[MUSIC PLAYING]

-[SINGING] It's a beautiful
day in this neighborhood,

a beautiful day for a neighbor.

Would you be mine?

Could you be mine?

It's a neighborly day
in this beauty-wood,

a neighborly day for a beauty.

Would you be mine?

Could you be mine?

I have always wanted to have
a neighbor just like you.

I've always wanted to live
in a neighborhood with you,

so let's make the most
of this beautiful day.

Since we're together, we might
as well say, would you be mine?

Could you be mine?

Won't you be my neighbor?

Won't you please?

Won't you please?

Please won't you be my neighbor?

Hi, neighbor.

Glad to be with you today.

Did you see that little
box that I brought in?

It's called food coloring.

Yep.

These little things
in here, see this one?

It's got blue on the top.

This one has yellow on the top.

Food coloring.

Some people use
it to color food.

But I'm going to use it
for something else today.

Take it into the
kitchen and show you.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

[SINGING] Please won't
you be my neighbor?

Hi, fish.

First of all, I need some
water in this pitcher.

There.

I'm going to use a couple of
these glasses, two of them.

Put some water in there.

Put some water in there.

Now I'll put some of the
blue food coloring in here.

That's beautiful.

Ooh, I love to see that.

Whirl around.

Now it's all mixed around.

I'll put some yellow food
coloring in this one.

Pretty.

Now what if I would
take some of this blue

and put it in with the yellow?

Makes it green, huh?

It's so interesting.

There's something else
I want to show you.

Just move you aside here.

Water wheel.

This is a wheel.

And if I pour water
in here, the water

will come down and
make the wheel turn.

I'll show you.

Now all that we've been doing
here, the food coloring mixing

with the water and
the water wheel

moving when I put
the water on it,

you know the wheel going
around, all of those things

are part of science.

When you study
science in school,

you'll probably do all
kinds of fun things.

I was just thinking about all
of the things I liked in school.

Makes me smile.

Do you know where a
real smile comes from?

From inside yourself.

Can you feel yourself smile?

I mean, even if you're
not looking in a mirror

or feeling your face,
you know if you have

a smile on your face, don't you?

[SINGING] It's the
style to wear a smile.

Do you know how to
put one on your face?

In a while you'll
feel your smile.

You'll know it's there
to wear upon your face.

Think of something wonderful,
something to shout about.

Think of something beautiful.

Smiles are from inside out.

It's the style to wear a smile.

Do you know how to
put one on your face?

In a while you'll
feel your smile.

You'll know it's there to wear.

It's there to share.

Your smile's your
style upon your face.

[KNOCKING]

Somebody at the door.

Let's see if that's a
smile-maker at the door.

[SINGING] Smile's your style--

Oh.

It's Mr. McFeely.

Come in, Mr. McFeely.

-Good day, Mr. Rogers.

-Oh, we've been
thinking about smiles.

-Well, I wish I
could show you one.

But I can't seem to find that
film you wanted anywhere.

-Oh, you mean the one about
people making light bulbs.

-That's-- I can't
seem to find it.

-Well, we'll just show
it some other day.

-Well, that's cause for a smile,
a smile of relief at least.

Oh, by the way,
would you like to see

a picture of a little boy?

-Of course.

Always interested in
children's pictures.

Oh, what a fine-looking boy.

What-- who is this?

MR. MCFEELY: That's a picture of
me when I was three years old.

MR. ROGERS: A picture
of you, Mr. McFeely!

-That's right.

-Mr. McFeely as a little boy.

-That's what I
looked like before I

grew up to become a man.

MR. ROGERS: Oh.

That is a wonderful picture.

Oh, I'm so glad to see that.

-You have to be a boy first
before you can be a man.

-Even a speedy delivery man.

-That's right.

Well, I hope to get that
film to you shortly.

In the meantime, I'll
say speedy delivery.

-Thank you, Mr. McFeely.

Thanks for all your care.

MR. MCFEELY: You're welcome.

-I was just thinking,
people get born.

And then they grow.

And that's different from toys.

Yup.

Come on, Trolley.

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

Mr. McFeely as a little boy.

Well, toys like this, you know,
trolleys, they don't start off

small and grow, because
toys aren't live things.

Toys are things
that people make.

Mm-hmm.

A toy is a toy.

It doesn't change and grow.

Of course, we can pretend
anything we want, especially

in the Neighborhood
of Make-Believe.

Mm-hmm.

And we can pretend about
Trolley doing whatever we want

in the Neighborhood
of Make-Believe.

