- [Narrator] Previously on the Amazing Race,

teams took off from this Caribbean paradise in Mexico

and flew over , miles to London, England.

Aaron and Arianne led a group of teams on a mission

to take out the first place twins.

- Twin hunt! - It's a twin hunt.

- [Narrator] The intensity of the race wore some teams down.

- Okay, well I can't run this way.

Do you wanna carry some more of my stuff?

- Okay, so we're taking a cab right now.

- [Narrator] But helped friendships form between others.

- All the outsiders are here.

- These guys are brave and they're fast,

and twins have a thing going on.

They have a connection.

- [Narrator] The twins found themselves equalized

with other teams.

- No more advantage, but good looks and straight to you.

- [Narrator] But in the end,

Derek and Drew still finished first.

- Yes.

- [Narrator] Teri and Ian struggled to stay in the race.

- Come on Teri!

- Don't give me instructions.

- Sorry.

- [Narrator] And finally managed a ninth place finish.

- We made it!

We made it!

- [Narrator] Dennis and Andrew failed to beat other teams

to the pit stop and were eliminated.

- Good job.

- [Narrator] Now, nine teams remain.

Who will be eliminated tonight?

[upbeat instrumental music]

- This is Dunnottar Castle

an year old fortress in the Highlands of Scotland.

This was the third pit stop in the race around the world.

Teams arrived here at the end of the last leg

for a mandatory rest period.

That allows them to eat, sleep

and mingle with the other teams.

The nine teams waiting here,

have no idea what's in store for them.

They have to figure out for themselves how to get to

the next yellow and red route marker by solving clues

they'll find in sealed envelopes.

Will Aaron & Arianne, Flo and Zach

and Heather and Eve make good on their vow

to bring down the front runners, Derek and Drew?

And can Teri and Ian get ahead after checking out,

lasts for the past two legs?

Derek and Drew who were the first to arrive at : AM

will depart at : PM.

- To find out what's in store for you next

walk to the Stonehaven Harbor

and look for a message in a bottle.

- [Narrator] Teams must now walk over a mile and a half

to Stonehaven Harbor, where they will find their next clue.

- Walk to Stonehaven Harbor.

- It says, walk, you can't go any other way?

Do you know where Stonehaven Harbor is?

- Yeah, it's two miles to your right.

- To the right?

There's not a whole lot of love going towards us.

- I think we're kind of outsiders us and the other brothers,

Ken and Gerard.

- Look for a message in a bottle.

Just take it slow down these stairs.

We've kind of aligned ourselves with the twins a little bit.

We started this sort of little collaboration with them.

- Is that the Wonder Twins?

- I think so.

- We'd aligned ourselves with Ken and Gerard.

We were the first two out on this leg.

We decided that we would wait up for them

and hike to Stonehaven Harbor together.

- Let's get a nice little jog going here,

just to create some distance.

- Walk to the Stonehaven Harbor

and look for the message in the bottle.

So, we're going, what direction?

Huh?

- I have no idea, I don't know.

- Can you just take a break and think for one second?

Let's just think.

- About what?

- What direction we're going in.

- I'm just trying to maintain a good friendship.

It's really hard.

It's been stressful in this race

and I am doing my best to accommodate her needs

and Flo is doing her best to accommodate mine.

- You have $ For this leg. - Yes we do.

- Up and down. - Up and down.

- Up and down. - In Scotland.

- We wanted to surpass the twins.

We haven't been able to do that yet.

We haven't been able to catch up.

We're hoping that if we can keep riding their asses,

that we can overcome.

- Eve?

- Yeah?

Doing the best that I can.

- The race invigorates me, ignites that competitive fire.

Unfortunately, it has the opposite effect on Eve.

- I'm so tired and I feel bad,

'cause the whole race is so challenging.

I've cried more on this race than I've ever cried

in my entire life.

And so I'm just trying to stay in the game.

I'm trying to stay focused.

- No, we're walking, you have to walk.

- Two miles, two miles, basically.

- How we doing?

Is anyone else, here comes another team.

Well, this is Zach and Flo,

maybe they're trying to catch up.

Let's just stay ahead of 'em, let 'em get tired.

- You're coming?

- Flo!

- Is that you?

- Flo!

- Yeah, pick up some pace slow pokes.

- Here, come on, come on.

- When we left in the castle in Scotland,

the three teams, Zach and Flo, Aaron & Arianne

and Eva I decided to make an alliance

and together we could find the first route marker.

- It is one and a half miles to the right.

Look for route markers like on these little paths too,

Drew, just look.

- This is officially now a twin hunt.

