Evergreen Mountain?!

That could be dangerous.

Melissa Raccoon: Something
spooky is going on up here!

Bert Raccoon: Ah, help!

Eeeaaaaaah!

Melissa: Oh no!

Narrator: This is
the Evergreen forest.

Quiet, peaceful, serene.

That is, until Bert Raccoon
wakes up.

Bert Raccoon: Yahoooo!

♪♪

Yeeeehaaaa!

Yikes!

Yaaaah...
[bam!]

[laughs]
[smash!]

Yeaaaah!

Narrator: Luckily, he has some
good friends to help him out.

Broo: [panting]

Narrator: Life would be simple
in the forest except for...

And his life would be simple
except for...

the Raccoons!!

Just beyond the horizon,

in the heart of the
Evergreen forest,

loom the towering slopes
of a mountain.

A mountain whose summit is
often obscured by clouds

and shrouded in mystery.

The mystery of an old
Evergreen Forest legend.

Ranger Dan: It's getting late
kids, I better be getting home.

Are you all set
to spend your first night

in the forest alone?

Tommy: Sure Dad,
after all,

we do have Schaeffer
to protect us.

Schaeffer: Ruff-ruff!
Tommy: Yeah!

Julie: And Broo too!

Dan: You certainly
are in good hands.

Are you sure you don't need
anything before I go?

Julie/Tommy: Uh-oh!

Dan: OK then, sleep tight
and don't let the Grim bite!

Tommy: The Grim, Dad?!

Julie: What's a Grim?!

Dan: The Grim is the guardian
of the Evergreen Mountain.

Tommy: Our Evergreen
Mountain, Dad?

Dan: Uh-hm!

According to legend,
which is as old as the hills

and which every creature
in the forest knows,

Evergreen Mountain is
guarded by a huge creature,

called the Grim,

who prowls the mountain,

protecting a dark, dark secret.

Tommy/Julie: Oooh!

Dan: Luckily, he doesn't come
down from the Mountain,

because he has his hands full

keeping everyone
away from the top.

And right now you two
have your hands full

spending a night
alone in the forest.

Good night, kids!

Julie: Good night, dad!
Tommy: Good night, dad.

were enjoying

a quiet, romantic bicycle ride.

Hey, Ralph!

Alaska!

Hey, wait for me!
Wait up!

Melissa: Bert, what is that?!

Bert: Oh, it's a little
something I threw together.

Now, not only can
we eat together,

work together and
rest together,

we can play together too.
[chuckles]

After all, I wouldn't want
you guys to get lonely.

Home, Jameses!

Uaah!

♪ [upbeat music]

[bam!]
Ralph: Uh-oh!

Yayiiiks!

Uaaaaaah

[splash!]

Ralph: Bert?
[ribbit-ribbit]

Are you all right, Bert?

Bert: Of course
I'm all right, Ralph.

[nervous laughter]
Just taking a solo ride.

Melissa: You know Bert, I think
we should have a little talk.

Bert: Talk?! Ah, let's ride!

Ralph: What Melissa wants to
talk about, Bert,

is our private time,

Bert: Our private time?!

Ralph, I love our private time.

What, I even love
our private time,

when Melissa is with us too.

Melissa: Oh, I mean
our private time.

Bert: Ooh!

Melissa: Well, you said it
yourself, Bert.

We eat together.

We work together.

We do everything together.

You're never on your own.

Why...if I didn't
know better, I'd think,

you're afraid to be by yourself.

Bert: Afraid?! Me??

Bert Raccoon?
Ha, afraid to be alone.

Why, I'm not
afraid of anything.

I even go to sleep
without a night light!

And let me tell
you something else.

I don't need anybody!

I can do just fine
by myself, thank you!

I was just doing
you guys a favor,

because I thought,
you needed the company.

Melissa: Oh Bert,
I didn't mean it that way.

Bert: I think I know,
pretty well how you meant it.

And I think I know when my
'friends' don't want me around.

Ralph: Come on, Bert!
Let's be sensible.

Bert: Ralph and
Melissa will see!

They'll be sorry!

I'll do something,
that'll show them.

