06x03 - Counting Bears Is Not Rocket Science

Post by bunniefuu »

Phil: Previously on "The Amazing Race"...

from Reykjavik, Iceland

and raced all the way
to the town of Voss, Norway.

A feud over Adam's lost sunglasses

brought Rebecca to tears.

Adam: I'm never going to
talk to you to the rest of my life.

Our relationship is so bad.

Do you want me
to jump in the tracks?

I'm going to jump in the tracks.

Phil: And things got worse
for Adam and Rebecca

when Don and Mary Jean took their car.

This is not our car!

Don: You've got to be kidding me.

Phil: Freddy and Kendra lost their clue

and broke the rules by taking another.

You're receiving a 30-minute penalty.

Sweetie, come here.

Phil: Dating actors Hayden and Aaron

stumbled through the detour.

Hayden: I'm sorry,
I thought we could do this.

I told you I didn't know how to... ski.

Phil: Roommates Meredith and Maria
had trouble driving a stick...

I can't do it!

And ultimately came in last place.

Phil: You've both been
eliminated from the race.

Now 9 teams remain.

Who will be eliminated next?

Phil: This is Norway,
a picturesque country

whose landscape remains
relatively untouched

by the modern world.

And in the heart of the Norwegian
countryside, Nesheimstunet,

this was  the second pit stop

in a race around the world.

Teams arrived here at
the end of the last leg

for a mandatory rest period.

The 9 teams waiting here have no
idea what's in store for them.

They have to figure out for themselves

how to get to the next
yellow and red route marker

by solving clues they'll
find in sealed envelopes.

Will Adam and Rebecca's
turbulent relationship

become an obstacle they can't over come?

Will Kristy and Lena remain in last place,

or will their determination
move them closer

to the head of the pack?

Kris and Jon, who were
first to arrive at 2:47 P.M.,

will depart at 2:47 A.M.

Take a bus to Stockholm, Sweden.

Phil: Teams must now drive themselves

Then, traveling by train and bus,

teams will make their way more than

When they arrive, teams
must search for this hotel,

where they'll find the ice bar,

a nightclub made entirely of ice.

This is where
they'll find their next clue.

Jon: This leg of the race,

we're hoping to stay the course

and do the best we can.

We want to stay ahead of the
pack and to for the gold.

Once there, go to Ice Bar,

where you will find your next clue.

Victoria: Jonathan and I are bickering now

because he has his
own way of doing things,

and sometimes that can cause friction,

but it's one of the things I love
the most, because he's never boring.

I have a Swedish friend.

You don't think I've heard about it?

Please, Victoria, please.

Gus: You have $363
for this leg of the race.

Saddle up. Let's go.

I'm proud of my father.

He's been able to do things

I didn't think he was capable of doing.

He's not in the best shape of his life.

The one thing I can say is he's die-hard.

Take a bus to Stockholm, Sweden.

Aaron and I are in it to win.

I'm not going to do
anything halfheartedly.

And generally, when I give
it my best, I'm successful.

Go to the Ice Bar, where
you'll find your next clue.

Bolo: This race has affected me

like I never would have thought before.

When you have 6 hours of sleep in 4 days,

you're stressed out because of
what you're going to do next,

it's overwhelming.

Travel by train to the city of Oslo.

The fact that I can take care of
Rebecca hasn't come out so much

because she's had to take care of me a lot

because I'm scared  of a lot of things.

Adam's like a 5-year-old a lot of the time.

Am I his girlfriend, his
mother, his babysitter?

Pay attention. Let's try not to
make mistakes on the way down.

$363.

We're on our way.

I think Freddy is going to see

it does him no good to beat himself up

about little mistakes.

I honestly believe we
still have a great chance

of winning this race.

Phil: Don and Mary Jean,

who arrived at the pit
stop in seventh place,

will be leaving in eighth
place due to a penalty.

In the previous leg, they
accidentally drove away

in a car belonging
to Adam and Rebecca.

They eventually returned the car,

but because they put Adam and
Rebecca at a disadvantage,

they received a penalty of 30 minutes.

Stockholm, Sweden.

Let's go.

Don and I came into this race

thinking it was our
experience and intelligence

that would get us through.

We haven't used any of
the abilities we have.

I've got to remember where
the train station was.

Travel by train to the city of Oslo.

We're taking a bus to Stockholm, Sweden.

We want to depend  on others on this leg

as little as possible.

We want to try to do things on our own.

Good morning.

We're trying to find information

on the first train into Oslo.

Jonathan: Train station is right up here.

Find out when the train to Oslo is.

