[ Wind Whistling ]

[ Man ]
Viewer beware.

You're in for a scare.

Goosebumps.

Come on, open it.

- [ Door Creaking ]
- [ Electronic Beeping ]

If we increase the cathode charge

we might get
a cleaner morphic image.

The image is fine, Norman.

It's a molecule detection light,
not a video camera.

I don't think this
is such a good idea.

Oh, come on,
when your parents are working,

the house could fall down
and they wouldn't notice.

Come on.

- [ Dog Barking ]
- [ Owl Hooting ]

Boy, I never knew
hedges could get this big.

Why do you think
they call it Hedge House?

Look, there's probably
no ghost in there anyways,

so what's the point of going in?

The legend says there is a ghost
and we are going in.

- [ Groans ]
- Come on.

[ Door Creaking ]

[ Door Closing ]

Come on, l-let's go.

Ah, no term project's worth this.

If we get the ghost on tape you can
forget about the lousy term project.

We'll be world famous.

What do you think? A ghost is just
gonna walk up and pose for you?

Listen, I'm not asking you
to do too much, here, OK.

Just stand there
and keep your eyes open.

Trust me, they're wide open.

Now, just sh**t some video
and let's go.

- Roxanne, come on.
- [ Sqeaking ]

- [ Voice Giggling ]
- Roxanne.

[ Gasps ]

[ Roxanne ]
Come on.

- [ Banging ]
- [ Both Gasping ]

- W-what's that?
- I don't know.

[ Squeaking ]

[ Roxanne ]
Must be some kind of breeze action.

[ Roxanne ]
Let's get a closer look.

- No way.
- Come on.

Are-- are you crazy?

You're right, I almost forgot.

Get this on tape.

It's-- it's a note.

A-- a note?

[ Roxanne ]
"I'm ready for my close-up."

- [ Whimpering ] I'm outta here.
- [ Loud Banging ]

The ghost is in that room.

- That's nice. I'm leaving.
- We're going in.

[ Gasping ]
Ro-Rox, please.

[ Door Creaking ]

[ Roxanne ]
Come on, look at this.

- [ Sam ] It's just a chair.
- [ Chair Wheels Squeaking ]

"Boo!"
Is this suppose to scare us?

[ Gasps ]

- [ Laughing ]
- [ Screaming ]

[ Sighs ] Sam, what's wrong?
What's your problem?

- Didn't you see it?
- Yeah, I saw it.

Y-you see a note
and you start screaming.

I-- I'm not talking about the note.

I-- I'm talking about the face.

- The horrible clown face.
- [ Snickering ] Oh.

Ok, you-- you mean this.

Get that thing away from me.

It's a rubber mask, Sam.

You scare way too easy.

It was floating in the air like
something invisible was wearing it.

Then why didn't you get it on tape?

We're just gonna have to go
back in there again, you know.

I am never, never, going back
into that house again.

Then you shouldn't have teamed up
with me for this term project.

I was the one who wanted to do it
on photosynthesis, remember?

Well, you're stuck with it now.

Listen, I got to get going.

See you later.

- [ Wind Howling ]
- [ Dog Barking ]

- [ Clock Ticking ]
- [ Crickets Chirping ]

- [ Bang ]
- [ Gasps ]

Mom? Dad?

[ Window Shutters Banging ]

[ Sam Gasping ]

- [ Rocking Chair Creaking ]
- [ Gasping ]

[ Gulps ]

[ Footsteps Clomping ]

- [ Gulps ]
- [ Door Banging ]

- [ Electronic Humming ]
- Mom? Dad?

- What are you doing here?
- I-- I heard noises.

Have you been working here for long?

I've been working down here
all night. [ Sighs ]

Sam, you know
your not allowed down here.

Now, it's late. Go to bed.

H-hey, Dad, did you leave
the window in the kitchen open?

Yes, I did.
It's stuffy in this house.

- That's good.
- Are you OK?

Yeah, I'm fine.

Don't touch that!

W-what is it?

It's a secret,
I can't talk about it.

It looks like some kind of light.
What does it do?

[ Sighs ] It's for seeing things
that are hard to see.

Look, I've told you more than
I should already. Go to bed.

[ Gasps ]

- [ Roxanne ] Hello.
- R-Rox, it-- it's me.

I-- I think something
followed me from hedge house.

- [ Bell Ringing ]
- Sam, ghosts don't follow people home.

How do you know?

Do have some sort of haunted
handbook or something?

- What did your parents say?
- Are you kidding?

I can't tell my parents.

I'm not even supposed
to be at Hedge House.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

You look really tired.
You should try and get some sleep.

I'm never going to be
able to sleep again.

[ Thunder Rumbling ]

[ Snoring ]

[ TV Chatter ]

- [ Banging ]
- [ Thunderclap ]

[ Gasps ]

[ Thunderclap ]

Mom? Dad?

Mom? D-Dad?

[ Heavy Breathing ]

- Mom? Dad?
- [ Thunderclap ]

[ Gasps ]

- [ Crashing ]
- [ Wind Blowing ]

[ Heavy Breathing ]

[ Slams Door ]

[ Thunder Rumbling Continues ]

[ Rattling ]

[ Gasping ]

[ Buzzing ]

[ Gulps ]

[ Laughing ]

[ Screaming ]

- [ Gasping ]
- [ Clock Ticking ]

Huh?

[ Voice ]
Hey, I was playing with that.

[ Footsteps Clomping ]

[ Gasping ]

- Who-who said that?
- I did.

- Wha-what do you want?
- That depends.

Are-- are-- are-- are you a ghost?

Yes, I'm the ghost of Hedge House.

- [ Thudding ]
- P-please don't k*ll me.

