I'm Hubba Hubba, talking

to you from Hoobland,

and I'm about to send four

of my favorite

Hoobs down to Earth

to find out all about you

for my great Hoobopaedia.

Here they come!

(electronic whooshing)

(mystical music)

(upbeat music)

♪ We're Hoobs ♪

♪ And they're ready to go ♪

- Oh!

♪ Now the wheels are turning ♪

the things we want to know ♪

somewhere far away ♪

♪ The Motorettes are singing ♪

♪ We keep the engines spinning ♪

- (laughing) Oh!

- Wahey!

- Hoobygalooby!

Tula is going to fall over

laugh wen she sees this.

- Hoobledoop, Iver.

- Hoobledoop, Tula. (coughs)

I've got something here,

that's going to make

you fall over laughing.

- You have?

- Yes.

What makes a Hoob laugh,

more than anything

else in Hoobland?

- Oh, no, it's not a

Hoobledangler, is it?

- Yes, it is a Hoobledangler.

(both laughing)

- Swingle, swangle,

Hoobledangle.

- [Tula] No, no, please

Iver, don't, don't.

- Swingle swangle.

- No. (chuckling)

- Hoobledangle

- No. (laughing)

- Swingle swangle.

Hoobledangle.

- Oh no, no please.

Don't do this to me Iver.

You mustn't.

Once I start laughing at the

Hoobledangler I never stop.

(Tula laughing)

- Swingle swangle, Hoobledangle.

Swingle swangle, Hoobledangle.

- (laughing) Hey,

Tula, it sounds like

you're being Hoobledangled at.

- Yes, it's Iver!

Oh, God, stop him! (laughing)

- Hmm, it's what? (laughing)

No, don't do Hoobledangle on me.

Am not gonna look up. (chuckles)

If I start laughing

I'll drop my plank.

- Oh, come one, Groove,

you know you love it.

- No.

- Swingle.

- No.

- Swangle.

- [Groove] No.

- Hoobledangle.

- No, no, no, no!

Stop it, stop it,

stop it! (laughs)

- No, please, Iver, stop.

No, come on.

Mustn't laugh.

I've got to be serious.

I have to concentrate very hard

to find the best

place to put my plank.

The laughing won't help.

Go away.

- No. no.

(Iver screaming)

(Groove yelling)

(Groove laughing)

- Oh dear.

Oh, Tula, I'm sorry,

we must stop now.

We have to think up a

question for Hoob News.

(both panting)

- Tiddlypeeps laugh don't they?

- Oh, Tiddlypeeps

laugh all the time.

Actually it's a well known fact.

Tiddlypeeps laugh about





times everyday.

- Hoobygalooby!

Do you think they would

laugh at a Hoobledangler?

- I don't know.

It might be just a Hoob thing.

Oh, anyway we need

to question now.

- I wonder makes

Tiddlypeeps and Hoobs laugh?

- Hubba Hubba.

(electronic whooshing

- What makes Tiddlypeeps

and Hoobs laugh?

That's a really

interesting question, Tula.

Just the thing for

today's Hoob News.

- Do you think so Hubba Hubba?

- Oh, yes, Tula,

and I can put

everything you find out,

into my great Hoobopaedia.

You never know,

we might all learn

to laugh at the things

that Tiddlypeeps laugh at.

I'll tell Roma too

and see what she comes up with.

- Roma's always up for laugh.

- Right, where do we start?

- Let's start by seeing

what I can find on

Hoobnet about laughing.

(electronic swirling)

- (laughing) Here we are.

(electronic whooshing))

Oh, look, they're having a

good time, they're laughing.

(upbeat music)

Oh, so are they.

They're laughing at a fish.

I wonder why they are laughing?

(laughing) They are

laughing at his hat.

If she's laughing?

There's some more

Tiddlypeeps laughing.

Oh, look and he's laughing

at his hand in the water.

(laughing) she is

laughing at the rain.

Now someone just told

this Tiddlypeep something,

and he is laughing a lot.

(laughing) And so are they!

That's one, two, three

Tidddlypeeps laughing.

(electronic whooshing)

- Lots of things seems to make

Peeps and Tiddlypeeps laugh,

but they didn't make me laugh.

- Nor me.

Sometimes they just laughed,

when someone was talking.

