.

CHILD 1: Bushwalking has lots of
kookaburras and lots of rocks.

Is there anything dangerous
in the Australian bush?

You'd find a sp--

a red bag of funnel
webs live in the ground.

Spiders go into your bedrooms
and they nip up the cotton out

of your pillow to make webs.

DOROTHY: Really?

Are we likely to
see any kangaroos?

Oh, kangaroos in
the Australian bush?

They're really
far away, but I've

seen them at a farmer's house.

DOROTHY: And what about koalas?

CHILD 1: Oh, koalas
live in gum trees

because koalas eat gum leaf.

And what about wombats?

Or bats.

Oh.

Wombats?

Wombats have no wings.

Yes.

And bats have wings.

Wings.

CHILD 2: And bats are
in the sky and wombats

are on the ground digging.

There's nothing like a
walk in the Australian bush.

to Anthony's Workshop.

Today, we're painting so
you might need an apron.

We're painting
paper roll holders

and we're going to turn
them into didgeridoos, which

are traditional Australian
instrument usually made

from hollow trees,
wood, but we're

making them out of these paper.

They sound like this,
a little bit like this.

[didgeridoo playing]

They're lots of fun,
rhythmic instrument.

Right now, though, over
here, Riley's started

painting using lots of colors.

Tell us about it, Riley.

Just a colorful one.

ANTHONY: Yeah.

Just colorful, brilliant.

Up and down.

And, Rebecca, what
are you going for?

What's your favorite color here?

Red.

Lots of reds and black.

Seamus, tell us about
what you're doing.

I'm just doing a
hoopty-doo thing.

A sort of a hoopty-doo
painting on your didgeridoo.

Yeah.

It's wonderful.

Absolutely wonderful.

Over here, Zack is
working very hard.

A little bit different, Zack.

Tell us about what
you've done here.

I've done some stripes.

A brown one, a black one,
a white one, and a red one.

ANTHONY: And the big question
is, what color next, Zack?

What color do you think
you'll go for next?

wonderful sound.

I'll breathe in
through my nose

and out through my
mouth at the same time.

Wow.

It's called
circular breathing.

Can you do that?

Can you breathe in
through your nose

and blow out at the same time?

That's pretty hard.

That's very clever.

Now, Les, the didgeridoo makes
all sorts of different sounds.

You can make it sound like
animals, is that right?

Yeah.

You can make it sound
like animals, birds,

and other sounds as well.

That's fantastic.

We might get Les to do that.

And let's see if
we can guess what

animals that Les is making.

This one is a special
Australian bird.

[didgeridoo playing]

CHILD: Kookaburra.

Oh, what do you
think, everyone?

I think--
- Kookaburra.

Is that right, Les,
it's the kookaburra?

It's the Australian
laughing bird, the kookaburra.

MURRAY: Wow, that's great.
How about another one?

Can we here another one?

LES: Yeah, this is another bird.

[didgeridoo playing]

Can you guess what that is?

What do you think--

That sounds like a pig.

It's a dog.

No, it's not a pig
and it's not a dog.

That one's the emu.

That's the big emu bird.

Oh, that's the
sound an emu makes.

That's wonderful.

OK, this one's an animal.

[didgeridoo]

MURRAY: What do you think.

Dingo.

LES: That's it.
That's a good one.

That's the dingo.

That's the
Australian wild dog.