Those twins, they just need to make one mistake

and they'll make it.

I just, I hope it's soon is.

- Is that Stonehaven Harbor right down there though?

Could we have taken that path?

- Michael is type C and I'm type A and hopefully,

maybe we can make a B together.

I choose my battles.

Basically, I'm trying not to get upset

over every little issue that comes up.

People are who they are, I can't change that.

I can't change who he is.

- Beware of the werewolf.

- Okay, we're good.

We just gotta keep going now.

I think it's right below us right here, right?

- It is, it's right there.

- It looks like it's leading down.

- You think down here or down on the road?

- Look, right down, straight ahead.

- I don't know, you think we should take this path here?

Just scattered out real quick.

- Can we hustle just a little bit?

- But if you guys need to pull ahead, you let us know.

- Oh, you guys is this really what we wanna be doing?

Getting off the beaten road?

- It's gotta be it.

- Zach found a dirt path that led down to the harbor

that saved us a bunch of time.

Are these the bottles over the edge?

- Yes.

- Oh, there, here they are.

Here they are.

Here they are.

- Yes.

- Don't break the bottle.

- Your next destination can be found on the label

of this bottle.

- It's Portugal, if it's port, it's Portugal.

- [Narrator] Teams must now travel

more than miles to Porta, Portugal.

Once there, they'll make their way to the Calem Port Lodge

where they'll find their next clue.

- Fantastic, we're going--

- There's a port in Portugal.

Let's keep going.

- It's Portugal.

- Calem Lodge in Portugal.

- Let's move.

- There it is to the right.

- Awesome. - Yeah, here it is.

Here's the sign.

- Derek? - What?

- You don't see any bottles?

- Here.

- Hey guys, where's the clue?

- Come on, next destination can be found on the label

of this bottle.

- Excuse me.

Oh, we need some help.

I thought everyone in Scotland was supposed to be so nice.

- Oh, these are bottles.

- Your next destination can be found on the label

of this bottle.

- Calem Port Lodge.

- We're really trying to avoid the brothers,

all the brothers.

- So what are we doing?

We're we're booking Aberdeen to Portugal?

- Hi, I need to book some tickets.

- Gerard was a master and we pre-booked our tickets

before the morning.

- I'm gonna need all your passports, guys.

- Can I have some change?

- Here's a pound.

- I have an emergency.

I really need to be booked on a flight from Aberdeen,

Scotland, but I like didn't feel comfortable

leaving the town of Stonehaven

without having some sort of ticket.

Found a flight.

I reserved tickets for, even had Aaron and Arianne

and me and Zach.

I think you guys should call a cab to here

and get us to the Aberdeen airport.

- So we need to find an airport.

- That would be a Aberdeen. - Aberdeen goes international.

It's open until five or six in the morning.

I'm trying to get a phone number for British Airways.

- Get a couple of pounds out for his phone.

- Absolutely.

- Oh no, no, no.

- No you're helping us.

We're wasting your minutes.

- It's free, it's my mom's phone.

[laughing]

- Okay.

- What don't I love about John Vito?

He's just so kind and so good to me.

And I know that he appreciates me and he treasures me

and finds me special too.

And I think that's what makes us the great couple

that we are.

- Thanks, player.

All right, brother.

Thanks a lot.

- Good luck for the Portugal.

- And now we're passing the pack.

- This is the first time in a long time

I've felt really good.

- Yeah, I know.

- I've been just trying to catch up,

trying to catch up.

- Now we're feeling all right.

- Yep, this is it. - Oh, nice.

- Good job baby. - Yeah.

- What does it say?

Bruno de Gaia, Portugal.

- Take the whole bottle.

- I have the label.

- No, Portugal? - Portugal.

Oh, nice, we're going to Portugal babe.

- Hello, here's our taxi service.

We need to be at the airport

because all these other teams

are gonna try to get there before we do.

- We're going to Aberdeen.

- Hi.

Can somebody call me a taxi?

- Okay.

- He'll come at four o'clock?

- Thank you very much.

- One way or another we'll stick together today.

- Really, it's about chasing down those two brothers.

- All of those brothers.

- All brothers.

- Twins are evil.

- Down with the brothers.

[laughing]

- Let's go.

- Do we wanna go to the left?

- Is that the airport there?

Oh, here's the airport right here.

Are those teams?

Hi!

- Did you book your flight yet?

We got confirmation that we're on the flight.

- So are we.

- Okay, here we go.

So a little warning.

Pow-wow down there with the teams.

It's actually so nice having two alliances,

now it's just so much more competitive.

- I say we go.

