- Previously on The Amazing Race.

Nine teams set off from this medieval fortress in Scotland

and traveled nearly miles to Portugal.

When all nine teams found themselves on the same train

near the end of the leg,

alliances quickly fell to the wayside.

- Alliance shmalliance.

It's so vital to just stay in the game yourself.

- [Narrator] As anxiety to reach the finish line heightened-

- Walk to the pit stop.

- You must walk. - You must walk.

- [Narrator] Heather and Eve didn't follow the directions

of their last clue correctly.

- We must walk to the pit stop?

Walk means run, skip, jump, hop.

I think it just means we must walk into it.

- Yeah.

- [Narrator] And mistakenly took a taxi to the pit stop,

arriving ahead of all other teams.

- Wow. - It's so psychotic

because nobody else was around us.

- [Narrator] In the end, Heather and Eve received

a mandatory time penalty for not following

their clue correctly.

Because of that, they were eliminated.

- It's a bad way to go out.

- [Narrator] Now, eight teams remain.

Who will be eliminated tonight?

[suspenseful music]

[music continues]

[intense music]

Lisbon, Portugal, a world center of science and culture

for more than years.

And on the banks of the Tagus river, the Torre De Belem.

a year old fortress.

This was the fourth pit stop in a race around the world.

Teams arrived here at the end of the last leg

for a mandatory rest period that allows them to eat,

sleep and mingle with the other teams.

[suspenseful music]

The eight teams waiting here have no idea

what's in store for them.

They have to figure out for themselves how to get to

the next yellow and red route marker by solving clues

they'll find in sealed envelopes.

Will Aaron and Arianne rise from last place?

And will Teri and Ian, only minutes apart from other teams,

be able to take the lead, or will they fall back again

to the end of the pack?

Ken and Gerard who arrived at : AM,

[Ken & Gerard cheer]

will depart at : PM.

- Find the westernmost point of continental Europe.

- [Narrator] Teams must now make their way here,

to Cabo Da Roca, the westernmost point

of continental Europe.

But first, they must figure out that this historic site

is in Portugal, only miles away.

[suspenseful music]

- Okay, let's go.

We're looking for the western, read the clue, please.

- Find the westernmost point of continental Europe.

- [Gerard] All these other teams are starting to realize

Ken and Gerard might be a little bit of a threat.

Here it is!

Here it is, westernmost point.

Cabo Da Roca.

- Do we fly there, Gerard, do you know?

- No, no, no, it's too close.

- We have $.

Zach has gotten a lot better at dealing with my emotions

during this trip.

[suspenseful music]

- Find the westernmost point of continental Europe.

Come on, come on, come on, come on.

Read it again.

How are we gonna get there?

- We're really confident because of our little brotherhood

going on with Ken and Gerard.

It's working out great.

- Here comes the twins.

We know where it is.

We have to take a bus or a train.

The wonder twins and us have had a great alliance, yeah.

- [Ken] I think it's working for us.

- We have $ for this leg.

- .

All right, let's go.

- We're out of here, dude.

We need a map.

What's the westernmost point of continental Europe?

- I have no idea.

Damon and I talked about it, we said,

"Look, if we're having a situation where we have no idea

what to do, we're gonna stay with the pack

because if you go off on your own and you leave the pack,

you're gonna lose.

There go to the twins right here.

They got a map too, come on.

D, come on, stay over here.

- Wait, so we just need to go to Santa Apolonia station?

- Yeah. - Okay.

- This is the best money we spent on a map.

Nobody seems to have one.

- said, "We are not leaving you.

We are gonna follow you the whole way."

- Damon.

- [Damon] I'm with you, I'm with you.

- Oh, man.

- [Flo] Excuse me.

What is the most western point?

- Cabo da Roca.

meters down you have a train.

- Meters.

- [Gerard] It's taxis right here.

[suspenseful music]

- You need to follow them.

Wherever they go, you go, okay?

- Santa Apolonia train station.