Come on, let's go.

I don't understand why
you're not hustling here.

I don't know what this means.

What's going on?

Jonathan: Nothing's open, nothing's around.

All the teams will be here.

Hey, it doesn't open until 6:00.

Kris: Until 6:00?

There's a train back that way.

We can't go this way.

Why not?

Because there's a sign.

Turn around!

Well, don't yell.

I'm sorry.

Very good. Very good.

Come on, let's hustle.

It's not even open yet, is it?

Is the train station even open?

Gus: Not until 6:00.

No point in running. They
don't open until 6:00.

Oh, it's not open.

Phil: All 9 teams are traveling together

by train and bus to Stockholm, Sweden.

Come on. Sorry.

You guys, come on.

This way, this way.

Through the train station, then upstairs.

Come on.

Did you see where Hayden and them went?

Victoria!

Where are you going? This way.

This is mine, this is yours.

They're going a different way.

Let them go.

Do you know where the Ice Bar is?

Come on.

Let's go, we got them.

This should be it.

This isn't the right street name.

Where's the Ice Bar?

Hayden: Aaron, come on.

Go inside and slide a shot glass
made of ice across the bar.

Phil: Teams must now put on these parkas

and enter this nightclub made of ice

and kept at a chilling  23 degrees.

Once inside, they have to slide
a shot glass along the bar

and hit this target.

Only one team member
needs to hit the target

to get the next clue.

If they miss...

they'll have to go to the end of the line.

All right.

Slide a shot glass made of ice.

Hi!

It's hard.

Hit the targeted area,

and the bartender  will
give you  the next clue.

Read it.

Hit the targeted area,

and the bartender  will
give you  the next clue.

Victoria!

I'm right here, Jon! Shut up!

Damn it.

Here it is. Go in here.

Slide a shot glass made of ice.

Hit the targeted area,

and the bartender will
give you your next clue.

Hera, this should be the street there.

This one?

Yeah!

Make your way to the nearby
neighborhood Kungens Kurva

and find the world's largest Ikea store.

Phil: Teams must now
make their ways 9 miles

to the world's largest Ikea store.

Once there, they must search the store

to find their next clue.

Let's go.

Taxi.

Hey, that was so nice.

Hold on a second. That's
not the right street.

We've got to talk to someone
who knows what they're doing.

Lori: Whoo! Yes!

Let's go.

Whoo, yeah! We did it.

Ok, thank you.

Do you know what street this is?

Something's wrong.

Can you run?

Not much more.

Find the world's largest Ikea.

You know where the big Ikea is? Good.

What a time to get lost.

I can't do this.

Somebody help us.

Excuse me, do you know
where the Ice Bar is?

I'm looking for the North
Sea Hotel and the Ice Bar.

Hera: There it is!

Hurry up.

Slide a shot glass made
of ice across the bar.

Magic one.

What was that?

Yeah, baby!

Make your way to the
neighborhood known as...

Kungens Kurva.

- Good job.
- Thanks.

- Good job.
- Good job.

Ikea. Take us to Ikea.

Rebecca: Yes! Thank you.

Find the world's largest Ikea store.

You know where this place is? The Ikea?

Gus: Thank you.

Freddy: It's just you and me.

Yes! Yes!

- Taxi?
- Taxi.

I think the Ice Bar was about patience.

We got there last and
didn't end up leaving last.

Find the world's largest Ikea store.

Jon: Where's the front door?

You've got to be kidding me.

Thank you.

It's not gonna happen till the morning.

Let's walk around.

Let's go, Rebecca.

Hera: What time does it open?

It's closed till 10:00.

A new day, sweetheart.

Aaron: Hurry, hurry, hurry, Hayden.

You guys go left.

You look to the right. I'm looking left.

Separate.

Look high and low, you guys.

Second floor.

Here, honey, honey.

Come on, Lori!

Detour.

Phil: A detour is a choice between 2 tasks,

each with its own pros and cons.

In this detour, they have
to perform one of 2 tasks

that might be a assigned
to an Ikea employee.

The choice... count it or build it.

In Count It, they must
choose a series of 3 bins

and count every pot, pan,
and stuffed animal inside.

When their inventory is complete,

they must go to the supervisor

and tell them the count.

If they're right, they get the clue.

If not,  they count again.

The correct number of items is 2,304.

In Build It, they have to
build this desk correctly,

using every single part given to them.

If they make a mistake, they must fix it,

or in the worst case scenario, start over.

Let's try that one. Where's the area?

We're gonna do the count.

Maybe we should build something.

