♪ Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination ♪

♪ And when he's tall he's what we call a dinosaur sensation ♪

(cheerful music) (child laughs)

♪ Barney's friends are big and small ♪

♪ They come from lots of places ♪

♪ After school they meet to play and sing with happy faces ♪

♪ Barney shows us lots of things ♪

♪ Like how to play pretend

♪ ABC's and 's and how to be a friend ♪

♪ Barney comes to play with us whenever we may need him ♪

♪ Barney can be your friend too ♪

♪ If you just make believe him

(cheerful music) (birds chirping)

- Ah.

(cheerful music)

Hmm.

(cheerful music)

(chairs rattle)

Hmm.

- [Together] Hi, Mario!

- Oh!

Oh hi, Nick.

Hi Jackson.

- What are you doing?

- I'm looking for something.

When you were in the park, did you see a bear?

- You mean a bear like this?

(roars loudly)

- (giggles) Not that kind of bear,

I'm just looking for a teddy bear

for a game I'm playing with Whitney.

- We don't need a teddy bear, Mario, come and look!

- Oh hi, Whitney!

Wow, that looks great!

- Hi guys.

See, our mountain's all done

and we can pretend that Barney is a bear.

- Great!

- [All] Barney!

- Hi everybody!

Oh, it's nice to see you. (giggles)

- Did you have fun on our make-believe mountain?

- (laughs) Oh, I certainly did,

enjoying the good fresh air

and marching up to the tippity-top.

- And what did you see?

- Well, (giggles)

the other side of the mountain was all that I could see.

(everyone laughs)

Oh, but there's a lot to see here,

like the bright smiling faces of my friends.

- And pretty soon, there'll be something new to see.

- Hi, Mr. Boyd! - Hey, Mr. Boyd.

- [Mr. Boyd] Hi, Barney, hi, kids.

- Mr. Boyd, what were you saying about something new to see?

- Our park is getting a brand new fountain.

(everyone expressing joy) - Ooh, a fountain?

- Would you like to see a picture of it?

- [Barney] (laughs) Absolutely.

- [Mario] Okay!

- [Mr. Boyd] Isn't that a beauty?

- [Together] Wow!

(Barney laughing)

- Oh, it's a fantastic fountain,

with sprinkling, splashing water.

When can we see the real thing?

- Well, it should be here anytime now.

I'll keep watching outside.

I'll let you know as soon as it gets here, okay?

- Okay, bye Mr. Boyd. (children bidding farewell)

- Mr. Boyd seems really happy about the fountain.

- That's because he loves the park,

and he works very hard to keep it nice for everyone.

- I wonder if they'll bring the fountain on a truck!

Beep, beep! (Barney giggles)

- Maybe they'll bring the fountain on an airplane.

(mimics airplane engine)

- Or it could come on a train, toot, toot!

- (laughing) All I know is it's lots of fun

when you know something special is coming, oh. (giggles)

(Barney giggles)

(Barney humming)

- Whoa! (laughs) (bell clanging)

(laughing) Oh Jackson, did you go clang clang?

(bell ringing) - It wasn't me!

- [Barney] Oh.

- It's coming from outside!

- [Mr. Boyd] Hey, come on out, everybody,

the fountain's here!

(all chatting excitedly) - Oh boy!

- [Nick] I can't wait to see the fountain, come on!

- (laughing) Oh, I can't wait.

(excited chatter)

- Here it is!

- It doesn't look like a fountain

- No, this is a special kind of box called a crate.

The fountain must be inside.

- There's even a picture of it, see?

- [Barney] Oh. (giggles)

- [Mr. Boyd] Yep, that's it.

(everyone expressing excitement)

- [Together] Open it, open it!

- Oh, I'd like to,

but there are just a few things I need to get ready first.

Tell you what, you keep an eye on the crate

and I'll get back as fast as I can, okay?

- Okay. - Okay, Bye Mr. Boyd.

(children bid farewell)

- I can't wait to see the fountain.

- And to hear the splashing water.

- (giggles) Oh, oh that will be nice

and really, that's what parks like this are all about,

enjoying the shade of the trees,

smelling the beautiful flowers,

listening to the waterfalls,

watching the ducks splash in the pond,

lots of pretty things to see and hear. (giggles)

(birds chirping) (laughs)

Like that little bird.

A park is a place where people can come to play,

(giggles) exercise,

(laughs) or just enjoy being outdoors

with plenty of fresh air and sunshine.

(Barney laughs) (playful music)

- I'm glad there are parks where we can enjoy the sunshine.

- And the birds.

- And trees.

- And the grass and flowers.


- (laughs) I'm glad too.

And there are lots of other things to see in our park

if you look closely.

- Like what?

- Well uh let's see, um,

I spy with my little eye, uh,

something blue, (giggles)

it's kind of square,

and it's under a window.

Do you see what I see?

(playful music)

- I do, I do, it's the mailbox.

- (laughs) Oh right.

Now it's your turn, Mario.

- Okay.

I spy with my little eye,

something brown,

it's cute and fuzzy

and has long ears.

Do you see what I see?

(playful music) (Barney muttering)

- I do, it's a rabbit by the bridge.

(Barney laughs) (children express wonder)

- Oh, (laughs) okay Whitney, it's your turn.

- Hm,

I spy with my little eye

something shiny and silver,

it's made of metal

and it's good when you need a drink.

Do you see what I see?

- Uh well um,

oh oh, I do, it's a drinking fountain!

- Right. - Oh. (laughs)

Okay, I spy with my little eye, um,

oh, (laughs) something up high,

(laughs) wearing glasses,

and a great big smile.

Do you see what I see?

- [Together] It's Mario!

- (laughs) All right.

What were you doing in there, Mario?

- After seeing that rabbit, I wanted to find a book

about other animals who live in the park.