I'll do something really
big and important!

Something...something only I,

Bert Raccoon could possibly do!

Hey...ooh...but what?

That's it!

I'll climb Evergreen Mountain!

Ha ha! Oh! Talk about

relying on oneself, eh?

[laughs]

Now let's see.

I'm going to need
some food, packsack,


a poor sherpa guide,

a color TV..

[bonk!]

Sophia Tutu: Oh dear!
Are you two all right?

Bert: Yeah, I'm fine!

Cedric: I'm OK.

Sophia: Where are you going
in such a hurry, Bert?

Bert: I'm going to get some
mountain climbing equipment.

Sophia: Mountain
climbing equipment?!

Bert: You know...um,
ropes and crampons,

escalators..

Important stuff!

Sophia: Whatever for?!

Bert: To climb
Evergreen Mountain!

Cedric: Climb
Evergreen Mountain?!

That could be dangerous.

And it's haunted by the...

Bert: Naah, you don't believe
dumb, old superstition, do ya'?

Hah! It'll take more then
that to stop Bert Raccoon.

Cedric: Where are you going to
get all the equipment?

Bert: Hah! No problem.

I'll just, um...

Oh yeah! I, I hadn't
thought about that.

Sophia: Cedric, doesn't your
father have some equipment?

Cedric: Pop was into
climbing a few years back,

which is weird, because he's
never been the athletic type.

Sophia: Gosh Cedric, you could
ask him to help Bert out.

Cedric: Ask Pop...
to help someone out?

I'd rather climb the mountain.

I wish I hadn't promised
Sophia I'd do this.

Cyril: Now, get out!
The Pigs: Ouch-ouch-ouch!

Cyril: And stay out!

Cedric: Uhm, Pop doesn't
sound too happy today.

Pig 1: Because dividend
checks are late.

Pig 2: It was the wrong day
to ask for a raise.

Pig 3: He can't take a joke.

Cedric: [nervous laugh]
Hi, Pop!

Cyril: Make it quick, Cedric!
Time is money!

Cerdic: OK, Pop,
well you know the...

Cyril: The what, Cedric?!

Cedric: The mountain
climbing gear you have?

I was wondering if I
could borrow it...Pop?

[nervous laugh]

Cyril: Why would you
want my equipment?

Cedric: Well, it's not really
for me. It's for Bert.

He wants to climb the
Evergreen Mountain.

Cyril: What?!?

Cedric, my boy...

that mountain is guarded by...
the Grim.

No one should go near
it!

It's dangerous!

Cedric: I know, Pop,
but he's not afraid.

And he seems
determined to do it,

so maybe you can help him?

Cyril: Help him?! Help?

That word is the
bane of my existence!

Listen Cedric, if you
can't make it on your own,

then you can't make it!

And that's the way you've got to
make it in this world, Cedric!

Alone!! It's about time
that you learn this lesson.

Cedric: Sure, Pop!

Snag: [grunts]

Cyril: Blast that
meddling raccoon!

Anyone ever finds out what's
on top of that mountain,

I'll be ruined!

If only I knew then what
I was getting myself into.

♪ [smooth jazz]

Samaritan: [gasping for breath]

Cyril Sneer...
Cyril: Yes, uncle Sammy?

Samaritan: I know the kind of
aardvark you are, Cyril.

I see a love of
money and mischief

that will eventually
consume you.

Cyril: Do you, really?

Samaritan: So you
must promise me, Cyril,

that you'll always protect
and never destroy it!

Cyril: Well...Eh...

Samaritan: Promise me!

[coughs]

Cedric: My word's good as gold!

It's a promise
I wish I'd never made.

I want you overpaid porkers

in here on the double!

And bring me my climbing gear!

We're going on an expedition.

The Pigs: Yes, Sir!
Yes, sir. Yes, Sir!

Cyril: I've kept everyone away

from the top of Evergreen
Mountain for 20 years

with my stories about the Grim.

And now some pea-brained fur
ball is trying to destroy me!

He must be stopped!!

♪♪

Cedric: ...and Pop
wouldn't lend it.

So I guess you won't
be able to do it, Bert?