- They're right behind us, Gerard.

- [Gerard] I know.

- , , , .

- Where we going, Terri?

- The westernmost part of the continent.

- Where we going?

- sh**t, I dropped, forget it, it's garbage.

- Where we going?

- I don't know!

After years of living with somebody,

you sort of learn when it's time to put your foot down.

- You're not zipped.

You're not zipped.

- Then zip it.

What is the westernmost part of Europe?

- Cabo Da Roca.

- Cabo Da Roca?

- Not here.

kilometers from here.

- We need a taxi. - Okay.

[upbeat music]

- [Jill] I need to be with someone who is strong-minded

and is very bright.

I don't call the sh*ts, John Vito doesn't call the sh*ts.

We call the sh*ts together.

It's always a group effort when we make our decisions.

There's a taxi right there.

- Find the westernmost point of Europe.

- Cabo Da Roca.

- As fast as you can go.

Thank you.

- Is there a train that would get us there faster?

- [Driver] No. - No?

- [John Vito] It's just one wrong turn, and you know,

you could be eliminated.

[suspenseful music]

- Cabo-

- Cabo Da Roca?

- Si.

- We take this train?

- [Speaker] Yes.

- [Zach] To what stop?

- To Cascais. - Cascais?

Okay, thank you.

- [Flo] Thank you!

- I feel good about this.

- You do? - Yeah.

- , , , , we're outta here.

Cabo Da Roca.

It's in England?

- No, no, no, in Portugal.

- Oh, it's in Portugal.

- Yeah, it's just around the coast.

It's not far.

- [Mike] Cabo Da Roca. - [Kathy] Cabo Da Roca.

- I think we're doing all right.

We don't think the other teams got the quick help

like we did.

- We don't know.

We love each other.

We don't say it.

We're more actions speak louder than words.

- All right, let's get the hell outta here.

We don't have that much time.

Our rank so far at pit stops has been like,

three, two and four, so to all of a sudden be last

was a real kick in the ass.

- [Kathy] We need a cab.

- [Mike] We got it? - [Kathy] Yeah.

- [Mike] Go, go, go.

Caba Da Roca. - [Driver] Let's go.

- Okay.

- [Ian] Come on, Teri.

- I'm looking to see, do we need to go down this step?

I think this step.

- [Ian] No, damn it.

There's a taxi right there.

- Taxi!

- We're going to Cabo- - Casa, Cabo.

- We're going to Cabo Da Roca, which is supposed to be-

- The westernmost part of...

- Go ahead, tell him.

I can't talk over you.

Bottom line is, I'm the pilot, she's the navigator.

And when I say we fly, we need to fly.

[intense music]

- [Aaron] Locals were telling us to take a bus or a train.

So what could really help us right now is that some people

might be doing that.

Taking buses and trains.

[music continues]

- Oh.

- Hey.

- [John Vito] Where are you guys going?

- Can't tell you guys.

[music continues]

- Where was he going?

- [Driver] Who?

- The taxi we were just talking to.

- Santa Apolonia.

- Santa Apolonia train?

- [Driver] Yes. - Okay.

But you think this is faster than doing that?

- Yeah 'cause you gotta wait for the train.

[music continues]

- Thank you.

- Come on, quick, quick.

- Right now we are in the train station in Lisbon.

We don't know what city we're going to right now.

- [Andre] We have no map.

- Had no idea. - We had nothing.

Instead of you guys wasting time trying to ditch us,

we'll give you euros if you guys just help us

with this part of the leg.

- Okay, 'til the end of the train.

- Andre and Damon wanna offer us money.

Come on, guys, let's talk quick.

Conference.

- You guys, right now, they're gonna follow us anyway,

so let's just get the three of us there,

'cause you might need them at some point.

You never know.

- Okay, you're in, you're in, you're in.

To Cascais.

Because there is no train that goes directly

to Cabo Da Roca.

- From Cascais you can take a taxi.

- Taxi, to get to Cabo da Roca.