Hmm. I've never thought
about k*lling you.

Forget-forget I said it.

You know, Sam,
it might be kind of cool,

to hang out with me for while.

It was dead around Hedge House.

Not bad, dead.

[ Gasps ]
Yeah, dead.

[ Chuckles ]
You're funny.

I'm glad you like my sense of humor.

Maybe we could be friends.

Friends with a-- a ghost?

If you wanna be my friend then, uh,
why did you trash my room?

It's a ghost thing.

Hey, good hands.

Thanks, but I don't think it's such
a good idea that we hang out.

Aw, come on, Sam.

It'll be fun. How many kids can say
they have a ghost for a friend?

[ Sam ]
OK, pay attention.

OK, when I say go,
you start to juggle.

- OK, whatever.
- OK.

You can come in now.

Don't get me wrong, I can't wait
to meet your little ghost friend.

Well, uh,
what's his name again?

Bobby or Billy or Bryan
or something?

- Brent.
- Brent, right, well, of course,

because they're so many ghosts
that are named Brent.

Ready to eat your words?

The floor is yours.

Ok, Brent,

go.

[ Sighs ]

Go.

G-go.

I said go.

Aw, come on, Brent.

Very cute.
I came all the way over here for this.

I'm telling you, the ghost
of Hedge House followed me here.

Mmm-hmm. Nice try, Sam.

I can't believe how far you'll go
to get out of going back there.

We don't need to go back there.
He's right here.

Obviously.

Listen, Sam, the next time you
get a great idea for a rainy day,

do me a favor and call
someone who cares.

Look.

I've got things to do, Sam.
[ Sighs ]

Rox. [ Sighs ]

What were you doing?
Why didn't you listen to me?

You made me look like a jerk.

What's wrong,
can't you take a yoke?

Get it yoke?
[ Laughs ]

[ Whispering ]
I-- I swear, Rox.

The moment you left,
he started talking.

In fact, he wouldn't shut up.

Would you shut up?
You're gonna get us in trouble.

I'm telling you, Rox.
The ghost is living in my...

[ Teacher ]
Sam Jacobs.

Apparently, your an expert
in the art of converting fractions.

[ Students Laughing ]

[ Gasps ]

Stop fighting me,
I'll get you out of this.

Let go.

I don't need your help.

[ Gasps ]

[ Chuckles ]

Very impressive, Sam.
You managed to get them all wrong.

[ Students Laughing ]

It-- it wasn't me,
it was a-- a ghost.

[ Students Laughing ]

Take your seat, Sam.

Sorry,
I was never any good at math.

- Hey.
- [ Cash Register Beeping ]

Thank you.

- [ Laughing ]
- [ Laughing ]

Oops, sorry Sam,
it wasn't me, it was a ghost.

[ Laughing ]

N-no.

No.

No!

[ Groans ]

What was I supposed to do?
The guy was picking on you.

You weren't supposed to do anything.

What kind of friend would I be
if I let him get away with that?

- You're not my friend.
- What are you saying, Sam?

I'm saying
you're not my friend.

You're my worst nightmare.

I want you out of my house
and out of my life.

Your exactly right Sam,
I'm not your friend.

I've never been your friend.

I'm your worst nightmare.

You know what tonight is.

I'm never going back
to that house again, never.

[ Whistling ]

[ Roxanne ]
Never, huh?

Oh, what was that?

- [ Both Gasping ]
- We-- we should get outta here.

Sam, this place really is haunted.

- Right, so let's get outta here.
- Shh!

Are you kidding?

It's got to be in one of these rooms.
Sam, you get the next door.

Or do I have to drag you?

[ Whispering ]
Come on.

[ Roxanne ]
Looks like somebody lives here.

I-- I don't get it. What would
a ghost do with all this stuff?

- [ Gasps ]
- [ Roxanne Screams ]

There will be no video or flash
photography on this ride.

- [ Both Gasping ]
- Roxy, say hello to Brent.

Hello. Goodbye.

[ Screaming ]

I-- I-- I think I will be going too, now.

[ Laughing Maniacally ]

I'm right behind you.

[ Gasping ]
Leave me alone.

You can't keep me out.

You've caused me enough trouble.
Cut it out, leave me alone.

[ Groans ]

- [ Footsteps Running ]
- Sam, what's going on?

What are you doing?

It's in the house,
the ghost is in the house.

- [ Footsteps Pattering ]
- [ Door Shuts ]

I knew there were some out there.
I just never thought they would come here.

We better do something about it.
This could traumatize Sam.

[ Grunting ]
Why are you breaking so much?

What do want from me?

If you want to be my friend, why
are you causing me so much trouble?

Who are you kidding, Sam?
We could never be friends.

Stay where you are, Sam.

Be careful Dad,
I'm telling you there's a ghost.

- Believe me, son, this is no ghost.
- [ Electronic Beeping ]

[ Beeps Accelerating ]

What is it?
Some kind of monster?

- Please don't hurt me.
- Brent?

It's a human, Sam.

Human? I thought there
weren't any more humans.

That's right, Sam.
They were all sent

to the space colonies
when we landed here 2 years ago.

Almost all of them.

Some clever ones escaped
and stayed behind.

So, uh...

You really weren't a ghost.

My parents did it. They said
I might be able to survive

if no one could see me.

Now I understand
why you're so angry.

- Why did you take over our planet?
- It's all right, Brent.

We're not gonna hurt you.

Of course, not. We didn't agree with
what was done to the other humans.

We didn't want to send them away.

No, leave me alone.

You built those detector lights
to find humans like me.

[ Gasps ]

We did it, to help you, Brent.

To save you from the others.

We won't hurt you, Brent.
We promise.
