EMILY BIEBERLY: Koban.

THAIS RAMONE: Previously on

[KOBE BIASE SPEAKING] Who is that?

[SPEAKING]

I know, he's so cute.

[SPEAKING]

OK, open your eyes.

[MOHAMED SPEAKING]

There's one thing that I didn't get
done and it's the bidet.

[CHUCKLES NERVOUSLY] All right.

I was thinking, I really want to get
my computer.

KARA BASS: We have to make sure that
you have the things you need,

not want, need.

We're on a tight budget right now.

We also have to make
sound decisions.

So you're the boss.

Get out of here. PATRICK MENDES:
My big brother John and I had,

like, a bachelor pad-type of setup.

[IN PORTUGUESE]

But that will all change
when my fiancee moves in next week.

Hey, Thais. [IN PORTUGUESE]

When we're all together,
it's gonna be a test.

Blood's thicker than water, right?

[IN PORTUGUESE]

[ALL SPEAKING IN OTHER LANGUAGE]

[BINIYAM SHIBRE IN ENGLISH]

I understand you have not
been married. Mm-hm.

And you don't have any children.

I want kids. What about you, Bilal?
Erm...

Just be up-front
because I need to be sure

of when and if
he's gonna have kids.

And there's no way
I'm going to get married

without having that conversation.

Well, Koban just took
a super late nap. All right.

I have to pump
cos he's passed out.

[SPEAKING]

Do you feel like it's so weird...
Hey... that you're here right now?

Earlier today, Kobe finally met
our son for the first time.

So it's been a very long,
very emotional day for everyone.

[BREAST PUMP PUMPING]

What, me pumping here
in the living room?

You're the only one...
Do you think...

[SPEAKING]

Because I don't need to go
to the basement to pump.

I don't think Kobe's
ever seen anyone pump before.

So to him it was very strange.

My family knows
my breastfeeding journey was hard,

it was super difficult for me.

So the fact that
I'm able to produce milk now,

when I wasn't in the beginning,
I'm really proud of it.

I'm not ashamed to do it
in front of my family,

I'm not gonna go downstairs.

Do they not pump in Africa?

You've never seen anyone
pump before.

[SPEAKING]

So you think I should
pump in private

when I don't even breastfeed
in private?

Well, I don't think he really cares.

OK, whatever, Kobe.

Why don't you have a seat
instead of standing there awkwardly?

Yeah, I don't want to get in the
middle of a first discussion here.

Oh, my God. Discussion about
my boobs.

No, that's all right,
I just, you know...

[SPEAKING]

We do things
a little bit different here,

I mean, I don't see anything
wrong with this so. See?

Nothing wrong with it.

And that's normal?

Yeah. I can't just cut him off.

Because he wants that
bond that Koban and I have

because it is such a
bond, you know? Yeah.

Breastfeeding is a big bond
and I understand that but it's like

I am not going to take that
away just because you're here.

Erm, not in America.

Longer the better.
See? Longer the better.

I think Kobe was
wrong completely.

I mean it's, erm,
it's perfectly natural

for Emily to want to do
what she needs to do

to pump the milk and, you
know, she's still breastfeeding

and that's pretty natural here.
I was kind of surprised to hear

that it's not that
common where he's from.

I was...

..ready to jump in if I had to.

He was kind of pretty
strong-willed, pretty forceful, and...

And it's disappointing. Yeah.

[LAUGHING] What?

Our son. [SPEAKING]

Mm-hm. Yeah. Seems
to be doing pretty good.

[SPEAKING]

OK? We still have 90 days,

we could get into a
lot more fights. I know.

We're having this first fight

about the breastfeeding
and the pumping.

It was kind of awkward that,
you know, it got brought up today

and in front of my parents,
like, I don't like that.

I mean, this is day one.

Who knows what's gonna
happen on day 22, you know?

If this already is happening.

Why don't you just go help
cook dinner with my mom?

[SPEAKING]

All right?

SHAEEDA: So I've been
here for a couple of days

and so far I have
met Bilal's family,

and, oh, yes, I've
also met his new home.

This house is heaven.

It's completely
modern, it's spacious.

This is like a dream come true.

And although the excitement
and joy have me on cloud nine,

I do see that there
are still a lot of things

that we need to figure out
before we even get marry.

ZAYNAH HAZZIEZ: So excited.

YUSUF: I'm excited,
but I'm nervous.

BILAL: A little nervous? I guarantee
she's more nervous than you are though.

SHAEEDA: Today, I'm
going to meet Bilal's children.

His children, they are the apple
of his eye, they mean a lot to him.

So I feel as if I need to
have his kids liking me.

You know, I want to show Bilal
like, "Yes, I'm ready for motherhood,"

and my relationship
cannot be successful

if I don't get along
with Bilal's children.

[DOORBELL RINGING]

Shaeeda. [IN ARABIC]

[IN ENGLISH] Here she is.

[ALL LAUGHING]

[ZAYNAH IN ARABIC]

It's nice to meet
you. Come in here, hi.

You smell good.

Oh, family hug.

[CHUCKLING]

Shaeeds, so how are
you doin'? I'm good.

Putting back things were
they were. You're good?

So y'all finally get to
meet each other. I know.

Yeah. You guys want
some snacks or somethin'?

Can we have some
snacks? YUSUF: Yeah. Sure.

I think Shaeeda's gonna be an
amazing bonus mom for my children.