All right, fellas.

We got a good leg up, hopefully.

[intense music]

High five, you guys.

[suspenseful music]

- [Aaron] This cab driver's amazing.

We're almost there to Cabo da Roca.

There's a good chance that we're not the last team

pulling in here right now, even though we were the last team

to leave the pit stop.

- Oh my God, this is awesome.

- It has to be, right?

- I hope we're the first ones.

[train wheels squealing]

- After you.

Taxi!

Cabo da Roca?

- Cabo da Roca, si.

- Thank you.

Detour.

- A detour is a choice between two tasks,

each with its own pros and cons.

In this Detour, teams need to choose between two ways

of getting to this route marker

at the edge of the Atlantic ocean.

Their choice, ropes or slopes.

In ropes, teams take one of these shuttle buses to the top

of the Ursa cliffs and rappel feet

to the shoreline below.

The task is scary, but teams will be able to finish it fast.

In slopes, teams hike down these sloping trails

to the shoreline below.

The task isn't scary, but the long,

physically demanding hike might take a while to finish.

- Do you wanna do the rappel?

- Yep.

- Let's go this way then, the shuttles.

Let's just jog it up there.

[ominous music]

- Five, six, seven, eight cars here.

Oh, man.

We're the first ones here.

- Woo!

- This is one sweet day.

- Yeah, I see it, I see the clue, I see the clue.

I see the clue, I see the clue.

- [John Vito] Don't sprain your ankle there.

- [Jill] Watch your left.

I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm okay.

- You okay, baby?

- I'm fine.

Detour.

Ropes are faster.

This is gonna be scary.

- Whoa.

- I am excited.

- There's another group here, Arianne.

Woo!

[ominous music]

Arianne, I love you.

- I love you! - [Aaron] Be safe.

- Woo!

[Arianne breathing heavily]

- [Flo] rappel? - [Zach] Yeah.

- Zach, this is really steep.

I don't want to.

feet like that?

I don't know how.

- Flo, we're not rappelling off of this.

[ominous music]

- [Aaron] Arianne, you got it, girl.

[Arianne breathing heavily]

- [Arianne] Woo!

- I'm a little scared.

- [Arianne] Woo!

It was so much fun.

- You wanna rappel?

- We're just going down, right, with the rope?

- I'm scared [censored] right now, Vito.

[suspenseful music]

Oh my God.

I can't believe I'm doing this.

[music continues]

- Up to two teams may rappel at the same times.

- [Ian] Let's rappel.

- [Teri] Let's rappel.

[train wheels squealing]

[ominous music]

- Taxi stand's over here, guys.

[waves crashing] [suspenseful music]

- Here comes down Vito.

No sign of Aaron.

- My rope is caught.

Oh!

- [Jill] Woo!

This is scary.

- Don't look down, just look at your feet.

[John Vito chuckles]

- [Aaron] I don't like it right here.

I'm freaking out.

- [Jill] It's too slow!

- Don't touch the harness.

- [Mike] I've been taking the coward's way out

of all the Detours.

I can't go through this whole race and be a coward

the whole time so, time to go off the cliff, I guess.

- Oh my God, I'm gonna rappel.

- The home steps, baby.

- [Aaron] Oh my God.

Thank God.

Oh, mother [censored].

- Route info. - Route info, people.

- Choose a marked car and drive yourselves

to the Marine port in Algeciras.

- I knew it, we're going to Morocco.

[suspenseful music]

- [Narrator] Teams must drive themselves almost miles

to the port city of Algeciras, Spain.

From there, they must book passage on a ferry

and cross the Mediterranean sea to the city of Tangier,

Morocco.

- All right.

- Book a passage on a ferry to the city of Tangier

in Morocco. - Woo-hoo!

- Let's go. - We're going to Morocco.

- What happens if I get detached?

- You're not gonna get detached.

- No, what happens if I slip?

Am I just hanging off a cliff?

[suspenseful music]

And just let go a little bit at a time?

