Wow!
I just love reading the Gazette.

It's our newspaper
here in Woodland Valley

and it keeps me up
to date on what's going on.

For example,
check out this headline:

"Nesting Season Begins:
Sparrows All A-Twitter.

"Well, good for them!

Oh, look at this!

"Bears Blissful as
Berry Bushes Bloom.

"Now.
that's what I call good news!

[chuckles]

Well, come on in...

You know... hmm... [sniffing]

Wait a second.
What's that smell?

[sniffing]

Oooo. It smells like...

um...

It smells like...

What's the word?

Um...

you know, that-that-that word.
Um...

you know...
for that um... fruit.

You know, the fruit that's
red on the outside and

white on the inside.
It grows on apple trees.

What's the word...
what's the word?

Hmm...

Apple? That's right! Apple!

Apple.

Apple is a word that begins
with A.

Wait a minute...

[sniffing]

[gasps] It's you! Ooh!

[sniffing] Oooo!

Tell me-did you
just eat an apple?

Because you smell all
sweet and apple-y.

[sniffing] Aaah!

Or maybe you smell
this good all the time.

[chuckles]

You know...

[chuckles]

It is kind of funny that
I forgot the word apple.

But then,
there are so many words,

it's easy to forget
one once in a while.

Hey.

[whooshing sound]

Words.

Mm-Hmm. Words.

Words are great.

There's a word for,
well, everything.

Like...

oh! There's a word for this--

"book".

Yeah,

and oh, there's a word for that-

"lamp".

Oh, and ''telephone".

Hm-mmm.

Oh, and the word "pillow",

"ball",

"table",

"picture" ...

Yeah! There are so
many words out there!

And you can use them
to say something simple

like "I like you. "

Or you can use beautiful,
fancy words to say

something like -

"Shall I compare thee
to a summer's day?

Thou art more lovely
and more temperate. "

Neat, huh? That was written
by a guy named Shakespeare.

I hear he was pretty
good with words.

[chuckles]

And the best thing about words

is that you can use them
to tell people

how you feel and what you need!

[Hammond playing]

You know a lot of great words!

But you know, there's another
thing you can do with words.

You can read them,

and that's what this bear
is going to do right now

with his newspaper.

Newspapers are wonderful.

They let you know what's going
on in the world around you.

And newspapers
have lots of words.

Now let's see... Umm...

Ahh!

Here's the sports section!

Bears love sports.

"Ooh!

Snail Marathon Planned:
Race to Last All Summer."

Sounds exciting.

Oh, look at this: "Snake
Wrestling Ends in a Tie. "

Hmm...
sounds like a knotty situation.

Quack! Quack!

-Quack quack quack!
-Oh come on Harry!

-It'll be fun!
-Quack quack quack!

Hey! That sounds like Harry.

Harry spent the night last night
here in the Big Blue House

and I think he's in the kitchen
playing with Tutter.

Quack quack quack!
Quack quack quack!

Hmm.

Quack quack quack!
Quack quack quack!

That sounds like
an awful lot of quacking.

Better see what's going on.

Come on.

Quack quack quack!

-Quack! Quack! Quack!
-Harry! Come on Harry!

Harry! Harry, what is it?
What's the matter?

-Quack quack quack!
-Come on, cool it.

It's okay, Harry!

Tutter, do you know
what's wrong with Harry?

We were just playing knights in
shining armor, that's all, Bear.

I'm Tutter the Great,

of course,

and-and I told Harry that he
should be Big Beaky the Dragon.

Quack! Quack! Quack quack quack!

Calm down!

See,
that's when he got all upset.

Bear!

[whispering] So, I've been
doing a little experiment,

and
I think I've narrowed it down.

It had something to do
with when I say the words

'big' and 'beak' together.

Watch this, watch this.

Hey Harry, big beak!

Quack! Quack! Quack!

-Um... okay, Tutter! Think th-
-See? Isn't that interesting?

And it's interesting too,

because I can
say the word 'big'...

Big!

...and I can say
the word 'beak'...

Beak!

Nothing, isn't that neat?

But when I put them together

and say big beak he gets all
quacky! Watch this -watch...

-No, no, Tutter, I think-
-Big beak!

-Big beak!
-Quack! Quack! Quack!

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
Hold it, Tutter!

Harry, calm down, calm down.

Tutter, don't you think there's
something about those two words

that Harry doesn't like?

-Huh?
-W-whoa!

Wait a minute!
I just had a thought, Bear!

Maybe there's something
that Harry doesn't like

-about me saying big--
-Tutter!

Oh riiiight!

I get it now, Bear.

Whoa! Say no more.
These little lips are sealed.

Lock the gate,
throw away the key!

That's all!

[gently] Now Harry.

Why don't we calm down
and take a deep breath?

In...

[inhalation]

And out.

[exhaling] Quaaaack.

That's better.

Now Harry, instead of quacking,

why don't you use words

to tell Tutter
what's bothering you.

Using words is a great way
of letting people know

how you feel.

-Um...
-Go ahead.

-Okay Mr. Bear.
-Just Bear.

Tutter, I don't like
it when you say stuff

about me having a big beak!
Quack!

My Mom says I'll grow into it!
Quack! Quack!

It's just a phase
I'm going through!

-Quack! Quack! Quack!
-Harry, I love your beak!

I think your beak is great!

It's so nice and...

green!

