24x04 - How Are You Gonna Keep 'Em Off of the Farm?

including Mew.

This is the story of their adventure-filled journey

through the world of Pokémon.

[camera shutter clicks]

[Ash] Whoa! Check out all the veggies!

They look tasty, right?

They're straight from the farm, so they still need to be washed.

Wow!

[narrator] They're for Professor Cerise,

sent with a letter from Laxton, a former student

who has been farming for the past two years.

Laxton writes that a group of Diglett and Dugtrio

have suddenly appeared on his farm,

and they're causing big problems.

[chimes]

[Rotom phone] Diglett. The Mole Pokémon. A Ground type.

Diglett gnaws on roots below ground.

Depending on the kind of vegetables,

it can cause great damage to a harvest.

[chimes]

Dugtrio. The Mole Pokémon.

A Ground type, and the evolved form of Diglett.

These three make an excellent team.

[both chuckle]

We'd love to go investigate them.

I'd love to catch a Diglett and a Dugtrio.

That's what I hoped you'd say.

[Yamper yapping]

[Yamper panting]

-[Goh] Huh? Chloe? -Good morning.

I think Chloe would be a big help

with your research on this trip.

[Ash and Goh laugh]

Be sure to give Laxton my best.

-[Voltorb growls] -[Eevee shrieks]

[Rotom phone] Voltorb. The Ball Pokémon.

An Electric type. Voltorb appears in places

where electricity is generated, and it resembles a Poké Ball.

[Laxton] Hold it! I'm so sorry! This is my partner!

[gasps] You're Laxton!

Nice to see you, Chloe. Thanks for coming all this way.

-It's been a long time! -[Laxton] And my, how you've grown!

Back when I was researching at Cerise Lab,

-Are you kidding? -No, I mean, I guess I knew,

but this is the first time I ever saw them growing on the vine.

And the aroma is out of this world.

Now that's just what I like to see!

The whole reason I got into farming

was for smiles just like that.

Research and farming both exist to help make people happy.

-[Ash] It's yummy! Thank you! -[Goh] I could eat a ton of these!

-Hm, and this is great soil! -[Laxton] Oh, you noticed?

Sure, I'm in charge of flowers at my school.

A tip, I gather old shells that Golem have shed,

then grind them up to use as a fertilizer.

[Laxton] This is the biggest field we have on Laxton Farm.

Right now, we have carrots planted here, but…

So it's getting rid of weeds?

Yeah. It's so much better at it than I am.

I really depend on it.

[Ash] You're really good, aren't you?

[Ash and Pikachu screaming]

Yeah, I'm used to that sort of thing.

[rustling]

-Diglett. -[Goh] It is! A Diglett!

[Chloe] Unbelievable!

[Goh] There's one! Over there, too!

[Diglett chittering]

[Diglett chittering continues]

Wow, so many Diglett!

Seeing is believing.

I don't have the faintest idea what happened,

but the Diglett just started appearing in my fields.

[Laxton] Voltorb keeps watch as best as it can,

but there are so many.

It's harvest time, but if this keeps up,

the carrot crop we worked so hard to grow will be a total loss.

[Voltorb panting]

So that's why I contacted Professor Cerise

to see if he could help me.

All right, we've gotta do something about all the Diglett.

Battling will scare them off.

Catching them, too!

[Ash and Goh gasp]

-Where'd they go? -[Pikachu] Pika?

Ha! They're hiding underground.

-See? -[chitters]

Wow, you're right!

You can pull up as many carrots as you need,

if it means you'll catch some Diglett.

It's just about harvest time, anyway.

-Okay! Let's get down to it! -Yeah!

[grunts, chuckles]

-Hey, this is kind of fun! -Eevee!

It's only natural to get muddy doing farm work.

[muttering]

-Like that would ever happen! -[snickers]

-[all] Dig, dig, dig! -[whoosh]

[Ash and Goh groan] No.

-[Chloe] They got away. -[Ash] Yeah.

[Goh sighs] Total fail.

[Laxton] I managed to harvest quite a lot, thanks to you!

[Ash, Chloe and Goh] Okay.

[Chloe] Who's that Pokémon?

[Ash] I kind of get the feeling that the Dugtrio was the leader.

[Goh] Yeah, if we could catch it,

the rest of the Diglett would probably stop coming back.

