[Ben narrating] - The secrets of time and space

are no longer a mystery to one man at Collinwood.

Barnabas Collins has known this house for almost years.

Now, he has gone back to it as it was in the year .

He has embarked on a daring and dangerous plan

to change the events

of one twenty-four hour period in history.

[clock chiming]

- Forbes!

- Where are you?

- Over here, Forbes.

- Barnabas, where are you?

- Forbes, over here.

- What are you trying to do to me?

- What are you afraid of, Forbes?

- Come out and let me see you!

Barnabas, listen to me.

Whatever happened couldn't be helped!

What - what are you doing?

What is it?

Why don't you show yourself?

Ah!

[eerie music] ♪♪

Ugh, don't. Don't k*ll me.

Don't - please. Please, don't k*ll me.

I didn't - I didn't want your mother to die!

until I know exactly what's going to happen to me.

without having to resort to k*lling you.

We are going to take him into Collinsport

and turn him over to the authorities.

- Won't that be dangerous? - No.

- He won't tell anyone.

He is far too afraid and his willpower is gone.

We are going to take you in to see the constable.

You won't forget your instructions.

No one forced me to sign that confession.

- Forbes is safely in jail.

They are going to release Peter Bradford later tonight.

- What about Ms. Winters?

- I'm afraid that the confession wasn't enough to help Vicki.

- But Forbes admitted that he lied at the trial.

- But the magistrate thinks that there is far too much

other incriminating evidence.

- What are we going to do now?

- I don't know.

- Mr. Barnabas, we've only got about two hours.

- I know that, Ben.

- What are you going to do?

- Stay here.

- What for?

- Never mind, just go Ben, back to Collinwood.

- You made a promise -- - Now, please do as I say.

Go back to Collinwood and wait for me.

and I wanted to find out what you had done.

There is such a frightful draft in this place.

Have you noticed it, Nathan?

- Millicent, please,

you've got to listen to me and try, please try,

to understand what I am going to tell you.

- Yes. Yes, I will.

Although sometimes, I think that my problem

has been that I've understood you only too well.

Which makes me wonder,

why am I always willing to listen to you?

- Good evening. - Good evening.

- I was afraid your friend wasn't going to leave.

- I see.

- But now that we are alone, why don't we get acquainted?

My name's Crystal, what's yours?

- Is it necessary to give you my name?

- Well, I don't know how we can get acquainted,

if you don't.

down at Collins wharf

going in and out of your father's office.

- Now, listen to me.

- I knew you, but you didn't know me.

Fancy this, me meeting Mr. Barnabas Collins,

oh, wait until I tell the girls at the Eagle!

- Unfortunately, you're not going to tell anyone.

- What do you mean by that?

Why are you looking at me like that?

- Nathan, you still haven't explained to me why you're here.

What did you do that made them put you in jail?

- Millicent, you haven't been listening.

You haven't heard one word that I've said.

- Yes I have.

But I'm not sure that what you said makes any sense.

- Now, you've just got to take my word for it.

You've just got to trust me. Please.

- I did that before, Nathan.

And I was sorry.

- Now, we've got to forget the past, Millicent.

We've got to make a new start.

- But, before we do it,

something must be done about Barnabas.

That's the part I don't understand.

Nathan, I was so sure Barnabas was dead.

- Oh, now, Millicent,

you just told me that you saw him take me

out of the house tonight.

- Well, then, he couldn't very will be dead then,

could he?

But why did we all think he was?

- Because of what's happened to him.

What he has become.

- Oh!

Oh it's so - so terribly confusing.

- Millicent, listen to me.

I can't tell you why.

But Barnabas is trying to k*ll me.

You've got to help me.

- How?

- I can tell you how Barnabas can be destroyed,

but you've got to promise me

that you will do something about it.

Will you, Millicent? Please? For me?

- I will try, Nathan.

- All right.

You must go back to Collinwood.

You must find a wooden stake and a hammer.

Then you must go to the tower room during the day.

- The tower room?

- Millicent, the tower room, that's where he sleeps

during the day in a coffin.

Now, Millicent, you must take the stake

and you must drive it through his heart.

Do you understand?

- I think so. - Will you do it, Millicent?

- Nathan, I said I would try.

- Barnabas must be destroyed before it's too late!

- It's getting very chilly in here, Nathan.

I - I must go back to Collinwood now.

I'll come and see you again tomorrow.

[door opening]

- I was afraid something happened to you this time.

- I didn't think what would be like being this way again.

- I had forgotten how overwhelming

this urge for blood could be

and how helpless I would be to resist it.

- Mr. Barnabas, are you feeling all right?

- No, Ben and I won't until I do what I came back to do.

- We've only got an hour to save Ms. Winters. - I know, Ben.

- How are we going to do it?

- Perhaps, we will have to use force.

- You mean help her escape from jail? - Yes.

- We'll never get away with it, Mr. Barnabas.

The jail is too well guarded.

- I will have to have a few minutes to think about it, Ben.

- There ain't no more time -- - Give me a few minutes, Ben.

I will be in my father's study.
