[opening door]

[laughter] Oh, there you are!
It's so good to see you.

Wow! It's kind of cloudy
this morning.

But, you know, I think
the Sun is just about to rise!

♪ Oh, when the day begins ♪

♪ I look outside my window ♪

♪ I see the sun has come ♪

♪ To start the morning ♪

♪ Why, bear my friend
It's you! ♪

♪ I'm so glad to see you, too ♪

♪ I've travelled 'round
The whole wide world to say ♪

♪ Good morning, good morning ♪

♪ Good morning from the sun ♪

♪ Good morning, good morning ♪

♪ Good morning everyone ♪

Good morning, Ray!

Good morning, Bear!

So, Ray, what's the weather
going to be like today?

[laughs]

Well, Bear, you know me.

I always like to look on the
sunny-side of things.

[chuckles]

but I must say, there's
a big storm coming your way!

Really?

Well, thanks for telling me.

I guess I better get ready.

But, Ray, before you go,
could you tell me something?

Yes?

When it's raining,
where do you go?

Where does
the sun go when it rains?

Well, Bear, I'm still up here
in my usual place,

high up in the sky waiting
to lighten up the day

and to dry up all the rain.

Wow! Did you know that?

Well thanks for
the weather report!

I hope we see you
again real soon.

I'm certain you will, Bear,

[laughs]

I'm certain you will.

Good Day!

[laughs]

-Good day!
-Bye, Ray.

Well, we'd better get
inside before the rain starts!

Come on!

You know…
[sniffing]

What's that smell?

[sniffing]

I know that smell.

It smells like….
[sniffing] breakfast!

[sniffing]

Hey!

[sniffing]

It's you!

[sniff]

You smell like breakfast today!

Did you eat something
really good for breakfast?

Cause you smell like breakfast.

[sniff]

Aaah! Or do you smell
this good all the time?

-[chuckles]
-[thunder rumbling]

Did you hear that?

Do you know that sound?

[thunder rumbling]

That's right!

That's the sound of thunder.

Thunder is the rumbling sound
you hear when a storm comes.

Well, I better get ready for it.

I might need a flashlight,
some candles, maybe a lantern…

You know,
just in case the lights go out.

[thunder rumbling]

There it is again.

Hey, did you know that
as a storm gets closer

the thunder gets louder?

[fright]

OJO: Watch out Bear!
Coming through!

Ojo? Treelo?

Hey. They looked kind of scared.
Hm…

We better go see what's wrong.

Guys?

[mumbling]

Guys, guys!

Ojo, what's going on?

Well, we were outside, Bear.

And we were going
to play hide-and-go-seek

but then something
terrible started happening!

It sounded like the sky
was falling

and we're really,
really scared!

-[thunderstorm]
-[scream]

Guys, guys, it's ok.
It's just a storm.

And that sound you're
hearing is thunder.

You don't have to be afraid
of that

while you're inside
the Big Blue House.

And you're safe inside your
house when there's a storm, too.

[laughter]

Yay!
The storm can't get us!

[humming]

That's right,

but you know it was really
smart of you guys to come inside

when the storm started.

We weren't really
trying to be smart.

We were just really,
really scared.

-Yeah, Bear.
-Well, that's okay.

There's nothing wrong
with being afraid

of something
that you should be afraid of

like being outside in a storm.

Have you ever been
afraid of a storm?

[rain drops]

Look! It's raining!

[chuckles]

Okay,
I'll see you later, you two.

-Ojo, me no afraid no more.
-Me either, Treelo.

[chuckles]

Yeah, nobody likes to be afraid.

Afraid.

But sometimes, it's good
to be afraid of some things,

because that means you'll
be careful around them.

Like… fire!

You should always
be careful around a fire.

Or when you're outside…
lightning!

[lightning]

Whenever you see lightning,
you should always come inside.

[music]

But

you know, there are
some things that seem scary,

but can't hurt you at all.

Like, when you're inside,

thunder
and lightning can't hurt you.

