- [Phil] Previously on "The Amazing Race."

- [Both] St. Petersburg.

- [Phil] Eight teams set off from Argentina

and raced more than , miles to St. Petersburg, Russia.

A bus station became a battleground.

- Have you ever done anybody in your life a favor?

- Letting you in front of us.

- [Phil] In Russia, Colin and Christie

made quick work of a Cossack tradition.

[crowd cheering] - Yes!

- [Phil] While Brandon refused to drink vodka.

- [Brandon] My faith is the most important thing to me.

- [Phil] But nothing could prepare

the two front-running teams for the Roadblock.

- Oh my God.

- Faced with eating more than two pounds of caviar,

Christie and Nicole stalled as others faltered.

Chip triumphed, tasting victory

for the first time in the race.

- You are team number one.

[Kim cheering] [Chip laughing]

With the final three teams gaining on them,

Brandon cheered Nicole on.

- I love you.

- [Phil] And in the end, internet dating couple

Bob and Joyce were eliminated.

- We gave it a good run.

- [Phil] Now only seven teams remain.

Who will be eliminated next?

[dramatic music]

[singer vocalizing]

[singer vocalizing]

[dramatic music continues]

[dramatic music continues]

[dramatic music]

This is Catherine's Palace, a luxurious country estate

miles outside St. Petersburg, Russia.

Built by Peter the Great for his wife, Catherine,

this -year-old palace

was the fourth pit stop in a race around the world.

These seven teams arrived here at the end of the last leg

for a mandatory rest period that allows them to eat,

sleep, and mingle with the other teams.

Will Chip and Kim, in the lead for the first time,

be able to stay ahead of the pack?

Chip and Kim, who were the first to arrive at : PM,

will depart at : AM.

- Here we go. - Here we have it.

- "Make your way to the, oh,

"Hermitage in St. Petersburg."

[dramatic music]

- [Phil] Teams must now travel miles by train

to the city of St. Petersburg and find the Hermitage,

one of the world's largest museums.

Once inside, a curator will follow them

as they search nearly million works on exhibit

to find Rembrandt's, "The Return of the Prodigal Son."

When they find this painting,

the curator will give them the next clue.

- You have $ for this leg of the race.

- Yeah. - ? Okay.

- Yes.

We feel awesome because we're finally number one.

We want to keep it that way, we love it.

Train station?

- Choo choo, choo choo. - Choo choo, choo choo.

- "Rembrandt's painting."

- Chris and I have been working as a very cohesive team.

And we've barked each other,

but I think we've worked together perfectly.

We need to get a taxi.

- "Make your way to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg."

- Okay. - Let's go.

My knees are k*lling me.

I woke up a couple of days ago

and they were aching a little bit.

I woke up this morning and I could barely walk.

- "Hermitage in St. Petersburg."

- Here we go.

Bye-bye.

- Charla and I are committed to this race.

If it means pushing each other to the limit, we will do it.

Where is taxi?

[man speaking Russian]

- Okay, train. Choo choo.

Train? Choo choo.

- One question at a time for the people, Mirna.

- [Mirna] He had some good gold teeth though.

[dramatic music]

- Oh yeah.

- [Driver] Choo choo?

- Yeah, choo choo. - Choo choo, okay.

Thank you.

- [Kim] You see tickets?

- [Chip] Oh, okay, over here.

St. Petersburg?

[train horn honking]

- [Kim] The first one's out.

Yeah. - We're number one.

[dramatic music]

- Okay, "Make your way to the Hermitage."

And be careful.

Niki helps me believe in myself.

She's such a good girlfriend.

The train station might be within walking distance.

- [Nicole] No, I want to get a cab.

- Okay. Taxi.

Choo choo.

All right, he knows.

Yeah, this would've been a long walk.

- Um, yeah.

[Brandon laughing]

[slow music]

- [Mirna] Charla, we can't walk like this forever.

You know that right?

- [Charla] Choo choo, that way?

- [Mirna] Choo choo?

- Thank you very much.

- Okay, we got it. - Okay, come on, come on.

- We have to run.

- [Colin] Train's coming right now.

[train horn honking]

- Is this it? - Yeah, this is it.

[dramatic music]

- Man, it's unbelievable.

St. Petersburg.

Jeez, it looks like the pictures that we've seen.

It's freezing out there.

- "Museum guide will give you the next clue."

All right, let's go.

Taxi.

Thank you so much.

- Make your way to the Hermitage.

The bowling moms are ahead of us and we wanna beat them.

Okay, okay, let's go.

- [Linda] Karen and I are in sixth place out of seven.

We're in a horse race again with the twins.

[slow music]

- Choo choo, where?

- We can't find a taxi.

We can't find the train.

Charla, come on.

Our hair formed icicles as we were walking.

- [Charla] Oh, there it is, the train station.

- [Mirna] We walked the whole way to the train station.