-Pika? -[Chloe] I was thinking about something.

What's that?

It was as if the Dugtrio and Diglett were coordinating

to determine where they should go.

But on the other hand, we were pretty disorganized,

so maybe that's why we couldn't keep up.

-Maybe. -You're talking about teamwork.

So what if one person had a view of the entire field

and told the others where to go?

If anyone can handle that, Chloe can!

-He's right! -Hold on. Do you mean me?

and predict where the Dugtrio will be.

Then I'll relay that to Goh and Ash.

I also thought we could use those flags as a reference point.

-[Goh] Yeah! -[calls]

-Eevee. -A Diglett!

It's heading straight toward the blue flag!

[boys gasp]

[Chloe] It's right there! You're close!

-[Pikachu] Pika! -[Ash] Gotcha!

-Now it's my turn! Go! -[whooshes]

[Chloe gasps] The red flag!

[Goh] I caught a Dugtrio!

-[laughs] -We did it!

[Ash and Goh gasp]

Wow. I can't thank you enough! That was some amazing teamwork!

-[laughs] -Happy to help!

I hope this means the Diglett will stay away from now on.

Yeah, but I'm not too sure.

They seem to have gone somewhere else for now, but…

I wonder why the Dugtrio and Diglett

chose this particular field to hang around in.

They used to live on a hill not too far from here.

And they never came into my farm before.

[Chloe] If we investigate that hill, we might learn something.

-Right. Let's check it out! -[Ash, Chloe and Goh] Yeah!

[Pikachu] Pika, pika!

[groans] This isn't gonna work.

But it feels so warmish and good!

There's nothing quite like a little comfy sunshine snooze.

[Wobbuffet] Wobbuffet.

[Meowth] We came here, because we're supposed to find the Twerps,

but all you do is nap!

[Jessie] But country air and wide-open spaces

make me feel like I couldn't care less about stress!

[Meowth] Yeah, but while you're lollygagging around like a bump on a log,

our grub supplies and tummies are running on empty!

Oy.

All right, it's high time I showed you my stuff!

The Meowth Mark Two Frenzied Farmer!

[growls]

[whirring]

[splashes]

[waterdrops pattering]

[exclaims]

[Meowth] They've gotten oodles of H O, but they're just lying there!

If that's the deal,

then it's time to strike up the band!

[loud music playing]

Music helps plants grow up big and strong, you know?

-[all groan] -Turn it off! It's too loud!

So that's why the Diglett and Dugtrio ran away!

[both grunting]

What do you think you're doing?

[all gasp]

Prepare for trouble. Accept your fate.

And make it double, it's never too late!

To protect the world from devastation.

To unite all people within our nation.

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

To extend our reach to the stars above.

-Jessie! -And James!

Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!

So, it's Twerp time! [snickers]

[Ash] So you guys chased the Diglett off of this hill!

Well, we were in the middle of a nice nap,

and you Little Twerps had to ruin it.

This farm thing is becoming a big bore!

Although napping's nice and nifty,

old-fashioned stealing's where we shine.

And Pikachu happens to be on our to-steal list.

I haven't the foggiest idea what's happening!

[Ash, Chloe and Goh] Let's dig in!

[Laxton] Please, eat as much as you like!

I rustled us up a huge feast with all the carrots we picked!

[Goh] Look at all the carrots in that curry!

[Chloe] And the carrot cake looks yummy!

-[Ash] Seconds? -Sure!

[Pokémon chittering in distance]

Dugtrio.

[Diglett calling]

[Goh gasps]

Look! Those are all the Diglett who were following Dugtrio.

-[Dugtrio] Dugtrio! -[Diglett] Diglett! Diglett!

That makes sense.

The Diglett would be in big trouble without their leader.

[chuckles]

[Goh] Here! I'll leave Dugtrio with you.

Huh? You don't mind?

Don't forget, I've got this one with me.

Besides, I did a bunch of research.

[Rotom phone chimes]

[Rotom phone] When Dugtrio moves through soil,

the soil becomes extremely aerated,

which is excellent for farming.

It has been reported to be quite useful for agriculture.

-Wow! -That's why I was thinking

it might be a very good partner for you and your farm, Laxton.

That makes sense.

In fact, I bet it would be better than a hundred farmhands.

I plan on growing a lot of delicious vegetables!
