NARRATOR:The great estate of Collinwood,

looking the same, but existing in another band of time.

A time similar to ours, but very different.

A time with Barnabas Collins captured,

chained in his coffin, unable to change

the strange events which swirl around him.

This night, there has been an attempt to recreate a seance,

the seance at which Angelique died,

and to everyone's horror, a voice from beyond the grave

tells them all that Angelique was m*rder*d.

Come on, you're going to be alright, Sabrina.

No, no.

Yes, you are.

What did I say?

You are.

What did I say?

Don't you remember?

No, tell me.

You had to go through with it, didn't you?

Quentin!

Angelique was not m*rder*d.

Is that what I said?

CYRUS: She died of a stroke.

What did I mean?

CYRUS: Look, isn't it possible, Quentin,

that whoever spoke to us through Sabrina

could know more about this than we do?

QUENTIN: No, it is not.

It's true.

I remember. It's true.

The voices told me Angelique was m*rder*d.

m*rder*d.

[dramatic music]

[mysterious whistling music]

You say she was m*rder*d.

Based on what evidence?

Sabrina, Sabrina, the voice that you heard.

Was this the same voice from the first seance?

QUENTIN: You believe her?

What have I done?

I am sorry, Mr. Collins.

And I'm sorry for you.

The voice you heard was imagined.

You were in shock.

No, I heard it.

I repeated what I heard.

QUENTIN: Sabrina, I don't believe in spirits or seances.

But others do.

Exactly.

And do you think I want or need the torment

you've brought to this house?

CYRUS: We're very sorry.

Alex is upset.

Elizabeth is crying and all for no reason.

Why are you so sure?

I won't let this talk start.

It's too late, Quentin.

It's already started.

Now, Sabrina, Sabrina, you have to tell me

everything you know.

SABRINA: I don't remember anything more.

You can hold nothing back.

Why should I hold anything back?

I don't know, but you have not told me everything.

SABRINA: I have, honestly.

There's something you haven't told me.

You were always so fascinated with Angelique.

You were.

It was she who talked to you about seances,

about other things.

I was jealous of her at first.

She was so beautiful, so alive.

You were attracted to her curiosity about everything,

but you also knew that she was cruel and demanding.

Cyrus, just how close were you to Angelique?

You see, you don't want to answer that, do you?

Did you k*ll her, Cyrus?

No!

Sabrina, how could you think such a thing?

I was suddenly afraid.

Sabrina.

Sabrina, I thought you said yesterday.

You said yesterday that you,

that you loved me because I was a gentle man.

Now if you said that yesterday,

you can't believe what you're saying now.

I do, but sometimes you're so fascinated with evil.

I loathe evil.

You know that.

I'd do anything in the world to get rid of it.

You are attracted to it.

You're fascinated with it.

That's why you loathe it so much.

That's nonsense, Sabrina.

It's nonsense, and I did not k*ll Angelique.

I believe you, but someone did.

Someone who was in that room.

Alright, they're gone now.

And don't be upset.

Have a brandy, it'll help you.

Look, I'm very sorry about all this.

You don't know how sorry.

I should've never let that seance take place.

Angelique was m*rder*d.

QUENTIN: Now you don't believe that.

The girl was in shock.

She had an attack of hysteria.

How can you explain it away so easily?

Now, Alexis, you can't take it serious.

Alexis.

Can't I, Quentin?

Because I don't believe that voices from the dead

know more than we do.

Was there an autopsy after my sister's death?

Yes, very simple.

It was a ruptured blood vessel in her brain.

She died of a stroke.

Of a stroke?

But she was too young for that.

Didn't you think so?

Yes, of course, everyone did.

Everyone accepted it?

Yes.

ALEXIS: Even our father?

He had no choice.

Our father always makes choices,

even if there isn't one.

He's a very suspicious man.

Didn't he come running right away as soon as he heard--

Yes, he loved your sister very much.

That's something you don't have to tell me.

I was the one he didn't love.

Who could've k*lled her, Quentin?

QUENTIN: No one.

Everyone at that table loved her?

Is that what you're telling me?

I told you that Angelique was not m*rder*d.

Yes, she was.

No!

Yes, Quentin, she was.

She was m*rder*d.

You know, you remind me very much of her just now,

the way you said that.

The way you moved your head, exactly the way you,

she used to when she got angry.