Bert: Not do it?!

I can't let a little
set back like this stop me.

So, what if I don't
have all the equipment?

I've got me and all
the supplies I need!

Cedric: What supplies?

You don't even have a pack.

Bert: Sure I do!

I have 20 packs...

of big blow bubble gum,

Sophia: But it's such
a long journey, Burt.

Bert: That's all right.

Each pack is good
for a thousand chews,

so I won't run out.

And remember the old proverb,

'Every great journey
starts with one step.'

[bam!]

Melissa: Ralph?
♪♪

Ralph: Yes, Melissa?

Melissa: I think I may have been
a little hard on Bert.

After all, he's our best friend.

Ralph: Yeah...

How about we go
find him and apologize?

Sophia: Hi, Melissa. Hi, Ralph!

Ralph: Hi.

Say, if you two
seen Burt recently?

Cedric: He just went
by here a while ago...

Melissa: Good!

Cedric: ...to climb
Evergreen Mountain.

Melissa/Ralph: What?!

Sophia: He said
he wanted to do something

big and important...by himself.

Melissa: Oh no! That
mountain is dangerous!

And the Grim!!
Ralph: We've got to stop him.

Sophia: It'll be
getting dark soon.

Cedric: I'd love to help,
but my dad put a curfew on me.

Melissa: Let's hurry, Ralph!

Ralph: We'll have to
follow on foot from here.

a little fur fly!

The Pigs: [laughing]

[rumbling sound]

Melissa: Oh no!!

Bert: Uh-oh!

Sounds like thunder.

Cyril: I built this stuff into
the mountain 20 years ago,

and it still works!

[rumbling]

[boing!]

♪ [suspenseful music]

The Pig: Unfortunately,
Sir, but..

The Pig 3:
...that tree wasn't there...

...20 years ago!!

[whistling sound]

[crash!]

[little birdies tweeting]

Bert: Hmmm?

Ralph: That was close!

Too close!

Melissa: And I don't think
that was an accident.

Something spooky
is going on up here.

Ralph: Melissa, we're
going to need some help.

Melissa: I'll go get Schaeffer.

You stay and try to catch Bert.

Ralph: All right. But hurry!

♪ [gentle music]

♪ [dramatic music]

The Pigs: [squealing]

[boing!]

[boing-boing!]

[boing!]

♪♪

Snag: [wheezes]



[boing!]

[rumbling]

♪ [dramatic music]

Cyril: You're
history now, Raccoon!

[rumbling]

[screams]

You crossed-eyed oinker's!

I want that raccoon stopped!

You read me?!
The Pigs: Yes, Sir! Yes, Sir!

Ralph: What's keeping
Melissa and Schaeffer?



Melissa: Schaeffer?

Schaeffer?

We need your help!

Schaeffer: Melissa,
what's wrong?

Melissa: It's Bert.

He's gone off to climb
Evergreen Mountain.

Schaeffer: Bert?
Evergreen Mountain?!

But that's dangerous and
the stories about the Grim!

Melissa: Come on,
you've got to help us.

Schaeffer: This is serious!

Broo, our good friend
Bert is in danger.

I'm going to have to
go and try to help.

And that means, you've got to
guard the tent on your own.

OK, little guy?

I'm sure Tommy and Julie
are in good hands with you.

Melissa: You're a brave
little puppy, Broo.

Broo: Woof-woof!



♪ [dramatic

♪ [dramatic music]

[clunking sound]

♪♪

Cyril: Stop him!!

We can't let him
cross that bridge!

Melissa: We're almost there.

[panting]
I hope we're in time.

[rope bridge squeaking]

Bert: [nervous gulp]

♪ [dramatic music]

Ralph: Melissa! Schaeffer!
Thank goodness you're here.

Bert's on the bridge!

[ropes whipping the air]

Bert: Yeaaaaaaah!

[rocks clattering]

Melissa: Oh no!

Schaeffer: Poor Bert!
I hope he's Okay.

Melissa: It's all
my fault, Schaeffer.

♪ [dramatic music]

Pig 1: It's awfully
quiet down there, Sir.

Pig 2: There's no sign of him.