[Flo screams]

Like that?

Oh, I don't wanna.

- But be calm.

You must enjoy this, it's very easy.

- But what happens if I fall?

- She's gonna flip out when she sees that it's like this.

It's gonna be like that, right?

It's a cliff, right?

- [Guide] Yeah, it's a cliff.

- [Zach] Yeah, it's a cliff.

- Is this a joke?

This is a [censored] joke.

- I'll be right by your side, Flo.

I'm coming down this line.

- Once again, don't be afraid.

Calm, it's better.

Yeah.

- Just look at the rope?

- Yeah, don't look down, look at the rope.

- [Teri] What happens if that one undoes?

- [Ian] You fall.

- Maybe we should have walked.

[suspenseful music]

[Flow screams]

- Flo, you're okay.

You're okay, girl.

[Flo sobbing]

- [Mike] Flo, you're okay.

- I can't put my other foot down, Michael.

- [Mike] Just look at me, you're okay.

- I wanna get out, please.

- [Mike] I'm scared too.

Flo, just put another foot down.

The rope is safe, the rope is safe.

[Flo sobbing]

- [Zach] She's gonna quit?

- Stop, stop, stop.

- Ah, sh**t.

[Flo sobbing]

[intense music]

[Flo sobbing]

- [Zach] You don't wanna do it?

All right, forget it.

You tried it, you know?

You tried.

Let's go walk a little walk on the hill, have a good time.

Let's relax.

You made a great effort.

- You guys didn't go?

Good luck. - [Zach] Thanks.

- Is where we can, we can get ahead now.

'cause the walk is a lot longer than the rappel.

- Let's rappel.

- Oh, God, we're gonna rappel.

[intense music]

- Rappelling is very, don' worry.

- I'm not worried.

- One of the best experiences I had watching Michael

from the top and going all the way down,

just to know that he did it for the first time with no fear

was cool.

[ominous music]

I crushed my hand and hit my knees, but it ain't no thing.

I'm just worried about my girl.

[music continues]

- Hoo-rah!

Come on, let me go.

Come on, give me space.

Hoo-rah!

Nice ride.

- [Zach] The rappelling one, it didn't happen.

That was frustrating.

She was really, really scared of what would happen, I think.

And at that point I just wanted to make sure

that she was okay.

But we had to walk, so it was kind of grueling,

and it was a pain.

- It was fun.

- It was.

I'm bleeding, but...

- Are you?

I got a rope burn a little bit.

[intense music]

- I can't hold it tight enough to stop.

- [Ian] Just one jump an you got it.

Come on down, it's like a ladder.

Go left, go left.

Terri, Terri, Terri!

- Ian, stop it!

- Ropes. - Let's rope.

Let's go. - Okay.

- And I'm here, I'm here!

I did it!

- We got teams ahead of us, we gotta move.

- We did it and we're in first place right now, girl.

- Drive yourselves to the Marine port and,

I can't read this word, Algeciras, Spain.

- [Aaron] Fine, Algeciras?

- Yeah.

- Ken, I love ya.

And you don't do this, I'm gonna break your ass.

- [Speaker] Are you used to rappel?

- Yeah.

I rappel for the fire department.

- Detour.

- Okay, what we got there?

- Rope or slope.

Let's see.

- [Drew] We rappel, come on.

- That was awesome, that was great.

[suspenseful music]

- That was sweet.

[paper rips]

- Come on, Kenny!

- Just pretend there's a dozen glazed donuts at the bottom!

Hey, look at him, it's like he's running.

Woo!

You beat .

- Holy [censored]

Woo!

- [Gerard] We've got a long way.

Let's enjoy this.

- Oh.

- I got it.

Let's go.

- Tangier, Morocco. - Let's go, baby.

- Can't believe that we're still in the race.

- hours ago, we thought we were eliminated.

- We don't wanna get stuck at the ferry and have

all the other teams catch up to us.

- I know.

- We're feeling all right so far.

