Now, where's that bug?

Oh! [laughter]

Hi there! It's you.
It's so good to see you.

Come on in!

Well…
[sniffing]

Wait a minute…

What's that smell?

[sniffing]

Hm?

[sniffing]

Huh, it's you!

[sniffs] Aaaah!

Tell me.
Were you just under a blanket?

Because you smell
all warm and toasty!

[sniffs] Aaaah!

Or maybe you smell this good
all the time. [chuckles]

-Bear! Bear! Bear! Bear!
-Oh!

-Hey, Ojo.
-Bear! Bear! C'mere.

Come see! Come see!

What is it, Ojo?
You look excited.

I am, Bear! There's this
thing-

it's out by the pond. It's
really cool

has lots of legs…
and it's crawling around…

it's crawling
all over the place.

-It' s near the big log.
-Ojo, Ojo. Calm down,

I can't understand
what you're saying…

A bug, Bear! A bug!

A bug?

Come on, Bear. I've never seen
one like this before. Come on!

Oh… Okay, Ojo.
I'm coming! I'm coming!

Hey! Do you want to see
the bug too? Come on.

Coming, Ojo.

-Over here, Bear. Over here.
-I'm coming. I'm coming, Ojo.

Now, where is this amazing bug?

Okay. Well,
I was leaning on this log

and I was looking at
a leaf when all of the sudden

this bug ran right over my foot!

He ran over your foot?
Well, did it hurt?

[chuckles] No, no,
no no, silly. It tickled!

Well, which way did it go?

Well, I think it went
under this log here, Bear!

Let's take a look.

There she is!
Hey, bug!

Hey, yeah! That is a really
interesting looking bug.

Would you like
to look at the bug?

Well, why don't you look
through my… magnifying glass!

Oh! She sure is
different looking.

She sure is.
Be careful, Ojo.

It's a good idea
to be careful around a bug

you've never seen before.

Wow.

Look at all those legs.

[Bear hums]

And look at all those
horny things

that she has growing out of her
face!

Those help her grab food.

Really? That's a good idea
to have your hands

right near
your mouth.

You loose less food that way.

[chukles]

She's pretty weird
looking, Bear?

Hm hm.

Hey, I wonder what
we look like to her?

-I bet we look pretty big….
-Yeah, Ojo.

Oh, look, Bear. Look!

-She's walking upside down!
-Yeah.

Oh, man, Bear,
bugs do the coolest things!

Yeah.

Look, there she goes.

-Bugs are great!
-Yeah, bugs.

Yeah, bugs!

You know what?
Bugs do lots of great things.

Like, um…
they make places to live in.

And, urn… some bugs
make nests in the ground

Oh!

Look! An ant village.

And some bugs fly around
looking for food.

[fly buzzing]

Sometimes they even
fly into your house.

But if they do, you
should let them out

because bugs
belong outside.

Aha.

And there are so many
different kinds of bugs

Houseflies, dragonflies,
crickets, ladybugs,

praying mantises, mosquitoes…

June bugs, dune bugs,
Japanese beetles.

Phew!

[chukles]

That's a lot of bugs, Bear!

How many bugs are there?

Actually, Ojo, there are
more bugs on Earth

than all the animals put
together?

-Really?
-Hmm-mm.

Wow!

I wonder what it would
be like to be a bug?

-Well, I think it'd be great…
-And weird.

Hey, Bear, I want to be a bug.
I want to be a bug.

♪ I like to squirm ♪

♪ Do you wanna be a worm? ♪

♪ I like to chew, too ♪

♪ Caterpillars do ♪

♪ I wanna be a pest ♪

♪ I know what's coming next! ♪

You do?

♪ Then you wanna be a moth ♪

♪ I like to buzz ♪

♪ That's what a bee does ♪

♪ Tell me who stayed hid? ♪

♪ Chirp, cheep, crawl, creep
I want to be a bug ♪

A big bad bug ♪

♪ With a lot of legs
And an ugly mug ♪

♪ Or a butterfly
That flutters by ♪

While rubbin' our legs ♪

A hundred thousand eggs ♪

Maybe they do.

♪ Well fireflies do ♪

♪ Do you wanna be a gnat ♪

Hey, Bear,
I wonder where my bug went?

Well, I'm going to go find her.

-Bye, Bear.
-Okay, Ojo, see you later.

Bugs are great, huh?

But what is your favorite bug?
Hm?

What do you think?

My favorite bug is a butterfly.

My favorite bug is a spider.

Centipede.

-Ay!
-Yuck!

Erm… mosquitoes.

They can bite you.

Just a little tiny one…

Ladybugs are nice…

I like butterflies.
They're pretty.

Grasshopper.

-It goes cricket cricket…
-Tornado bugs.

They have big claws right here.

It has two antennas
sticking out…

And they climb on you
with their legs.

Yuck! Yucky!

Wow. You sure do know
a lot about bugs.

[Old Macdonald had
a farm music play]

Bear, oh, hi, Bear.

Oh,
hey, Tutter what are you up to?

