NARRATOR: After witnessing Paul's impressive victory at the

Oreburgh Gym, Ash waged his premiere Gym Battle in the

Sinnoh Region against Roark,

the Oreburgh Gym leader, battling with fierce tenacity as

he teamed up with his Aipom, Turtwig, and finally Pikachu.

However, the end result of our Hero's efforts was not to be the

same as Paul's, when Ash's hard fought battle against Roark

ended in a mind-boggling defeat!

BROCK: Using that coal ore for training was

a really great idea, Ash.

DAWN: Yeah, with so many different kinds of rocks around

it looks like you made the perfect choice!

ASH: Thanks! Just look at how psyched everyone is!

ASH: Now we keep training until we can do it

in our sleep and that badge is ours!

DAWN: But Ash, they aren't really the best match ups for

the Rock-types at Oreburgh Gym, if you know what I mean.

ASH: Yeah, except for Turtwig.

DAWN: Hey I know! Call your friend! The T.V. Pokémon poet.

ASH: Dawn, Professor Oak's a professor!

DAWN: That's the guy! Doesn't Professor Oak

have a whole bunch of different Pokémon?

DAWN: Just call and ask him to send you some of yours that are

strong against Rock-types! Or I could lend you Piplup.

ASH: Nope! I'm sticking with the Pokémon I have.

DAWN: But Ash... Don't you want to win?

ASH: Of course I want to win!

ASH: Look, I don't need to change Pokémon to beat Roark.

ASH: Doesn't matter who you're up against.

ASH: There's always a way to win it!

ASH: You see, we're a team and we'll stay as a team!

DAWN: But, they're just not the right type of Pokémon.

ASH: Look at Paul. He didn't have the 'right' type

of Pokémon either.

ASH: Well if he can do it, then I know I can do it too!

ASH: So guys!

Let's win it at the Oreburgh Gym, but we'll do it our way!

BROCK: I do have an idea. The perfect training

partner for what you're going to be up against!

DAWN: Wait - I don't get it.

ASH: Sudowoodo can use Rock Head!

BROCK: That's right! As we all remember Rock Head is an Ability

that makes Pokémon immune to the recoil of moves like Double Edge

and which can save you a lot of damage in the long run!

DAWN: That's the same Special Ability that Roark's Onix has!

BROCK: Exactly right! You train hard against Sudowoodo and I

guarantee you'll have some insights on how to

win at the Oreburgh Gym!

ASH: That's great Brock, thanks!

PIKACHU: [AFFIRMATIVE]

DAWN: All right!

Just watching you has gotten me totally psyched as well!

DAWN: We're going to go back to the Pokémon Center and start to

work on some new combinations I've been

thinking about for a while!

ASH: Good for you! I'm sure they'll be great!

MARIAN: Here's the site of the next Pokémon Contest!

MARIAN: That exciting event will be

It's a beautiful location that's not to be missed!

KENZO: At least none of the Pokémon were

injured during this awful ordeal.

ASSISTANT : Except. there was a Pokémon inside.

KENZO: You're right!

KENZO: We were in the process of restoring a Pokémon!

KENZO: If it completes...and then, somehow it gets loose!

JESSIE: Cheers!

JESSIE: Talk about being restored!

JAMES: So to speak!

MEOWTH: Stealing the Fossil Restorer is

going to restore our rep!

JESSIE: First we dig a hole, now we're on a roll!

JAMES: Whenever we hark back to doing what

we do best the rest is history!

MEOWTH: Okay! Let's fling fossils in there 'til it's full!

JESSIE: It's like putting money in the bank!

JAMES: We'll fill Sinnoh with ever so many

fabulous fossils it isn't even funny!

JESSIE: James, show us the first one.

JESSIE: Hold on! Finishing the fossil was your job!

MEOWTH: Hey, catchy name!

JESSIE: Well that name's our claim to fame!

MEOWTH: No Aerodactyl's going to give me the brush off!

JAMES: It's winging its way to town!

MEOWTH: Hey, hold the phone!

MEOWTH: Before we head back into that Oiban sprawl let's crank

out a few fossils to take along!