Today's not bad.

I've seen worse days on the race.

- Come on, Derek. [clapping]

Okay.

- Hey, Morocco, here we go.

[relaxing music]

- Right now we need to stop somewhere and fuel up.

And this little baby, she needs a nice batch of unleaded.

- Damon, I'm pulling into this gas station, man.

See if we can get some more gas.

- [Damon] Here it says diesel.

- [Andre] It does? - [Damon] Yeah.

- Okay. - [Damon] So put diesel.

- [Jill] Should we get gas?

I have a quarter t*nk though.

- [John Vito] Yeah.

- [Jill] You sure? - [John Vito] Yeah.

This is diesel, Jill.

- I think it's without lead. [speaks Spanish]

[Speaks Spanish] Means without.

- I had trouble telling them unleaded.

[suspenseful music]

- [Teri] So we're not diesel, are we?

- [Ian] No.

- We got a sandwich.

- [Ken] We got gas, we have no money.

Gerard needed to get his sandwich.

- Well, I'm hungry, I have to eat.

- [Drew] Gerard and Ken have the map now,

and I actually kind of wish we were leading,

but that's okay.

Have to get some diesel.

- Yeah, well, we have our gas.

I mean, are we on the right highway?

Do you feel that something?

Oh my God.

The car's breaking down right now.

- [Zach] Okay, unleaded.

- The car's dead.

There's no acceleration.

There's no break!

[ominous music]

- It just stalled on me.

That's kind of scary, actually.

- [Ian] What happened here?

[keys clicking]

What's going on?

[ominous music continues]

- Wow.

Wow.

- [Flo] Can you tell me what's going on?

- Yeah, the car died.

The car just died all of a sudden.

- [Teri] Hope you didn't put the wrong kind of gas in.

- I put regular gas in the car.

- I hope it wasn't a diesel.

- It wasn't diesel.

Its clearly mark Gasolina.

- No, the car.

- [Ian] Oh.

Good point.

- [Andre] I am so relieved now.

We can push on, be on our way.

Wow, man, it feels good.

- [Damon] Let's go.

- We're not in Portugal anymore.

You can't drive like a race car driver.

- I know.

- We're coming into Seville, right?

- I think so, this is Seville.

- [Drew] We're back in the Spanish speaking countries.

Thank God.

- On the road to Algeciras.

- Shush, would you?

- [Zach] I'm gonna check one thing just to see.

On the place where you open to put the gas in.

Yeah, right here, it says diesel.

- It did say diesel. - [Ian] Ah.

We just blew the race, that's for sure.

- Could be the end of the race, baby.

- That's it, that's it.

Car's dead, it's one o'clock in the morning

and we're in the middle of nowhere.

I don't know what to do.

I just, I want to go home.

[ominous music]

[slow guitar music]

Please.

- [Ian] Bottom line is I just didn't know

the vehicle took diesel.

If we can get the gas drained out of it, we can get...

- [Teri] How do you do that?

You might have to do it yourself.

- [Ian] All you gotta do is disconnect the gas line.

Sorry.

[guitar music continues]

- [Flo] This is like a Twilight zone.

Okay, we're gonna walk to the gas station.

I don't think it's very safe,

but I don't know what else to.

Great.

[Aaron sobbing]

- [Aaron] I'm so humiliated right now.

[suspenseful music]

- [Mike] We're done.

This car is a piece of crap.

- [Kathy] This is the first time I've seen Michael

angry on this trip.

When I saw him starting to get upset,

then I started to worry.

- I knew it.

- [Kathy] It's usually the other way around

where he's totally calming me down

and telling me it's all right.

- Can you put it in neutral and try to start it?

Oh.

- [Zach] All right, let's ask in the Galp station.

This is where miracles are made.

- The tow truck driver is coming right now to talk to you.

- Bueno.

[suspenseful music]

- Oh, man, it's three in the morning.

- We're the first one here.

[music continues]

[electrical buzzing]

- This is over, this is very over.

