[somber music]
NARRATOR:The great house of Collinwood,
in Parallel Time,
and Quentin Collins faces enormous danger,
danger he does not even suspect.
And there is no one who can warn him,
for Barnabas Collins lies trapped in this coffin,
a prisoner of William H. Loomis,
unable to affect the events which threaten to bring tragedy
to all who live at the mansion.
For this woman has returned from the dead,
and taken her twin sister's identity,
but she has discovered that to sustain the illusion of life,
she must take warmth from the living.
[dramatic music]
ANGELIQUE: I'm all right now.
He's so cold.
Yes.
And I am warm again.
He's dead.
It's as if he'd been dead for hours.
This is the way it will be now.
This is the way I must live.
And when Quentin comes to join me,
he will live this way, too.
For eternity.
[sinister music]
[eerie music]
You're frightened of me, Hannah?
Who wouldn't be?
I don't mind if you're frightened,
because you are going to serve me.
Angelique-- Don't call me that.
Even when we're alone, my name is Alexis.
Now, I want you to take the body out of here.
Burn it, bury it, it doesn't matter.
I can't.
You will!
Or else you will feel the same terrible cold of the grave.
That's your choice.
Suppose someone,
suppose someone saw me bringing him here.
Then you will tell them that he has left.
He was a loner.
A dr*fter.
Anyone who knew him will think he's,
he's simply gone on his way.
Will they?
If you answer their questions correctly, yes.
[sighs] I never knew you were such a coward.
Don't leave me with him.
ANGELIQUE: But I have to go.
Don't you ever come to me again.
I will do this thing because I must.
But you will need warmth again.
I want no part of it.
Oh my dear, Aunt Hannah.
You were always so fascinated
about communicating with the dead
through your crystal ball,
your tarot cards, seances.
And yet, now you have me
and suddenly all your curiosity has turned to terror.
Have you learned that the dead are not to be trifled with?
I hope so.
There is a spirit at Collinwood
that will not let you do what you plan.
You're counting on Damion Edwards?
You had something to do with his m*rder.
He will know you've come back.
And what will you do, if he makes it clear to Quentin
who you really are?
What will you do then?
Nothing will keep me from having Quentin forever.
Nothing!
You will see, Aunt.
You will see.
[door thudding]
[ominous music]
Angelique's body was in the tomb?
Yes, you were wrong.
The woman in the house is Alexis.
And her body didn't deteriorate?
Why?
[sighs] Well, it doesn't matter now.
The body's been burned.
Quentin's taken you into his confidence?
No, no, I heard he and Dr. Longworth talking about it.
I, I saw them go out to do it.
Bruno, we're in trouble.
The ghost of Damion Edwards is in the house.
And it's not because of Angelique, it's because of us.
BRUNO: Oh but, the ghost has been quiet
for several days now.
Yes, but it's there, Bruno,
I can feel his presence everywhere.
Well then, get out!
Where to?
Hannah Stokes said he'd follow me wherever I go.
Hannah's a fool.
Now will you quit simpering about the ghost
until you've got a reason?
She really is Alexis.
I never thought I could be fooled so easily.
[quiet foreboding music]
Quentin Collins.
"Forgive me for intruding,
"but I know that my sister does miss you very much.
"If you call Maggie this evening,
"I'm sure you could talk her into coming back
"to you and Collinwood.
"The time is right.
"Jennifer Evans."
Alexis!
[dramatic music]
I was just thinking of you.
Pleasant thoughts? Of course.
Good, I need them.
Why?
Something happened?
Quentin, has Damion come--
No, the house is quiet.
[chuckles]
Seems I'm almost afraid to say that any more.
Have a brandy with me.
I won't let you say no.
I did have something I had to do.
Well, then you can do it later.
A perfect guest always agrees with the host.
And I am a guest in this house.
I must remember that.
All right, I'll have a brandy with you.
Good.
[paper crumpling]
I feel so at home here now.
QUENTIN: I'm glad.
Are you?
That surprises me.
Angelique loved this house so much, too.
Oh, is it still forbidden to mention her?
Would you prefer we discussed Maggie?
I'm sorry.
But I am curious about her, you know?
How could she ever have left this house?
QUENTIN: Perhaps it was wise that she did.
You don't mean that.
You do love her, don't you?
Why all this talk about Maggie?
I'm just trying to understand her.
Perhaps I'm really trying to understand you.
Were you happy together?
QUENTIN: You saw us here.
Yes, but before you came to Collinwood.
Weren't you happy then?
Maggie's a child.
A very innocent child.
Not at all like Angelique.
Even when we were children,
Angelique was always so dominant, so sophisticated.
And when I heard that you had married again,
I was quite surprised.
Were you now?
Yes.
I knew you could never find anyone like her.
No, no.
What will you do now, Quentin?
Hmm?
Will you try to get Maggie to come back to you?
No!
I will not call or write her again
until she makes a decision.
And then she can call or write me.
[suspenseful music]
How did you know to put that there?
Angelique bought that, just for that place.
It just seemed right, that's all.
[sighs] Quentin, surely you don't think I'm Angelique again
just because I did that.
She would never let it be put anywhere else.
Quentin.
You know who I am.
QUENTIN: Yes.