I was just going
to have a snack, Bear.

Would you like to join me?

Oh, I'd love to Tutter.
What's on the menu?

Well, I have some fresh tomatoes
from my little garden here.

-[sniffing]
-Aaah!

-They smell so good Tutter.
-Yeah. Yeah, Bear.

So, Bear.
What have you been up to today?

I just came back
from the Otter pond.

Ojo found this really cool
bug.

[screams]

Tutter?

Tutter?

Bear! Bear! I'm down here!

Tutter, Tutter,
what's the matter?

The matter? What's the
matter!

The matter is… bugs,
Bear, bugs!

[shivering]

But, Tutter,
it was just a little bug.

Little? Little bug!

It may be little to a big old
bear like you, but to a mouse

they're giants!

Giants I tell you!

Well, Tutter I can understand
why you're worried but…

Yeah, I'm worried, Bear.

Those bugs with their pinchers,

and crazy wiggling antennas
and the wings fluttering.

[wriggle]

Tutter.
Tutter, Tutter. Breathe in.

[fearful sound]

-Breathe out.
-[sighs]

Now, Tutter, the bug is
waaaaay out at the Otter Pond,

and you're in here.

Oh, you don't know
these bugs like I do, Bear.

One minute they're out there.

And the next minute

they're right
in your face,

eating all your food!

[gasps]

Just don't let Ojo bring
it in the house, Bear, okay?

-Okay, Tutter, I'll tell her.
-[sighs]

Some of us don't like
to be around bugs

but, that's okay, too.

Yeah!

But, you know, Tutter,
some bugs are very useful.

Well,
that's all well and good, Bear.

All well and good.

But, if you don't mind,

I'd rather bugs not be useful
around me!

See you later Bear, good-bye.

-Okay, Tutter. Bye bye.
-Bye now.

Tutter sure is worried
about that bug.

But you know, bugs aren't here
to bother us or to scare us.

They're just here.
..doing their own thing.

[Shadow laghing]

Did you hear that?

[Shadow humming]

That sounds like Shadow.

Let's go find her.

Now remember if we look real
hard and sing a song together,

she might appear, ready?

where is Shadow? ♪

♪ Where- o where-o
where is Shadow? ♪

♪ Where-o where-o
where is Shadow? ♪

♪ Where can Shadow be… ♪

Hm…

Shadow!

[Shadow laghing]

Hey, you big ol' Bear!!

-I'm right here!
-[laughs]

So good to see you. Shadow!

So, what have you
been doing today?

Well, Bear, I was just
skittering about

the trees
with my spider friend.

You know,
I can walk just like her, Bear.

Really?

Hey, look, walking up
the wall just like a spider.

[both laughing]

That's pretty good.

Well, Shadow, I was wondering
would you tell us…

A story?

Say no more, Bear.

You don't have to
bug me for a good tale.

[both laughing]

Just watch.

♪ Lady bug, lady bug
Fly away home ♪

♪ Your house is on fire ♪

My house is on fire?

Come on
kids, lets get in the truck!

[imitate siren wailling]

[imitate horn honking]

Get out of the way.
I'm coming through-

[imitate horn honking]

[whirring]

-Help me hook up the hose, kids.
-Okay, Ma.

[grunting]

Hooray!

What happened?

Your house was struck
by lighting bugs.

It's a good thing we live
next to the fire plugs.

Hm hm!

Wow! What a great story.

I love ladybugs.
They're so friendly.

Oh, yes, Bear. They'll sit right
on your finger if you let them.

Well, I'm off.
But if you need another story,

just try and catch me!

[both laughs]

Thanks, Shadow. Bye-bye!

Now, let's go back
and see if Tutter's doing.

-Bear? Bear?
-Treelo!

Something with Tutter!

Something
with Tutter! Come here, Bear.

Something with Tutter?
But, Treelo…

Let's go see
what's up with Tutter. Come on!

I'm looking for you, bug.

You're not going to sneak
up on this mouse. Wait!

Wait! I see them! Two bugs!

Boy. Really furry ones, too!
One's big and brown

and the other one's
green and white and…

No! They're getting closer!

[screams]

Tutter?

-It's Bear.
-And Treelo.

Oh.

It's just you two.

You scared me out of my wits.

[chuckles]

Sorry Tutter!

We didn't mean to, Tutter,

but what's
with all the sandbags?

A mouse has to protect his home,
doesn't he?

[inaudible]

-From what?
-An invasion!

An invasion of bugs!

Treelo,
Ojo found a bug out by the pond.

A bug. But, Tutter,
there's nothing to worry about.

That kind of bug
never comes inside.

No come inside.

-Hey, everybody.
-Hey, Ojo.

Ojo, I thought you were
out looking for your bug?

Well, I was and I followed him
right in the front door…

What?!

[grunts]

The bug's in the house!
The bug's in the house!

Red alert!

Tutter, calm down!

Treelo and Ojo and I will
look for the bug

and take him back outside.

Ok, Bear.

Here buggy, buggy, buggy.