I just think we should just back out of this right now.

I don't feel like dealing with this all night.

- I'm convinced we'll make it to the ferry.

- [Flo] Yeah, tomorrow night.

This car is majorly [censored] up,

and I don't wanna drive in it and have it explode.

this is too much.

- [Zach] I feel very close to Flo.

When Flo gets discouraged and says she wants to quit

the race, it definitely affects me.

It's gonna be all right.

- I put Gasolina in my car.

It was supposed to have diesel.

You have a hose?

He has a siphon hose.

[intense music]

- [Teri] What are you doing?

- [Ian] I'm looking for the fuel line.

- [Teri] Get out from under there.

It's not worth it.

- Here we go.

Watch out, gas is flowing out.

- That's John Vito.

- Oh, thank God.

Hey, hey, hey.

What's the word?

- There ain't no ferries leaving this time of morning.

- [Zach] The moment of truth has arrived.

[engine sputtering]

- Is that working?

- It's working.

Yeah.

We're back in the game.

- We're back in the game.

Zach has really stepped up to the plate and to taken me

under his wing.

- [Ian] Like any other facet of the race,

you gotta work at getting the job done.

- [Teri] We're on the road again.

I don't believe it, I don't believe that he did this.

This is like, cool.

[suspenseful music]

- [Mike] At least we're near a nice hotel.

- [Kathy] Yeah.

- [Mike] Time to go inside and see if anyone

could help us somewhere.

- We're just hoping that the rest of the teams aren't,

aren't ahead of us still.

- Help us.

Someone else pull over.

Everyone just flashes their lights.

- That was Aaron and Arianne.

Just keep going, we're pulling away.

- Just flash your lights at us.

How you doing?

Oh my God, what's this?

Someone's pulling over.

Police.

- [Mike] Luckily we broke down right next to

this four star hotel, so we're gonna make the best of it

and spend the night in a nice place

and in the morning we're gonna go have it towed

to a mechanic.

I think it might just be something really small

that he can just adjust.

- That's fine.

It's nice to see his vulnerability.

I've always told him I wanna see it,

so I actually saw it.

- [Mike] We're just not gonna give up.

- Luisitania, is the insurance.

- Insurance?

- Don't worry, no problem.

- What this guy said is that the company who rents out

this car is paying for this to be fixed,

then we'll be on our way.

- There's a truck right there.

There's two trucks.

- [John Vito] Yeah.

- [Gerard] Oh, there's the flag.

Hey, look at that.

- [Jill] It's Ken and Gerard and the wonder twins.

- Are you the first team here?

- Departes, seven o'clock.

- Ooh.

- All right, it's seven, let's get this party moving.

- We had the car towed to a Mitsubishi dealer

and we're just waiting for them to fix it.

We're okay, we're not gonna worry about it.

We're gonna relax, have some food.

And there's still a chance one of the other teams

made a mistake and are in the same boat.

[suspenseful music]

- There's Teri and Ian.

- Look at that, Zach and Flo are just getting here.

I can't believe we're still in this race.

- You have five minutes for the :.

- Oh, bueno.

Okay.

- [Flo] Where is the boat for Tangier?

Zach, please just ask people.

- Here we are!

- I know, but I don't know exactly.

If you ask, we would know.

- Flo, please don't yell at me now.

I just drove for [censored] hours, okay?

- Because of your mistake, so don't tell me

that it's my fault.

- We don't wanna miss this boat, it's very important.

- [Zach] There's Teri and Ian behind us,

and we're really hoping that they miss it.

[suspenseful music]

- We made it, indubitably.

[suspenseful music]

- Route info.

Take a taxi to Viajes Flandria travel agency.

- And sign up for one of their charter buses to Fez.

- [Narrator] Teams must now make their way through Tangier

and find the Viajes Flandria travel agency.

When they get there, they'll have to sign up for seats

on charter buses that depart one hour apart.

There is enough room on each bus for only three teams.