Why don't we do that now?

All right, Trolley?

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

OK.

To the Neighborhood
of Make-Believe.

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

-Yeah.

Hi, Trolley.

Oh, listen.

Were, were you ever, were
you ever little like this?

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

No, huh?

Hmm.

Well, will this
tiny trolley ever

grow up to be big like you are?

[TROLLEY BELL]

I didn't think so.

So what you're saying
is you are you.

Tiny trolley is tiny trolley.

And that's it.

Is that it?

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

Yeah.

I'm glad we got that
straightened out.

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

Now listen.

Would, would you like
to come and play with me

today for a change?

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

Oh, would ya?

Good.

That's great.
OK.

I'll tell ya what we'll do.

We'll take this off like
this, that you off there.

And then we'll put the
little trolley in your place.

That way everybody will
know that you're gone, OK?

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

OK.

Good.

Let's go.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

[TRUMPETS]

KING FRIDAY: Oh, royal
neighbor, I presume.

Yes.

Well, I'm expecting
Mayor Maggie of Westwood.

Have you seen her by any chance?

-Oh, I hope I'm not
late, King Friday.

KING FRIDAY: Yes.

There you are, Mayor Maggie.

Well, you're late only by three.

-Well, you know, I
usually set my watch

by the time Trolley
comes by Westwood.

And it didn't come at all today.

KING FRIDAY: No.

I haven't seen
Trolley here either.

-I'd better check with
my assistant mayor.

KING FRIDAY: Please.
Yes.

MAYOR MAGGIE: This is my phone.

Mr. Aber, has Trolley
come by Westwood yet?

Not here either.

I'm with King Friday.

Yes, please.

And report back.

Thank you.

Mr. Aber will make some calls so
we can go on with our meeting.

KING FRIDAY: The
then photo meeting?

-Exactly.

KING FRIDAY: Did you find
any photos of yourself?

-I did.

Let me show you.

Here's one when I was five.

KING FRIDAY: Oh, when you
were only five years old.

MAYOR MAGGIE: Yes.

[PHONE RINGING]
KING FRIDAY: Oh, lovely.

MAYOR MAGGIE: Oh.

Excuse me again.

Hello?

That was fast.

Not in Northwood.

Not in Southwood.

Not in Someplace Else?

Well, then you'd
better come here.

I think we'll need
an all-out search.

Don't you agree, King Friday?

KING FRIDAY: An all-out
Trolley search indeed.

Yes.

I shall go check
inside the castle.

-But there are no trolley tracks
inside the castle, King Friday.

KING FRIDAY: One
never knows about

these make-believe
machines, Mayor Maggie.

-Correct as usual, King Friday.

I'll go check with some
of the other neighbors

and see if they've
seen the trolley.

KING FRIDAY: Certainly.

You have my royal permission.

Farewell, Mayor.

-Now, where would
a trolley hide?

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Maybe near the tree?

Maybe.

I don't know.

Maybe over there?

The Museum-Go-Round?

Hmm.

I don't think so.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Oh, excuse me, Doctor Bill.

DOCTOR BILL: May I be of
assistance, Mayor Maggie?

-I'm looking for the trolley.

DOCTOR BILL: Oh.

Has it run off its tracks?

-Well, we're just not sure.

But one thing we know,
it's way off schedule.

DOCTOR BILL: Well, I'm
on the way to my office,

so I'll look for
the trolley as I go.

-Oh, thank you very much.

You're such a help.

DOCTOR BILL: Well, I'm a doctor.

And I love being a
help, Mayor Maggie.

LADY ELAINE: Hey there, Toots.

-Oh, Lady Elaine!

LADY ELAINE: What's going on?

-We can't seem to find Trolley.

LADY ELAINE: Well, you've
come to the right place.

-Oh, do you have Trolley inside?

LADY ELAINE: Of course.

My museum has
plenty of trolleys.

I have every kind.

I'll show you.

Just a minute.

MAYOR MAGGIE: Oh,
let me help you.

That's a nice one.
LADY ELAINE: Here you go.

MAYOR MAGGIE: Oh.

It's a little orange one.

Oh.

LADY ELAINE: Here you go, Toots.

MAYOR MAGGIE: I like purple.

LADY ELAINE: Just what
you're looking for, I hope.

MAYOR MAGGIE: Um.

LADY ELAINE: Here you are.

MAYOR MAGGIE: Lady Elaine.

LADY ELAINE: Yes.

-You know the trolley that
I'm looking for, don't you?