What's all that about?

Hey Groove, are you

going to help us find out

what make Hoobs and

Tiddlypeeps laugh?

- When I find a place

to put my plank.

- We need your help now, Groove.

I know what can make

you drop the plank.

(gentle upbeat music)

Swing swangle, Hoobledangle!

- Oh, give it a

rest Iver, I'm busy.

- We've got Hoob News

to get ready Groove,

you might at least help.

- I will, I ill.

As soon as I've found

somewhere good to go.

- Hubba Hubba.

- How are you getting on, Hoobs?

- We need some

help, Hubba Hubba.

We don't understand why

Tiddlypeeps suddenly laugh

when one of them is talking.

- No, neither do I!

But I found a story from

a Tiddlypeep on Hoobnet,

which might give us a clue.

(electronic whooshing)

(upbeat music)

- [Narrator] One

day, a party cr*cker,

a paper chain and a party

blower, were waiting in a box.

They were excited because

today, Lucy and Josh

were having a party.

- [Paper Chain] I love parties.

- [Narrator] Said

the paper chain.

- [Paper Chain] Because I get

to dangle from the ceiling

and look pretty.

Then the children play

with me and laugh.

- [Party Blower] I love parties.

- [Narrator] Said

the party blower.

- [Party Blower] Because I

get to make my horrid noise,

and that makes the

children laugh too.

- [Party cr*cker]

I love parties.

- [Narrator] Said

the party cr*cker.

- [Party cr*cker]

Because I get to go bang!

Which always makes

the children laugh.

- [Paper Chain] I know,

let's see which of us

can make the children

laugh, the loudest.

- Good idea!

- Good idea!

- [Narrator] They all cried.

At the party, Lucy

picked up the paper chain

and put it on her head.

The children all laughed.

Then Josh picked up

the party blower,

and run run blowing him.

The children laughed and

laughed at his horrid noise.

Then Lucy and Josh

picked up the party

cr*cker and pulled it.

- [Party cr*cker] Bang!

- [Narrator] It went.

And the children squealed.

The party blower turned to

the party cr*cker, and said.

- [Party Blower] Huh!

They don't laugh at you at all.

- [Narrator] But then

the children shouted.

- [Children] Where is the joke?

Where is the joke?

- [Narrator] Lucy

took a piece of paper

out of the party cr*cker and

read out the words on it.

The children laughed

and laughed and laughed.

- [Party cr*cker] I won!

- [Narrator] Shouted the

party cr*cker to his friends.

- [Party cr*cker] I made the

children laugh the loudest,

because I'm the only one

with a joke inside me.

(electronic whooshing)

- I get it.

Tiddlypeeps have these

things called jokes,

and jokes make them laugh.

- Yes.

Oh, and I just love

the crackers, Iver.

- Oh yes, yes.

- I know, let's ask Hubba

Hubba to send us one.

- Oh, yes, yes.

- Hubba Hubba.

(electronic whooshing)

- Hoobledoop, Tula!

How was the story?

- It was Hoobelly

groobelly, Hubba Hubba.

Now we need to see if a

Tiddlypeep joke makes us laugh.

Please could you send

us a party cr*cker?

- Oh, a party cr*cker?

Yeah, I'm sure I can.

I'll order it from Hoobnet,

and it will be with you

in a blink of a Hoobyeye.

(electronic whooshing)

- Well the jokes certainly

makes the Tiddlypeeps laugh.

But the thing is, why?

♪ Why, why, why, why ♪

♪ Why, why ♪

♪ Why, why, why, why ♪

(Iver laughing)

- We'll soon find out.

(electronic swirling)

- Oh.

- Here it is.

(both laughing)

(gentle upbeat music)

- There.

Oh, no.

(Groove muttering)

Groove, are you going to help

us with our question or not?

- Look Iver,

I'm trying to find a place

for my plank, aren't I?

Have you ever tried to find

a place for your plank?

No.

You have to just, you

know, go with the flow.

(gentle playful music)

- I've got it!

I've got it!

(Iver laughs)

Oh, it's here!

Oh, isn't lovely?

I'd love to make one of these.

- We could have it on Hoob News.

- Great idea.

I'll do it.

Ooh, shall we pull it first?

- Oh, yes, yes, yes!