- (laughs) Oh, thank you, hm.

Oh, and this looks like a very good one.

- Would you read it, please?

- (laughs) Okay.

(clears throat)

Visit a park and you will find animals of every kind.

A turtle with a shell on his back.

A duck who's going, "Quack, quack, quack."

(children laugh)

(birds chirping) Birds who live up in a tree.

A squirrel laughing, "Chee chee chee chee." (laughs)

(children laugh)

Frogs who hop.

And fish that swim. (water sloshes)

And a rabbit who thinks parks are perfect for him.

(children cheer) (Barney laughs)

Oh that was a good book, Mario,

but what are all those other books?

- I thought we might all like to read

while we're waiting for Mr. Boyd to get back

so I brought enough books to share.

- (laughs) Oh that's a stupendous idea!

Let's see what you have.

- You can have the spider one, it looks good.

- [Barney] Oh, spiders. (laughs)

- [Mario] You can have butterflies.

- Butterflies!

- (laughs) Those are pretty.

- [Mario] And I get this one.

(Barney humming cheerfully)

Oh, it's such a beautiful day for reading in the park

and what book did you choose, Whitney?

- I chose a book about butterflies.

- [Barney] Oh (laughs) that explains it.

- Explains what?

- Oh, why you're sharing your book with so many friends.

(playful music)

- What friends?

- Oh, (laughs) the three friends sitting right next to you.

- Butterflies, oh they're so pretty.

(Barney laughs)

- (laughs) Why hi butterfly.

(laughs) Only one left.

- Did you guys see all the butterflies?

- Oh (laughs) we sure did.

- I wish I could fly like a butterfly.

- So do I.

(Barney laughs)

But I can't.

- (laughs) Maybe not, but right here in the park,

there's a fun way to feel like you're flying,

if you use your imagination.

(children expressing enthusiasm)

Right over here, the swings on the play-set.

- [Nick] Good idea!

- Swing-a-ling. (laughs)

Now are you all ready to pretend to fly?

- Uh huh and when I'm swinging way up high,

I can watch for Mr. Boyd.

- Me too.

- Oh good idea.

Hold on tight and away you go.

(Barney giggles)

- I wonder what else I can see here in the park.

(Barney giggles)

I spy Barney!

- Oh hi Mario. (laughs)

- I spy with my little eye,

hey look, it's Mr. Boyd, he's back.

(Barney laughing) (children cheering)

- Oh boy oh boy. (laughs)

- Hi everybody.

See, I told you I wouldn't be gone very long.

- Where'd you go?

- I went to get some flowers, see?

- Pretty. - They're so pretty.

What are you going to do with them?

- I was thinking of arranging them

in a circle, right over there

and then I'll put the new fountain right in the middle.

(everyone agreeing)

- Can we help unload the flowers?

- [Nick] Yes please, can we?

- Well thank you.

- There sure are a lot of flowers.

- Uh huh. (laughs)

Oh and so many beautiful colors. (laughs)

♪ Rainbow colors, every color in between ♪

Oh, great looking flowers. (laughs)

- That didn't take too long.

How does it look?

- It looks good from here.

- Oh, (laughs) well let's see here, uh,

oh and it looks very good from over here.

- And it looks very, very good from up here.

- [Barney] Oh. (laughs)

- Glad to hear it.

Well, I'll run these down to the recycling bin

and then we can open the fountain.

(children cheer) - Oh boy. (laughs)

- Mr. Boyd sure is excited.

- Oh, he's looking forward to seeing the fountain

as much as we are.

- I think everyone in the park will want to see it.

- Oh, (giggles) so do I.

- When people come to see concerts in the park,

they can all see our new fountain.

- Yeah, they might even come to see it today,

if we had a band here in the gazebo.

Only, we don't have a band.

- Well, I know where we could find a band

if we used our imaginations.

- [Together] Where?

- Right here. (cheerful music)

(children expressing excitement)

(laughs) Oh boy.

Oh you look band-tastic. (laughs)

- Morning, kids, are you ready?

(children expressing excitement)

- [Barney] We sure are. (laughs)

Gonna be great. - Are you gonna open it?

- Yep.

Now let's get this down here.

- How exciting. (laughs)

- Well here goes.

(box rattles) - Okay.

(everyone expressing enthusiasm)

What is all this?

- Yeah, what is this?

- These are just packing peanuts,

but I'm not sure where the fountain is.

- [Barney] Hm. (laughs)

(peanuts swishing) (playful music)

Oh well, hm. - Here it is.

- Hm. - See?

It's just like the picture.

- Well it sure is.

I guess I thought it would be a lot bigger.

- Yeah. - Yeah, me too.

- Well, I think it's just the right size.

- [Together] You do?

- (laughs) I certainly do.

Mr. Boyd works very hard to make this whole park nice,


so everyone else can enjoy it.

And that's why I think this fountain should go,

(laughs) excuse me,

where he can enjoy it, right?

- [Together] Right.

- And it's just the right size.

- Thank you, everyone.

Well, let me take a look at it.

- Okay. (laughs)

- Hey look, it works!

- Oh wow. - Yeah, it works.

- [Jackson] It does.

- Barney, I don't think

we really needed a big fountain anyway.

Our park is great just the way it is.

- Now (laughs) it sure is.

And so are all of you. (laughs)

- I guess I'd better start

cleaning up all those packing peanuts

and I think I'll move those flowers to the main gate

where everyone can enjoy them.

- Yeah, great idea, Mr. Boyd.

- And we could help you.

- Well that's great.

Then uh, let's get started.

(Barney laughs)

- I think people like the flowers, don't you, Barney?

Barney?

Oh there you are.

While we're moving the flowers,

you can enjoy the new fountain.

(cheerful music)

It's just the right size for you too.