[upbeat music]

- One of our major goals this leg of the race

was to pursue those twins.

And we caught up to them, like mission accomplished.

- And the other brothers.

- Stonehaven Harbor, baby.

Look for a message in the bottle.

Braveheart, Braveheart for real.

We've been feeling the pressure,

but we're in the back with Ian and Teri.

So, we're thinking one of these teams are going home

and when it comes down to it, Ian and Teri can't keep up.

- Okay, we're ready to leave.

- Made some major mistakes,

we've been hanging on by our fingernails,

on the verge of being eliminated.

- We know that either Damon and Andre would be last

or we would.

- Let's put some heat on their tail.

One, two, three, four.

- We're going to Portugal, baby.

Good luck.

- Get the bottle.

- So we gotta get a ride to the airport?

We have to ask.

- I have a phone number for Aberdeen airport.

Could you possibly dial that for me?

- Yes, certainly.

- How do we get to Portugal?

- We have to fly.

- I'm trying to book a flight from Aberdeen to Portugal.

- Jack, this is Ian.

The guy you gave the ride to the castle yesterday.

Real good, we got our next clue in our next route

and I need your help.

- Whichever one can get me to the fastest.

- We're gonna keep with our strategy.

You know, just observe each group.

They're standing down the street with it,

they're not making any moves.

- Thanks so much.

- Oh.

We're the only ones in Stonehaven.

- So we're in last place now.

- Ian and Teri were just able to catch a cab.

Looks like they may be on their way to the airport.

- .

- Taxi!

We need to get to the airport as quickly as possible.

- We thought everyone was getting on the direct flight

to Porto.

When we got to London,

we realized that the twins and Ken and Gerard

had this plan to go through Germany,

to get themselves into Porto early.

- We're gonna be in Porto Portugal,

hopefully we should be beating all the other teams.

By about minutes.

- We looked into that.

We decided that the layover there was too brief

and we didn't wanna risk it.

- The twins and the brother team

went on the Cologne flight to make it earlier than us,

but it's another connection.

And only a half an hour,

there's only half an hour to change planes in Cologne.

- We think we're really gonna make up some time.

We're risking everything.

- We know we're catching up.

- Where's the rest of the crew?

You mean y'all didn't come together?

- We kind of assumed that maybe they weren't gonna

catch this flight.

So here they are, you know, loud and obnoxious as ever.

- It feels great to see these people.

Now we're no longer bringing up the rear end.

We're in the pack.

Maybe we can get someone else to smell some rear end

for a while.

- Seven of the nine teams are all on this flight.

All the brothers missing their connecting flight

would do us all a big favor.

- We gotta get fast.

Everyone's on board, we can't miss it.

- Hurry up, go, go, Derek.

- This is a tight connection, man.

We literally had about five minutes

to run like two terminals over, which was a little risky.

- Did you check in already?

- No, we haven't and we don't have our boarding passes.

- We don't have to check any bags.

We're just walking on.

- We got there and she says, nope, the flight's closed.

This flight is boarding now.

We need to get in that gate right now.

The flight's leave--

- You need a boarding pass, I'm sorry.

- Can you call the gate?

We need to get on the plane.

We have to be on this flight.

[suspenseful music]

- So we can't go to the gate?

- We need to get in that gate right now,

the flight's leave--

- You need a boarding pass, I'm sorry.

- We're happy to be caught up with these guys.

Levels the playing field.

We all can race now.

- It feels good to be in the running again,

when we really thought that we were out of it,

we're caught up with the pack.

- All seven teams,

we're hoping the pack of brothers

are gonna miss their connections.

- Can you call and tell them to hold it?

- Yeah, that's what she's doing.

- You're very late.

- And we need to get on the plane.

We have to be on this flight.

- Okay, thank you so much.

They're holding our plane.

- We're getting our boarding passes.

Thank you.

- Thank you so much.

- Here we go.

- Okay, so we're set.

Thank God we made that flight, the connecting flight.

- Barely made the connection.

- Our brotherhood with the Wonder Twins,

it really did work out well.

And it's gonna probably continue a little bit.

[suspenseful music]

[suspenseful music continues]

- Get a taxi.

- Let's go Gerard.

- Do you have the address?

Yeah, get in this one.

- In the trunk, in the trunk.

- Thank you.

We're gonna follow them.

Calem Port Lodge, quickly.

- [Narrator] Teams are now making their way

to Calem Port Lodge,

a winery on the outskirts of Porto

where they'll find their next clue.

- So, we're very excited.

We are the first two teams in.

So, traveling with Ken and Gerard has been great.