It goes just great
with the rest of your face!

I didn't mean anything by it!

-I really didn't!
-Hmm.

That's okay, Tutter.

But do you think we could
play something else?

Oh sure, Harry! Sure!

That way you don't have
to be big bea-

-Tutter...
-Ah ya ya ya...

That was a close one, Bear!

[chuckles] A close one! Phew!

Anyway, Harry,
we can play something else.

I'm glad we got that worked out,

now I think I'll go

What can I do for you?

Uh...
well Bear, we have a problem.

Yeah. Could you come help
us in the bathroom please?

Well, sure. Lead the way.

Let's see what this is about.
Come on.

So what's up, guys?

Well, we were going
to play in the tub...

But we can't because...

There's no water!

I can see that.

And it's no fun playing
in an empty tub, Bear.

First of all,
you don't get wet...

There's nothing to splash...

-And worst of all...
-The tub toys don't float!

They just lay there
at the bottom.

-It's sad!
-Yeah...

Guys,
this is an easy problem to fix.

-Really?
-Yeah!

We'll just fill the tub up!

Well... that would be
the thing to do, Bear.

But uh... we ran
into another little problem.

Um, really? What?

Well, we can't fill the tub
because we can't find the...

...um... whatchamacallit.

The um... whatchamacallit?

-Mm-hmm.
-Yeah, you know!

The thing that stops
the water from uh... leaving.

Yeah.
What's the word for it again?

The uh... tub flooder?

Nuh-uh.
No-no, the water holder inner.

No-no-no. I think it's
the water stayer thingy?

Oh you know,
you put it in the drain?

And it stops the water
from going down!

-Yeah.
-Oh, know what you mean!

You mean,

-the plug!
-[gasps]

That's it! The plug!

That's the word
we were looking for!

Plug is
a word that begins with...

'P!'

Did you know that?

Bear found the plug,
let's give him a hug!

[gasps]

Hey! We rhymed!

We're poets!

And we didn't even know it!

Yeah! [gasps]

We rhymed again!

We're just a couple of otters...

Who like to play in the water...

♪ Pip and Pop in the tub ♪

♪ It's a cool kind of club ♪

♪ Where we love to scrub ♪

[chuckles] [gasps]

Well, let me just put the plug
in and I'll tum on the water.

Whoa! Whoo!

♪ So Bear plug away ♪

♪ And stop up the tub ♪

♪ And we'll get to play ♪

♪ With our little toy ♪

♪ Sub! ♪

[chuckles]

-Okay you two...
-Yeah!

So, urn, let's see...

Rhyming masters,
you two have fun.

In the... uh... sun...

-and when you're finished-

You don't have
to think of everything.

Yeah. [chuckles]

-[chuckles]

little alligator toy?

[to himself] When you're done...

eat a bun and uh...

have some fun!

That's not too bad, is it?

[chuckles]

[Shadow's laughter]

Did you hear that?

[Shadow's laughter]

That sounds like
our friend Shadow.

Maybe if we look real hard
and sing our song together,

she'll appear. Ready?

-Ooh, that sounds like fun.

Hey, I'm Peter Piper
and I'm here to pick

A peck is about eight quarts.

[chuckling] I told you

[chuckles]

[English accents] Dear,
absolutely

I'd love some more tea -
it'd be simply charming!

Delicious.

Hey, do you hear that?

Sounds like everybody's
playing upstairs.

Why don't we go up and see.
Come on.

-Yes...
-Simply charming...

[talking all together]

Hey, so what's happening?

[English accent] Oh,
nothing, much, Bear.

Just a little tea and crumpets.

I say,
isn't this tea just divine?

-Divine...
-Yeah, divine!

Yes, and these crumpets...

Maaaaaahvelous.

[chuckles]

Well, I'm glad to see
that you're having fun.

But uh, where's Harry?

Oh, he's over there, Bear.

-Hm?
-Yeah.

Oh. I see.

Gee, wonder why
Harry's playing by himself?

Let's find out.

Um... Harry?

Hm?

-Oh. Hi, Mr. Bear.
-Uh, it's just Bear.

So uh, what's going on?
Is everything okay?

Um yeah sure, I guess.

Quack!

Oh come on, Harry.

I know that quack.

You can tell me.

Well, it's just that... well.

I really want to play
tea party too...

Well, great.

Why don't you just go
and play with them?

Well, it's just that,
they're all such good friends...

I say, Ojo,
could I have just a drop

more of that Cheddar tea?

Oh! A drop?

I say,
Tutter, have the whole pot!

Maaaaaahvelous.

[laughter]

They all play
together so much...

they all laugh at
the same jokes...

why would they ever want
to play with little old me?

Oh, Harry, I'm sure they would
love for you to play with them.

Just go over and ask them.

[chattering and laughing]

I was just having a few
words with the stars.

Well, if you don't

Oh, the usual star stuff,

shining -that sort of thing.

-[chuckles]

Bear?

Well, it was great, Luna,
with lots and lots of words!

Oh really?

Yeah.

Pip and Pop did
some great rhyming.

-In fact, they're real...
-[chuckling] Rhyming masters!

That's right!

Oh! And Harry came for a visit

and found out that you should
choose your words carefully.

They really matter.

How true.

Why without words,

you and I wouldn't be able
to talk to each other

the way we do each night!

You're right, Luna!

And I wouldn't be
able to ask you to...

[chuckles]