Choo choo.

Hermitage.

[dramatic music]

- This is something else.

What's your name?

- Sergei. - Sergei.

Chip and Kim.

Wow, look at this.

The Hermitage, you can can just feel

its historical greatness.

This is awesome.

[dramatic music]

- [Lance] This sucks.

The Russians might be

the most miserable people on this planet.

They're angry looking.

The freezing cold temperature in St. Petersburg

probably doesn't help them any.

That made us a little miserable as well.

[upbeat music]

- Here we are at the Hermitage.

- Oh man.

Hi, do you know where the Rembrandt "Prodigal Son,"

"Return of Prodigal Son," "Return of the Prodigal Son,"

"Return of the Prodigal Son."

[Kim laughing]

[dramatic music]

- We're trying to find Rembrandt's "Prodigal Son."

- Hermitage, second floor.

- Thank you very much.

- You're welcome.

- Oh, right here, okay.

Looks like probably- - So at the very end.

- [Colin] All the way at the end.

- Is this it? - Is that it?

- This it? That it?

[dramatic music]

- [Lance] Keep coming, come on.

- Can we see it?

- [Lance] Yep, straight ahead.

[upbeat music]

- You're sweet.

- You're sweeter.

- [Brandon] It's very possible I could see myself

getting married to Niki.

[both laughing]

I mean, she's everything a guy could want.

- Show us which way.

- That way?

"Prodigal Son," Rembrandt?

[slow music]

- Rembrandt. - Yeah.

- Do you know where?

Oh, okay, thank you.

Kim and I are staunch Christians.

Because we knew the parable of the prodigal son

we were able to visualize a father

welcoming his wayward son.

- Hey, isn't the prodigal son Jesus?

I think that's Jesus.

- Okay, there's a million paintings of Jesus in here.

- So we want to look at the return of Jesus.

- All these are Rembrandts?

- Yeah.

Yeah, his paintings are beautiful.

Right here, right here, "Return of the Prodigal Son."

- You find it?

- Right here, right here, right here.

- Thank you.

Thank you so much.

Okay.

- Great, okay.

What does it say next?

- "Make your way to the top of the Tower of Cairo in Egypt."

- Oh my gosh.

[dramatic music]

- [Phil] Teams must now fly

more than , miles to Cairo, Egypt.

When they land, they'll have to find the Tower of Cairo,

a -foot observation tower overlooking the city.

- Cairo, Egypt. - Yes.

- That's pretty cool. - In the heat.

To the airport.

- Okay, airport.

- Here you go.

Thank you so much.

- Come on, Linda. - I'm coming.

It's between the twins and us again for last place.

Go to the ticket counter, run.

We missed the train.

The twins are gonna catch us. Dang it.

- There's the moms.

Okay, this is good, this is good.

- Hi, guys. - Hi.

- So it's gonna be another foot race with the twins.

Mom versus twins.

[dramatic music]

- Okay, okay, here's a Rembrandt.

No? - No.

- Okay, but that's a Rembrandt.

Rembrandt.

Okay, we're close.

This one?

We got it right here.

Okay, thank you very much.

Okay, we're going to Egypt.

We need to go to a travel agent.

[upbeat music]

- So we can just guess. - Right.

- Just might as well point

at every single picture you see.

- Rembrandt. No?

No? - No.

- Just keep pointing.

We're right near Rembrandts.

No.

Maybe on the back of this wall?

Rembrandt?

- Yeah. - Yeah.

Thank you.

International airport.

[upbeat music]

- [Mirna] She told us the painting's on the second floor.

- [Charla] Ooh, look at how pretty it is.

- [Mirna] Oh, bellissimo.

[dramatic music]

- I think we're going through here.

- Think we're going through here?

- Yeah.

- No.

- [Mirna] This one.

Yeah. - Father and the son.

- [Mirna] Thank you so much.

- [Charla] Oh, that's neat.

There we go.

- [Mirna] Let's get the heck out of here.

- [Brandon] Do you know where Rembrandt is?

Oh.

[upbeat music]

- Cairo, Egypt.

- The wonderful pyramids I've always wanted to see.

- I can't wait.

- Okay, this isn't it.

- Oh, this is it.

The "Return of the Prodigal."

Woo-hoo-hoo.

- Shh, Brandon.

- Oh, sorry.

- Gosh.

- [Driver] Airport international.

- Thank you.

We need to get the fastest flight to Cairo, Egypt.

- [Clerk] Lufthansa office.

Go out and go to the yellow building.

- There's a travel agency.

- Whoo. - Oh yeah, baby.

We're gonna get ourselves some good-ass tickets.

We need to purchase plane tickets to Cairo.

[dramatic music]

- We need tickets to Cairo, Egypt

as quickly as possible, okay?

- So the earliest time, it would be tomorrow at :.

- So this is the earliest one for sure?

- Yes.