We get along so well with them.

- The Wonder Twins are ahead of us.

We're still aligned together.

It's working out pretty well.

It looks like we beat everyone into the city of Porto.

- I'm gonna get ugly if I have to.

Taxi!

Taxi, taxi.

Hold on, taxi!

Taxi!

[speaking in foreign language]

- Get in. - Get in.

- I think Ian defines ugly American.

You don't walk in screaming and yelling

in the middle of a terminal.

That guy is a pig.

- It was crazy.

- I wanna see them go down.

- Thank you.

- Thank you for playing.

- The gloves are off now.

The race is on.

- Okay, let's go.

Calem Port Lodge?

- Let's go.

- Taxi!

- We're in Portugal, baby.

- Calem Port Lodge?

Calem Port Lodge.

We're the last ones to leave the airport--

- Yeah, we need to step up and catch up.

Calem Port, is that the flag?

[speaking in foreign language]

- Come here, so you can read yours.

- Detour.

- A Detour is a choice between two tasks

each with its own pros and cons.

In this detour teams need to choose between two ways

of delivering port wine to local restaurants, their choice,

old school or new school.

In old school teams load one barrel of port wine,

weighing more than pounds onto one of these traditional

Portuguese boats and help the oarsmen row across river

to the town of Porto.

The boat travels slowly,

and the task will be physically demanding,

but teams will have to deliver port

to only one nearby restaurant.

In new school, teams load crates of port wine bottles

onto one of these trucks

and drive into the city of Porto.

The truck is likely to move faster

and the task won't be physically demanding,

But the teams will have to deliver three crates of port

to each of these three restaurants.

In both choices teams must get signatures

to prove they've made their deliveries correctly.

- Okay, let's the one on the boat.

- Three crates to each of the following restaurants.

- No, we're doing the boat.

- This doesn't look nice.

- We just have to carry this thing?

- Yeah.

- Don't let it go outta control,

there'll be wine all over Porto.

- Keep it going, keep it going.

- Oh my God.

- Just come on.

- The heat is on, we're in the thick of it.

- We want to be there with the pack and run in the race.

- I gotta get ready here, I gotta get ready.

[group speaking in foreign language]

[upbeat music]

- Okay, we're in, let's go.

- This isn't too bad.

- We're actually moving, we're doing all right.

Now, we got a good lead.

- This ain't easy.

- It's a big ass boat.

- I thought it would be a little row boat.

- I thought like a big, you know, Viking ship.

- If our taxi driver could put a little hustle

behind the wheel, we might be okay.

- Oh my back.

I ain't gonna be able to walk tomorrow.

- I know.

- Do you know where Patisqueria o Muro,

the restaurant is?

- It's on the corner.

- On the corner, all the way down?

You man handle that thing.

- Go Ken, go.

Look at him go.

Wonderful, Ken.

- Here's the flag.

This is where we're getting off, right here.

- Oh, there it is, that's the route marker.

- Oh God, people have been here.

Let's go over here.

Come over here.

- There it is.

- There it is.

We're gonna get out right here.

- One delivery is easier.

Then help the oarsmen,

there's gonna be help.

Which do you wanna do?

Old school or new school? - Old school.

- Where are the trucks?

Where's the trucks?

- Drive into the city of Porto.

This one.

- Babe, what are we doing?

Old school or new school? - New school, let's go.

- You wanted some port wine?

- Yes.

- Can we get you a signature?

Right here, thank you.

Now that you've delivered your port,

deliver yourselves to Gate F of the Estádio do Restelo

complex in Lisbon.

- [Narrator] Teams must now travel over miles

by train to the city of Lisbon

and make their way to Gate F of the Estádio do Restelo

soccer stadium to find their next clue.

- You must travel to Lisbon by train,

arriving by train at the Santa Apolónia station.

- Drive to the station.

- On the station, okay.

We can walk?

- Yes, can walk.

- Oh, very good.

- Who's behind us?

Just look and see if it's close.

- Ian, where are you going?

Boats! - Truck!

- Boats, old school.

- I hope you're doing this right.

- Read it.

Come on, hustle up.

- Teri and Ian are right here Arianne.

- On the boat?

- On the boat.

- Don't break the barrel, Teri.

[Aaron speaking in foreign language]

Show me how to go faster.

- Get down.

[group speaking in foreign language]

- Excuse me, excuse me.

- Take this, I'm getting another.

Dre get me one more crate.

Get me one more crate.

- You got it?

I got one.

- We're the first one's out of here.

- Baby, what are the three restaurants we need?

Where are we going?

- All right, hang on, hang on.

