[narrator] During training

for their grand trial.

Ash and Pikachu were battling Tapu Koko

when they endured

an overwhelming discharge

that sent them

to a mysterious town in ruins.

There they encountered a vicious Guzzlord

who would devour anything in its path.

They also met Dia and Zeraora

who vowed to defeat Guzzlord.

-[gasps]

-Pika.

Something wrong?

Zera.

Look at that.

Is that the...?

The Pokémon school?

-Huh?

-Pika!

[cracks]

[gasps]

Huh?

It really is!

This is our school.

-You sure?

-Yeah.

-We were there yesterday.

[gasps]

think of them like this.

A road splits into a fork.

This way is A. This way is B.

You may want to travel both, but you can't

take both paths at the same time.

But let's say you were able to.

Those would be parallel worlds.

The road can fork again and yet again.

With each fork,

a new parallel world is created.

You and I existed in two different worlds,

but some sort of accident occurred

and you, somehow,

ended up appearing in my world.

Man, I'm not getting this at all!

Okay, let's try a different approach.

Ten years ago, there was an incident that

changed the future of Melemele Island.

Someone bought up most of the land

and performed a reckless experiment

that turned this once-lush island

into dust.

The forests, waters,

and even the air were polluted.

Then there was the fateful day

when Guzzlord appeared.

If you make a mistake on your path,

the parallel world that you came from

may end up meeting the same fate

as this world.

[splashes]

Homesick?

No, I don't think so.

I miss my friends from the Pokémon school.

That's what it means to be homesick.

[Ash groans]

The Pokémon school was really fun.

We were always playing. Always laughing.

Always having battles with each other.

[Ash gasps]

Eventually, we were battling it together.

That second face above its huge mouth.

If we hit it with a Plasma Fists move

to push it into an Ultra Wormhole,

it might work.

At least that's what we thought.

So, what happened?

We couldn't get past

its powerful defenses.

[roaring]

Using a Z-Move could do the trick.

This world once had the use of Z-Moves,

but then this happened.

After nature was destroyed,

especially after Tapu Koko vanished,

we could no longer use Z-Moves.

We were abandoned

by all of Alola's Island Guardians.

-Dia...

-You can relax.

Even without the Island Guardians,

there's no way I'm ever going to give up.

[laughs]

Okay, Pikachu, time to do some training!

Pika!

-Ready? Hit this can with your attacks!

-Pika!

All right! Electroweb, go!

[rumbles]

Now use Thunderbolt!

back to its home world!

First thing, we draw it toward us!

[Dia] Once we've got it near the Wormhole,

we'll hit it with an Electroweb

and that ought to hold it down!

Then use Thunderbolt and Plasma Fists

on its weak spot!

[Dia] This way!

[yelling]

[grunts] Oh, no, Ash!

Stay still!

[grunting]

[both gasp]

[gasping]

-Pikachu!

-I'm fine.

Good. Let's go.

[panting]

-[Ash] the Ultra Wormhole!

-[Dia] It's getting smaller!

If it keeps shrinking to the point

where it disappears...

[Dia] We'll never be able to send Guzzlord

back to its home.

[all gasp]

[growling]