[CHUCKLES]

But there's always a little
worry in the back of your head,

my children have to like
the person that I'm with.

Like, that's first and
foremost. For me personally,

Shaeeda would not be here
if my kids did not like her.

Like, I don't think I'd say
it's even a remotely an option.

[ALL CHUCKLING]

Is that a real nose ring? No.

No. I have a nose ring, but I
just left my nose ring in Trinidad.

Mm. But, you know, buy
one here. Oh, OK, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, you could see she's
like you. She likes to bling

the accessories. Yes.

I think we will get
along quite well.

We kind of like the
same type of stuff. So...

You as well, Yusuf.

So...

[CHUCKLES]

She is kind of what
I expected her to be.

Cos my dad did tell us
that she's a shy person.

You know, I need to know
more about her, erm... Right.

..but she seems like
a cool person so far.

So would you like to play
any games downstairs,

like pool or maybe like
basketball or something?

Right now? Yeah.

Well... [ALL CHUCKLE]

I'm not into games.

Really? I'm not into games,
I don't play games at all.

Would you guys feel
bad if I say not today?

Nah.

Yeah, right.

Yeah. OK, you
guys b*at me to it.

This is not the type
of thing I do for fun.

I am not a game person.

When it comes to
game night back home

I am always that one relative

who is just on standby
looking at the game.

I'd be like, "No, I'm good.
I'll watch you guys play."

Nah. [CHUCKLES]

I like to stick with what I
know rather than try new things.

But for the sake of Bilal's
children I will go ahead and do it.

So that he can see that I'm trying
to build a relationship with the kids.

You guys have to teach me
this. I don't know anything about it.

So you have stripes
and solids, right? OK.

So he's gonna
break. How about...

Mm. Yep.

Nothing really went in,

so now would be my
turn. Yeah. Stripes.

What do you guys call
your mother's husband?

Like, uncle, or his first
name, brother, what?

His first name. His first
name. Oh, really? Yeah.

What do you want us to call you?

Maybe one day, Umi?

Umi? Yeah.

[SPEAKING] Yeah,
it's just a tone of respect.

You know, it's like kids
normally say it in my country.

Yeah.

Which ball are you going for?

Shaeeda says she wants us to
call her Umi, which means mother.

I definitely take
that in consideration,

but honestly, I don't know
how to feel about that.

Still getting adjusted
to the whole...

..new wife. It's
gonna take a while.

Right now, I think I'll
just call her Shaeeda.

Yep, me too. We'll
see how it goes.

Yeah, I would say whether it's
Umi or anything else that we can

think that'll be a kind of
fun, you know, cool name.

Er, but also something
that's comfortable.

Right. You know, for you guys.

In my culture, when you
have like a bonus mom,

we normally refer to
that person as Umi.

And it's a title of love
and concern and respect.

Do you...

..want any kids?

Eventually. When you said
eventually, how long is eventually?

That is a question your
dad needs to answer, not me.

Well, they're asking you
questions not me, young lady.

Dad, do you want more kids?

Would you like another
brother and sister?

I don't know about
that. A brother.

Brother? No more sisters.

Well, you know, I would say...

..we will, we'll think
about it more, you know.

You know, but we'll try to

decide if that's something
in the future, you know?

We'll see. I think it's definitely
at least something in the future.

She definitely wants
it to be in the future.

More like sooner,
sooner. [CHUCKLING]

But, yeah, we'll have
to see about that. Yeah.

Yeah, we'll see. Yeah.

position:50% ARIELA: So we just arrived in JFK.

And we're in New York City,
Bini, right? New York City.

We dreamed about
this day for a long time.

When we'd be able to
come here, right? 'Course.

[SPEAKING GIBBERISH]

So this is the next
journey of our life together.

[BABY BABBLING] [SPEAKING]

I'm ready.

JANICE: Oh, my God. I'm so
excited, I can't wait to see these guys.

I can't wait to see
how big the baby got.

He's a man already.

What do you think they're
gonna think of this sign?

Everybody needs a
crazy mother-in-law.

He may run back into
the plane. [CHUCKLES]

I am very excited.

I haven't seen Avi
and Ari in ten months.

In fact, I met
Biniyam only once.

Good to see you, Biniyam.

Very much so.

This doesn't look
easy, you know, in the...

And I'm not taking any
bets on this, I don't know.

I certainly have concerns,
so hopefully it works out.

International arrivals.

We're gonna fight over
the baby. I get him first. No.

[CHUCKLING] No.

Just because he looks
like you? Exactly. OK.

Oh, my God. I have, like,
major butterflies in my stomach.

How do you feel right now?

Hungry. I'm just too
excited to be hungry.

What do you think he's
gonna think of the food?

Better than expected.

I mean, I think he'll
love cheeseburgers,

Philly, er, cheesesteaks.

I just want him to feel
happy when he gets here.

I'm a little bit worried.

Couple of months ago, I thought...
They weren't gonna make it?

I didn't think he'd make
it to the United States.

My thing is like, like, how...

How is Biniyam gonna
do in the US, and then...

It's a different relationship.

So you're in his
country, and Ari is, like,

she went out of her way to
learn the culture, learn the food.

She even got the baby baptized,

which was way out of
her wheelhouse, right?

So when he gets here,
what's he gonna do

to, like, dig into her
culture, and if he doesn't,

how is that gonna affect the
relationship, you know what I mean? Like...

Like, he... he really needs to
do his part when he gets here.

If he really wants to have
a relationship with Ari.