[thunder rumbling]

And sometimes there are
things on TV that seem scary,

but you don't have
to be afraid of them.

[siren wailling]

Yeah.

Because with TV, you can always
change the channel,

or turn it off.

[click]

Yeah, everybody
gets afraid sometimes.

Even a big old bear like me!

Yeah!

♪ I lie in bed ♪

♪ But I'm wide awake ♪

♪ There's something
on my chair ♪

♪ That makes me start to shake ♪

♪ I bet that it's a monster ♪

♪ 'Cause it doesn't
make a sound ♪

♪ But maybe it will get me ♪

♪ When I turn around ♪

♪ It's a t-shirt
oh silly me ♪

♪ There's nothing
to be afraid of ♪

♪ Turn the lights on ♪

♪ There's no monsters!
See? ♪

♪ There's nothing

♪ You're cozy in your house ♪

♪ In your favorite room ♪

♪ Suddenly outside ♪

♪ You hear a great big boom ♪

♪ Then the sky starts flashing ♪

♪ And you feel an awful chill ♪

♪ You hear something knocking ♪

♪ -On your window sill ♪
-Coming through!

♪ It's a rainstorm ♪

♪ Oh! Silly me ♪

♪ There's nothing
to be afraid of ♪

♪ Rain and thunder ♪

♪ Inside I'm safe as can be ♪

♪ There's nothing
to be afraid of ♪

♪ Oh silly old me ♪

♪ You walk alone ♪

♪ In the middle of the night ♪

♪ The big blue house is dark ♪

♪ Cause you can't
find the light ♪

♪ Suddenly you see ♪

♪ Something move
behind a chair! ♪

♪ Oh! My goodness look! ♪

♪ It's a great big bear ♪

♪ In the mirror ♪

♪ Oh, silly me! ♪

♪ There's nothing
to be afraid of ♪

♪ When something's scary ♪

♪ Turn the lights up
and see ♪

♪ There's nothing
to be afraid of ♪

♪ Oh silly old me ♪

Yeah.

♪ Silly old me ♪

♪ Oh silly old me ♪

But hey,
what do you think?

Have you ever been afraid
of something once,

but aren't afraid of it anymore?
Hm?

What do you think?

We're afraid of…
what are we afraid of?

I'm afraid of spiders.

-Of sharks.
-Bad dreams.

I was afraid of the dark.

I'm afraid of the dark.

We think there's
monsters in our house.

I'm afraid of sewer monsters,
that's what I'm scared of.

Me too.

I've been afraid of monsters.

I'm afraid of monster shadows.

I'm not afraid of that anymore.

Wow. When did you leam so much
about being afraid,

and about being brave, too?

[shout]

OJO: Bear! Bear! Bear!

Bear! Are you sure
the storm can't come inside,

because it really
sounds like it wants to!

Ojo, Treelo, it's ok.

As long as you're inside
the Big Blue House

you don't have
to be afraid

I'm afraid! I'm afraid.

Huh?

Yeah.
I'm really, really afraid!

[whipping]

-Oh! Hi Tutter.
-Hi?

Is that all you can say? “Hi!”

The whole sky is
falling down around us,

making lots of loud awful noises
and all you can say is “hi”?

Tutter, I can understand--

storms can
be scary, sometimes

but, believe me,
we're safe and sound inside.

There's nothing
to be afraid of…

-[thunder rumbling]
-[Bear gasps]

[Ojo and Treelo screaming]

Guys, guys. It's ok.
It's ok.

Look! I have my trusty
Bearcraft flashlight.

huh? Oh!

See, you guys?
Look. Bear's got a flashlight.

-Flashlight.
- Yes.

Yeah. See, Tutter?

Hey, where's Tutter?

Hey. Tutter!

-Tutter!
-Tutter?

-Tutter?
-Tutter!

Hey look.

-Tutter..
-Tutter!

[laughter]

Tutter, it's ok.

Sometimes in a storm
the lights do go out,

but sometimes they come
back on again really soon.