- You're gonna drive?

That's it, we got it.

- Let's go guys, faster.

Look, how slow they're going, Arianne.

- They're beating the pants off us Teri.

- Am, I doing good?

- Arianne, we're so close.

Let's go guys, faster.

- Which way is the current going?

- The other way. - There's no way.

- Just get at the top of the stairs,

I'll start to roll it.

- Is this Chez Lapin?

- Can you get those two, I'll get the signature.

- Watch it, don't break it.

- I got it.

Coming through.

- Good luck. - Thank you.

- Excuse me there fella.

Excuse me.

- You have to go by this street.

You have to go first to Santa Katarina.

- Okay. Okay.

- You must go...

- Okay, thank you.

Thank you, thank you.

- You got it?

Let's go.

Let's rock.

I need to know where the...

That restaurant.

- The red umbrellas there.

- Red umbrellas?

- Training field number three,

hours of operation AM to two : AM.

- We can make it.

Look who's here.

We got a book now, we got to run.

- Good.

[intense music]

- Oh, there it is.

- There it is, okay, okay, okay!

- Okay, back there, back?

- Okay.

- Can you help me with it?

- There it is. - Can you help?

Great, you'll get back in.

Hand me one.

- Get the clipboard!

- Right here, take the pen.

- You may deliver it to the first two restaurants

in whichever order you choose,

but you must deliver to the Majestic Cafe last

which is the third one.

- Okay.

- Majestic Cafe, that's it.

Okay.

Okay and I need you to sign and just put Majestic Cafe here.

- No, but I don't have here, the first signing.

- Okay, no, you've got to go to that one

before you come to this one.

- Okay, no problem.

Okay, we're gonna leave those here.

- We went to restaurant three, second,

and when we got there, the gentleman

would not sign for the wine,

but he said, leave it here, finish your delivery

and come back.

- Oh yeah, we're coming up on it.

- Okay, baby,

- Retiro dos Carvalhos, we're gonna make a left.

- Is this the street? - Yeah.

- Okay, that's it.

- Go to the truck, make sure they sign it.

Hold on, are we first?

- Jill, we were the first ones in!

- You don't want to be in neutral, you want to be in first.

- I know, can you find it?

- That's first.

That's fine, step on the brake, step on the brake!

- I just saw a sign back here, Jay,

that was the street.

This is it right here, this is it right here.

I got one, you got two, right?

- Where is it?

- It's in Bachulas, Eve, reverse.

You're good.

You're good.

- Okay, three bottles.

- Where are we?

- Right there, both are right there,

that's the place.

- It says stop, stop,

and bring bottles in?

- Bring bottles in, all right.

- They got us blocked in, dude.

Now we're sandwiched in between two trucks.

- Come on, come on!

- We made our delivery, we want to get out.

- Heather, I see the cars,

I can't get these out of the truck.

- Move it, come on, Eve, move it!

- I don't think our taxi man knows where he's going.

Too late to turn back now though.

We're last, we just can't be eliminated in this leg.

We're too damn good for this.

[cheerful music]

- Right now, we're a little bit tense seeing

the other teams we know, we are the last,

just trying to get to this first route marker

in Portugal.

- We're lost.

- Hope everyone else got lost.

- I see the marker, I see the flag.

- Oh man, we're behind.

- Old school or new school, what do you think?

- Oh sh**t.

- There's one boat sitting there and I don't know

if I can drive in here.

- Let's just try the boat.

[intense music]

- Flo and Zach were behind us,

as Heather and Eve were blocking us.

- You want to help me take these out of the truck

so you'll go faster.

- Move your truck, move your truck.

- I will, but just, I need--

- I got this, move your truck.

- I just need two more.

- Go move your truck.

Right now, move it, move it.

Come on, Eve, move it.

- Who did it for you?

- Andre and Damon, they're both three,

just hurry. - Okay.

- Go ahead, go ahead now.

- Back up because I'm gonna roll.

- Oh, we gotta get a lead on these people,

so here's the station right here.

- Tickets, this is the earliest train.

- Yes, the next one.

- Okay, let's do it.

- It's hot.

It's heavy.

- This is me sweating again and now I gotta row a boat.

This ain't no nursery rhyme.

- Right here, right here, right here.

- There you go.

[speaking in foreign language]

- Beautiful restaurant, I'd love to eat here.

- I can't believe I got Andre and Damon

to carry our bottles in.

- I can't believe it either.

- I was like, I'm not moving unless you carry them.

- We gotta go right, that's the only way we can do it.

- No, no, you can't go this way Zach,

you gotta go down.