Here, Bug! Here, Bug! Here, Bug!
Buggy, buggy, buggy…

-Tutter…
-Buggy.

-Ah! Buggy!
-…do you want to come with us?

Oh! Um…

No thanks, Bear.

I'll stay right here on alert.

For you realize, Bear,

there comes a time
in every mouse's life

when he is tested by fate

when he must stand or fall

when he against the pomp and
circum.

Okay, okay, Tutter.

-I'll be right, back.
-Oh…

[gasps]

Okay, Bear. No problem!

After all, what am I?
A mouse…or…a mouse.

Um… erm…

Well, I'll be fine right here.

All alone…

-[Bee humming]
-[gasps]

What was that?

Bear? Bear? Is that you?

Ojo, come on guys,
this isn't funny

[screams]

[dramatic music]

Did you two guys find anything?

We looked everywhere
a bug could be.

Oh, no!

I wonder where she went?

TUTTER: Bear! Bear!

Hey.
That sounds like Tutter.

[gasps]

The bug!

-Let's go!
-Yeah.

-Tutter?
-Tutter?

-Where's Tutter?
-He's gone….

Well, he was right there
when I left him…

I'm over here!

Huh?

[chuckles]

I'm over here, guys!
Come on.

I've got someone
I want you to meet.

Don't worry, Tutter,
she won't hurt you.

It's okay, Ojo!
It's okay.

-Yeah.
-Yeah.

But Tutter,
aren't you afraid of the bug?

Why be scared of a friend?

A friend?

Yeah, I must admit I was
a little scared at first.

But then I noticed that she was
chewing on this weed here.

It's a weed from
my tomato garden.

And, as you all know,

these weeds
are very bad for my garden.

But hey!
This bug loves weeds!

That's one of the
great things about bugs.

This bug loves to eat weeds

and that helps our gardens to
grow.

See, I told you
she was a friend.

Yeah!

Oh, oh! And by the way,
her name is Bertha.

-Oh.
-Hm.

Well, hello, Bertha.

What's that Bertha?

Hm hm. She says
she misses her… log?

Oh.

Well,
um, that's where she lives.

Yeah and bugs
do belong outside.

Hey, do you want to help us
take her to the pond?

Yeah!

To the pond!

-[chuckles]
-Come on!

There you go, Bertha.

You're home.

Nice job, Ojo.

I'm going to miss her,
Bear.

Ojo, you can come visit
her anytime you want.

Hey, guys.

Hey, Pip, Pop!

Whatcha doing?

We were just
bringing Bertha home.

Oh!

So, ya like bugs, do ya?

-Yeah, I love bugs.
-Yeah!

Well, I like Bertha anyway.

Hm… Should we show them, Pip?

I think we can, Pop.

Show us what?

Just maybe the coolest
bug thing of all.

That's all.

Show us! Show us!

[giggles]

Tutter!

Ooooh!

Oh, great!
A bump on a branch.

Hey, that's a show.

This is called a puppa.

It's a bug egg sack,
and inside is a…

Don't spoil it, Bear!

-Oops, sorry, guys…
-Watch.

-What's happening?
-It's moving…

-[blabbering]
-What's coming out…

Oh no!

[moaning]

What a beautiful bug.

Hey, I like this bug too.

It's so small.

Nice discovery, guys.

-Ooooh!
-Aaaah.

We love watching butterflies.

[music]

[laughter]

That sure was fun.

Oh, yeah! It was so neat when
the butterfly flapped its wings

and flew away, wasn't it, Bear?

Yeah. It sure was, Ojo.

Who knew butterflies were bugs!

And who knew this mouse would
ever turn out to be a bug lover!

-[chuckle]
-Who knew!

Tutter, I have some bug
books

with all different kinds
upstairs,

if you want to look at them.

Let's go look at ‘em!
[laughter]

Hold it, you two.
Aren't we forgetting something?

-Brushing our teeth?
-No.

Um…

-Cleaning the house?
-No.

Oh.

Doing the cha cha cha?

No.

You know, we were outside,

crawling around in the dirt,
looking at bugs.

Maybe we should do a little
cleaning of our own?

Maybe upstairs?

-You know…
-Oh.

Oh, yeah. You're right, Bear.

Yeah.
I am feeling especially grimy.

Okay!

You know what that means, then.

Everybody into the tub!

Yay!

Everybody in the tub ♪

♪ The water's gonna get ♪

♪ All the grit
and grime and grub ♪

It's our favorite club ♪

Look weird? ♪

in the Big Blue House.

Great, Luna. Ojo found a really
cool bug out by the pond.

-Well, now, that's exciting.
-Hm hm.

For Treelo and Ojo it was.

But Tutter was a little
afraid of the bug.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.

Oh, that's okay.

Tutter learned that bugs
do some very useful things.

And they became friends.

How about Pip and Pop?

They showed us one of the most
beautiful bugs of all…

The butterfly.

Butterflies are so beautiful.

I love to see them
spread their wings.

True, Luna. True.

Bugs are really interesting.

They certainly are.

Hey, would you like to sing