Really?

Really.

And as long as I have
my flashlight, everything's OK.

Well, ok, Bear, ok.

But you know a little noise
to a big old Bear like you

can be an awful
lot of noise

for a little,
bitty mouse like….

[scream]

[shivering]

Tutter?

-Tutter?
-Bear? What's wrong with Tutter?

Look!

Look!

TUTTER [stuttering]: Bear!

It's…it's…
it's a giant mouse!

Tutter, Tutter, it's ok.

It's just your shadow.

It's the shadow

that the flashlight
is making on you.

TUTTER [stuttering]: Me?
Really?

Yes. If you move your tail,

the tail on the shadow
will move, too.

Yeah?

Hey! Yeah! It is me!

-Hey
-Hey! The lights!

Yay!
The lights are back!

Hey, where'd the
giant Tutter go?

See? I told you.
There's nothing to be afraid of.

What? Us?

[laughter]

Afraid? I laugh.

[laughter]

You thought we were afraid?

Who's afraid of
a little old storm.

-Us? No way.
-Yeah!

Oh! I see. My mistake.

Well, I'm glad to
see we worked that out.

But you know, just in case
the lights go out again,

I better
get some candles.

I'll be right back.

-See you later. Bear.
-Goodbye

Hey, Treelo, guess what?
You know what?

We could play hide
and seek inside.

Yeah! Hide and seek!
Play hide and seek!

-Let's play!
-Hey, I want to play, too!

Ok, Tutter. You're it!

[laughter]

But…Me?

But…hey, where'd everybody go?

[music]

[laughter]

Hey, Pip. Look at this.

Look at this funny
purple flowered sheet!

Whoa!

Hey, I got an idea.
Watch this.

[clearing throat]

I'm the purple flower monster.

Oh! Spooky.

I'm the purple flower monster
and I'm coming to get you!

[laughter]

That's funny Pop,
I want to try, too!

Oh!

Ok now, Bear said there's
nothing to be afraid of!

Nothing to be afraid
of in the Big Blue House!

TUTTER: Ojo, Treelo,
where are you guys?

[laughter]

Hey, that's Tutter!

He'll love this!

Yeah!

I wonder if they're
in the bedroom.

Where are you guys?

You know, I'm not sure
I feel like playing anymo…

PIP AND POP: Beware!

We are the two-headed
purple flower monster!

Beware!

There's a two-headed
purple flower monster!

-[scream]
-[Pip and Pop laugh]

Hey, do you think he liked it?

I don't know, let's go ask him.

Hey, where'd everybody go?

Hey, Bear, have you seen Tutter?

We were playing hide-and-go-seek
and he was supposed to find us

and now we can't find him.

I'm sorry, Ojo, I don't know.

In fact,
I haven't even seen Tutter…

[scream]

-[lightning]
-[screams]

Tutter, you scared me!

Yeah, Tutter.

Tutter, what are you
doing hiding in there?

Yeah, Tutter,

we're the ones that
are supposed to be hiding…

and you're
supposed to be seeking!

But there's a two-headed purple
flower monster

up in Bear's
bedroom and it almost got me!

That's silly, Tutter.

[laughter]

[laughter] But Ojo,
Treelo, really, there….

[music]

Tutter?
- Tutter?

[stammering]

There!

[scream]

PIP AND POP: [blabbering]

[screams]

[stammering]

But Bear, I thought
that you said

there was
no such thing as monsters?

There are no such
things as monsters

but I think I know

who this two-headed purple
flower monster is.

-Do you know who it is?
-Beware!

PIP AND POP:
The two-headed

purple flower
monster has come!

Beware!

The two-headed purple
flower monster wants…

[moaning]

you….

Pip and Pop!

You mean that that
two-headed purple flower monster

was Pip and Pop all along?

Yeah, pretty good trick?

Did you like it Tutter?

Like it? Like it!

You scared me!
You scared me!

I didn't like it at all!

Not one little bit!

But, Tutter,
we were just playing.