- Okay, so yeah, let's go ahead and book that.

- : PM. Great.

To the airport.

- What up?

What's the deal?

- There's a Lufthansa.

We don't get in until : tomorrow.

- [Lance] You have to go outside?

- Yeah, and then go to the yellow building.

- [Lance] Okay.

- Look at how he's walking.

Wow, he won't be able to do too much of anything.

[dramatic music]

- [Clerk] To Frankfurt in the evening and to Cairo-

- And it arrives tomorrow? - Okay.

- There's no other flights?

- Yes.

- [Lance] We're going to Egypt,

a Lufthansa flight arriving at :.

- Spasiba. - Thanks.

[slow music]

- Hello.

Charla, do a dance for us.

Entertain us while we wait.

- [Lance] Marshall and I dislike Mirna and Shmirna.

They're just not the type I would hang out with.

Not the type of personality.

- Thank you.

- Bye, see you guys. - Bye.

- [Mirna] Hello. Bellissimo. [laughs]

- [Charla] Okay, it's gonna be easy.

Same tickets.

- Want to go in here?

We get to the airport and everyone's

just kind sitting around like, you know,

"You can research if you want,

"but you're not gonna find better flights."

So we get our tickets and we just chill with them.

- [Marshall] I wonder if Colin and Christie

went to a travel agency?

- [Lance] Never know.

Is there any way anybody gonna get on the flight today?

- No, we're closed.

- [Lance] We figured that if we went to Air France,

maybe we could get earlier tickets.

But the Air France ticketing office closed.

- [Colin] I'll be real happy once we get on the plane.

- Colin. - Hey.

- What are you doing?

What airline?

- [Colin] Air France.

- They closed their office.

They're not- - Who did?

- [Marshall] Air France.

- [Lance] We're on Lufthansa arriving at :.

- We arrive .

- You guys, from what we have seen, are on the best flight.

[dramatic music]

Where are you guys sitting on these planes?

The teams that are on our flight are Chip and Kim,

and Brandon and Niki, and Mirna and Charla.

- [Marshall] The bowling moms and the twins

may not get on the flight at all.

[group laughing]

[dramatic music]

- [Twin] We got to get the clue first.

- [Contestant] Let's go, come on.

- [Twin] We need to be away from the moms. Go.

- Karen? - I'm right here.

- [Linda] Okay.

- [Twin] Thank you.

- How do we get to the Rembrandt rooms?

- Rembrandt.

- [Karli] Rembrandt, okay.

Come on, Kami.

- [Karen] Twins are probably inside.

What do you think?

- [Linda] Hopefully we can find it before they do.

- [Local] Second floor.

- [Linda] Let's go up.

- [Twin] Come on.

- [Linda] Just have to find it.

[dramatic music]

- Is this the one? - Yes.

- Yep, yes it is.

[all cheering]

Thank you. Okay.

- Next. - Route info.

Is there a travel agency we can go to first?

- Oh yes.

- [Linda] There's a staircase, come on.

- Okay.

As we run into the Hermitage, out comes the twins.

They'd already found the painting.

- [Linda] Now we know we're in trouble.

- Our new friend in Russia is taking us to a travel agency.

- [Clerk] Cairo tomorrow, : PM.

- Okay, thank you.

Our flight leaves in an hour.

We got to hurry.

[upbeat music]

- [Linda] I just didn't think it was gonna be this difficult

to find this painting.

- [Karen] I didn't either.

- Oh.

If we lose, it's our own stupidity.

I found it.

[upbeat music]

- You think that's it?

- That's it, "The Prodigal Son."

- You think that's it?

Thank you. - Thank you.

- Good job.

- How do we get out of here?

To the airport.

You know where airport?

You know where we're going, yes?

Let's hope he understands.

[dramatic music]

Thank you.

Tickets to Cairo please.

- Egypt? - Yes.

- Oh, not here.

- [Linda] Where do you buy them?

- I don't know.

Maybe you go to international airport.

- This is not international airport?

- [Karen] Dang it, Linda.

- Screw that one.

Damn it, Karen.

[dramatic music]

- [Twin] We have departure at :.

We got to hurry.

- [Marshall] Right now we're about to get

on the : flight.

If the bowling moms and the twins

are not checking in right now,

that could put them hours behind us.

[dramatic music]

- Ah, here they are, guys.

[upbeat music]

- Karli and I almost missed the flight,

but we made it at the last minute.

- So what are we gonna do? [laughs]

[slow music]

Thank you.

Tickets to Cairo, Egypt.

- Unfortunately we don't have flights tonight.

- None?

[dramatic music]

Karen, we're never getting out of here.

- You should go now to the central yellow building

to the office of Lufthansa.

- Thank you. - Lufthansa, thank you.

Oh my God.

This is a disaster.

- You don't have any flights to Cairo tonight?

- Not tonight, but tomorrow through Frankfurt.

