[Willie narrating] - Night over the great estate of Collinwood,

a night different from all others,

for Collinwood is deserted, except for the evil spirits

who freely roam the halls,

still obsessed by the children who are key

to the ghosts' mysterious actions,

and in an old house on the estate,

a governess checking her charges

makes a horrifying discovery.

- Barnabas! Barnabas!

- What is it, Maggie?

- The children! - What about them?

- The children, they're gone! They're gone!

I went up to David's room and - and he wasn't in his bed.

- Did you check everywhere?

- Yes. I went to Amy's room and she was gone, too.

Barnabas, I know where they are!

I know!

- Now, we mustn't assume that, Maggie,

until we've checked every room in this house.

- Barnabas, I found this in David's room.

Now, it wasn't there earlier.

That means that Quentin has - has sent for them.

They're in Collinwood with him.

[eerie music] ♪♪

- Now, are you absolutely certain that David and Amy

didn't bring this telephone with them?

- Yes, Barnabas. I remember.

I left it in my room and - and then,

I remember seeing it the last time when I closed the door,

but then, Amy said that it was gone.

That means that - that Quentin, he took it and -

and somehow, he brought it here.

- In some way, Quentin communicates with them

through this.

- Yes, Barnabas.

I know that sounds mad, but I'm positive that he does.

- All right.

- Barnabas, let me go with you.

- No. Now, you won't be safe in that house.

We must try one of the windows.

We'll have to try one of the windows.

Go try one of the side windows.

- We're dealing with spirits, not human beings. - What?

In the time being, we will have to live through it.

They couldn't hear anything over this.

a passage leading from this room.

a place I haven't found.