You're Alexis.
I know that.
A week ago, moving that,
and I would have had doubts.
But I no longer have any.
No?
None.
DAMION:Quentin, you know who I am.
You know who I am.
Who is that?
Damion!
DAMION:You know who I am, Quentin.
Do you know?
Do you know?
[Damion laughs sinisterly]
Why won't you appear to me?
What do you want from me?
Damion Edwards, what do you want from us?
DAMION:She knows.
She knows.
No.
No, I don't.
I don't, I swear I don't.
Why is he here?
Why does he say that?
He has me confused with Angelique, that's it.
Yes, I know he does.
QUENTIN: The way you're saying that,
you're implying that he has a reason for hating Angelique.
What?
I know nothing about the two of them.
No, of course you don't.
I thought he'd gone.
Disappeared.
Now what are we going to do?
Now, there's got to be a power
to get rid of him out of this place.
Yes, there has to be.
We've got to find someone.
And think of how I ridiculed Angelique
for believing in the occult.
She would know what to do now.
But that doesn't help us, does it?
Now listen, if you want to go, I understand.
And leave you here?
Oh no, Quentin.
I'm in this now.
I must stay.
[door thuds loudly]
What is it, sir?
He is back, Trask.
Damion Edwards is back.
Now perhaps you'll tell us what we want to know.
Why Damion Edwards cannot rest.
Sir, I,
I-- Yes?
I know nothing, sir.
As I told you before, sir, nothing at all, sir.
It's as great a mystery to me as it is to you, sir.
Come on, I'll take you to your room.
Trask.
If I were you, I would try to remember a little more.
I'll be here,
just in case you wish to say something more.
[suspenseful music]
Damion.
Damion, I can feel you here in this room.
Give me a sign that you hear me.
Damion!
Why won't you give me a sign?
I didn't k*ll you, Damion, I swear I didn't!
Why are you here in this house?
It's Bruno you should be after!
Not me, Bruno!
Do you hear me, Damion?
Are you here, Damion?
[bold trumpet music]
QUENTIN: Think you'll be safe in your room?
ANGELIQUE: Of course, this room has always
been a sanctuary to me.
QUENTIN: Well, when's all this going to end?
ANGELIQUE: Soon, Quentin, soon.
QUENTIN: You sound so confident.
I wish I could be.
Goodnight, Alexis.
ANGELIQUE: Goodnight.
[Angelique gasps and screams] Don't be frightened!
What do you want?
I like how you look.
I'm sorry, I always seem to be saying that.
It's proof of how much I miss her.
Do you?
She put passion in my music.
Though the critics don't realize it's gone yet.
Well, perhaps they never will.
You believe as she did?
That critics are wretched creatures,
deaf, but not mute?
Is it so surprising that Angelique and I
should share an opinion?
Well, you share many things.
That's why I'm here.
I came to apologize.
I truly believed that when you came into this house,
Angelique had returned.
I was wrong.
Well, I'm glad you finally see that.
BRUNO: Then we can be friends?
Friends?
Are you ever anyone's friend, Bruno?
I'm sorry, that was unkind.
You did take a risk in coming here.
I'm grateful for that.
I'll leave the way I came.
The way I always left after seeing her.
She found me charming, you know.
Perhaps, in time, I will, too.
[ominous music]
Please don't keep after me, sir.
Please don't.
If I knew the answer to Damion Edwards,
I'd give it to you, sir.
Well, maybe there is no answer, Trask.
Oh, sir.
You've got to find it, sir.
[eerie music]
[phone ringing]
Hello?
ANGELIQUE:Is it done, Aunt Hannah?
Yes.
You had no problems?
HANNAH:No, well, it wasn't very--
No, no. I don't want to hear anything about it.
You must come here, I need your help.
You were right about Damion Edwards.
I can do nothing about Damion.
His, his spirit is too powerful.
You can do nothing,
but I can.
HANNAH:Then do it.
And expose myself?
Oh, no.
Even Bruno accepts me now.
Even him.
I don't plan to take any chances.
They will think that you exorcised the ghost.
I will do it through you.
Don't make me do anything more tonight.
You must come now.
Quickly, before Quentin finds out.
[suspenseful music]
DAMION:Quentin.
Quentin Collins.
You must come to me.
You must know.
You must know.
QUENTIN: Where?
- Come. - Where?
What do you want me to know?
Where do you want me to go?
DAMION:I am at the door.
QUENTIN: What door?
DAMION:The last door you will enter.
Where, where?
DAMION:Do you feel my spirit?
Follow it,
follow it.
Yes,
yes.
Follow me,
follow me.
Follow me.
I am here, Quentin.
I am here, waiting.
Waiting.
You must see.
See?
See what?
Why can't I see you?
DAMION:Would that make you believe, Quentin?
Yes!
DAMION:Come to the door.
Come to the door.
[Quentin exhales shakily]
What do you want me to know?
I want, I want--
What?
I want for you to know--
To know what?
How it will end.
QUENTIN: Oh my god.
[creaking]
Yes, Quentin.
It is you.
[somber music]
QUENTIN VOICEOVER: "I had to do this
"to be with the one I love."
[Damion laughs]
[dramatic music]
[eerie music]