- Hurry, seats are first come first serve.

- Okay, let's go, let's get a cab.

First out.

- [Derek] Taxi's right here, take it.

- Right here.

- Viajes Flandria?

- You know where that is?

- Do you know?

- You know?

- Rapido, rapido.

- Yeah, no wait, go, go, go, go, go, go.

Good, good, good.

- Oh yeah, follow them.

- Okay, follow that cab right there, okay?

- Yeah, he's following the other car.

Did he lose them already?

He lost them already.

- Where is it?

- Right there.

- [Drew] Go, go, go, sign in, sign in.

[suspenseful music]

- [Drew] We need a bus to a Fez.

- Relax, you're on the next bus.

There's only three spaces.

- [Jill] We're not leaving until :?

Sucks.

That cab driver sucked.

Luck of the draw.

[upbeat music]

- [Narrator] Teams are now traveling to the city of Fez.

Once there, they will be dropped off in a part of town

called the old city, where they will get

their next route marker.

[upbeat music]

- Route info.

- [Zach] On our way.

- Now we're gonna try to hit...

- Time to go to Algeciras.

- Algeciras, take the ferry and get to Morocco.

[upbeat music]

- [John Vito] The delay in getting onto the bus

allowed the teams that were on the ferry behind us

to catch up with us.

- Off to Fez.

[suspenseful music]

- This is one bitter team.

We went from happy and exciting to bitter and jaded

in hours.

- We'll get there.

- [Mike] And there's still a chance one of the other teams

made a mistake.

- I'm hoping at least one did.

- [Aaron] Is this the boat to Tangier?

- Yes, but it has left already.

- It left already?

Screw it, let's just pay for this, get our tickets.

Doesn't matter, I just wanna get out of here.

- I just feel like I woke up from a nightmare.

- Now we've just gotta find the ferry.

- Right on the water.

- Should be right there.

[slow music]

- [Damon] Old city, here we come.

[person chanting]

- [Gerard] Ken, quick.

- Roadblock.

- A Roadblock is a task that only one person may perform.

In this roadblock, that person must race through

the narrowest streets of this ancient marketplace

known for its leather, where dying is still done by hand.

They must find this tannery.

Once here, they have to search vats

filled with foul smelling dye in order to find

their next clue.

What the teams don't know is the clues are hidden

in only three vats.

[upbeat music]

- The person have a keen sense the direction

and not a so keen sense of smell.

I'll do it.

- You want me to do it? - Yeah.

[Damon chuckles]

All right.

- You want me to do this?

- Yeah, yeah.

- Okay, have the kids help you.

- Okay, okay.

[Gerard speaks in foreign language]

[kids speak in foreign language]

Okay, let's go, rapido, rapido.

- [Damon speaks in foreign language] Tannery?

You take me here, you get this, okay?

- Okay.

- Do you know where that is?

- Tannery, yes. - The tannery?

- This one is Tannery.

- Sometimes you gotta pay for services.

I don't mind helping these little kids out.

[man speaks in foreign language]

- [Gerard] Ah, okay.

Oh, gloves, here.

In here?

Aha.

Where are you, clue?

Oh my God.

I think I'm gonna be sick.

- [Damon] Okay, this is it, huh?

Where do we get the gloves?

- Got one.

- [Derek] Right here?

Okay.

- It's hard, look for it in the vats.

- [Derek] God sakes.

- Bingo.

Bingo!

Bingo!

On the second try, baby.

This is it.

[intense music]

- Oh, man.

[water sloshing]

- Oh God.

- Choose a marked car located,

and drive yourselves to the next pit stop,

the rooftop of the Borj Nord.

- [Narrator] Teams must choose from one of these marked

four by fours, and drive across the city to this place.

The Borj Nord.

This fortress, built years ago to protect

the city of Fez is the pit stop for this leg of the race.

The last team to check in here will be eliminated.

- I'm not sure where to go, so.

- [Gerard] Taxi, la taxi.