JESSIE: Say, long range!

JAMES: And they said Meowth was strange.

MEOWTH: So first off, it's time to do a little

Pokey-show prep!

ASH: Turtwig! Razor Leaf now!

TURTWIG: [RAZOR LEAF MOVE]

BROCK: Sudowoodo! Use Double-Edge!

ASH: Turtwig's moves have gotten a lot stronger,

but that's still not enough!

ASH: The Rock-type Pokémon at the Oreburgh Gym have

tons of speed and power.

ASH: I've got to figure out how to deal with that!

ASH: And just fighting back with pure power,

that's not the the answer either!

BROCK: Hey, Ash!

BROCK: Hey, how about a break?

The Pokémon are feeling kinda wiped out.

ASH: Yeah, you're right.

ROARK: You are working hard!

SUDOWOODO, TURTWIG, PIKACHU, AIPOM: [SURPRISED]

ASH: Hey, Roark!

ROARK: Rock as far as the eye can see! It is a great way for

you to get ready for another battle in my Gym!

ASH: And you can be sure we're working super hard!

ROARK: Just don't work too hard. You simply figure out a strategy

that suits you and your Pokémon as well!

ASH: Okay!But I was just thinking

about the way you fought Paul...

ROARK: Hang on a sec!

ROARK: This has been eating at me since our last battle.

Just who is it you're trying to beat anyway?

ASH: Oh that! Uh.

ROARK: Right. It's understandable that you'd be

concerned about Paul, but it's not Paul you're going to be

battling with, it's me, right?

ASH: Yeah! I hear you!

ROARK: Good. You'll be fine!

And I've got some serious digging to do!

ASH: What, now?

BROCK: Looking for fossils, right?

ROARK: Right! I've always loved ancient Pokémon, like that!

ROARK: I found that Cranidos fossil when I was just a kid and

so I had to have it restored!

- ASH: You restored it? - ROARK: Yeah, we sure did!

What an amazing thing to restore Pokémon Fossils!

ROARK: Thing is, Cranidos was the first Pokémon we used it on.

ASH: Awesome! Amazing what science can do!

ROARK: Yeah. but these fossils are more amazing.

ROARK: You see Pokémon have been changing in a process that's

been taking place for millions of years to get to this point.

ROARK: It's almost as if these fossils have come back to tell

me all about their ancient secrets.

ROARK: Yeah. fossils are as beautiful as it gets!

BUNEARY: [HAPPY]

PIPLUP: [HAPPY]

DAWN: Wow! You were great!

PIPLUP: [PLEASED]

DAWN: You nailed it perfectly.

Now don't forget any of it! One more time!

AERODACTYL: [ROAR]

PIPLUP, BUNEARY, DAWN: [SURPRISED]

AERODACTYL: [ROAR]

DAWN: What's that?

AERODACTYL: [ATTACK]

TRAINER A : Was that an Aerodactyl?

DAWN: How could that be?

POKEDEX: Aerodactyl. The Fossil Pokémon. An Ancient Flying-type,

it is equipped with sharp, saw-like teeth.

TRAINER A: But how? It couldn't have escaped

from the museum right?

DAWN: The museum?

AERODACTYL: [ROAR]

KENZO: You hear that sound?

ASSISTANT : Sure do! Aerodactyl's in a rage!

KENZO: Aerodactyl?

AERODACTYL: [ATTACK]

KENZO: Oh no! It had to come from the restored fossil!

JENNY: It's coming here!

AERODACTYL: [ROAR]

ASSISTANT : Kabutops and Armaldo are heading out!

- KENZO: Let's go! - ASSISTANT : Okay!

ARMALDO: [CURIOUS]

AERODACTYL: [ROAR]

KABUTOPS: [ATTACK]

AERODACTYL: [DODGING]

- KENZO: In the Poké Balls! - ASSISTANT : Right!

AERODACTYL: [ROAR]

IAN: The ancient Pokémon are on a rampage!

JENNY: Oreburgh citizens!

JENNY: Aerodactyl, Kabutops, and Armaldo

are scaring our citizens!