LADY ELAINE: Well, I can't
bring all of them out here.

But you know, there's so many.

Why don't you come
inside and see

if you can see for yourself?

-All right.

In the meantime,
why don't you keep

on searching out
here for the trolley?

LADY ELAINE: Come on, Toots.

-Coming.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

ROBERT TROLL: Around and
round we go and we go.

Loopdeloop Trolley.

DANIEL TIGER: Hey
there, Robert Troll.

-Oh, hi, Daniel.

Look who's playing
with me today.

DANIEL TIGER: Oh, Trolley.

I haven't seen you over
here in a long time.

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

DANIEL TIGER: Do you two want
to come inside and play with me?

I've got my truck inside.

-Oh, that would be great.

What do you think, Trolley?
You wanna go inside?

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

-Ah.

DANIEL TIGER: OK.

-Okey dokey.

Here we go.

DANIEL TIGER: A troll brings
the trolley in the clock.

-Mayor Maggie!

Are you here?

Hmm.

I don't see her.

Better call and find
out where she is.

Hi, Mayor Maggie.

It's Associate Mayor Aber.

I'm in the Neighborhood.

And I was just
wondering where you are.

Oh, really?

I didn't know that.

Do you want me to
meet you there?

Oh, OK.

Well, I'll do my best.

Thanks.

Bye for now.

Look and listen carefully.

[SINGING] If you look
carefully, listen carefully,

you will find a lot
of things carefully.

Look and listen.

It's good to look
carefully, listen carefully.

That's the way you learn
a lot of things carefully.

Look and listen.

Some things you
see are confusing.

Some things you
hear are strange.

But if you ask someone
to explain one or two,

you'll begin to notice
a change in you.

If you look carefully,
listen carefully.

That's the way to keep
on growing carefully.

Look, look, look, and listen.

Hi, Tuesday.

PRINCE TUESDAY: Hi, Mr. Aber.

I'm afraid I found it.

-Why are you afraid?

PRINCE TUESDAY: Well,
look how little it got.

-Oh.

That's not the trolley
we're looking for.

PRINCE TUESDAY: Are you sure?

-Yes, I'm sure.

Toys don't get smaller or bigger
except if we pretend they do.

PRINCE TUESDAY: Oh.

I'm glad to know that.

But why is this little
trolley even here?

-Well, I'm not sure about that.

ROBERT TROLL: Hey.

Hi.

PRINCE TUESDAY:
Hi, Robert Troll.

-Hi, Robert Troll.

-I'm having the best time today.

Boy.

-Well, that's good.

I'm always glad to
hear that somebody's

having the best time.

-Oh, well I am.

I came by to pick up
my little trolley here.

PRINCE TUESDAY: This is
your trolley, Robert Troll.

-Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

It's just a toy.

See, I, I just left
it there for awhile.

-Do you by any chance know
where the big trolley is?

-Well, sure.

-You do?

-I do.

Yeah.

We're all playing down
at Daniel's clock.

-Oh.

Well, that's quite a relief.

You know, everybody's been
looking for the big trolley

since it hasn't been
on the tracks today.

-Well, I, I thought you'd
all know it was gone when

I replaced it with the
little trolley, see?

[TRUMPETS]

KING FRIDAY: Assembled
subjects, I presume.

-Correct as usual, King Friday.

PRINCE TUESDAY: Correct
as usual, Daddy.

KING FRIDAY: I have a
castle Trolley report.

We have not found the trolley.

PRINCE TUESDAY:
-But we have, Daddy.

KING FRIDAY: Where is it?

-It's at Daniel's clock.

PRINCE TUESDAY: Yes.

KING FRIDAY: Well, I suggest
that you tell Mayor Maggie,

and bring the trolley to
its tracks immediately.

-Yeah.

Well, yes.

Well, well, King Friday.

I really didn't mean any harm.

-Everybody knows
that, Robert Troll.

We'll wait right here for you.

-Oh, good.

OK.

Thanks a lot.

DANIEL TIGER: And
Trolley can do things

I didn't know it could do.

-You mean magical things?

DANIEL TIGER: Yes.

-Oh, hi.

-Hi, Robert Troll.

-Listen, I'm sorry
about the mixup.

-Well, we just thought
the Trolley was lost.

So we were worried.

-Yeah.

Well, we have orders to get
it back on track immediately.

DANIEL TIGER: Well,
I hope you all

will come back again to play.

-Oh, we will, Daniel.

But we have to let everybody
know where we are first.

DANIEL TIGER: Oh sure.

See you all later.