Yeah we were just
having some fun.

Bear, what's with Tutter?

Well, guys, sometimes what might
be a funny joke or trick to you,

well, to somebody else,
it can be really scary.

Huh…

See? Tutter thought there
really was

a two-headed
purple flower monster

and he was afraid.

But Bear, we were just playing.

Yeah!

Well, let me ask
you this.

How would you feel
if you there really was

a twoheaded purple flower
monster in the house?

Oooh!

-That's scary!
-Really scary!

I don't even want
to think about that.

-Huh!
-Oooh!

We're sorry, Tutter.

Really, really sorry.

Well, well, ok.

I guess.

I really wasn't that
afraid anyway, you know.

[laughter]

Hey, the lights went out!

No, it's going
to get scary again…

It's ok, it's ok, remember?

I have my flashlight…

Oooh!

Flashlight…

Hey, Bear, you know what?

You don't have to worry.

We know it's ok!

We know! Right?

[laughter]

We're not afraid this time.

Treelo not afraid.

Hey, want to make a tent
with this purple flowered sheet!

Yeah!

We can pretend
we're camping out inside!

Yay!

[laughter]
[barking]

Look, it's a doggie!

A doggie. Right.

Next one.

Hey, I know that one!
That's a squirrel!

How does he do that?

[bleating]

It's a goat, Bear. A goat.

That's right, Treelo.
It's a goat.

Hey, Bear, do you think
that Shadow

might come
and tell us a story?

Shadow!
- Now that's a great idea.

Let's sing her song.

Hey. Do you want
to sing along with us?

Yay!

where is Shadow? ♪

♪ Where-o where-o
where is Shadow? ♪

♪ Where-o where-o
where is Shadow? ♪

♪ Where can Shadow be… ♪

Shadow!

[Shadow laughing]

There she is!

Hey, you big ol' B--!
Oh!

Everybody's here!

Yeah, Shadow, so what have you
been up to on this stormy day?

Oh, I was just cheering up
the spider webs in the attic.

They get so droopy
when it rains.

That's awfully nice of you,
Shadow.

Well, we were all wondering
if you could tell us a story?

We love stories.

Story, story, story!
Story, story, story!

Story, story, story!

Well, I'd love to!

Now let me see what kind
of story I can “scare” up!

Just watch.

-♪ Little Miss Muffet ♪
-Hi-ya,

-♪ Sat on the tuffet ♪
-What's a tuffet?

-A short little stool.
-Oh!

-♪ Eating her curds and whey ♪
-What's that?

It's sort of
like…cottage cheese.

Oh!

♪ Along came a spider ♪

-♪ And sat down beside her ♪
-Ha ha ha

♪ And frightened
Miss Muffet away ♪

[groaning]

I'm not afraid of you.

[groaning]

Nope, you're not scary.

Want some curds and whey?

Sure, spiders love
curds and whey!

Miam miam miam

[laughter]

What a great story!

Yeah!

Yes!

[Shadow laughing]

-You love my stories, don't you!

Wow. What a day, huh?

And it looks like the storm
has finally cleared.

Let's go see our friend Luna!

-Ah! Hello, Luna.
-Hello, Bear.

It's so nice to see you.

It was so dark and stormy,

I wasn't sure we'd be able
to have our usual chat.

I know and that would
have been a shame

because so much happened
in the Big Blue House!

-Really?
-Yeah,

everyone was a little scared
by all the thunder and lightning

but inside we were
all perfectly safe.

Mmm. Houses are good for that!

True.

Hey, Luna, I was just wondering

has there ever been
a time when you were afraid?

Oh! Hm…

Well you know Bear everyone
gets afraid now and then.

-Even me.
-Really?

But what do you
do when you're afraid?

Well I learned a long,
long time ago,

that if I just take
a minute and wait,

I almost always feel better.

It's the secret to being brave.
You do it a minute at a time.

-Really? Wow!
-Hm.

Did you know that?

Well, Luna, will you sing
