♪ Chris and martin saw something strange ♪

♪ A little leaping lemur who liked to bounce and play ♪

♪ They followed their new bouncing friend ♪

♪ Not knowing where this adventure would end ♪

♪ The animals were headed just around the bend ♪

♪ Where are they going? I don't know ♪

♪ How do we get there? Come on, let's go ♪

♪ Me and you and zoboomafoo

♪ Come along and see what's new ♪

♪ We're doing the things that animals do ♪

♪ New animal friends to see

♪ Animal junction is the place to be ♪

♪ Elephants are charging, baboons are leapin' ♪

♪ Wild dogs running and nobody's sleepin' ♪

♪ Me and you and zoboomafoo

♪ Come along and see what's new ♪

Martin: hang on! We're almost there!

Chris: I must get this back to the food machine.

Whoa!

Oh, no!

Our puppy food!

Zoboomafoo must have heard that.

We won't have to call him today.

He's already here.

I'll clean up the puppy food.

Over here. Waah!

Martin: what a leapin' lemur!

Are you wondering what chris is doing?

[Sniffing]

It's always snacktime before talktime.

Chris: I'm all cleaned up over here.

Celery!

Zoboo, how about celery?

Hey! Here, have this one.

Want a piece? Here you go.

We're all eating celery.

Celery's good, isn't it, zob?

[Crunching]

I like hanging out and eating celery.

That's mine! What are you doing?

You've had enough.

[Burps] excuse me.

Zoboomafoo!

Woo-hah! Woo! Wah!

That's noisy stuff.

Yeah, zob, it is noisy.

Is it yummy?

It is for puppies, but not for lemurs.

It's puppy food.

It made a loud sound in my ear--

Ears! I couldn't believe it.

I saw ears as long as my arm

On the head of a creature.

Was she a rabbit?

Wow! A rabbit.

A rabbit has long ears,

But her ears stick straight up.

The ears I saw hung down, not up.

Down?

Kind of upside down.

Who is it?

Help! Whoa!

Oof!

That's what you have to tell me.

Who could it be?

♪ Who could it be, this animal who I did see? ♪

♪ Can you help me guess this mystery? ♪

There were wrinkles of skin

And a big, sniffing nose.

♪ Who could it be, this animal who I did see? ♪

He's a happy creature.

♪ Who could it be, this animal who I did see? ♪

♪ Can you help me guess this mystery? ♪

Zoboo: she's a big-eared kind of dog creature.

She's a dog...

With long ears...

Wrinkly, floppy skin...

And her nose to the ground.

She must be a...

Mystery animal's here!

She's licking my ear!

I didn't hear her coming.

That's her! A dog!

Hi, dog. What kind of dog is she?

She's a bloodhound.

Her ears must be some of the longest in the world.

Ears! I almost forgot.

There were also lots of little ears.

Here they come!

Martin: whoa...

Chris and martin: bloodhound puppies!

Look at those ears flopping!

Floppy ears. Ha ha!

Hey, guys!

Hey!

Hey.

[Laughing]

How are you?

[Imitating dog sounds]

Hey, you have big ears for a little puppy.

[Sniffing]

Imagine if your ears touched the ground.

Those are some big ears,

And they're not just for hearing.

Some people think they help bloodhounds smell.

A bloodhound's ears flop forward

And push the smell to his nose.

[Sniffing]

See if they can smell me!

Zoboo: go, slimantha!

Will they find her?

Can they smell me?

[Slimantha humming]

Hee hee! I'm too slippery.

They'll never find me.

Hee hee!

Oh, no! He sniffed me!

He sniffed me down. That tickles!

[Laughing]

His sniffer slimed me.

That was funny.

This loose skin makes picking them up hard,

Like picking up a water balloon.

It jiggles and wiggles.

You're not sure if you've got it or not.

Even though she's a little puppy,

Her ears are a lot bigger than mine.

Zoboo: chris, I'm looking at your ear and the puppy ear,

And you know what?

Ear here...ear here.

Both ears, but not the same.

Our different ears do the same thing.

Ghost bats have ears as big as their face.

Bat ears can hear ultrasonic sounds.

Martin: rhinos can't see well, so their ears are important.

They can turn to point in the direction of sounds.

Chris: notice anything about chimpanzee ears?

Yeah!

They look like human ears

Because chimps and humans are closely related.

Zoboo: lemurs are related, too.

Martin: there's one thing all ears do.

Both: ears hear!

[Soft whine]

Did you hear that?

Yes! I'm all ears!

I didn't hear anything. Did you?

I didn't hear anything, but these puppies did.

They will use their ears and noses to find the sound.