Should we build a desk?

I thought building might
just be a complicated thing

and so opted to count the bears.

We're going to do the counting.

Slow down, we'll find it.

Victoria: Where is it?

Assemble it. You're good at that.

Feel lucky.

John...[whistling]

I don't know what to do.

Should we build it?

Count it or build it.

Let's go count it.

What do we do? Build it or count it?

I think we should count it and split it up.

I'd like to build it. I'm better at that.

Right here. Right here.

That ain't a marked area.

OK, I was just looking.

OK. We're the first people here.

Oh, my God, you guys. Should we build?

This is gonna take forever. I'm building.

Open up boxes.

I'll count these little ones,

and you count  the pans.

You're gonna write down all
the pans when you're Done,

I'm gonna write down all the stuffed
animals. Then we'll combine them.

I don't know about this, though.

Those are 2 pans.

I'll count the big pots and pans.

Pots and pans together.

What do you mean downstairs?

Both tasks... oh, my God. Thank you.

Find the directions. Place everything out.

Where's the next one?

Do you see directions?

Be careful not to break anything.

Start with twos.

Rebecca, Shh!

Do the same thing for that. You got it.

I don't understand.

The big pegs don't fit the little pegs.

Oh, my God, help me here.

I don't know how to work
with you right now.

Stop, stop.

I lost count without a pen.

We might have to recount these.

No, you didn't.

Don: Here they are.

Count as I count.

You count out loud.

I got 71.

I'm sorry. It's not correct.

You were counting these as one. Redo them.

This is our number.

OK, this is fun.

I'm losing my mind.

It hangs off the side that way,

but where do the pegs go?

Stop with the pegs! Don't yell.

Kris: OK, go.

OK, it's on.

OK.

Jon: Pretty nice, huh?

Thank you very much.

Travel by train to Häggvik Station.

Phil: Teams must travel by train

Once in Häggvik, they
must ride a tandem bike

where they'll find their next clue.

Kris: How do we get back
to the main entrance?

We have to count them again. Let's go.

This is ready to lift up.

To build something,

one person has to just figure it out.

My dad was the surgeon,
and I was the nurse.

Ok.

Thank you.

They got their clue, Victoria.

Finished.

Thank you.

Travel by train to Häggvik.

Should we run there?

Gus: Taxi.

So the subway station,

as fast as possible, thank you.

This way.

Baby, I want to run.

Don't tell me it's all right.

I can't count these again. I can't.

No, sorry.

It's gotta be this last one.

We need to zone everybody out

and be careful with these.

We've been working really well together.

We were counting together in sync.
It made it easier.

Yes.

OK.

Good luck.

Let's go.

I love your country.

Ok. Thank you.

Do you know where this is?

Yeah.

Yes, subway.

The subway station.

Thank you, sir. Appreciate your help.

Let's go. Hurry up.

Gus: You see it? How far?

It's not very far. Just walk.

We need 2 tickets for the train to...

Häggvik Station.

Do you take U.S. Dollars?

Gus: Go, run.

Change it all!

How much a person? We need 2.

Kris: Nice work on the desk.

Did you hear Jonathan
screaming at Victoria?

Shut up and let me talk!

We've got to go here. We are here.

No, we've got to go there.

We're not... no!

Can I talk to him?

Will you let me talk for a second?

Thank you.

Is that the train?

Is this the train right here?

Let's go. Get on this train.

Is it 2,304?

Kendra: Finally.

Oh, man!

Freddy: Let's roll.

Is it 2,304?

Oh, my God!

Man: Well done. Congratulations.

That's not correct.

Oh, man!

Please, we're the oldest people.

That's got to be.

Woman: What do you say?

[muttering]

I'm sorry, no.

We're 40 years older than the rest of them.

I'm sorry.

If I say it? 2,099?

No, I'm...

Don, is it wrong?

It's wrong. I don't believe it.

This is freaking ridiculous.

This is freaking  ridiculous, man.

So we're going to count again?

I was dead.

I was absolutely out of
my mind with fatigue.

It's not rocket science to count bears,

and I thought i couldn't do it.

I've got to recount the other ones.

Count them again.

What are you doing? You didn't...

How many did you put in there?

I hope it was just 2. Was it 2?

I hope.

Get on the subway.

The subway? That's not the train.

That's a train.

Train station.

Do you know this place? It's very close.

That's where we need to go.

Let's go, taxi.

Skärholmen Station.

Honey, helmet.

Ok, I'm on.

Aaron, let me get on.

Pedal, pedal.

Pedal, pedal, pedal.