- Just leave these guys here.

- Damn, she's still in front of us, dude,

she can't fricking drive.

- I can't do this.

- Just go into reverse.

- Okay.

- You're in it, now go.

- Now I'm not in a gear.

- We're having real problems.

- Oh my god, she's k*lling me, dude,

she's k*lling me.

She can't fricking drive a stick.

- Okay.

- So just go into first.

- What did you expect from a Harvard girl, dude,

you know?

That's not part of her curriculum, driving cars.

- I can't switch gear.

I'm afraid I might k*ll somebody.

- I'm surprised she didn't hit anyone yet,

or drive through a store.

Everybody watch out, American driver in front.

- She's trying to go through a pedestrian walkway.

Tight squeeze.

- I got plenty of room, I didn't go to Harvard.

- I'm so upset with this situation,

can you get me to first now?

- We're here.

Okay, so train station.

- Train number ?

- That's the earliest train?

- At what time it leaves?

- Yo!

- It felt fantastic, they've been dogging us

since the beginning.

- It felt good.

- We felt awful about being at that train station

and every team coming behind us.

- Stay here.

- Back to the Majestic Cafe, getting our signature

for our final delivery.

- Good luck. - Thank you.

- When I win a million bucks, we're gonna come back

and have dinner.

All right.

- So we need to go to Lisbon.

- All right, travel to Lisbon.

- It's nice to see familiar faces,

you guys, let me just tell you,

you want to get, it's a : train.

- We want to go to Lisbon.

- Okay, Majestic, it's over there.

- Thank you.

- Train?

- Sure, train.

- Do you speak English?

Santa Apolonia station in Lisbon.

- I think this was it, right up here.

- There's Andre and Damon,

they're done. - I know.

- This detour sucks.

- Eve, come back.

- I'm going forward.

- And just start bringing stuff.

- What did I hit?

That's why I didn't want to go further, I'm sorry.

It's been a really bad day.

I crashed the car.

- It's okay.

- All right, I think we're last.

- Here, can you help me, sir, I'm sorry,

I just crashed the car, I'm like,

about to cry. - Can you sign this?

- Hi, thank you. - We have the next clue.

- I just crashed the car.

- Two tickets to Santa Apolonia station.

- Oh, gracia!

- Hi, guys, thanks for your help today.

- Are we in last place?

- We are here together, there's no last place.

- There's other people here?

- Yes.

- When's the next train?

- :, everyone's here. - Everyone's here, okay.

- This ticket goes to Santa Apolonia.

- We have to go to Santa Apolonia station.

- The other teams all caught up to us

and that's where the nightmare began.

- We were all going back up again,

there was no way to separate ourselves

from the pack.

- I'm happy we caught up, we're in last.

Now all of a sudden, we're completely square.

- Where's Lisbon?

[intense music]

- We're all nerveracked because we're about

to come on to a road block.

- Everyone is gonna be competing

and somebody is gonna be eliminated

so we're not thrilled about that.

- We're in the pack,

we're just so thrilled to be in the pack.

- Absolutely.

- Alliance, schmalliance.

- Because it's so vital to just like stay in the game,

yourself.

- The twins are shaking, they're shaking.

- When we got to that train, we weren't gonna wait

for the twins, we weren't gonna share a cab,

we're on our own.

- It's like being on death row, you know,

you're just counting down the minutes

till one of us dies.

[fast-paced music]

[fast-paced music continues]

- [Narrator] Teams are now making their way

to Estádio do Restelo soccer stadium in Lisbon.

[speaking in foreign language]

- Which one, this one?

- Sir, we might be-- - Come on, taxi.

- Tell him to drive this cab, it's an emergency.

- Estádio do Restelo.

- Here we go.

- Estádio do Restelo.

- Good job, Zach.

- You are in competition, guys?

- Yes.

- Big competition.

- There we go, there we go.

- Rapido, rapido.

- Rapido, please.

- Expresso.

- As fast as you can.

- That's Ken and Gerard.

Hey, we need to go fast, rapido, rapido.

- He's working it, going good.

- Yeah!

- We're dead last.

- Again. - Again.

So you know, it's the way it goes.

- We'll see what happens when we get there.

- Eve keep it together, all right?

- I am. - You're doing well.

- There are the twins.

- This is really crazy.

We're way behind.

- We have to get there first.

- There is a short way.

- Short way?

Fantastic, get us there first.

- The driver's like a Grand Prix racer.

We see the twins to the right.

- Rapido, no!

- He's gonna take on everyone else.

- Can you beat that taxi and get in front of him?

- We're getting passed again by everybody,

this is our luck.