- [Linda] Tomorrow?

- Like your friends, tomorrow to Cairo.

- [Linda] Can I catch them in Frankfurt tomorrow?

- Okay, sure, I will do it.

- Oh, thank you. - Please.

: in the afternoon, we arrive in Cairo.

- Perfect.

Who cares, we're all together.

We caught up.

[both laughing]

[dramatic music]

- [Phil] Colin and Christie are on the first flight

to Cairo via Paris.

The next five teams, Chip and Kim,

Marshall and Lance, Charla and Mirna,

Brandon and Nicole, and Kami and Karli

are on the second flight to Cairo via Frankfurt,

arriving minutes after the first flight.

Linda and Karen are awaiting

their morning flight to Frankfurt,

where they expect to join these five teams

for the flight to Cairo.

[plane engines roaring]

- We have to go through here, yeah.

- Over here?

We get into Paris at about : PM.

We wanted to go ahead

and see if maybe there was a faster flight.

- [Christie] We want to leave today for Egypt.

- You have one hour.

- Let's do it, let's do it, let's do it.

We'll arrive at : AM

versus we were gonna arrive at : PM.

So we're gonna be arriving hours earlier than we thought.

- Thank you. - Thank you very much.

That's looking really good.

- [Colin] We're gonna be so unbelievably ahead

of all the other teams.

[slow music]

- [Chip] Why don't you just give that hat to Brandon?

[group chattering]

- [Mirna] We need to go to Egypt quickly.

[group chattering]

- [Kim] Brandon, you're cute.

- We found a flight that comes in earlier

than the one we're on on Lufthansa, on Alitalia.

- The new flight got in at : PM rather than :.

And I thought, " minute lead, that's fabulous."

Don't tell, don't tell the other people.

[upbeat music]

We can't do anything right now.

We have to wait until everyone sleeps.

[slow suspenseful music]

[slow suspenseful music continues]

[slow music]

[plane engines roaring]

- "Make your way to the top of the tower."

- [Colin] Look, that's the freaking Tower of Cairo.

That's pretty cool.

- [Christie] Hours of operation, : AM to : PM.

- We'll be seven hours ahead of everyone else.

I guess we wait over here, right?

[dramatic music]

- It's early morning.

We're on our way to catch up to the other teams.

Thank you.

[plane engines roaring]

- What happened to Mirna and Charla?

- [Kim] They'll be here, probably right at :.

- You think so?

- We don't like Mirna and Charla,

but the one thing we do know about them

is they're not stupid.

We knew that there was a good chance

that they went somewhere and found an earlier flight

and they were ahead of us.

- Ooh, it's green.

My lucky colors.

[plane engines roaring]

- [Linda] I think this is it, Karen.

- Look, there's Brandon. - I see.

Hey, Brandon, how you doing?

- Everybody is on the plane to Cairo

except those sneaky cousins, Mirna and Charla.

[plane engines roaring]

- [Nicole] In my eyes, everyone on our plane

is tied for last place.

[upbeat music]

- Waking up, looking up at the Tower of Cairo.

That's beautiful.

- [Christie] No other teams are here.

- Okay.

- It's a Fast Forward. - How about it?

- This is the first of only two Fast Forwards

hidden on the entire race.

[upbeat music]

The first team that finds it can skip all tasks

and go directly to the pit stop.

Each team can use only one Fast Forward on the race,

so they need to decide

when it's most advantageous to go for it.

[dramatic music]

In this Fast Forward, teams must make their way

to the Pharaonic Village.

Once there, they must find a sarcophagus

and transport it by ferry to this temple

and deliver it to the priest inside

to win the Fast Forward award.

- You want to do it?

- Do you want to do it?

- We might as well, we're in first place.

- Taxi.

[dramatic music]

- We must get a sarcophagus from outside the village.

- Where is sarcophagus?

We need to take a sarcophagus.

- We have to take a-

- On the island. - On the island.

- The island, yes.

- [Colin] I think we're gonna have to get on a boat.

- [Christie] I don't want to have to be coming back

and redoing anything.

- [Colin] I guarantee it's over there, so let's just-

- Okay, let's do that then.

- [Colin] Trust me, okay?

- We haven't found a sarcophagus over here.

It says the sarcophagus is at the front of the village,

and I feel like it's on the other side.

- [Colin] All right, let's do it.

Let's go across.

[dramatic music]

- This is it, right there. [Colin laughing]

[grunts] All right.

- Don't drop the dead body.

[dramatic music]

- [Christie] Pharaonic Temple.

This is it, we found it.

You know, you never trust me.

And I said the sarcophagus was on the other side.

- [Colin] Hey, you know what, Christie.

We stopped over there because you wanted to stop over there.

We were coming to the ferry.

Then you changed your mind

and you decided you want to stop over there.

- [Christie] I know, but-

- [Colin] So don't say I don't ever trust you.

