DIRT, I LOVE YOU SO!

Oh, hi! You're just in time.

I was wondering when you were
going to get here! Come on in!

I'm so glad you could come!

I'm just about to plant
this little apple tree!

Now,

[sniffing]

Hey, what's that smell?

[sniffing]

[sniffing]

[gasps] It's you!

[sniffing]

Oh! You smell so good.

Tell me. Did you just
roll around in the grass?

Or do you smell this good
all the time?

Yes, I was just about to plant
this little apple tree...

-Hi, Bear!
-Hi, Treelo!

[giggles]

Look, Bear, tree!
Tree! Poor tree!

No, no, Treelo. It's okay,
Treelo, it's just a little tree.

But, Bear, no bottom...
no bottom.

That's okay, I was just
about to plant it,

out by the otter pond.

Plant the tree?
Tree gonna be okay?

Yes, ‘cause if I plant it,
it will grow.

[laughing]

Trees grow!

-Treelo loves trees.
-Yeah, Treelo loves trees.

Hey Treelo, I have an idea.

Would you like
to help me plant it?

Really? Treelo help plant
a tree?

Can I, can I, can I please?

Sure you can! Let's go
out to the Otter Pond!

-To the Otter Pond! Okay!
-To the Otter Pond!

Oh, you can come, too.

[upbeat music]

Uh! Here we are...

[laughing]

-The Otter Pond!
-Yes, the Otter Pond.

And our hole
for our little tree!

Oooooh. Look, a hole.

[screaming]

Treelo! I'm not really a pirate.
Don't be scared,

it's just me! Ojo!

-Hey, it's Ojo! Hi, Ojo!
-Hey, Bear.

Ojo, what are you doing
in the hole I dug for my tree?

Hole? No, no, no,
no, no, no, Bear!

I'm Ojo, the fuzzy pirate,

and I'm looking
for buried treasure!

And this,
this is my treasure hole!

Oh, I see. Ojo's playing
pretend again.

Hey, Treelo!
You wanna play pirates with me?

You can be a cotton swabbie.

Yeah! Pirates!

[laughing]

Pretend buried treasures
can be a lot of fun.

So, what kinds of stuff are
you pirates finding down there?

-Lots and lots of stuff, Bear.
-Really? Like what?

Well, like diamonds,
rubies and gold...

Diamonds, rubies and gold!

Yeah... and, um, lollipops,
there's some cookies,

hot dogs and baloney!

-Baloney, where Baloney?
-Right there.

[laughing]

Sounds more like a grocery
store than a treasure hole.

We can pretend to find
whatever we want!

That's what's great about
pretend treasures...

they can be anything!

Come on, Treelo!
Let's dig some more holes

and find more treasure!

Dirt! Treelo love dirt!

-Bye-bye, Bear!
-Bye-bye, Bear!

[laughing]

[sighs]

Isn't dirt great!?

DIRT

Dirt. Hey!

You want to know
a little secret about dirt?

Great things come from dirt.

It's true.
Like flowers like dirt...

And the vegetables you eat,

like corn and tomatoes,
they like dirt!

Oh! And pigs! Pigs love dirt!

[pigs grunt]

But here's another secret.
Bears love dirt!

I love you dirt ♪

♪ When it comes
to getting dirty, surely ♪

♪ I'm the world's expert ♪

♪ But when I'm dirty,
turn the hose on me and squirt ♪

♪ Squirt away the dirt ♪

clean myself from end to end ♪

♪ From my head to my toes ♪

♪ When it comes to getting clean
I'm a washing machine and when ♪

♪ When I'm all clean
and fresh as a Daisy? ♪

♪ I'll jump into the wettest,
muddiest puddle and then ♪

♪ I'll get dirty again ♪

♪ And now some magic...
I take water, I take dirt, ♪

♪ Mix 'em together and
what have I got? ♪

♪ Mud, mud, mud
is my favorite stuff ♪

♪ When it comes to getting
muddy, buddy... ♪

♪ It's what I love ♪

♪ But when I'm one big,
giant mud pie... Well enough! ♪

♪ Then it's time to wash off ♪

♪ Flop, flip,
I went in for a dip ♪

♪ Fun, fun to get dirty
then cleaned up too ♪

♪ Jumping into puddles and
baths, I love to do ♪

♪ Back and forth
like a big old kangaroo♪

♪ Hey, how about you? ♪

♪ Wanna join me? Come on in,
there's room for everyone♪

♪ Hey, anybody wanna buy
a mud pie around here? ♪

Oh! I love dirt.

Yeah! There is so much
to love about dirt.

But, you probably know
about dirt more than I do.

What do you think?

What kinds of things
do you like to do with dirt?

I like to shovel dirt.

Put it in the water
and I make mud pies.

Twirly, twirly all around and
wets the whole place with mud.

Your mother she um complains
about how dirty you are.

I hate mud on my hair!

And she says, 'You need a bath.'

Without dirt we wouldn't
have any grass or plants.

And lots of bugs
and lots of rocks.

Can't help it, I love dirt.

