Well that's them alright.

But they are not as nearlyas scary as I remember them.

I think what happenedwas that the sound the

-But they are not.

-They're not?

-Nope, they're not.

And when you get toknow them a little better

you'll know themfor the creatures thatgrizzly bears really are.

-Well I like toknow them better as long as itdoesn't include them eating me.

Whoaaaa!

-Alright, let's go.

-So, where do we start?

-Let's start by sayingthat these two little

monsters are membersof the bear family.

They are grizzly bears, fast running bears who can

race up to thirtyfive miles an hour.

-They're bearsof the true wilderness, they love wide open spaces.

-They're big.

Standing seven to sevenand a half feet tall and

weighing three hundredto eight hundred pounds.

Butthe funny thing is, they spenda lot of time eating grass.

Now these creaturesare powerful, they'rebig and they have huge paws.

-Plus, they havepretty impressive claws.

Look at this.

Whoa!

And when he getsolder, they're going tobe the size of a crayon.

Really strong claws for rippingopen logs and turning over rocks

and digging holes.

-Well, bears usuallydig for grubs, rodents,

roots, anything inthe ground that they can eat.

Grizzly bears are omnivores.

That means thatthey'll eat everything.

But right now, thesecubs are still only drinkingmilk from their mother.

Hey Chris!

What's it like to havea grizzly bear on your back?

-Hey girl.

-Grizzly bears really don'tclimb except when they're cubs.

The cubs alwayshave to be able to get up intotrees in case there's danger.

But as they get bigger, theyget much too heavy to climb.

Grizzly bears cubs maybe small, but they're strong,

strong enough toturn over boulders that

weigh almost as much as they do.

Grizzly bears aren'tmonsters Zoboo, they'rejust really strong creatures.

-They're fighting now.

-They're not fighting Zoboo.

These two cubs arebrother and sister, they'rewrestling and playing.

-Are you sure they're playing?

-Yeah!

-And playing helps thembecome healthy and strong.

-Well maybe you're right.Maybe I'll play with them.

Hey grizzly bears,do you want to play?

Aaaaaaa! Are you surethey're not going to eat me?

-They're notgoing to eat you Zoboo.

Don't let thisstorm get to your head.

You're letting yourimagination run away with you.

-But what aboutthose claws and teeth?

-Well remember what I was sayingabout the grizzly bear mom

eating grass, well theclaws are used for the exact

same thing and so are the teeth, they're used for getting food.

-Oh! So they'renot going to eat me?

-No.

-Oh! So maybe thesetwo won't seem as scary

if I get to knowthem a little bit better.

-Exactly Zoboo, and Animal Junction is the

only place you can getthis close to grizzly bear cubs.

-Now you can getto know their whole animal

nature and decideif they're scary or not.

Let's look at the waygrizzly bear cubs depend on

their mothers for everything.

-Yeah, when thecubs are this little,

they need a lot ofhelp and protection from mom;

I mean they can'teven feed themselves.

They look to theirmom for their meals and their

mom feeds them hermilk many times a day.

The cubs will drinkfrom her until they are aboutsix or seven months old.

And it's that milkthat helps them grow up to be

big and strong grizzlybears just like mom.

-Listen, can youhear that sound he makes?

-Now he's sucking on my face.

But a grizzly doesn'tjust play in the water, sheloves to chow down on salmon.

She's one great fish catcher.

A grizzly can eat almostone hundred salmon in one hour.