(Tula laughing)

- Ready?

- Oh, oh, oh!

Steady.

(Tula laughs)

- [Both] Pull.

(cr*cker boinging)

- Hey!

- Oh, sorry.

- (scoffs) You nearly

made me drop my plank.

Hm!

- Oh, here's a joke.

You ready for this?

- Yes.

- Right.

"Knock knock, who's there?"

"Bo bo who."

"There's no need cry,

it's only a joke."

(gentle music)

- That's it?

- Yes.

- Oh.

- (sighs) Didn't make

you laugh, did it?

- No.

- Nor me.

(both sighing)

- Hoobybother!

Obviously a joke doesn't make

Tiddlypeeps and Hoobs laugh.

We'll never get Hoob News ready

at this rate.

- Hubba Hubba.

(electronic whooshing)

- Did you laugh at

the joke, Hoobs?

- No, Hubba Hubba.

Things just seem to be

getting more and more serious.

- Oh, well.

I think it would be a good idea,

to go and find some Tiddlypeeps.

They're sure to have something,

that will make Hoobs

laugh as much as they do.

- Absolutely!

Why didn't I think of that?

Bring the Hoobledangler, Tula.

I'll see if that makes the

Tiddlypeeps laugh. (laughing)

(upbeat music)

(Tula laughing)

- [Iver] Got it?

- [Tula] Yes!

- Seatbelt.

(seatbelt clicking)

- [Both] We're off to

see the Tiddlypeeps!

(upbeat music)

- Yes.

- Do one for me, come on.

- [All] Hoobledoop, Hoobledoop!

Whoop, whoop, whoop.

- I am trying to find out

what makes Tiddlypeeps

and Hoobs laugh.

I want to show you something.

It's something that

makes Hoobs laugh.

It's called a

Hoobledangler. (laughing)

Swingle, swangle!

Hoobledangle!

- Oh, you're not laughing.

- No.

- It isn't funny.

- Oh, Hoobybother.

You do laugh at jokes

though, don't you?

- Yes.

- Would you like to hear some?

- Thank you, not really.

We've found out that Hoobs

don't laugh at jokes at all.

I know.

Why don't you show me

something you laugh at

that isn't the word joke.

Can you do that?

- [Children] Yes.

- Sit down, Iver.

- Oh! (coughs)

(whoopee cushion squelching)

Ah!

(children laughing)

What is this?

- A whoopee cushion.

- Hey Hoobs, did you see that?

The Tiddlypeeps really

laughed at this, didn't they?

May I borrow it for a bit?

Just to see if ut makes

Tula and Groove laugh.

- Of course.

Thank you so much.

I must be off now.

Hoobletoodledoo!

- [Children] Hoobletoodledoo!

(upbeat music)

- Did you laugh

when I sat on this?

- No, sorry.

- Oh.

Maybe we'll laugh if

you sit on it, Tula.

(Iver laughing)

Come on then.

Well, go on. (chuckles)

You never know, it

might be hilarious.

(gentle upbeat music)

(Tula sighs)

(whoopee cushion squelching)

- No.

- Oh.

- Definitely not funny.

(gentle upbeat music)

- What was that horrible

noise? (chuckles)

Nearly made me drop my plank.

- Did you laugh?

- Absolutely not.

You're getting on very

fast are you?

(whoopee cushion squelching)

- We're not getting

on very fast, Groove?

You spent all day looking for

somewhere to put your plank.

- Yeah and I'll be with you

as soon as I've done it.

- There must be something

that Tiddlypeeps and

Hoobs find funny!

(whoopee cushion squelching)

But what?

♪ What ♪

♪ What, what, what ♪

♪ What ♪

♪ What, what, what ♪

(Tula blowing)

- (sighs) I don't know what.

I mean maybe we Hoobs

could learn to laugh

at the noise that

whoopee cushion makes.

(whoopee cushion squelching)

- Maybe we could.

And am sure if the

Tiddlypeeps tried hard enough

they would laugh at the

Hoobledangler. (chuckles)

- (Laughing) Oh, Iver,

don't make me laugh again.