- Thank you, sir.

- I mean there's obviously a couple of ways to go.

- Okay, as long as you're taking us the fastest way.

- We'll get there first!

Dead or alive!

- We just need to relax, when we get there,

we'll crush them.

- Yeah, he's good, he's like the wind.

[speaking in foreign language]

- That's good.

- Thank you sir.

[speaking in foreign language]

- We got it, Ken, we got it!

[intense music]

- Where's the clue?

- It's on the clock.

- Roadblock.

- A roadblock is a task that only one person

may perform.

In this roadblock, that person has to enter one of these

soccer goals and block one penalty kick

from a teenage Portuguese soccer player.

Not an easy feat in the country where most kids

begin playing soccer almost as soon as they learn to walk.

Once the referee has determined

that a goal has been properly blocked,

he'll give the team the next clue.

- You want to do it though? - I'll do it.

- Should have long arms and fast feet,

that's you.

- Let's go, let's go.

- Okay.

- I need my bag.

- Easy, easy please.

[speaking in foreign language]

- Please!

- Keep going, Ken, keep going.

- Easy!

- That person should have long arms

and fast feet, you?

- Drew, you do it.

- Okay.

- Damon's gonna do it.

- Block one penalty kick.

- I'm doing it.

- Let's go, Zach, go, there's other teams, go!

Go Zach, go!

Oh, so close!

- Use your legs and your arms.

- Good!

- It took me only two tries,

it was just my cat-like reflexes.

- Congratulations,

that was a World Cup performance.

Now you must walk to the pit stop.

- Teams must now walk

one and a half miles to the Torre De Belem.

This -year-old fortress is the pit stop

for this leg of the race,

the last team to check in here will be eliminated.

- Where's the van?

- I use Michael's strength

when it's needed and I think a lot of people

don't have Michael's strength in many ways.

[speaking in foreign language]

- No, no, no.

[speaking in foreign language]

- We gotta just start walking.

- Go, go, go.

Go!

- Good, good, good come!

- You must walk to the pit stop.

- Come on, baby.

- Come on, buddy.

- Come on Heather!

- Right here, here.

Here's your bag.

- It's not looking good.

- What sucks about this right now

is we just don't know if we're the first cab,

the last cab.

- Right at me, please.

- Very nice, is that it?

You must walk, the last team to check in

will be eliminated.

- Come on, come on, come on!

- You gotta go, honey.

Everybody is here, go!

- We're the last people to arrive.

- The very last.

- Nice and easy.

- You must walk to the pit stop, the last team

to check in will be eliminated.

- Oh my God, that was amazing.

Did you see how I stopped it?

- Yeah, come on sweetie! - With my face!

- You did great!

- Come on!

Yes!

Get the ref, get the thing, Z, get the thing!

- Please, please, kick it.

- Block the kick, come on.

- Yes!

- Good!

- Walk to the pit stop, the last team to check in

will be eliminated.

- Are we last off the field or no?

- No.

- Everyone's gone.

- Bring it.

- Roadblock.

You're doing it.

Block it.

- Yeah, right.

- Block it.

- Just concentrate, you're gonna do it, focus!

Oh my God, Arianne,

you can do it, just dive!

- I'm so short!

- Block it!

All right!

- Teri and Ian did it already.

- Now you must walk to the pit stop.

- Everyone's gone, that's it.

- I can't do it.

- We're done, we're out.

- Let's go down.

We gotta--

- Try and find someone to ask.

- How do you pronounce it?

- Torre De Belem.

- You must walk to the pit stop, Torre De Belem.

Hills always slope to the water.

- You must walk.

- Do you know where, Torre De Belem?

- We're last, we're last.

- This is where we suck it up, come on, we're there,

come on!

- Show them what we're made of, Teri!

- Arianne, focus, you can do it, just dive!

- I'm too short!

- Arianne, don't think negatively,

you can do it!

- Torre De Belem in Lisbon,

you must walk to the next pit stop,

the last team will be eliminated.

You did a good job, Arianne, we're done,

we're out.

[intense music]

- Get your compass out.

- It's gone, it's gone.

- Where is it? - I don't know,

it's not my--

- What street is it?

- This is freaky!

- We went over the part of this, Aaron.

- Torre De Belem in Lisbon.

- You must walk to the pit stop?

- The last team to check in will be eliminated.

- You must walk?

You mean we can't ride?

When it says walk, does that mean you can't ride?

- Oh, no, we have to get out, go back sir.

- Sir, stop, stop, go back.

- Let's get out. - Let's walk, get out.

[speaking in foreign language]

- How many minutes?