That puppy's checking it out. Let's follow.

Ok, puppy, lead the way.

Zoboo: it's the sound of carrots being munched!

Hey, a bunch of bunnies!

Even though all our ears hear,

A dog's ear can hear sounds people ears can't.

We didn't hear anything, but this puppy heard these bunnies.

Zoboo: do you hear them now?

I do now.

[Munching]

These puppies hear sounds we can't hear at all.

They're looking for something in particular.

How do you know?

I just know.

It's lemur sense.

Yeah. It told me.

One thing's for sure: we have to help those puppies listen.

What time is it?

Time to finish our super ear sensors.

Zoboo: mangatsika! Super ear sensors!

What's a super ear sensor?

With our super ear sensors,

We can hear everything a bloodhound hears.

Huh?

What's that?

Sideways modulator.

Oh.

[Whirring]

Martin: move this antenna.

Zoboo: what are they doing?

You know who hears great? My friend from zobooland.

I was leaping along...

Leap, leap, leap, leap, leap.

...when I bumped into sensit.

He was very excited.

I really want to test my senses--

My smelling, feeling, and seeing.

Go hide. I will try and find you.

One...

Two...ha ha! ...

I knew exactly how to hide.

I hopped to a striped fruit tree and ate striped fruit.

I turned stripy and camouflaged into the tree. Sensit can't see me here.

I can smell you, but I can't see you.

I'm over here.

My ears are so super,

They can even hear a tree talking.

It's not the tree, it's me-- zoboo with stripes!

Zoboo with stripes! I could hear you, but I couldn't see you.

Now I hear something else.

What?

It's my little sisters!

Zoboo: and then sensit's little sisters

Slid down the tree.

Hi, sensit's little sisters!

I was so happy to see them. We played and laughed.

[All talking and laughing]

The end.

Chris and martin: we're done!

Now we can hear sounds we can't normally hear.

We can hear like bloodhounds.

We'll help the puppies find that sound they're looking for.

Keep your ears open.

What do you hear? Oh.

I don't want to talk too loud, because she hears so well.

Zoboo: how are they doing? Oh, yeah...

I hear it, too.

I hear it, too.

Let's follow our ears... And don't trip over yours!

Chris: I think we have a lead on the noisemaker.

Of course-- it's a springhare!

Martin: and how about those ears!

What ears!

A springhare is an incredible animal with incredible ears.

He needs those ears

When he's wandering at night.

He looks for food at night, but so do his predators.

A springhare eats grass,

But hyenas eat springhares!

The springhare always has to be on guard.

When he hears something coming, he's outta there!

He can leap feet when he has to.

The springhare's eyes are huge.

That's because he's nocturnal.

"Nocturnal" means he comes out at night.

He uses his ears and eyes to stay away from predators.

His little hands have

Some of the longest claws in the creature world.

His toenails are long, too.

Martin: look how he cleans himself.

He takes some spit from his mouth and cleans off his nose.

[Laughing]

Zoboo: look at him! He likes to scratch.

Martin: let's scratch like a springhare!

Chris: get scratchin'. You can do it!

Ah, ah...ohhh!

Oh, that feels good. Oh!

Scratching like a springhare.

Wow... Springhare.

[Squeaks]

That's springhare's sound,

But that's not what the puppies want.

What sound arethey looking for?

Zoboo: I don't know, but it's getting noisy in here!

Chris: it will be hard to find the sound now.

Martin: so many animals are making sounds!

Macaw!

[Squawking]

Camel!

[Bellowing]

Snowy owl!

[Chirping]

Capuchin monkey!

[Squeaking]

Baboon![Chattering]

Pig!

[Squealing]

Kookaburra!

[Squawking]

Too many animal sounds!

Our super ear sensors are overheating!

Oh!

Oh...not the puppy food!

[Laughing]

Zoboo: the sound's over here!

That's the sound they were listening for.

Of course!

They were listening for the sound of the puppy food.

I'm glad I spilled it again. They're hungry!

Ha ha!

Ha ha!

It's noisy... But it's yummy to the puppies.

Here's some water to wash it down.

It's right over here!

Want some water?

You want some water?

They're thirsty.

Bloodhound puppies' ears get wet when they drink.

Whoa!

They sure do, zob!

Do soggy ears hear?

Let's find out.

Let's call them for... Playtime!

[Whistling]

Come on, puppies!

Zoboo: go, puppies, go! Waah! Go, go!

You want to play?

♪ This kind of feeling I can't explain ♪

♪ There's only one thing that I can do ♪

♪ I feel bloodhoundish, how about you? ♪

♪ I'm a bloodhound puppy, ears flopping all around ♪

♪ Bloodhoundish!

