Well, as far as he was concerned, I was.
Morgan and June's relationship really is at the lowest we've ever seen it.
The things the Morgan says to June here are pretty hard for June to hear, and a lot of it is really motivated by the pain and the rawness that Morgan is feeling after just having delivered Grace's baby stillborn.
I can't stop thinking about how the baby might be alive if we didn't have to come to you.
In his mind, he, I think, is looking for somewhere to place the blame, and June, unfortunately, is on the receiving end of it.
Grace lost the baby because you couldn't do the one thing that John wanted.
That's why I couldn't let you stay here, and that is why you were not here when she needed you.
And that's something else that, you know, is unspoken between the two of them.
Instead of trying to help each other through it, they're really kind of at each other's throats over it.
We saw June get that letter that Jacob gave her, but she has not looked at it, and really, I think June's been in this place where she hasn't been ready to actually grieve John Dorie's death.
She really has kind of just been moving forward, not allowing herself to feel any of the kind of more difficult emotions.
Even though she loses it, I think she's upset because she's worried she'll never find it again, but she doesn't want to go back for it because she's not ready to face it and see what John's kind of final goodbyes to her were.
♪♪ Seeing all of these clippings in the RV, the primary reason for putting them there was to show John Dorie's obsession with Teddy and with the case, and this was the thing that consumed his life.

June was too late to save John's life.
By the time he washed up, he was already dead, but she had prepared a table with all the medical supplies, so she could treat the g*nsh*t wound, and even though she didn't get to do that for John Dorie, she's now getting to do it for his father.
I didn't run from my boy 'cause I didn't care.
I did it 'cause I do.
I think that's really when they kind of start to bond because I think at the end of the day, they both realize they're experiencing the same pain and they're both missing the same person.
It's not too late.
For either of us.
For June, reading this letter is about her accepting that John is gone and starting the process of truly grieving him.
John: "This the hardest decision of my life.
One that I hope you can find in your heart to forgive me for making..." The reason she chooses to read it out loud is because she knows John Dorie, Sr.
needs to go through that same grieving process.
"I believe you'll forgive me one day.
Same way I forgave Dad".
John Dorie, Sr. hears that in spite of abandoning his son, his son still found a way to forgive him, and it really is kind of all about that light that John Dorie just had in him that people were drawn to,that optimism.
"You are the most amazing woman I've ever known".
♪♪ "You rekindled the light in me, June".
Once again, it kind of gets reignited, and John Dorie, Sr. gets reignited and June, and those are kind of the two characters who are gonna carry John Dorie forward in their spirit going into the future of the show.
Morgan, there's someone I'd like you to meet.
June: This is John Dorie.
It's John's father.
This episode really was about saying goodbye to John Dorie in a way that hopefully brings catharsis for the characters and for the audience, and we really wanted the end of this episode just to feel like a proper send-off to him and it was honoring the spirit of who John Dorie was, the spirit of what the character brought to the show.
Thank you for letting me come stay a while.
Well, you're a welcome addition, Mr. Dorie.
The man we're looking for, the one who sent those people who att*cked you and Grace...
John's father knows everything about him.

The "J.D." on the handle?
That's me.
I'm John Dorie.
This episode is called "J.D.", and the title has a bunch of different meanings, all of them revolving around characters' initials.
It could refer to John Dorie.
It could refer to June Dorie.
Or it could also refer to a new character that we introduce in this episode, and that is John Dorie, Sr.
It's just the way John talked about you, the few times that he did, I figured you were dead.
[Shotgun cocks]
It cost him really everything, and years later, we find him still living in this RV, where he's obsessed with it.
Well, maybe we should be sharing information.
We've been searching for days.
I've been searching a lot longer than that.
June and John Dorie... it takes them a while to I think understand that there are a lot of similarities between the two of them, and it ultimately comes when they're facing off with Hill and John Dorie ends up getting shot.
[g*nsh*t]
[Shotgun cocks]