- [Christie] I'm realizing that because

we don't really trust each other,

we actually end up making mistakes.

- Thank you.

- "Go directly to the next pit stop, the Sphinx."

- [Phil] Having won the Fast Forward, Colin and Christie

may now skip all tasks and go directly

to the pit stop, the Sphinx.

[slow music]

- [Christie] That's huge.

- We're in Egypt at the pyramids.

We are at one of the most incredible places

on the planet Earth.

This is absolutely breathtakingly astonishing.

[slow dramatic music]

- Welcome to Cairo, Egypt.

- Thank you. - Oh, thank you.

- Colin and Christie, you are team number one.

- Thank you.

- How you guys feeling?

- Absolutely amazing. - It's amazing.

We're in a huge lead and crossing our fingers

we'll be able to hang onto it.

[dramatic music]

- The Tower of Cairo.

Here we are in beautiful Cairo.

"Make your way to the- - Giza Plateau."

- [Phil] Teams must now travel miles to the Giza Plateau.

Bordering the Sahara Desert,

Giza is the home to three great pyramids.

Once teams arrive, they will need to follow

these yellow rocks to their next clue.

- Okay. - Let's go.

[dramatic music]

- Here we go, here we go, Karen, right here.

- [Karen] Okay.

- We are going to the Tower of Cairo.

- Cairo Tower. - Yes.

- Can we go very, very fast?

- [Kim] Tower of Cairo.

- [Karen] Twins are behind us.

- We need to go to the Cairo Tower.

We're the last team to leave. - Back in the back again.

- Is this the Nile? - Yeah.

- This is the Nile? - Yes.

- [Chip] Whoo!

- [Kim] We got to see the Nile River.

- That's where Moses said, "Let my people go."

And just right here where history was made,

from the Bible, right here.

- [Brandon] We caught up with somebody.

- It's the brothers.

This is so fun.

- Nice, nice, nice, nice.

[Nicole laughing]

We just made a move, we just made a move.

- Somebody just passed us.

- Yeah, it was Niki and Brandon.

- That is awesome.

[slow dramatic music]

- Look at the pyramids.

My God, they're huge.

"Your marked path is marked with yellow rocks."

Let's get out, come on.

Charla, where's the yellow rocks?

- I don't know.

Why did we go down here?

[dramatic music]

- Okay. - Okay.

- [Nicole] Okay.

We are first.

- [Brandon] Our cab driver's the best.

- Yeah, he was awesome.

- Right here.

- [Chip] There's a bunch of people out here.

- Hold that.

"Make your way to the Giza Plateau."

- Let's go.

- All right, let's get out-

- So we have to go down.

- "Make your way to Giza Plaza."

- "Giza Plateau."

- "Follow the marked path through Egypt's ancient wonders

"until you arrive at the Osiris Shaft."

[dramatic music]

- [Mirna] Come on, Charla.

We're looking for yellow rocks.

Keep your eyes open.

Oh, here it is, come on.

Where's the next one?

- Wait, Linda. [Linda laughing]

- Thank you. - Kami, come on, we gotta go.

- [Linda] We beat the twins.

- Giza Plateau.

- Come on, let's go. - Okay.

- Beautiful.

- Giza Plateau.

- Giza Plateau.

- Yes, yes. - Good, let's go.

- We have to haul butt.

We're in last place right now.

- Oh, there's- - There's the twins.

- Kami, the moms are right in front of us.

- [Kami] Yeah, I see them.

- This is our only chance to stay in the game,

is to get in front of them.

- We gotta beat them. - Beat them.

- They're passing us.

Don't let them pass us.

[horns honking]

- Our driver kicks ass.

- You rock, you rock. - Woo hoo!

[dramatic music]

- Come on, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.

- [Nicole] Okay, here.

- Okay.

[whistles] Here, yellow rock.

- There's a yellow rock. - Okay.

- [Lance] Marshall's legs are k*lling him.

We're just hoping that, you know, right now

we have enough of a lead that we can continue to keep it.

[dramatic music]

- Charla, can you hurry?

- I can't run in the sand.

- Well, do a little bit better, please.

It's gonna get dark in an hour.

- Ow. I was about to fall.

- Roadblock.

"Who's up for going down?"

- A Roadblock is a task that only one person may perform.

In this Roadblock, that person

has to climb down a series of ladders

to the base of the Osiris Shaft feet below.

Then they must search this watery tomb

for one of these satchels, bring it back to the surface,

and present it to this Egyptologist,

who will give them their next clue.

- I'm claustrophobic.

- Tell me, can you do it?

Can you go down in a hole deep down?

- I'm scared. No, I can't.

- Okay, then I'll do it.

- "Descend feet to the bottom of this ancient shaft.

"Find a satchel, like a bag, of artifacts

"and bring it back to the surface."

- Okay.

I'll get the bag and I'll come back up.