Because you know Ari, she
always has very high expectations.

This is bigger for
him than it was for Ari.

I mean, Ari had lived in
Argentina for four years

before she... before
she came back.

Yeah. She has to remember
that he's gotta get used to this.

Like, she's gotta give
him a sh*t to get used to

being in a totally
different environment

with no friends or family.

He had to give everybody up...

..to come to the United States.

I'm a little worried about
him. Hopefully he can adjust.

You know, he doesn't
know anybody here,

but we gotta make sure
he meets the right people

and, you know, he stays
on a... on a good path.

It's gonna be hard, but he
doesn't like us interfering

with their relationship,
you know?

Ari calls me a lot and talks to me.
Sometimes I think that really pisses him off.

If that pisses him off,
he'll be pissed off...

For a long time,
yeah... a lot of the time.

That's a thing that's giving
me anxiety and butterflies.

Ari calls me every time
something happens.

Like if they have an
argument, or if he's gone,

and he doesn't
call her and stuff.

So, like, he's not gonna
have anybody to lean on.

I think it might piss
him off a little bit that

she depends on her
family so much, so,

being that we're gonna
be living near each other

and in the same town every day,

I wanna be as involved as I can

because I still think
we got, like, 50-50,

we don't know how he's gonna be.

And I don't know what to expect.

Let's go, we're waiting for you.

Do you wanna do Dancey Dancey?

Maybe we can sing and
he'll feel more comfortable.

Yeah. Do you know the
words to his new song?

No, Dancey Dancey,
that's it. My... My...

I don't know. If we dance, they
might both go back to Ethiopia.

Avi, Bini, Bini. Can, can...

Maybe if we yell at them
enough, they'll show up.

Oh, my God. Hey. ARIELA: Hi.

Ari, Ari.

Come on, Ar, I need a hug.
Oh, my God. I'm so excited.

Oh, you look great, you
look great. How was the flight?

Good. You guys are
tired, right? I'm tired.

Oh, my God. Let me
see this guy over here.

[SPEAKING]

Oh, my God, Biniyam.
You're here, you made it. Yes.

Did you like the sign we
made for you? Yeah, I like it.

That's for you.
Welcome to the US.

Finally, I'm here
and I'm so happy.

For me, it's very...

Very excited for me.

It's so exciting you
lose your English.

Yeah, because I'm so happy,

like, nervous, that's
why I lose my English.

OK, hug Dad. Oh.

It's good, you work out.
Yeah, I working out. I'm ready.

Those muscles are
there? Yeah, still there.

Avster, Avster.

Avi, yeah? Do you
want these glasses?

Oh, put them on him. Oh,
my God, he's so adorable.

Oh, my God. I am
just on cloud nine.

I feel like I don't know
whether to cry, jump, or run, I...

I'm blown away by Ari and
Biniyam, the way they look,

and the baby got so big.

Was it hard to fly
all those hours?

Yeah, yeah, very
hard. Oh, my God.

I'm so tired for flights. Yeah.

I didn't sleep very well. Like almost over

He was taking care of the baby,
I was like... [SNORES] Yeah.

Do you need [SNORES] my help?

And just I take
care of the baby.

The baby's crying, changing
diaper, everything's changed, like...

Such a good dad, yeah.

You want to push him, Dad? I do.

I do, I'm good at the pushing.

Now that they're here today,

I'm just trying to enjoy
just the day, but, you know,

our way of thinking is sort
of like, "OK, what's next?"

Like, what are they gonna
do, and how is he gonna like it,

and what's he gonna
do when he's here.

So I have to stop myself today

and think about just enjoying
their company for the day.

Oh, my God, Avster. Do you
remember Grandma? Look at this sign.

Now this is a world-class sign right
here. Do you remember Grandma?

I wanted Biniyam
to feel, like, welcome,

but I wanted you to know
that you're in for craziness.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cos
you saw my glasses.

We have a very crazy
family... Yeah, yeah.

..and you'll have
to get used to it.

I hope by moving to
US, we can start fresh.

Just only when it's Ari's family,
it's good for me or it's bad for me.

I guarantee you, no one is
going to throw wine in your face.

I know. I hope so.

So what do you want
to show Biniyam first, Ar?

Oh, Princeton. No, no,
but I mean, on the way.

We gotta... We have
to show him the skyline.

..point out all the cool stuff
in New York, right? Yeah.

Now that we're finally
here in the US together,

I'm feeling excited and hopeful.

But the thing that I'm
most worried about

is that we think
we're starting fresh,

but maybe the problems we had
before are just gonna follow us.

And we could end up
being worse off than before.

So I'm here with
Avi. Oh. Here we go.

I'm usually a pretty good
judge of character, so...

If that's his
intentions, I'll know.

Well, it was really nice
to meet you, Guillermo.

I'm gonna keep my
eyes on you. Oh, OK.

Babe, you awake? I
gotta get going soon.

MOHAMED: My first
morning in America,

and it's very quiet here.

I usually wake up in Egypt

from someone outside, like,
"Tomatoes! Tomatoes!" in the microphone.

[BOTH LAUGH] You know?

Mm.

I can't believe
you're in my bed.

It was, like, the best
day and best night.

Still like a dream. [LAUGHS]

After two years,

it's definitely a night that
I've always dreamed of,

to wake up with my
beautiful king in my bed.

It's really special morning.

Well, get rest while you can,
because we didn't really rest last night

[LAUGHS] very much at all. Yeah.