♪ Hold the string as

straight as you can ♪

♪ Don't bother

getting a tangle ♪

♪ Before you know it

you giving a friend ♪

♪ A Hoobacious Hoobledangle ♪

(upbeat music)

♪ Swing it to and swing it fro ♪

♪ And give it a

bit of a jiggle ♪

♪ And any Hoob

who's watching you ♪

♪ Will undoubtedly

start to giggle ♪

(both laughing)

- Stop, oh, please.

♪ And the giggle

grows into haha ♪

♪ And the haha haha

becomes a roar ♪

♪ And soon the Hoob will

be laughing so much ♪

♪ They'll be rolling

around on the floor ♪

(both laughing)

♪ But as for the

whoopee cushion ♪

♪ Which makes the

noise like a splat ♪

(Tula blowing raspberry)

♪ The Tiddlypeeps laugh drains ♪

♪ Tell me what's so

funny about that ♪

(Iver blowing raspberry)

♪ What' so funny ♪

♪ About that ♪

(whoopee cushion squelching)

- Well?

- I've really no idea.

- Roma.

- Oh, great, it's Roma.

Maybe she's found the answer.

- Come in, Roma.

(electronic whooshing)

- Hoobledoop, Hoobs.

I'm here in the big top tent,

and am dressed up like one

of the extra ordinary Peeps

that Tiddlypeeps laugh at.

They're called clowns,

and they do all sorts of tricks

which make Tiddlypeeps laugh.

- What sort of tricks, Roma?

- Well, they throw

pies of each other.

They tread in buckets of water.

They fall over again and again.

They even bang into each

other with planks of wood.

And every time they

do any of these things

the Tiddlypeeps laugh so much

that I am surprised their

tiddly little head

starts to fall off.

- But have the clowns

made you laugh, Roma?

- Well, everyone told me

that Hoobs were bound to

laugh clowns, but I must say

I don't find all this falling

over staff at all amusing.

- Do clowns do anything else

that might make you laugh, Roma?

- Well, if the clowns

had a Hoobledangler

I expect I'd laugh! (laughing)

(Hoobs laughing)

In fact, just thinking

about Hoobledangler

is making me start

(laughing) to laugh.

(Hoobs laughing)

Oh, I must control

myself. (laughing)

But I can't. (laughing)

Just imagining a Hoobledangler

is making me laugh.

(laughing) So much!

(laughing) I just might

fall over. (laughing)

This is Roma Hoob, not

laughing at clowns. (laughing)

But thinking of a

Hoobledangler. (laughing)

(Hoobs laughing)

(electronic whooshing)

- Well those clowns

don't make me laugh.

- Me neither.

- Did you laugh, Groove?

- Hmm?

Ah, can't let myself even

think about laughing,

until I find a place

to put my plank.

- (gasps) Of course!

Roma said the clowns hit

each other with planks

and it's very funny.

- I don't think so.

- Well at least Groove

makes us laugh. (chuckles)

- (laughing) That's true, Tula.

(laughing) But

time is getting on,

and we haven't gotten an

answer to our question.

- Hubba Hubba.

(electronic whooshing)

- Hoobledoop, Hoobs!

How are you doing?

- Well nobody laughed to

the clowns, Hubba Hubba.

- They didn't?

Oh, I say, nice plank, Groove.

- (laughing) Thank

you, Hubba Hubba.

I think so too.

It'll be even nicer when I've

worked out where to put it.

- Now, I think it must be time,

for another trip

to the Tiddlypeeps.

Surely they'll be

able to find something

that makes Hoobs laugh

as much as they do.

- Oh, I do hope so, Hubba Hubba.

(gentle music)

- Come on Iver.

- Oh, coming Tula.

(upbeat music)

♪ We're off to see

Hoobs and Tiddlypeeps laugh at,

and am stuck, because all

the things I found so far

that Tiddlypeeps laugh

at, Hoobs don't laugh at.

- I know something

that might work, Iver.

- You do?

- Yes, hold out your Hooby paw.

♪ Round and round the garden ♪

♪ Like the teddy bear ♪

♪ One step, two step ♪

♪ Tickle you over there ♪

(Iver laughing)

(Iver yelling)

- Groove and Tula, look!

I've found something that

makes me laugh! (laughing)

Oh, Tiddlypeeps, you've

been a great help.

I am going to dash back

to the Hoobmobile now.

I am going to try

this (laughing) out!

Hoobletoodledoo! (laughing)

- [Children] Hoobletoodledoo!