Wow! You guys know a lot
of great stuff to do with dirt!

Now, let's see I think
I'll need a shovel.

Maybe in the kitchen. Come on!

Now, let's see...
It's not up here...

- Ah! There it is!
-TUTTER: Hickory Dickory!

-Tutter?
-Great Gouda!

It never ends. Never,
never, never!

It's Tutter.

All this dirt!
All this dirty, dirt!

Dirty, dirty dirt, dirt, dirt!

-Hi, Bear.
-Hi, Tutter.

As a matter of fact we were
just talking about dirt,

and how great it is.

Great? Dirt? Great?
Brie, Bear! Brie!

You're kidding me, Bear!
You've got to be kidding.

Well, actually no I wasn't...

But don't you see, Bear?
You're so big, so big,

that dirt for you is just
a speck, just a little speck.

But a little speck of dirt
for a little mouse

is like a giant rock!

A boulder!

[sighs]

Gee, I never thought
of it that way! Have you?

Well, Tutter, tell us how do
you feel about the dirt!

Okay, Bear! I will, I will!

♪ I see some dirt and it's
on my floor I sweep it up, ♪

♪ But look, there's
more and more and more! ♪

♪ Whoa, that sneaky dirt it
likes to spread itself around ♪

♪ Why can't the dirt
just get outta town? ♪

♪ Yeah, I've seen dust balls ♪

♪ -The size of my head

♪ Sometimes I give 'em names
like Shirley, Frank or Fred ♪

♪ My kitchen gets so grimy makes
me gripe, and grunt and groan ♪

♪ Why can't the dirt
just leave me alone? ♪

♪ Cleaner! ♪

♪ Oh, I wish the world
were cleaner ♪

♪ Cleaner! ♪

♪ Now, is that too
much to ask? ♪

♪ Give me a magic broom and
I'll sweep all the dirt away ♪

♪ But till that day... ♪

♪ -Oh, why can't the dirt!
-Oh why can't the dirt ♪

Wow, Tutter, I see your point.

It ain't easy bein' a mouse,
it ain't easy!

Well, Tutter, the next time
I sweep the kitchen floor,

I make sure that no dirt
goes into your mouse hole.

Yeah, that's nice, Bear!

Oh! [giggles]

I guess mice don't like dirt
as much as bears.

'Well, I have my shovel and...

I haven't seen today?

Hey, you big ol' furry fella!

It's nice to see you.

So, what have you been
doing today?

Well, Bear, I've been
helping the spiders build

a web in the corners
of the attic.

Ooo, that sounds like fun.

It was, and so beautiful, too!

Well, Shadow, you wouldn't
happen to have a story

for us today, would you?

Why certainly, Bear! I always
have a story for my friends.

Now let me see
what I can fancy! Just watch.

Ι sure love farming. Yeah!

What a nice story,
And what a great farm.

Although, I've never seen a farm
with so many unusual creatures.

Oh! Farms are great
places to visit, Bear.

You never know what
you'll find on them.

And farmers are such a good
bunch, they're always friendly

and always have
such good food to eat.

Yeah. It would be nice to visit
a farm one day, wouldn't it?

Yeah! Well, Bear,
it's time for me to fly.

But when you need another story-
just try and catch me!

Oh!

Well, my trusty little
shovel reminds me

that now I can plant
my apple tree

out by the Otter Pond. C'mon!

PIP: Wow! Look at
the size of that thing.

POP: I've never seen
anything like it.

-It's big!
-It's big!

-It's really big...
-Really big!

Hey, Pip. Hey Pop,
what are you two looking at?

Our bug!

BEAR: Oh! Bug!

-Sometimes bugs live in dirt.
-Touch it.

I'm not gonna touch it.
You touch it.

No way!

Bear, you touch it!

Okay, okay.
Come here, little bug.

[screaming]

Come on, you two.
Bugs are not to be afraid of.

They're animals, just like us!

-I don't look like that.
-Yeah, that thing's ugly.

He probably thinks
you're pretty scary, too.

Us?

Sure. Just think how
you must look to a bug.

Yeah. We must look...

Big!

-What's big, Mateys?
-Yeah, what's big, Mateys?

This bug!

Bug? Bug ye say? It isn't...

[screams]

Thar she glows!

That's not just any bug,
cotton swabbies!

That's... Moby bug!

Moby Bug?

Yeah, that's right!
The meanest, biggest bug

this side of the
Bermuda Rectangle!

Yeah, but Bear said bugs
weren't bad!

Fellas, I think Ojo is just
pretending.

PIP AND POP: Oh!

Pretending...

Yeah, and I'll wager
he's here to steal our treasure,

Cap'n Treelo!

-No.
-Okay.

I think it's time to let
this little bug go.

Look! He's leaving.

Run, run,
you six-legged cotton swabbie!

I'll find you again, someday.

Or the name isn't Ojo,
the fuzzy pirate!

Bye-bye, bug!

-Bye, bug!
-Bye, bug!

Bye, bug!

Wow. That was a really great
pirate adventure, wasn't it,

Cap'n Treelo?