Got a cardio in already
and everything. [LAUGHS]

I'm sorry I have to leave. I don't
wanna leave you. [GIGGLES]

Mm.

Work.

I expected after two years of
waiting time for this morning,

I was dreaming that day, I
will be having breakfast in bed

and to go out and
discover where I'm living.

I'm so sorry I have
to go, but I'll be back.

All right, I'll miss
you. Duty calls.

I'm trying to understand,
but I didn't want to spend

my first morning in
America by myself.

Later, I'm gonna go pick
up Tharan from school,

and then, I'm gonna come here.

I know, I'm excited, too.

I feel bad leaving
Mohamed here alone,

but I have to go to work. I
don't really have a choice.

I have to be the sole provider

till he has the
authorization to work.

We're thinking eight
months, but I have no idea.

So it's a little stressful.

The bidet, I left it over
there in the bathroom.

Er, you can take a look, but I
don't know how complicated it is.

OK, so here's the box.

[SPEAKING] Have
at it, babe. [LAUGHS]

All right, I gotta get going.

Let me show you, erm,
a few things in the kitchen

just before I dash off. I
only have, like, five minutes.

All right, here's a pan.

Here's some avocado
oil, eggs, spatula,

some greens if you want.

I'm sorry, love, I gotta go. I
gotta go, somebody's gotta work.

You're on your own
this morning, sorry.

[LAUGHS] OK.

Well, it's the first meal
you'll cook in America.

Look at it that way.

Thank you, babe. I'll
see you this afternoon.

Bye. Enjoy.

This is not what I was
expecting for my future wife.

I need salt and I can't find it.

Oh, my God. What am I gonna do?

I'm already here one day,
and I started to miss my mother.

Oh, I think I need some cheese.

It should be here.

Think I left the
oven... Oh, my God.

Oh, my God.

First day, so...

Oh.

We are good, turned out.

position:50% Why don't you just go help cook dinner with my mom?

She needs help. [KOBE SPEAKING]

I'm seriously about
to come over there.

Hate to break up this love fest,
but, er... [CHUCKLES] Go ahead.

Be a nice, you know,
bonding experience

with your future mother-in-law.

Wow. It'd be good.

So, I'm gonna go pick up
my mother-in-law now. OK.

Enjoy the drive. Babe. So you should
go help your future mother-in-law.

We're having a welcome
home dinner for Kobe tonight.

But Kobe started a fight with
me earlier, and I'm really annoyed.

[SPEAKING]

Mm-hm. I'm sorry. I need
from you something...

I said go help mom in the kitchen,
and I should have said, "Honey?

Do you mind helping my mom
in the kitchen? [SPEAKING]

OK, so do you mind?

All right, thank you.

Oh, my God.

[LAUGHING] Welcome
to America. [LAUGHING]

I am super shocked right now.

The Kobe in China would
never talk to me like this.

He was so sweet, so
laidback, he was the nicest guy.

And now Kobe is, like,

this manly man trying
to tell me what to do.

I'm a little taken aback.

So what are we
doing today for dinner?

We are going... We're
having, er, white chili.

And we're gonna make guacamole.
Have you ever made guacamole?

I never. So what we need to
do is scrape these outta here.

OK. Gets 'em
right out like that.

[SPEAKING]

We need to put the
glasses on the table.

Oh. And just, you know,

help yourself to
whatever you need here.

What's happening? Oh, my.

I think it's kinda weird that
they had a fight on the first day.

But I don't know. I don't
know him that well yet.

And, you know, they need to learn
how to work out their differences,

and so, yeah, I didn't
wanna get involved.

[COOING] Are you ready for dinner?
Can you say "Dada"? [LAUGHING]

Hello. Oh, Grandma's
here. Grandma's here.

Oh, my, you're here. Hi, Grammy.

All right, say, "This is
my Daddy. This is Kobe."

Oh, yes, finally.

Yeah. Wanna see if
you can go to Papa?

I'll finish getting your food ready?
And Daddy can get his food?

Yeah. [SPEAKING] OK. All
right, dinner's ready, everybody.

Hey, somebody
needs a diaper change.

[BOTH EXCLAIMING]

Oh, come on. Oh.

You don't wanna go to Daddy? Oh.

[SPEAKING]

He just woke up. [SPEAKING]

That's why he
needs a diaper. Yeah.

All right. I'll get
him, I'll get him.

[SPEAKING]

Cheers, everyone. ALL: Cheers.

KOBAN: Mama. Cheers.
[MIMICS CRASHING]

Ohh. Good job.

So what's the, er, what's the
main course in... In Cameroon?

Oh, OK. A lot of, er,
French influence, right?

It's a lot of French... Yeah.
In Cameroon, we have

two different cultures,
English and French.

Right. Er, it happens that

my dad is from the
French-speaking part,

and my mother's from the
English-speaking part. Oh. OK.

Yeah.

Well, I wanna hear
how you proposed.

I don't think we
ever heard that.

ALL: Ahh.

And here we are.
And here we are.

All three of you. That was the
first ring I ever offered to a girl.

I never did that
before. Aww. Like...

But it's fake, and you know...

[SPEAKING]

ALL: Oh. [LAUGHING]

It's the thought that counts.
VICTORIA: Exactly. I know.

But I want a real one
when we get married.

Now, with the baby
later... Yeah. [LAUGHING]

Yeah. Now, you
deserve it. [SPEAKING]

I'm the boss, remember?