ALEXIS: She was angry a lot, Quentin, with you?

But I won't discuss Angelique and me.

Why not?

You know, I can't make up my mind anymore

whether you still love her.

It concerns no one but me.

Who could've k*lled her, Quentin?

I just told you that no one k*lled her.

ALEXIS: Who was it?

Now stop asking that, will you?

No, I won't stop it.

And I'm not going to leave Collinsport until I find out.

Alright, try and find out.

Now I'm telling you there's no truth in it.

Father.

QUENTIN: Daniel.

Why is Cousin Elizabeth crying?

Did Maggie do something to her?

No, Maggie had nothing to do with it.

She's, well, she's not here.

DANIEL: Has she gone away?

Yes, for a while.

But she's coming back.

QUENTIN: Yes, of course.

DANIEL: When?

I don't know, now it's time for your bed now.

Why don't you run upstairs, we'll talk about it tomorrow.

You haven't told me what's happened tonight.

Well, now, there's no need for you to know it.

Come on, I'll walk you upstairs.

Mother!

Mother, you've come back.

Mother, I knew you'd come back.

I knew you weren't dead.

QUENTIN: Daniel.

Daniel!

Now this is your Aunt Alexis, your mother's sister.

Now you heard your mother talk about her a great deal.

She's been in Europe.

She just arrived while you've been out of town.

DANIEL: Can't you see?

Now we know that she all resembles

your mother a great deal.

After all, she is her twin.

You're her twin?

Yes.

It's not true.

I don't believe it.

You're lying, why?

No, I'm not.

QUENTIN: Daniel.

You're both lying.

Why?

You'll never tell me.

You don't want to admit it.

I don't understand.

You'll never tell me.

Daniel, now come back here.

Quentin, wait, let me talk to him.

No, I'll take care of it.

Please let me, trust me with him.

CYRUS: Are you alright, now, Sabrina?

I think it's time to go.

CYRUS: No, no, no, not until you're fearless.

But you've been so patient with me.

How worrisome I've been to you.

What's wrong?

I, I understood.

How can you, when I don't even understand myself?

I remember seeing that figure in my room,

before I came here.

That's the last thing that I remember.

Do you remember anything more about it?

No.

And then, I can see the woods around this house.

It was if I were in some other kind of life.

Why did I come here, Cyrus?

If you understand, please tell me.

Sabrina, how did you feel when that figure

broke into your room?

SABRINA: I was terrified.

There was such a feeling of evil about him.

It was as if I were paralyzed.

Why did he come to my room?

Just don't, don't think about it.

But you asked me, Cyrus.

Yeah, I know, I know.

I just hate talking about it.

You see the police found him,

and you're going to hear about this, Sabrina.

They followed him and they saw him enter my house.

SABRINA: Well, then it is someone

that has a grudge against us.

No.

It must be.

Did he take anything?

No, and we will never hear of him or see him again.

How do you know that?

How can you tell?

Why would he take my engagement ring

when he took nothing from your lab?

I don't know.

SABRINA: We're still engaged.

CYRUS: I'm going to find that ring.

I'm going to find it, I know it.

Even without the ring, Cyrus, look at me.

Does it make a difference, what's happened tonight?

Does it make a difference, Cyrus?

After all, it should.

I'm your fiancee,

who goes into shock and behaves most strange.

Your mind went from evil to evil.

But that's odd enough.

No.

What if it happens again?

It won't happen.

Just leave everything to me,

and don't worry about anything anymore.

I'm, I'm going to make sure that you're never frightened

like this again.

[wind gusting]

[thunder rumbling]

You loved your mother very much, didn't you, Daniel?

Yes.

We fought, too.

It wasn't all mushy, but you know that.

I know so little about you.

Don't say that.

Daniel, you must accept the fact

that I am a different person.

Perhaps I can be some of the things that she was to you.

I wish you'd just let me think.

Call me Alexis, and then I'll go.

Just let me think.

I should go apologize to Mr. Collins again.

No, no, no, it's not necessary.

But it is.

He will never forget what happened in this room tonight.

He will remember it as long as I will.

He won't accept it, Sabrina.

But you do, and others will.

What have I started, Cyrus?

You haven't started anything.

It would've started.

It started long ago in that first seance.

But it would've never come up.

It would've come up, some place, some time.

What's going to happen?

Let's get out of here.