-OK.
DANIEL TIGER: Bye.

-Bye.

KING FRIDAY: Oh,
here they come now.

Yes.

PRINCE TUESDAY: Oh,
there's the trolley.

KING FRIDAY: Trolley, I presume.
[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

You have returned
to your tracks.

-It seems Trolley has many
talents we didn't know.

KING FRIDAY: At
the moment, Trolley

must stick to its schedule.

[TROLLEY BELL AND WHISTLE]

-It looks like we can pretend
more about the Trolley

than we ever imagined.

Well, we'll think
about that next time.

Right now I need
to feed the fish

and clean up my
scientific experiments.

How about some
food for you, fish?

Let's look and listen
carefully to the fish.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

How would you listen to fish?

How would you listen?

Do they sound like this?

[LIPS SMACKING]

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Wonder if fish wave.

You suppose they
wave to each other?

How will we clean up our
scientific experiment?

Think I'll take the
rest of the blue,

pour it in there, and all of
the green, pour it in there.

Maybe, maybe do the
whole thing in here, huh?

Ooh.

It's going around now.

OK.

Now the real clean-up.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Or I could do it once more.

And have it go.

[LAUGHING] Someday when
you're in school maybe

you'll think about these
scientific experiments

that we did right here.

There.

Leave that there to dry.

Do you clean up your
toys and your things

after you've used them?

One way to be a big help.

I've got the spoon.

I think I'll just leave
this food coloring here.

Oh, here's something
I could show you.

Talking about trolleys.

See this?

These are just old spools
that I put on ends of pencils,

just taped the pencil there,
and make it like a trolley.

Just put a box on top of
it and make it move along.

All kinds of ideas in this life.

Save that paper
for another time.

MR. MCFEELY: Mr. Rogers!

-Oh.

That's-- do you hear
somebody calling?

MR. MCFEELY: Mr. Rogers!

-Sounds like Mr. McFeely to me.

Let's see if he's come back.

It is Mr. McFeely.

MR. MCFEELY: Speedy delivery.

-Look what you have.

Hi.

-I'd like you to
meet Lucky the dog.

-Hello, Lucky.

Hi.

Is this your dog?

-Oh, no.

I found him wandering
around the neighborhood.

He has a collar on.

And it has a tag.

And the name of the family
who owns him is right here.

And I'm on my way back.

Just thought you'd like
to visit for a moment.

MR. ROGERS: Oh, are
you lost, Lucky?

Mr. McFeely's gonna take
you back home, aren't you?

-I certainly am.

-You're a caring
person, Mr. McFeely.

-Well, when I was little,
people took good care of me,

so I grew up wanting
to take care of others.

MR. ROGERS: That's
the best way to be.

Could I hold him?

MR. MCFEELY: You certainly can.

-Could I hold you, Lucky?

Oh.

You're a good boy.

I know.

You've obviously had good care
in your life, haven't you?

-I have a chain here
I'll put on Lucky.

We'll take him back
to the Borlin family.

It's about two streets that way.

So I'll make a speedy delivery.

I just thought you'd
like to meet Lucky.

-I'm always glad to see--

-I'm gonna put him right here.

It's the leash.

---any friends in
the neighborhood.

-Well, Lucky.

-Wonder what he looked
like when he was little?

Were you just this big
when you were a puppy?

-I bet so.

Well, I think he
wants to go back home.

-Thanks for stopping
by, Mr. McFeely.

-Thanks.

Speedy delivery.

-Bye bye.

-Bye bye.

-Bye, Lucky.

MR. MCFEELY: Right
down the road here.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

-If you've had people who
loved you when you were little,

you often grow up wanting
to give good care to others.

[SINGING] I'm taking care of
you, taking good care of you,

for once, I was very little too.

Now I take care of you.

People who take care of you
want to know that you're safe.

And that's why they want to know
when you go somewhere to play.

They just want to be
sure that you're safe.

That's because they love you.

They loved you when
you were a tiny baby.

And they love you now.

It's a good feeling to
know that people love

you and a good feeling to know
that you love other people.

That's what we live
human beings can do.

[SINGING] It's such a good
feeling to know you're alive.

It's such a happy feeling.

You're growing inside.

And when you wake
up ready to say,

I think I'll make a
snappy new day, [SNAPS]

it's such a good feeling,
a very good feeling,

the feeling you know that I'll
be back when the day is new.

And I'll have more
ideas for you.

And you'll have things
you'll want to talk about.

I will too.

I'll be back next time.

Bye bye.