[ALL LAUGHING]

OK. In your culture,
who is the boss?

[ALL LAUGHING]

Now, you see, the whole
thing about Emily is that

we all do what Emily tells
us to do. [ALL LAUGHING]

[EMILY SPEAKING]

So for... For that to change is
gonna be like, really, totally dramatic.

[ALL LAUGHING]

So what other cultural
things, I mean, so...

In Cameroon, you get married,

do you live with the
parents for a while,

or do you just automatically
go on your own? No, no.

OK.

Whoa, he's down for
that. Yeah. [LAUGHS]

I'm waiting. Yeah, what
did you bring, babe?

Ah, well, we can bring
that tradition over here.

OK.

Well, I would... I
would think, er...

Kobe, we don't wanna
break any traditions

that you have...

That it might not be a bad
idea to give us a couple of days

to generate a list.

And, er, we'll present it to you before
the weekend, and, er... [LAUGHING]

We'll see if, er, you know,

you're gonna be able
to marry my daughter.

Wow. Pressure's on.

Well, the marriage list, the
way I understood it from, er,

the culture in Cameroon
is you list the things that

the, erm, the groom is to
bring to the bride's family

for... Kinda like
a dowry, maybe.

Like a dowry. Like, you know,
"We give you these things

so you give us permission
to marry your daughter."

Well, I don't know, I mean...

He's... [SIGHS] Gave us a
grandson, that's probably enough.

So, Kobe, what are your expectations
of the United States? I mean...

You've never been
here before, right?

OK. [SPEAKING]

Yeah. You gotta be willing
to, er, you know, get to work,

and, er, find a good job
and provide for your family.

They're gonna demand
a lotta things from you.

You know, I don't think
Kobe really has a plan.

So I'm... I'm very concerned.
She's... She's my little girl.

[BOTH LAUGHING]

So I'm really concerned
[LAUGHING] about her...

About him being
able to provide for her,

for him, and especially Koban.

Koban is brought into this
world, and he's a big responsibility.

And they're responsible for him.

Well, you know, you
just got here. I... I can't, er,

interrogate you too much,
but we just gotta sit down

and just figure out how to
get from that point A to point B,

because we can't be
a provider for all of you.

I mean, just... It's not
gonna happen, so...

[SIGHS]

[PHONE RINGING]

It is super hard to be
away from my family.

There are so many
emotions are flying right now.

So, I'm calling my big
sister, Judi, I miss her a lot.

She always gives good advice,
she's straightforward, to the point,

and she don't
sugarcoat anything.

Hi, Judi, big sis,
what's going on?

I'm good. Kinda missing home.

Missing everyone.

Of course. Everybody
missing you, too. Ah.

Suja said yesterday, "I am
missing my Auntie Shaeeda."

Aww. "When is she coming back?"

Oh, my gosh, girl.

It's been going quite well in
Kansas City, to be quite honest.

It's been a lot.

It's been a lot? What does
that mean, it's been a lot?

Well, you know, we have
a lotta things to sort out

in terms of getting
married before 90 days.

And...

One of the problems for me is,
you know, potentially being a mother.

You know how
important that is to me.

You know I love kids.

I have a lot of nieces
and nephews in Trinidad.

And you know, I wanna become a
mom one day, very soon. [LAUGHING]

Ugh.

He keeps avoiding
this conversation.

He opens his eyes big, he do the
googly, like, mm-mm, I don't know.

Before coming to KC, er, having
kids was always something I wanna do.

I expressed that to Bilal. Erm,

he never seemed to
give me a definite answer.

All he said is like, "Yeah, I
want kids in the future, too.

I don't mind having
two more kids."

But now, he's saying
something different.

I feel like with Bilal,
he has everything now.

You know, he has his
kids, his perfect home,

he's potentially might
get his wife, which is me.

And his story ends there. But for
me, I feel like I'm now starting my story.

Like I now, like, going to get
my potential future husband,

and now, it's time for
me to build my family.

I'm getting old. I don't
have much time left.

Thank you.

Right? Don't cry about it.

[SPEAKING ARABIC] [IN ENGLISH]

You know, erm...

[SIGHS] This makes
me so emotional.

I know. I can imagine.

[SNIFFLES]

What do I do?

You can have one of
mine. [BOTH LAUGHING]

I just hope, erm, I just hope it's
something that we could, erm,

Bilal and I could have
the conversation soon.

I look at Bilal as my
potential soulmate.

He is super caring, he is a
super romantic individual.

He is just... He's a gentleman.

But I need to know
if he wants kids.

I am 37 years of age,

so I don't have much time when
it comes to, like, having children.

If Bilal tell me right now
that he doesn't want kids,

it would break my heart.

And for sure, it will be a
dealbreaker for our relationship.

There is no
relationship after that.

line:68% position:50% [MOHAMED SPEAKING]

That goes...

No, I cannot do that.

YVE: All righty, babe.

Over the last two years, my
son Tharan and Mohamed

have chatted a
lot on video chat.

THARAN: Let's go.

He just adores Mohamed,
but obviously physically,

it's gonna be a
different situation.

Look up, please. Come on in.

I definitely hope that he does
get along well with Tharan,

cos my son has special
needs, and I know it's difficult.

It's difficult on me
sometimes. I love my son,

but there's challenges, and
it's demanding sometimes.

Hello? We're here.

I know that Mohamed
does have a heart of gold,

but at the same time,
I don't know, maybe...