Cyrus, let's get out of here,

out of this house and never come back.

There is a evil here.

I can feel it still.

There is a terrifying evil here.

Yes, yes, the synthesis seemed to work well

with my compound, but when it was tested,

there are indications of a side effect, an unfortunate one.

It seemed to produce a loss of memory.

No, no, no, it doesn't matter what I tested it on.

I am calling to see if this has happened before.

You have no record of it, I see.

Is it possible for you to rework the synthesis,

eliminating what may have caused the amnesia?

Would you start on it tonight?

I'm most anxious.

Oh, good, good.

Oh, thank you.

Thank you very much.

Goodbye.

Daniel.

Now I don't want to be cruel, but I'm forced to be.

Then why do you have to pretend that

Your mother is dead.

Now listen, I'm sorry, I'm truly sorry,

but you're going to hurt yourself so very much more

by thinking that Alexis is anyone else other than

your mother's sister.

Do you understand that?

Promise me that you'll think about it.

Alright?

Good night.

Evening, sir.

Good evening.

What can I do for you?

I, I'd like a sherry, please.

Don't get much call for a Sherry in a place like this,

but we got some.

Have to open a bottle.

Haven't seen you around here before.

Haven't you?

First time here?

No, no, no, no, actually,

you didn't see me here last night?

BARTENDER: If I did, I don't remember.

That's no surprise considering the excitement.

Oh, oh what was it?

Did I miss something?

BARTENDER: This big bruiser came in.

Big?

BARTENDER: Pockets loaded with money.

What did he look like?

Maybe I saw him when I left.

Tough, rugged.

Not the kind of guy you want to meet on an empty street,

believe me, or anywhere else.

Stood right where you are.

Threw a hundred dollar bill on the table.

Wanted a bottle of scotch, an unopened bottle.

And you gave it to him?

That was mistake number one.

Why he, I never saw a man drink like that.

He must've had half the bottle.

Got meaner with every slug.

He got meaner, you say?

You know Jake Crowley?

Yeah, I thought he was going to break Jake Crowley's arm.

Why, I tell you, it was a.

Jake's the friendliest guy.

Why, he'll, he'll talk to anyone.

At least he would until last night.

Guess he won't again.

One word and this guy started arguing with him.

Before I knew it, he had Jake's arm behind his back.

That's dreadful.

Yeah, I came around the bar to break it up and whamo!

I never got hit like that before in my life.

Three guys jumped him.

He shook them off, like they were kids.

He grabbed Leftie Blane, threw him through that window.

Just got it fixed today.

You don't know what caused this?

We know who caused it, alright.

This guy, he was nuts.

After he threw Leftie, he just stood there

and dared anyone to tackle him.

No one did.

And then he straightened his coat out and laughed

this crazy laugh,

and then he walked out,

leaving all that money on the bar, too.

Oh brother, I don't want to be here

when he comes back for it.

Yes, well, I expect that he will not be back.

Oh, he will, he will.

No, he won't.

I am most grateful for, you've been very informative.

Thank you very much.

Goodnight.

You didn't drink your sherry.

ANGELIQUE VOICEOVER:Daniel.

Oh, Daniel.

Daniel?

Mother?

Are you in this room?

[laughing]

Don't laugh at me.

Please don't laugh at me.

Just let me see you again.

I thought I saw you today.

ANGELIQUE VOICEOVER: Do you see me, Daniel?

Well, where are you?

ANGELIQUE VOICEOVER: Look toward the window.

DANIEL: I can't move.

Of course, you can, darling.

I can't, I can't.

Come to me, Mother.

Please come to me.

Don't go away.

Mother.

Mother!

Mother!

[laughing]

Mother, don't laugh at me.

[laughing]

Don't laugh at me.

Please.

Don't laugh.

Don't laugh.

Don't laugh.

ALEXIS: Daniel!

Don't. Daniel, what is it?

What's the matter?

A dream, it was just a dream.

Oh, my darling, poor darling.

You'll be all right.

Only, only.

Only what?

Only, you've got to promise something.

Promise you what?

That you won't lie to me.

Oh, of course not.

That you'll always tell me the truth.

You promise?

Yes, yes, I promise.

I won't tell a soul.

I swear.

You won't tell anyone what?

Remember you promised.

Well, you really are my mother, aren't you?

You really are.

Tell me, please.