Yeah. Good adventure.

[laughing]

Well, what are you doing, Bear?

Well, I was just about
to plant my apple tree.

Hey, do you all want to help?

ALL: Sure!

If you're through playing
with the hole, that is.

Well, yeah. I think we're
done. What do you guys think?

-Yeah.
-[Treelo mumbles]

Now, I'll put our little tree
into the hole!

-A little to the left, Bear...
-A little to the right!

There!

Wow. Beautiful tree!

Yeah,
it is a beautiful tree, Treelo,

thanks for helping.
You too, Ojo, Pip, Pop.

What do we do next,
Bear? Yeah, what do we do?

Do we just sit and
watch it grow?

Well that would take too long.

Actually we just let the sun
and the rain do the rest!

For the tree. As for us...

I think we look a little dirty.

Dirty? Us?

Yep, you know what
that means, don't you?

It's bath time!

Okay everyone, to the bathroom!
Everybody in the tub!

♪ Rub a dub dub everybody
in the tub ♪

♪ The water's gonna get all
the grit and grime and grub ♪

♪ All rub a dub dub
It's our favorite club ♪

♪ The water's nice and wet
everybody in the tub ♪

♪ Let's give the rubber duck
a bubble bath beard ♪

♪ Doesn't my washcloth
hat look weird? ♪

♪ -Got a little toy sub
-And everything in the tub ♪

♪ Rub a dub dub,
everybody in the tub ♪

♪ We're soaping and
soaking and floating away ♪

♪ -We're laughing
-And splashing ♪

♪ And bathing all day ♪

♪ At home in the foam and
the suds and the spray ♪

♪ Rub a dub dub,
everybody in the tub ♪

everybody in the tub ♪

it's time for a scrub ♪

♪ -For two otters
-And a mouse ♪

♪ -A bear

-And watch the faucet run ♪

I feel when I'm done ♪

♪ There's nothing much better
for good clean fun than ♪

all clean and fluffy.

Arrgh thanks Captain Bear! Yeah,
thanks for drying off my fur.

You're welcome, Ojo.

You know Bear, I really
love playing in the dirt.

Yeah, me too.

I think everybody does,
don't you?

Yeah. But I was wondering...

if dirt is so great... why do
we always have to wash it off?

Ooh, good question, Ojo.

I mean, if dirt can make
an apple tree grow,

and it's fun to play in,
then why don't little bears

just roll around in the dirt

and stay dirty all the time?

Well dirt is great,
but I don't think...

Hey Bear, I have a great idea!

Do you think if I don't take
a bath for a really long time,

maybe some neat stuff
would grow on me?

Well, I'm not sure that...

Yeah! I could plant
potatoes in my ears...

Or corn between your toes?

Yeah, and I'd have a little
tree growing right out

of the top of my head! Yeah!

Well that would be
something to see.

But, Ojo, if you stayed dirty
then you'd never have

fun in the bathtub.

You're right, Bear!
I never thought about that!

And if you never took a bath,
you'd never get clean

and you know what?

What, Bear, what?

If you never got clean...

then you wouldn't have the fun
of getting dirty all over again!

Hey, Bear, you're right!
You're right!

If I were dirty all the time,
then how would I even know

I was getting dirty?

You go it, Ojo!

Hey you know what, this bath
idea is pretty great, isn't it?

You sure we got
everything all clean?

Yeah, pretty sure.

‘Cause Bear, I want to be sure

that I'm all nice
and clean so that tomorrow...

tomorrow I can get it
all dirty again! Yeah,

or my name isn't
Ojo the Fuzzy Pirate!

-Hu-hu!
-Arrrgg!

[laughing]

Aha, there she is.

There's Luna.

Hello, Bear.

I was just getting ready
to cast my glow across the sky.

And how was your day
in the Big Blue House?

We had fun with dirt,
all day long.

Oh!

Dirt, it's one of the great
things about the earth.

Yeah, I dag a big hole to plant
an apple tree in, but...

Everyone had ideas on their own.

Well, a hole in the dirt
can be mighty tempting

for little bears.

Yep, Ojo played "bury treasure".

[laughing]

And Pip and Pop?

They found a big old bug.

Oh...

And what about
our little friend Tutter?

Well, he had a different way
of looking at dirt.

Oh?

See, a little piece of dirt
can be too much dirt

for a mouse.

I know what you mean.

Well, Bear, did you
finally get to plant

your little apple tree?

Well, yes, Luna,
and Treelo was so happy

because there's a new tree
by the Otter Pond.

Uh...
Can you see it from up there?

Uh! Yes, Bear.

What a pretty little tree.

I'm sure it will grow
into a big, tall, apple tree.

And give shade and fruits
for all your friends

for many years to come.

Uh... That would be wonderful.

[giggles]

Well, it's time for me
to get back up into the sky.

You know the night can be
pretty dark without me.

True, true.

Hey, Luna, would you like
to join me in a goodbye song,

before you go?

I'd be delighted, Bear.
I'd be delighted.

-We hope you liked it, too ♪