- Charla, take your time, because we're ahead of people.

Take your time, honey.

Charla, I'm here, okay?

[dramatic music]

- This way? - Yeah, yeah, quick.

We have to find the yellow rocks.

- Is that the twins?

- Let's just follow 'em.

- [Kami] Do you know where we're going?

- [Karli] Kami, no, but we're just gonna keep running

until we find something.

- I see no yellow rocks.

- I don't see yellow rocks.

- Let's go.

I want to catch up with the twins.

- Ow. - Oh, Linda.

Are you okay?

- Oh, no, I'm not okay.

- [Karen] What did you do?

- I twisted my ankle in that hole.

[dramatic music]

Oh, no, I'm not okay.

Oh God.

- [Karen] Did you not see it?

- Obviously not.

- Okay.

You gonna be okay?

- I don't know.

That hurt.

- Charla, can you hear me?

I was stubborn and I made Charla do it.

Now I feel bad.

- Okay, perfecto.

No problemo.

As long as you don't look down, you'll be fine.

It's a beautiful day in Egypt.

It is hot in here.

- This place is a little bit scary.

[slow dramatic music]

- It's hot.

I have to pull this satchel

out of this water, pit of water.

It was dirty and gross.

- Should have given her the whistle to signal for help.

- Coming back up the ladder with this wet and heavy satchel

was more complicated than I thought.

Let me take a break.

[suspenseful music]

- Awesome.

Oh my gosh, Charla, you're the hero here.

- Use this for your next clue.

- [Phil] Teams must now use a map of Giza

and the puzzle pieces in their satchels

to plot their course.

If they assemble the puzzle on top of the map,

they will see that there is a hole in the puzzle

which marks where they'll find their next clue.

- Oh my gosh. - Dump it out.

Yeah, that's correct.

Yeah, that goes in the face.

- Honestly, I don't have a clue.

[dramatic music]

- This is so cool. - That's a pyramid.

- I can't run.

- [Mirna] Do you think that hole has anything to do with it?

- Yeah, if you put that whole thing right here,

that's where we're supposed to go, in that hole.

In the corner of the pyramid.

- [Mirna] Let's go, before it gets dark.

- [Kami] Where is this place?

- [Karli] Calm down and try to just think

instead of freak out.

- [Karen] How do we even know we're in the right place?

- [Linda] I don't know, Karen.

I don't know what to do.

I'm lost.

[upbeat music]

- Roadblock. - Roadblock.

"Who's up for going down?"

Me.

- "Who's up for going down?"

- You'll go down in the pyramids.

You go.

- You want me to? - Yeah.

- I was a little afraid to do the Roadblock

because of the crevices.

I'm scared of, like, crawling through holes

that you can't get back out of.

- [Nicole] Bye.

- [Chip] Okay, Big B.

Show me how it's done, doctor.

- [Kim] Be careful, babe.

[dramatic music]

- [Mirna] I don't see anything, Charla.

- Can you get up here and look up here?

- [Mirna] You want me to climb this thing?

- Just jump up and see if there's like something.

- Charla. - What?

- I see it.

- [Charla] Oh, it's right there.

[dramatic music]

- "Detour.

"Rock and Roll or Hump and Ride."

- A Detour is a choice between two tasks,

each with its own pros and cons.

In this Detour, teams must choose

between Rock and Roll or Hump and Ride.

In Rock and Roll, teams must use only these ancient tools

to transport pounds of rock

across an area of sand as large as a football field.

It's a physically demanding task,

but if they master the ancient system

used to build the pyramids, they might finish quickly.

In Hump and Ride, teams choose a pair of horses

to lead two camels laden with carpets

along a one-mile path through the desert.

Once they've delivered the camels and their cargo

to this carpet merchant, they'll receive their next clue.

This task is not as physically demanding,

but the team's speed is at the mercy

of the horses and camels,

so the task could take a long time to complete.

- "Use one of these traditional devices

"to move two large rocks."

It would probably be hard for us to pull rocks.

"Hump and Ride.

"Hours of operation, : AM to : PM."

- Oh. - It's :.

- [Charla] We can't make it over in three minutes.

It's a mile away.

- Where's the- - You're not even listening.

- [Mirna] Charla, we can make that.

I can make that, then you can make that.

[slow music]

- Oh my gosh, how cool is this?

There's my satchel.

I kind of felt like Indiana Jones.

I'm coming up.

[dramatic music]

- Okay, Roadblock.

I guess I'm doing it.

- Charla, they're leaving.

Charla, run.

- [Nicole] All right, baby.

[slow music]

- [Chip] You like you're at the bottom of the earth.

Unbelievable.

[dramatic music]

- Oh yeah, that feels good.

- [Marshall] Okay, come on, Lance.

- [Nicole] It's a map.

- [Brandon] Are you good at puzzles?

- [Charla] Blow on your whistle.