Oh, my God. I can't see at all.

Your backpack is hitting me.

Thank you.

This train.

Thank you.

Wait, wait, wait.

When does the next one come?

The other teams can easily
catch up with us now.

I think that's our count, sweetheart.

Bolo: Add that to that.

If not, we've got to do something.

I'm sorry. It's wrong.

M.J., Let's go ahead and
try to build a desk.

OK. That's a great idea.

That's not correct.

Let's go build. We're going to build.

Got to get the directions. Do this quick.

This feels fantastic,

just cruising in Stockholm.

You might want to get off the
gravel and onto the dirt.

Good job, baby!

Hey, hey, we've got to stop at this yield.

This is the first of only 3
yields on the entire race.

At this location, one team can force

any other team to yield...

That is, stop racing for a
predetermined amount of time.

Teams can exercise the yield
power only once during the race,

so they need to decide

when it's most advantageous to use it.

Any team forced to yield

must turn this hourglass upside down

and wait for the sand to run
out before they continue on.

We choose not to yield anyone.

Roadblock.

Who's got hay fever?

A roadblock is a task only
one person can perform,

and no person can complete
more than 6 roadblocks

on the entire race.

In this roadblock,

one team member has to unroll bales of hay

until they find a clue inside.

There are 270 hay bales

and only 20 clues hidden.

Each person will have to unroll

as many hay bales as it
takes to find a clue.

You have hay fever.

Do you want me to do it?

Come on, you've got it.

Oh, they keep rolling it out.

This could take a while.

Kris: Good job, Jon.

Good job, baby.

Dig, baby, dig.

Gus: Ready? Let's go.

The seat's too high.

We're already doing it.

Lena: That's the wrong way.

Kristy: No, it's not.

Come on, hurry up.

Watch out for the car!

Honey, come on!

Honey, on the outer edge,

there's less bales in the way.

Kris: Nice work, baby. Nice work!

Kris: Whoo!

Yeah, baby, yeah!

Make your way to the next
pit stop, af Chapman in Stockholm.

Phil: Using the same tandem bikes,

teams must ride 2 miles
back to Häggvik Station

and then travel back to Stockholm.

When in Stockholm,

then they must find a well-known ship

 called "The Af Chapman."

Once a floating barracs
for the Swedish navy,

This is the pit stop for
this leg of the race.

We've got to make time up here.

Hallelujah!

Make your way to the next pit stop.

Lock them down.

It's starting to rain, great!

We're going to have  to ride in the rain.

All right, baby.

You're doing great.

Yeah!

We haven't been yielded,

we're not going  to yield anybody.

Kristy: You have to unroll
them until you find the clue.

Push it downhill. It might be easier.

Unroll another one.

You may have to go through several.

We're not being yielded,

and no one's yielding us.

Who is going to go for hay? Victoria.

We're not going to yield anybody.

I got hay fever.

Jonathan: Why do you keep pushing that?

Go to another one.

Is it not in every hay bale?

I can't breathe.

[wheezing]

Just take a breath.

Stop and take a breath.

I have hay fever, and my hands are cut...

from the hay and this
stuff they seal it with.

Hera: Go ahead, Daddy, rip at it, k*ll it.

This is a rough one.

Kris: Hi, guys.

Good job. That sucked.

That's it.

It doesn't reach.

See, it's got to catch.

Ours won't catch.

Congratulations.

Whoo!

After 5 hours.

We've got to go back to the train station.

Get a taxi and go back
to the train station.

The train's right here, isn't it?

Mary Jean: Oh, my God, we're still here.

How can we be the last people?

I can't believe it.

We can do it, Don.

Is it in?

Yeah. Amazing.

There it is.

You've got to put one in here.

Next one!

Keep working!

This is horrible.

Jonathan: Take a minute and relax.

She's gonna pass out.
She's gonna hurt herself.

Jon!

Good girl, babe!

Good girl!

Make your way to the next pit stop...

"Af Chapman" in Stockholm.

I don't want to lose our lead.

We're going the right way.

Which one is it? The big one over there?

Welcome to Stockholm, Sweden.

Thank you. Beautiful city.

Phil: Hayden and Aaron,
you're team number one.

All right.

As winners of this leg of the race,

you've won a 7-night cruise vacation

to the Mexican Riviera,

compliments of Royal
Caribbean International.

Now, what's going on?

Your friends here are patiently
waiting off the mat.

Kris and Jon, you're team number 2.

Nice.

You got it?

Good job, Daddy.

Good luck. That's tough.

I don't know how to help.