Borj Nord, Borj Nord?

Okay, follow him.

We have no idea where we're going here.

We have no idea.

So we are following a taxi.

- Let's go, man.

- The last team to be checked in will be eliminated.

- I think I might see a flag on that wall.

- [Ken] There's a flag, Gerard, there's a flag.

- Okay, good, good, good.

- Hey, man, we just moved up two spots.

- That's right, baby.

That's right, baby. - Two spots.

[car engine revving]

- [Gerard] Okay, let's go.

[suspenseful music]

- [Ken] Gerard, the flag is up here.

- [Gerard] Here it is, here it is, here it is.

[music continues]

- Hey, Phil. - Hey, Phil.

Oh my goodness. - Hey.

- Welcome to Morocco.

- Thank you. - Thank you.

- Ken and Gerard.

You're team number one.

- [Together] Yes!

- All right!

- Now I've got some good news for you.

- What?

- As the winners of this fifth leg of the race,

you've each won a Kodak easyshare digital camera,

which you can enjoy after the race.

- Nice! - Very nice.

[suspenseful music]

- [Damon] We're making progress.

First place is right in front of us now.

- Andre and Damon.

- [Damon] Yes, sir.

- You're team number two.

- Yeah, baby.

- Merci.

It sucks.

It sucks being in the back of the pack.

- Derek and Drew, you're team number three.

- All right. - Very nice.

- You wanna do it 'cause it might be something eating?

- Yeah, I'll do it.

- All right, you do it.

- This is nasty.

Not so keen sense of smell.

That's you.

- Okay.

- Sense of smell, that's not, that's you.

[suspenseful music]

- [Zach] What is this stuff?

Oh yeah.

- Boy is this disgusting.

- Only team that hasn't arrived is Mike and Kathy.

- I think they're gonna come,

and then they're gonna be on this bus.

That's my prediction.

- I say they're not.

- All right, I hope you're right.

[suspenseful music]

- [Zach] Back to the gate.

- Okay.

- Turn on the air conditioning.

- We don't know where Teri and Ian are.

Hopefully not near.

- [Ian] Let's get in the vehicle.

- Okay.

- [Aaron] Mike and Kathy, we don't know where they are.

They might actually be ahead of us.

We've been up and down, but I mean,

if the other teams could be at the bottom and get back up

to the top then so can we.

- Come on, guys.

- John Vito and Jill, Flo and Zach.

You're teams number four.

[Jill and Flo cheering]

- [Teri] Let's go.

- [Ian] You might as well wait for me.

- Teri and Ian, you're team number six.

[Teri panting]

- Ah!

Oh, man.

Here it is.

Oh my God.

Oh my God.

I think we're pulling in last.

[both panting]

- Aaron and Arianne.

You're team number seven.

[Arianne laughs]

- Oh my God.

Oh my God.

[relaxing music]

[melancholic music]

- Michael and Kathy.

You're the last team to arrive.

- Surprise, surprise.

- I'm sorry to tell you, you've both been eliminated

from the race.

- We were ready.

- You guys really hadn't spent a lot of time together

for extended periods of time,

and you've certainly done that. [chuckles]

Are you gonna keep this long distance thing going

or are you gonna get closer together?

- No, it's all over.

It's time for her to move to San Diego.

I'm gonna get her over to my side.

Best side, the west side.

We'll be straight from there.

- We told each other before we left on this race,

you know, it was gonna change our lives for good or bad.

I deep down knew it would be for the good.

[ethereal music]

- [Narrator] Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode.

On the next episode of The Amazing Race.

The road to Marrakesh leads to confrontation.

- [Flo] No, this is mine.

- I paid his tab, he's mine.

- [Flo] You don't need to yell.

- [Narrator] An all terrain detour

shakes Aaron and Arianne's confidence.

- Because you scream, I freak out.

- [Narrator] And teams scramble to avoid elimination.

[air whooshes]

[upbeat piano tune]

[intense music]

[music continues]