It maybe... It could be too
much, or maybe, you know,

not something that
he necessarily wants,

and I would never hold that against
him. But it would break my heart.

All right. MOHAMED:
Are you home, babe?

Yes. Hey. Oh, my God.

[LAUGHING]
Tharan. Guess... Look!

Tharan. It's Mohamed.

It's... It's Mohamed. Yes!

He's finally here.
Nice to meet you.

It's him. It's so cool.

[ALL LAUGHING]
He's finally here.

He's here. He's finally...
We're picking him up.

Mommy picked him up from the
airport yesterday. He's so cool.

Yeah! I know, right?
[ALL LAUGHING]

YVE: Whoo! [ALL LAUGHING]

It was a very amazing feeling
when I saw Tharan for the first time,

and he gave me a hug. This
hug made me feel that I'm home.

Yay! Group hug!

Yay! Group hug.
Group hug. [LAUGHING]

Tharan just... He was just looking
at Mohamed like [LAUGHING]

erm, you know, that he couldn't
believe that he was there,

physically there in his
own eyes, and he just said...

Kept saying, "So cool, so
cool," and, erm, I couldn't have

[LAUGHING] even anticipated
a more beautiful moment.

Yeah.

Oh, he has a surprise
for you. Surprise?

Maybe, I don't know.

Ha... Happy... Happy
birthday to Mohamed.

Oh, what's that? It's
got toys. That's a...

[LAUGHING] Whoa. It's...

[LAUGHING]
Insects. Oh, it's bugs.

Are you gonna trick Mommy and
pretend there's a bug? Mommy?

Gonna trick Mommy if it's...

No! [ALL LAUGHING]
What? No, thank you.

Oh, my gosh. I'm starving, babe.

One for Tharan.

[STAMMERING] For
Tharan. OK. Mohamed.

Yeah, yeah!

That's for you. Let me get one.

Yeah, of course.

OK.

Do you like it, Tharan?
Yeah, it's good. It's OK.

Mom did a good job,
right? [LAUGHS] Mm-hm.

That's good to know before I
eat. [LAUGHING] Thanks, babe.

[LAUGHING] All righty.

You gotta eat it right.

Mm.

All right. [LAUGHING]

You're welcome.

[LAUGHING] [SPEAKING]

It's just so great to
see you two together.

He's comfortable with you.

Aww. [LAUGHING]

So I mean, I know that
it's probably not, like,

what you're used to,
but it would be helpful,

you know, obviously, like,
since you're home. [LAUGHING]

Do you feel like you'll be OK,
like, with Tharan? If you're...

What? ..the one who's gonna
be with him in the afternoons?

Yes. OK.

OK. He's a good
boy, right? Yeah.

Mohamed is very well aware

that I have been struggling
to find consistent childcare,

and that that is going to be his
role, to assist me so I can work.

I trust Mohamed to
be alone with my son,

versus finding a babysitter.

But the reality is, it's not
just gonna be an afternoon.

Sometimes it might be a whole
day. So I hope that he can handle that.

I'm so happy. You have no idea.
I don't have to worry about, like,

wondering where he's
gonna go every single day.

BOTH: Yeah.

Oh, wow. Hi... Oh,
Biniyam's falling asleep.

BINIYAM: Yeah,
I'm falling asleep.

Biniyam, stay awake.
We're in New Jersey.

We're in New Jersey,
babe. This is New Jersey.

This is? I'm New
Jersey Bini now.

[IN SINGSONG VOICE]
I'm New Jersey Bini.

After 24 hours on a plane
and two hours in a car,

Bini and I are so exhausted.

But I am really excited about starting
our new life together in America.

He's done. He's done.

Do I have to carry
him up the stairs?

Yeah, you can carry him
up the stairs. [LAUGHS]

My mom rented
an apartment for us,

and we have no
idea what it looks like.

But I'm excited to see
what she picked out.

All right, well, we're here.

We're here. Are you excited?

Oh, my God, here we
go. I hope you like it, Ari.

I figured we would
get a one-bedroom,

but my mom decided that
one bedroom was gonna be

way too small
for the three of us,

so she went ahead and
rented the two-bedroom.

The last door on the right.

OK, this is it. The... The
reveal of the apartment.

FRED: You're home.
[GASPS] Oh, my gosh.

This is the living room.

Let Avi walk around. Oh, my God.

He's walking around
like he owns the place.

Come on, Avi.

So, we don't have any
furniture yet, cos Ari...

I knew... I'm sure you
wanna decorate it yourself.

But I got you guys some
things to start out with. Yeah.

And I put some food
in the refrigerator.

Yeah, that's... Oh, that's nice.

And come over here,
look. Cooking utensils.

Nice.

Come on. Lemme
show you the rest.

The apartment is really
big compared to what

I have been living in lately,
so yeah, I love the apartment.

Erm, I think Bini loves
it, but he's just so tired

that he's like, [MUMBLES].
Like, we're both exhausted.

This bed that I got
for you guys... Yes.

..I hope you guys find it
comfortable, but if you don't...

This is the only thing in the
house that I care about right now.

And then the last room is Avi's, but
we haven't put Avi's room together yet.

I set it up a little, so
he can get started.

I got him a basketball net and
some balls and a little scooter.

One...

[ALL CHEERING]

He learns quick! Yeah.

Good job! Avi's never had
his own room before, he likes it.

So, Biniyam, it's a bare
apartment with nothing in it, but...