- [Iver] Oh!

(all laughing)

(upbeat music)

- (laughing) Oh!

- Did you see that?

Let's try it out, quick!

- Oh, Hoob Hoob Hooray!

Well done, Iver

(Iver laughing)

Tickle, tickle, tickle,

tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle!

(both giggling)

- We've done it!

We've done it!

- Groove, yes.

- Groove, are ready for this?

- Yeah.

- Give me your paw. (giggles)

♪ Round and round the garden ♪

(Tula giggles)

(Groove chuckling)

♪ Like the teddy bear ♪

(Groove chuckling)

♪ One step ♪

- Yeah.

♪ Two step ♪

(Groove chuckling)

Tickle you over there!

- No, no!

No, no, no, no, stop it!

Stop it!

(all laughing)

(plank clattering)

You've made me

drop my plank, now!

(all laughing)

- I'm sorry, Groove.

Time for Hoob News.

Bring your plank

into the Hoobystudio.

- And we'll help

you find a really

Hoobygalooby place for it

once we done Hoob News.

- (chuckles) Now, come on.

We have to put the cr*cker

and the whoopee cushion

in their too, Tula.

And Groove?

- Yeah?

- Don't forget

the Hoobledangler.

- Hoobledangler.

(Iver laughing)

Hoobledangler.

(upbeat music)

Hoobledangler.

(upbeat music)

(Groove laughing)

♪ There were three

singing Motorettes ♪

♪ Named Tootle, Timp and Twang ♪

♪ But every time they started

off one to them made a bang ♪

♪ They tried to keep

straight faces ♪

♪ They really tried to sing ♪

♪ But in the end they couldn't ♪

♪ 'Cause laughing

was their thing ♪

(Motorettes laughing)

- How Hoobygroovy

is that? (laughs)

The perfect place for my plank.

Why on earth didn't

I think of it before?

- These things

take time, Groove.

- (laughing) Auntie Hattie,

would you put that

Hoobledangler down. (laughing)

(coughing) Ah, are you ready

to give me your Hoob News

for my Hoobopaedia, Hoobs?

- All ready.

- Would you like

to sit down Iver?

- But I always stand up to do.

That's a good idea isn't it.

- Yeah, sit sit.

(whoopee cushion squelching)

- Oh!

(Hoobs laughing)

Did you put this whoopee

cushion there, Tula?

- Yes, Iver.

And you know what?

I can suddenly see why the

Tiddlypeeps find it so funny.

(Tula laughing)

- Hoobledoop whoop, to

all you Hoobs out there.

Welcome to Hoob News, the news

show for Hoobs everywhere.

I'm Iver.

- I'm Tula.

- And I'm Groove.

- And today we've been

asking the question.

- What makes Tiddlypeeps

and Hoobs laugh?

- We know that a Hoobledangler

makes the Hoobs laugh.

(Iver laughing)

(Tula laughing)

But we wanted to know what makes

Hoobs and Tiddlypeeps

laugh together.

- [Tula] We worked out that

the Tiddlypeeps often laugh,

when one of then is talking.

- [Iver] And the story told

us that this is because

they laugh at something

called a joke.

- But the joke from

the party cr*cker,

didn't make us laugh at all.

- [Iver] And the

Tiddlypeeps didn't laugh

at our Hoobledangler.

But they showed me something

that always makes them laugh.

It's called a whoopee cushion!

- [Tula] But the whoopee

cushion didn't make us laugh.

Not until a moment ago

that is. (laughing)

- [Iver] Roma discovered

that Tiddlypeeps

always laugh at clowns,

and clowns sometimes hit

each other with planks.

- [Groove] But that idea

didn't make us laugh at all.

Especially me.

- [Tula] Then some

Tiddlypeeps showed Iver

that there is something

else that makes them laugh.

It's.

- [Iver] Tickling!

We tried it out and

discovered that tickling.

- [Tula] Makes Hoobs laugh too.

- [Groove] Especially me.

- So there you have it.

The answer to the question,

what makes Tiddlypeeps

and Hoobs laugh is.

- [All] Tickling!

- Yes, so it's

thanks once again to

Iver, Tula, Groove and Roma

for giving Hoobs everywhere

a little peep into

the world of Peeps.