[Mirna whistling]

- Yay, habibi. - Whoo!

- We made it.

- As I was running to the horses,

the only thing I could think about is it's a big horse

and I've never ridden a horse before.

- Welcome.

Up.

Okay, up. - All right.

- Look at this.

- Charla, you look just like a true jockey. [laughs]

- [Charla] I thought everybody else can do it,

so why wouldn't I be able to do it?

- Come on.

- Look how beautiful.

- Oh my gosh, what a day.

[dramatic music]

- I mean, I'm just baffled.

[Lance breathing heavily]

- What's going on?

- [Chip] Is that missing on yours?

- [Nicole] So-

- [Chip] That piece is missing on ours too.

- [Nicole] Okay, so that's where we need to go.

- [Brandon] Hey, I feel good about this.

Let's go.

- [Marshall] Lance, help me up this.

- [Lance] Grab my arm.

[slow music]

- I just hope they don't spit on us, Charla.

- [Charla] Our first time riding a horse

and we're doing just fine.

- [Mirna] It's a piece of cake.

It's like "Lawrence of Arabia."

Charla and Mirna of Arabia.

[dramatic music]

- Yo, got it.

Marshall, over here.

- "Rock and Roll or Hump and Ride."

- Hours of operation for that one

are : AM to : PM.

- It's already :.

- So we gotta do this one.

- [Brandon] "Move two large rocks yards across sand."

- "Make your way to the area marked with the green flag."

- [Chip] Do you see it?

- [Kim] Yeah, there's the green flag down there.

[dramatic music]

- [Kami] That looks like a shaft.

- Oh yes, that does. - Oh my God, let's go.

- [Karli] "Find a satchel of artifacts

"and bring it to the surface."

- Karli, what does a satchel look like?

[dramatic music]

- [Mirna] Oh, it's beautiful. Woo-hoo.

[upbeat music]

- [Charla] Riding the horses and watching the pyramids,

it was everything we imagined Egypt to be.

- Thank you. - Yes.

- Hi. - Hi.

- How are you?

[dramatic music]

- "Make your way to the next pit stop, the Sphinx."

- Teams must now make their way

across the Giza Plateau to the Sphinx,

the pit stop for this leg of the race.

- Okay, we go Sphinx.

Oh my God, the Sphinx.

There it is.

[dramatic music]

- Kim. - Uh-huh.

- I pull and you keep on putting sticks in front.

- Okay.

What we had to do was pull concrete blocks yards.

- So you pull and I put the sticks?

- Yeah.

- We have to pick up one of the logs

and bring it to the front and pull.

So you kind of like are just doing

this little train action thing.

- [Chip] Let's get a system.

- I always wanted to see the pyramids.

- Well we got to do it.

- Another one of my dreams came true.

Oh my gosh, this is the Spinx.

We made it.

- Charla and Mirna. - Yes.

- You're team number two.

[both cheering]

- We had camels today.

We stink as usual.

- Welcome. - Thanks.

- How amazing is this, huh?

- Riding a horse.

I had a great time.

I am capable of doing anything,

and that's why I came on "The Amazing Race."

[dramatic music]

- Oh gosh, Brandon.

I think this is the more physical of the two jobs.

- Come on, pretty bird.

That's my love.

- No, bring it out some.

- How the hell are they doing this?

- [grunts] That was beautiful.

- [grunts] Just get the planks, get the planks.

Just get the planks.

- Lift up.

What are you doing?

Stop looking at the camels.

- Oh my God, it's right in front of me.

I know it.

- There's a shaft to the left that's lit.

- We need to hurry.

- [Linda] Hey, we're almost there.

- Oh, we get our clue. Okay.

Calm down.

Let me do it.

- Maybe this is for something else.

That's where we need to go next.

- [Karli] How do you know?

- I don't know, a guess.

Let's go.

Karli and I do not have a plan.

We have no idea where we're going.

We're clueless.

[dramatic music]

We came from this way.

- Yeah.

- So this would be north.

- [Karli] Come on, Kami.

I don't know if that's it.

Let's try this one.

[slow dramatic music]

- Yay. Whoo! [Karen laughing]

We made it.

"Who's up for going down?"

You're gonna have to do it 'cause of my ankle.

- Okay.

- Go. - Okay.

- [groans] There's gotta be a better way to do this, dude.

[Chip grunting]

- [Chip] You working like

a well-oiled machine now, lady girl.

- Ready?

Dang it.

Hey, Chip.

Can you help a brother out real quick?

[dramatic music]

- The Egyptians were strong people.

Brandon and Niki, they got stuck, so I had to help them.

- Thanks, Chip.

- [Chip] And it may come back to bite me,

but my nature is to help.

- [Karen] That's it, yes.

- Have you got it, Karen?

All right. [clips]

Okay, there's only one piece missing.

Well, let's go to the base of the pyramid where the hole is.

What the hell?