I think it's great.
..listen, you have Wi-Fi,

you have a TV. Yeah.
Less stuff, less stress.

Actually for me
and for Ari it's a lot.

Compared to your initial
Ethiopian, time to have an apartment.

BOTH: Yeah.

ARIELA: So it's a little dirty.

Where's the shower? Yeah. Mm.

This is the kitchen.

Where's the refrigerator?

No refrigerator?

I'm getting sick of just being
in this place, it's appalling.

I'm five minutes that way.

If you go straight that way,
Biniyam, you're at our house.

Er, it's good.

We want to come visit
and play with the baby.

Which is why you
got us the apartment

next door to your house.

So you've got a year lease. I
put, erm, the down payment,

the security deposit,
and the first month's rent.

Wow. So that's already paid.

I got the cable hooked
up with the fast Wi-Fi,

the electricity all set up,
and that'll be a monthly bill,

and we have to talk about when you
guys are gonna takeover, erm, the payments.

[SPEAKING]

Yeah.

You know, soon as you can.

But, erm, within the
first two to three months,

better for you, better for us.

Oh, my God.

We talked about this
in Ethiopia and now.

You know, to work on a plan
for your own sustainability.

You know, to... Yeah,
that's what we want.

To lead a life that
you want to lead.

We certainly want
to help. Well, if I had...

If I had to come here myself first, I
would have gotten a cheaper apartment,

and not, you know, this is a
big stress on us right away.

Getting the two-bedroom, the expensive
apartment, and the expensive place

with the expensive
cable and everything,

and then telling
us, "Oh, by the way,

then you have to pay
for it. So get a job fast."

I mean, we have no
idea what the future holds.

While I'm so appreciative to my
parents for even finding the apartment

and covering the
first month's rent,

I don't know if it's realistic
to expect us to be able

to start covering the rent on
our own as soon as possible.

It's good to start
off nice like this.

I don't know what kind of
job I'm gonna be able to get,

and he can't work for
at least 90 days, until...

Or more, until he
gets his work permit.

So that's another
stressful thing.

Bini and I only have a few
$1,000 to last us in the US.

The immigration
process is expensive,

and, you know, we
moved countries.

It's day one, and we already
have to face this financial stress.

OK, good night. Love
you, guys. Love you, guys.

Tomorrow, I'll be more appreciative
when I can open my eyes.

Bini and I had the expectation
that when we came to the US,

everything will be different
and new and exciting,

and it'll be a chance to
just work on our relationship,

spend time together as a
family, and start over again.

Grandma hug.

But I think neither of
us really know long-term

how we're gonna
provide for the family.

It's really scary, like, what
if this doesn't work out?

OK, Biniyam. If I
need anything...

Welcome to the United
States... I'll call Dad.

Good night, love you guys.

line:90% position:50% Yeah, actually that looks cool.

Good hair day.

Thais arrives today. I'm getting
ready to go to the airport to pick her up,

and it's... Honestly,
it's a dream come true.

I mean, that's just...

This is just a gorgeous outfit.

To get ready for Thais'
arrival, I made sure I wanted

to look my best
because she's gorgeous,

and she can have whatever
guy she wants to have,

and I think effort
goes a long way.

Think I'm gonna go
with the Rolex today.

So I got a facial,
got my hair cut,

got a tan going,
lost some weight,

and got my back waxed.
So I'm ready to go.

JOHN: Ready? Yeah, I got the...

The outfit, and I've been
holding this for a year,

ever since we got engaged.
That day's finally here. Yeah.

Today's the day. We're
gonna be under one roof.

See how that goes.

I'm a little nervous because
Thais is not excited at all

to live with John, like,
not one bit, zero, none.

I'm hoping that she can just
get to know John for who he is

and know he's a good
person, and hopefully,

they could have a
brother-sister relationship.

All right, dude, I'll see
you in a bit. Good luck.

After everything I've put into
it, and all the time I've spent

going to Brazil
and being with her

and learning another
language, this is the big payoff.

And, you know, I want everything
to be perfect when she gets here.

All right, this is it.

Oh, my pants.

[SIGHS]

Anticipation's gonna be nuts.

I've been waiting,
she's been waiting.

This is like the
biggest day of our lives.

I hope that she just feels
my love when she gets here,

and I'm just...

I really hope Thais isn't
too tired for sex. [LAUGHS]

All right, well, she
definitely landed.

Can't believe this is happening.

[THAIS SPEAKING PORTUGUESE]

[SPEAKING PORTUGUESE]

[EXCLAIMING]

Mm. Mm.

Mm.

[SPEAKING PORTUGUESE]

[IN ENGLISH] I love
you. [SPEAKING]

[SPEAKING INDISTINCTLY]

Oh, my God. Hold me. Wow.

How's your bags? You
want me to get your...

[IN PORTUGUESE] Like it?

[IN PORTUGUESE]

For you! Aw, for me? Uh-huh.

Don't want you to go back.

Aw. [LAUGHS]

[IN ENGLISH] I feel
incredible, and I'm so happy

I accomplished dream
to our life together. Aw.

[LAUGHING]

[IN PORTUGUESE] Ah!

[IN PORTUGUESE]

[IN ENGLISH] How was
saying bye to your dad?

Did your dad bring
you to the airport?

Er, my dad? Uh-huh.
Yes. [IN PORTUGUESE]

Yes! Yeah.

[IN PORTUGUESE]

[IN ENGLISH] Uh-huh.