JENNY: We're now formulating a plan to capture all three of

them at the Oreburgh Mine.

JENNY: But in the meantime all citizens must evacuate at once!

DAWN: The Oreburgh Mine? That's where Ash and the others are!

ARMALDO: [THREATENING]

KABUTOPS, ARMALDO: [THREATENING]

JENNY: Not a moment too soon.

KENZO: Hey, wait! We need to find Aerodactyl!

JENNY: The search helicopter is on it now!

But we need to deal with them!

- KENZO: You're right! - ROARK: Hold on!

ROARK: You've got to let me handle this!

KENZO: It's Roark!

KABUTOPS, ARMALDO: [CONFUSED]

ROARK: Cranidos will help us!

ASH: We want to help you out too!

ROARK: Okay! I'll distract them while you look for an opening

and then you take them both down!

ASH, BROCK: Got it!

ROARK: Cranidos! Flamethrower!

BROCK: Go Sudowoodo!

- DAWN: You're welcome! - ROARK: Oh yes, them.

JESSIE: Now, let's grab Aerodactyl

and vacate the premises!

JESSIE, JAMES, MEOWTH: The old Pokémon beat us to it!

ROARK: Tough luck, losers!

ROARK: Now, we'd like our machine if you don't mind.

CRANIDOS: [THREATENING]

JESSIE: Don't mind?

MEOWTH: The nerve of that guy!

JAMES: We have no choice!

JESSIE, JAMES, MEOWTH: Run!

ROARK: Stop! Cranidos go!

CRANIDOS: [CHARGING] JAMES: Blockhead barreling down!

JESSIE: Quick Meowth! Net that rock pile!

MEOWTH: Lit, and lift off!

CRANIDOS: [STRUGGLING]

- ASH: Cranidos! - ROARK: Oh no!

MEOWTH: People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!

- JESSIE: We can. - JAMES: And we did!

CRANIDOS: [ANGRY]

ROARK: They're not going to make fools out of us!

ROARK: Are you going to let them win?

CRANIDOS: [ROAR]

PIKACHU, BUNEARY, PIPLUP: [SHOCKED]

ROARK: Cranidos...

RAMPARDOS: [ROAR]

ROARK: Cranidos evolved just now! Yes!

ROARK: Let's go Rampardos!

RAMPARDOS: [AFFIRMATIVE]

RAMPARDOS: [CHARGING]

JAMES: Stop! Down boy!

RAMPARDOS: [EXERTION]

ROARK: Great, Rampardos! Finish with Zen Headbutt!

RAMPARDOS: [EXERTION]

RAMPARDOS: [ZEN HEADBUTT MOVE]

MEOWTH: Ancient is overrated anyway!

JESSIE: No, it's not!

JESSIE: We're blasting off again!

RAMPARDOS: [PLEASED]

ASH: Amazing!

DAWN: And so powerful!

POKEDEX: Rampardos. The Head Butt Pokémon, and the evolved

form of Cranidos. Its Head Butt attack is so powerful that it

can pulverize even the sturdiest of objects with one hit.

KENZO: Thank you Rampardos!

Thanks to you we have our machine back.

RAMPARDOS: [PLEASED]

JENNY: And to you, for your brave assistance, I salute you!

BROCK: Jenny, my darling,

I salute you for your amazing charm and awesome beauty!

BROCK: While I can...

ASH: Hey, Roark! Can we please have another battle tomorrow?

I'd love to go up against your Rampardos!

ROARK: Oh? Have you thought of what strategy to use?

ASH: Yeah!

ROARK: Okay! Then you can have the honor of

being Rampardos' premiere opponent!

RAMPARDOS: [PLEASED]

ASH: Really? Whoa, thanks!

PIKACHU: [EXCITED] ASH: Dawn!

Do you think you could help me train a little bit?

DAWN: Sure! It'll be good training for me as well!

ASH: Thanks, that's great!

After all that I know I'm going to get that badge!

PIKACHU: [AGREEING]

ROARK: All right, you just give it all you've got!

NARRATOR: And so, a fierce battle with an Aerodactyl