And we're looking for a clue box.

- We've gotta find a clue box.

- We're doing good.

- Baby, you're taking us that way.

I need you-

- [Nicole] Don't talk to me like I'm a child, baby.

Just direct me.

- I need you to pay attention.

- [Nicole] I'm paying attention.

- I respect the heck outta the Egyptians, I tell you that.

'Cause they built these beautiful pyramids doing this.

[Marshall grunting]

Okay, one, two, and. [groans]

[Chip cheering]

Okay.

[crowd applauding]

"Make your way to the next pit stop, the Sphinx."

All righty.

- All right.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

[crowd applauding]

Sorry, baby.

You love me?

You mad at me?

- No, come on.

- "Warning, the last team to check in may be eliminated."

- Come on. - Here.

[dramatic music]

- We're going the wrong way, aren't we?

- Did you find the clue to where to go?

It's right here.

- [Kim] It's right up here.

- You can follow us or not.

Come on, we gotta go.

We have some clashing with the twins

because we had a fight over a taxi cab.

Kami, let me tell you, let me tell you.

I love you guys.

- [Kami] Chip and Kim pointed us in the right direction.

- All right, girly.

Love you guys.

Forgive me now, Kami.

- Okay, you're redeemed.

"Move two large rocks yards across sand."

- Fun.

- I'm pissed.

- We have to find the Sphinx.

- [Nicole] Right over there.

Come on, baby.

- [Brandon] Are we in front of Chip and Kim?

- Yes.

- Brandon and Nicole, you're team number three.

- All right.

Good job, babe.

- [Chip] Who'd have thought that a South Central LA boy,

a Compton girl makes it all the way

through Russia and the Sphinx.

This is unbelievable.

- Chip and Kim, you're team number four.

[both cheering]

- I'm thinking to myself, "Fourth?"

Helping the twins allowed Brandon and Niki to pass us.

I can be a pushover, but I'm not gonna stop being me.

[dramatic music]

- Oh gosh.

We have to do the rocks.

You can't do the other one.

- Okay. - All right.

[sighs] Ow.

- Where are the other teams?

- Don't worry about it.

The other two that are behind us?

- Yeah. - Behind us.

Okay, stop.

- [Karli] Having fun?

- Yeah, wait till the fun starts.

- Yeah, you fun hasn't started yet.

- [Karli] There it is right there.

- One, two, three.

- I hate this.

This is stupid.

- Go, go.

[crowd applauding]

Thank you.

- Hey, we're not giving up, Karli.

We can do this, we can do this.

- [Linda] All right, almost there.

- The Sphinx.

Come on, we're almost there.

[dramatic music]

- Okay, good.

[crowd applauding]

- "Warning, the last team to check in may be eliminated."

- [Linda] Hey, we're doing it.

It's not gonna be that hard.

- Marshall and Lance, you're team number five.

[crowd applauding]

- Thank you very much. [laughs]

"Make your way to the next pit stop, the Sphinx."

Okay, come on.

Come on, Karen, let's go.

- [Karen] Okay.

- [Kami] Maybe we can get back on this road.

- [Linda] God, they're still looking too.

I don't believe this.

- [Kami] That's the Sphinx down there.

- [Karen] There it is, Linda.

Hurry, hurry.

- [Linda] Karen, come on.

[suspenseful music]

- Kami and Karli.

- Yeah. - Yeah.

- You're team number six.

- All right, I'll take that.

[Kami laughing]

[slow music]

- Stay and hold me, okay?

We made it.

- Linda and Karen, you're the last team to arrive.

- Yeah, we kind of figured that. [laughs]

- The good news is this is the first

of four predetermined non-elimination legs

and you're both still in the race.

[both laughing]

The bad news is, there's a new twist in this race.

I need you to empty out your pockets and your wallet

and give me all your money.

Whatever you've got, just hand it over to me.

[dramatic music]

In addition, the start of the next leg of the race,

you're gonna receive no money.

- Oh. - Oh no.

- You're still in this, but you're hanging on by a thread.

The question is, how are you gonna stay in the race

without a penny to your name?

Good luck, get some rest,

'cause I think you're gonna need it.

[slow music]

- [Linda] We have no money.

We're in Egypt where everybody's poor.

It's gonna be hard.

But we're not gonna give up.

[slow music]

- [Phil] Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode.

On the next episode of "The Amazing Race."

[dramatic music]

The penniless moms have to beg just to stay in the race.

- If you could help?

We could give you apples.

Even .

Will you help us? - Will you help us?

- [Phil] While Brandon and Nicole get hot.

- [Nicole] Brandon looks great with his shirt off.

- [Phil] And Charla and Mirna

and Colin and Christie butt heads again.

- This is our cab right here.

We never [beep] left him. Sorry.

- Get out.

- [Mirna] These people are maniacs.

[slow music]

[dramatic music]

[dramatic music continues]