[SPEAKING]

[IN PORTUGUESE]

OK. [SPEAKING]

[BOTH LAUGHING]

[IN PORTUGUESE]

[IN ENGLISH]

Mm.

Sex in America, mm.

[BOTH LAUGHING]

[IN PORTUGUESE]

Mm-hm. [IN PORTUGUESE]

It's not just a random
roommate, it's my brother.

[IN PORTUGUESE]

No.

[SIGHS]

Mm-hm.

[SIGHS AND SPEAKS IN
ENGLISH] Yeah, it will be hard.

[IN PORTUGUESE]

[IN PORTUGUESE]

[IN ENGLISH] We will see.

Eh?

KOBE: Good night.
EMILY: Good night.

You want to go down?
OK, let's go night-night.

Come on!

Say "uh-oh!" KOBAN: Da-da!

Uh-oh! Let's show daddy
what we do every night,

huh, bubba? Yeah!
Uh-oh! [LAUGHS]

Oh, my. All right.

So... Oh, say uh-oh!

..firstly, we have...
Oh, my! Babe, listen!

We have, like, two
different diapers going on.

[SPEAKING] So this
is the night time diaper.

[SPEAKING] Although Kobe and
I kinda got into it a little bit earlier,

it is his first night
here in our home.

So I'm just gonna let it go
and enjoy our night together.

Here, OK, put his diaper
on. You gotta go quick.

All right. Like, open it
up, have it ready to go.

Sit him there like this. One, two,
three, four. Ready? One, two, three, four,

five, six, seven, eight!

Oh, no, other way, sorry.
Oh, no. That one wasn't dirty.

OK. [SPEAKING]

OK, now we gotta put
jammies on. [SPEAKING]

[LAUGHING] Uh-oh! OK,
just hold him up like that. Uh-oh!

Hold him up. Babe, don't
wild him up! We're going to bed.

[GRUNTS] Da-da!

[SPEAKING]

I never thought I was
gonna get to this day.

So, really don't know
how this is gonna work.

I usually just nurse him to bed.

But I have to turn all
the lights off to do that

cos you get so distracted.
Too-too-too-too! Hi!

Are you gonna sleep on
that side? [SPEAKING]

I don't know if you're gonna
have enough room. [LAUGHS]

We're definitely not gonna
have enough room to do anything.

OK, but, babe,
just let him just chill.

All right. Please,
just let him chill.

OK. I know you're both hyped.

He needs to, like,
wind down a little bit.

Look, he's so tired.

Hi. Aw.

I know. And this,
honestly, is our routine.

Like, we just
nurse... [SPEAKING]

And we're out.

And he likes to switch boobs every
two seconds. Every time, forever.

Mm-hm.

So do you think this
is gonna work out?

No, I mean in this bed
cos I'm thinking now,

I'm already claustrophobic.
I'm freaking out.

I know, but Koban
takes up all that...

I guess we'll just try it out.

We're gonna try it, OK.

Kobe being here is great, and I know
he's so excited to be close with Koban,

but right now, he's
actually distracting Koban,

and I think Koban's
really confused.

It's normally just him
and Mommy in bed,

and now, here we
have Daddy in the mix,

who's being loud and not
following our bedtime routines.

Baby!

I know, well... Oh, my.

[SPEAKING]

I think it's gonna be hard.

But there is always
another bed for you.

[YAWNING] [SHOUTING]

I don't want to kick
Koban out of bed yet.

[GRUNTS] Ba-ba!

Oh! Bye-bye? Where are you
going buh-bye?

Koban, Koban! Oh, my God.

No, I just don't think
it's gonna even be possible

to put him to bed with you in here.

I guess you're sleeping
in the other bed tonight.

[EXCLAIM] Ba-ba! Yeah.

Say goodnight to Koban.
Too-too! [KISSES]

Mm-hm.
Say night-night, da-da! Da-da!

Say night-night!
Uh-oh! Come here.

And...

OK, I'mma turn it...

OK, bye.

[SPEAKING]

[SIGHS]

SHAEEDA: Next time
on 90 Day Fiance...

What is that? That's a top.

Oh. I'm just wondering
if you might be willing

to wear something
that's a little bit more modest.

My mom is testing Miona,
that is not acceptable.

Miona is not feeling comfortable,
and I'm pissed off.

BINIYAM: Whoo! ARIELA:
Welcome home! [LAUGHS]

New York, I get, like,
goosebumps, like...

Like, I'm so excited.

No, that doesn't make any sense.

You already want to move?
Just calm down.

I f*cking hate when you
tell me to calm down.

GUILLERMO: Every time
that you drink,

I know, almost exactly
how you're gonna end.

How does it end?
Drunk, not remembering

what happened the last night.

She just wants to, like,
keep going and never stop.

I just do what I want to do.

Your opinion's great,
but if I don't agree

then I'm not gonna do it.

YVETTE: These are the parts.

[MOHAMED SPEAKING]

He's gonna install the bidet.

Am I allowed to be
in the house if there's a...

You arrive one day,
and you're gonna pull this? Nah.

[THAIS SPEAKING PORTUGUESE]

I'd really like it if you just
kind of back off a little bit.

f*ck it, no. f*ck you.

This is my feelings.
I want you to respect it,

and I'm getting sick and tired
of you pranking me.

Keep your hands to yourself cos
I can literally pull over right now,

and you'll be taking an Uber
for the rest of the ride home.

You thought I was joking?