[speaking in foreign language]

Walking.

Walking, we have to walk.

- Is that what it means? - I don't know.

[speaking in foreign language]

- I think it just means we must walk into it.

- Yeah.

- Okay, we'll go to the pit stop and walk in.

- You can't run into the pit stop, I don't know.

- You have to walk, you can't take a taxi.

- Walk means run, skip, jump, hop?

- Torre de Belem.

- I don't see other teams--

- No one's walking on the road.

- We're doing good, we're doing good,

we got a great pace.

You will get that ice cream tomorrow.

There it is, straight down, straight down,

we got it.

- How are you doing baby, all right?

- Yeah.

- I've a bad cramp.

- Torre De Belem, can you show me where it is, please?

- I can't seem to find the pit stop.

- Eve, pay him, quick.

- You have to pay him.

- You start going, we have to walk.

- Come on, Eve.

- Welcome to Lisbon.

- Thank you.

- Heather and Eve, you are the first team to arrive.

- What, where is everybody else?

It's all psychotic because nobody else is around us.

- Please!

Please.

- Let's jump in.

Hello.

- Ken and Gerard, you're the second team to arrive.

- Yes!

All right.

- Just coming into that mat really just felt awesome.

- It felt great. - It felt good.

- This way.

- No map or anything?

- Come on, Z!

- Flo and Zach, you're the third team to arrive.

- Yes!

We were pulling out all the stops and here we are,

we got here third.

- Derek and Drew, you're the fourth team to arrive.

- All right!

- Come on, Teri, please!

Come on, dig it in, hurrah, come on, run!

- You gotta do this now, now!

- Mother Portugal, here I am.

For duty.

- Welcome to Lisbon.

- Andre and Damon, you're the fifth team to arrive.

- Yes.

We're good two spots.

- I'm dropping my pack.

- No!

I love you, come on!

You're gonna come in here with me.

- Teri and Ian you're the sixth team to arrive.

- We ran our asses off, I yelled at her,

I dragged her, I prompted her.

- We're here. - We made it.

God bless America!

- This is like a bad joke.

It can't get any worse than this right now,

I mean we already think we're out and now we're just lost.

Flag down a truck.

- Let me take that bag from you.

- All of a sudden my legs just started giving out,

as hard as I wanted to run, I just couldn't.

- Here's some rest.

Let's take it easy.

- Come on, baby.

- John Vito and Jill, you're the seventh team to arrive.

- Okay!

- I think we're the last team.

- Don't worry about it.

- Oh my God, look at this.

- What's the word?

- Michael and Kathy, you're the eight team

to arrive.

- Oh my God!

- This means a lot, we really thought we were last.

- Just say it isn't so!

- Aaron and Arianne,

as you know, you're the last team to arrive.

However, Heather and Eve, as you yourselves

admitted, you did not follow the directions

of the last clue correctly.

You were meant to take a walk from the roadblock

here to the pit stop.

And a walk as defined in the glossary

of the rule book

means to travel by foot as opposed to by car.

But you mistakenly took a taxi.

And by taking a taxi you made a gain in time of

at least seven minutes.

The custom is in a situation like this

to administer the penalty of the time gained

plus an additional minutes

which would mean that you guys have received

a penalty of minutes.

Now, in most legs of the race,

this wouldn't really have a major impact,

but because the teams arrived so closely together

tonight, within the space of about minutes,

the penalty of minutes unfortunately

makes all the difference.

So, Aaron and Arianne, you are still in the race

and Heather and Eve, I'm sorry to tell you

that you've both been eliminated.

- It's better that we go out.

- We made a choice and it turned out to be the wrong one,

we got eliminated because we misread a clue.

- We were eliminated for a mistake that anybody

could make.

- We want to win the race, but we didn't want to have

to win it this way.

- I know.

I'm glad that you guys get to stay in.

- Oh girls.

- We're both really happy with how we played the game,

we played it very ethically,

very honestly.

- I think that Eve and I shared some amazing experiences.

I'm so proud of her for overcoming so many

of her fears, we had like some amazing memories

from this race.

- I did things I never thought I could do

and I conquered a lot of fears

and I went, I'm a lot stronger than I thought I could be

and that really is an amazing thing.

[tranquil music]

- [Narrator] Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode.

On the next episode of the Amazing Race.

The towering cliffs of Portugal become

Flo's worst nightmare.

- I wanna get off!

Please!

- [Narrator] And critical mistakes spell disaster.

- Jesus, that's unleaded!

- The car died.

- It did say Diesel.

- Damn it!

- There's no brake!