All right. Nobody has yielded us.

I'll do it. All right.

Maybe try...

hey, try this one.

What is this?

Hi, guys.

There's no yield. We elect not to use it.

Who's got hay fever? Freddy does.

I got hay fever.

You're doing great, honey.

You're so strong.

You're rolling it faster than the boys.

Yes, you're all done.

I love you.

I love you, too.

I hope this says go to the hospital.

You've got the clue?

Skärholmen subway station.

How much? We don't have much money.

Geez, my hands are totally cut up.

It's OK. Keep with it.

Stay strong.

The things we go through

for a chance to win $1 million...

Make your way to the next pit stop.

When we get there, figure out
where we're getting off.

I don't know where we are.

Where on this island could it be?

Is it on the boat?

I don't see anybody.

I don't see anybody either.

We probably shouldn't walk it, huh?

No, let's take the bus.

That's the one we want, right?

We've walked around this island 3 times.

It's got to be up front or something.

All right.

You see the flag?

Yes, I do. I see flags.

Phil: Gus and Hera, you're team number 3.

Don't tell me it's on the other side.

Is that another team?

There it is.

Phil: Jonathan and Victoria...

you're team number 4.

Whoa!

Kristy: I don't think there's
one other girl in this race

that could be doing this.

She's a trooper.

I'm proud of you, honey!

Pay dirt! Yay!

It's easy to spot, Lena.

Make your way to the next pit stop...

"Af Chapman" in Stockholm.

I don't understand why
it's so hard to find.

Phil: Adam and Rebecca,
you're team number 5.

Yeah!

Go.

Come on, baby.

Here's the box.

We can catch up.

Kristy: Bolo and Lori are here.

We're not yielding anybody.

And we haven't been yielded.

You got it?

You're the strongest person to do it.

Lena: Oh, my gosh, my arms.

This is it.

It's between the 3 of us.

What is the task?

We've got to roll a bale of hay.

Unravel it.

Roll out the hay bales
until you find a clue!

Move on?

Mary Jean: Go, Don. You can do it.

Go. $1 million.

Bolo, come on.

You've got to go fast.

I can't believe there's
another team along with us.

Go, Don. I love you!

Lori: Roll, roll, and look for your clue.

Mary Jean: Roll it forward if you can, Don.

We can beat them, Lena.

Oh, my God.

[Don coughing]

Come on.

Depending on how thirsty you are,

come out to me and get this.

Make your way to the next pit stop.

We've got to go back.

Let's go.

Can't wiggle back there.

Need to be still.

Phil: Freddy and Kendra...

you're team number 6.

Whoo!

Have you ever had a day
that's just not your day?

Baby, this ain't mine.

Look behind you, Don.

Is there anything behind you?

Kristy: Keep it up. You're strong.

You're not out yet, Lena.

Go, Don!

Pretty soon, there won't be any bales left.

Shred it up.

Mary Jean: Oh, Don!

Oh, my God!

I can't believe this.

I love you so much for doing that.

I can't believe you had to do that.

Pedal like we've never pedaled before.

Oh, my God!

Phil: Lori and Bolo...

you're team number 7.

Whoo!

Phil: Let these guys come on in.

Phil: Don and Mary Jean...

you are team number 8.

I don't know what to do.

I'm sure there's a bunch of piles

all over that haven't
been rummaged through.

Why not just go through all of them?

Because my back hurts,

and I don't want to sit
here for another 7 hours.

What if it's non-elimination?

You never know.

Kristy, I feel horrible.

I know.

You've worked harder than anybody else

that came out here by far.

There's, like, 3 or 4 more to check.

Phil: Lena and Kristy?

The last team checked in
more than 2 hours ago.

Lena, you've been out
here for 8 hours plus...

Pushed over more than 100
hay bales, we figure.

Unfortunately, this is an elimination leg,

and you've been eliminated from the race.

She was my best friend. We
didn't get in any quarrels.

She was an excellent decision maker.

She was a great partner.

She's an amazing person.

Phil: What made you carry on?

Probably just not disappointing Kristy.

I mean, I know this is a big deal for her.

I didn't want to be the one to ruin it.

Phil: Stay tuned for scenes
from our next episode.

Phil: On the next episode
of "The Amazing Race"...

pro wrestlers Lori and
Bolo fight toe-to-toe...

- You want to go to jail?
- I don't care. You're an idiot.

While former daters Adam
and Rebecca square off.

You're a man! You've got girls doing this!

Shut up!

And Don lets his true
feelings show for Mary Jean.

[crying] I'm so proud of her.