Ears hear.

She's a loud flapper.

We don't need these to hear a vulture flying.

I see the vulture, but where are the ears?

What do you mean?no ears!

Yes, she has ears.where are they?

There's one, right behind her eye.

The other one is right here.

Her ears are a hole in the side of her head.

Ears hear!

And here's a message from jackie.

Jackie: there's a fox den in my backyard.

I'm a good neighbor.

That means giving creatures their space.

[Giggles]

That's what I do. I just watch.

I love how fox kits' ears look big when they're little.

Foxes use their ears to find food.

Birds have ears, and foxes use their ears to find food.

That's what the aye-aye does, too.

Yeah, but aye-aye likes bugs.

Let's go see how the aye-aye uses his ears to find bugs.

Let's go find him!

Sounds like a trip.

♪ They're going to the closet

♪ They're going on a trip

♪ They're going to the closet

♪ To grab their stuff and split ♪

Whoa! Whoa!

[Laughing]

♪ They're going on a cool adventure ♪

♪ And they don't know what's in store ♪

♪ They're coming from the closet ♪

♪ And they're headed out the door ♪

Come on!

[Tapping]

What was that?

I'd know that tapping sound anywhere.

It sounds like an aye-aye,

But where is he?

Hey, chris, knock it off!

Knock whatoff?

I won't fall for that "an aye-aye's tapping you" trick.

I'm not tapping you.what?

[Gasps]

An aye-aye!

Wow!

What an incredible creature!

Look at his fingers.

They're long and skinny.

Especially the middle one.

How about that face? What a funny-looking lemur!

[Sniffing]you hear that?

An aye-aye sniffs like he always has a cold.

[Sniffing]

[Sniffing]

Check out those ears.

That's what we're here to check out.

How does an aye-aye find food with his ears? Let's listen.

[Tapping]

Do you know what's going on?

An aye-aye taps with his finger.

[Tapping]

He listens to hear a bug crawling around.

It takes great ears to hear a bug inside wood.

If he hears one, he digs with his teeth.

[Martin grunting]

Ouch! Aah!

[Spits]

My teeth aren't made for digging wood.

Try a chisel. Thanks.

An aye-aye's teeth are as strong as this tool.

That's how he digs through hard wood.

When he finds a bug, he eats it.

[Laughing]

Let's watch him do it again.

He taps and listens for the bugs.

He hears one!

He bites through the wood right at the spot.

Then he uses his long middle finger to pick out a nice, juicy bug.

He got it!

Wow! Yum... For an aye-aye.

I love aye-ayes!

Martin: he's heading back to the treetops.

And we're heading back to animal junction.

Both: hello, zoboo!

Zoboo?

Zoboo!

This is weird.

Where'd zoboo go?

Hmm...

There aren't any other animals here, either.

Hey!

Where'd youcome from?

Hi, toothbrush! Remember him?

This is our friend toothbrush.

You snuck up on us!

It seems weird that a big animal can move so quietly.

The secret is in the elephant's foot.

An elephant's foot is soft and padded

So he can walk without making much sound.

We figured out how an elephant can sneak up behind us.

But where is zoboo?

I'm behind the ear!

I've been hiding behind toothbrush's ear the whole time.

That's a great place to hide!

They fell for that old trick!

Look how huge an elephant's ear is.

On those hot african days,

An elephant's body heat can escape through his ears.

His ears cool him off.

Zoboo: they work great 'cause they're so big.

I had a friend who was all ears in zobooland.

I was leaping along...

Leap, leap, leap.

...and looking for mangos to eat.

Couldn't see any...

Couldn't smell any...

[Sniffing]

And I was hungry, so I yelled, "hello, sensit!

I need your help!"

Coming, zoboo!

I knew he'd hear. He's practically all ears!

What can I do for you?

I'm looking for mango fruits.

Do you hear any?

Ha ha! Mango fruits...

Ah! That way.

On our way, we heard gooble making sounds.

Whoa...whoa...

But that wasn't the sound of mango fruits.

Then we heard green puppy making sounds.

[Barking]

That wasn't the sound of mangos.

Then we heard wiggy making sounds.

[Squawking]

Finally, sensit's ears found some mangos.

Mangos! Can't you hear them?

[Laughing]

I didn't hear a sound until we started eating.

Yummy!

Hey...how did you get those mangos out of zobooland?

We didn't.

I got them out of the fridge.

Can I have a bite?sure.

What was your favorite part?

I liked sensit and how he could hear fruit.

I loved the way the aye-aye used his ears to find bugs.
