MAYA: If you like parties like I love parties,

you have got to just love weddings.

Weddings are trouble!

So when my mom's cousin Angelina told us she was getting married,

well, we all got ready for party number one:

the engagement party!

This is so lovely.

Es para ti, Angelina.

Well, you and Pedro. ¿Donde esta Pedro?

ANGELINA: He must be running late. I'm so sorry.

Ah, don't worry. We can wait.

Ha! Speak for yourself!

Paco, we can all wait.

[Muffled squawk]

[All laughing]

So, Angelina, what kind of wedding are you gonna have?

Yes, what kind of wedding? Can I come?

Ha ha ha! Por supuesto.

I hope you'll all be a big part of it.

My dream is to do a big, festive wedding

with everyone I know there.

I picture wearing a beautiful dress

and live music and lots of dancing,

and my favorite wedding cookies-- polvorones.

PACO: ¿Polvorones?

Huh?

I'm going to wear it to the wedding.

I can't. I'm trying to write a toast for the wedding.

ANGELINA: Maya? Can I talk to you?

These gold coins have been in our family for generations.

Ah, trece monedas. What are they for?

They're for the wedding tradition of las arras.

During the ceremony, Pedro will present these coins to me

as a symbol of his everlasting support.

Uh-huh.

The tradition says that someone who is very special to the family

must hold the coins and keep them safe,

and then hand them to the groom during the wedding.

I want you to be that person.