We finally stopped him!

Cyril: We?!

The Pigs: You, Sir! You, Sir!

Cyril: That's better.

Well, my secret is safe for now.

♪ [dramatic music]
[hissing sound]

Ralph: Look!

♪ [triumphant music]

It's Bert!

♪♪
[hissing sound]

Cyril: What?!
He's still coming?!

He must be a cat
in a raccoon skin suit!

Pig 1: Allow me, Sir.

[Ptoo!!

[hissing sound]

[pop!]
[deflating sound]

[deflating sound]

Melissa: He made it!

Ralph: Thank goodness he's safe!

Schaeffer: Except now he's alone

with the Grim.
Melissa: The Grim!

Ralph: The Grim...
Melissa: Oh no!

Schaeffer: Come on, g*ng,
we've got work to do.

Cyril: Now you've done it.

There's no time to lose.
Follow me!

♪ [suspenseful music]

Bert: Ehhh... it's,
it's getting hard to see.

♪♪

Oooo-eeeeh!

Oh! I gotta be more careful.

♪♪

Oooh! Eeeh!

Aaah, I gotta get out of here!

♪♪

Oh... No!

♪♪

Help! Help!

[panicked mumbling]

[thud!]

♪♪

Pig 1: Look at this.

[reading] Samaritan Sneer,

a generous aardvark-atarian...

Pig 2: ..who donated
every single penny

he ever earned...

Pigs: ...to worthy causes?!

Pig 3: This is the secret
we've been protecting?!

[laughter]

Cyril: Do you find
something funny

about a Sneer that
gave away all his money?

The Pigs: No, Sir! No, Sir!

Cyril: A Sneer, who gave
everything away to charities?!

This statue is an
embarrassment to me!

It could ruin my image forever!

Oh! Uh-uh-uhhh!

Pig 3: But Sir, why
don't you just destroy it?

Cyril: Destroy it?!

The Pig 2: Oh yes
Sir, destroy it.

Cyril: On top of my being quiet,
humble, generous and kind...

I also always keep my word.

Samaritan: Promise me...

Cyril: I suggest,
you do the same.

The Pigs: Yes, Sir!

Cyril: Because, if one breath
ever gets out about this,

they'll be kicking you
off at the 50 yard line

at next year's Super Bowl.

Is that clear?
The Pigs: Yes, Sir!

Pig 1: Your secret's
safe with us, Sir.

Pig 2: Our lips are sealed!
Cyril: So's your fate!

Now get this eyesore where no
one will ever find it.

The Pigs: [struggle]
[rolling sound]

Cyril: Push!

Before that blasted raccoon
comes to his senses!

Pigs: [struggling]

Bert: [confused]
Huh?

Where am I?

What am I?

[screams!]
The Grim!

Oh, yike!

♪ [dramatic music]

Hey, hey! Heeeeeey!

Oh no! The rope bridge!

I, I, I can't stop!

I'm goin' over.

It's all over!

[crash!]

[boing!]

[boing-boing!]

Melissa: Bert, are you okay?

Bert: Huh? Melissa?

Ralph, Schaeffer...

w-w-what are you doing here?

Ralph: We followed after you.

We thought you
might need our help.

But you look like you
did all right on your own.

Bert: Uh-eh...oh yeah!

Listen, you guys wouldn't
believe the things I saw.

There were large snakes,

and monsters with huge teeth

and the Grim monster.

Why, after I crossed
the bridge, he...

The bridge!

Hey, who fixed the bridge?

Melissa: Well,
we sort of did Bert.

But we certainly couldn't have
done it without your bubble gum.

Bert: [chuckles]

Schaeffer/Bert: [laughs]

Bert: ...and then I said
to the Grim, 'Ohh yeah?!'

And I wrestled him to the ground

and then he turned
pale and ran from me.

Hah, I laughed so hard!

[laughs]

I rolled right down from
the top of the mountain

and then...

Ah! The top of the mountain?!

I-I made it.

I made it to the top of
Evergreen Mountain!

ME!! Bert Raccoon!

The greatest mountain climber
in the whole wide world!

And I did it!!

Alone...
Melissa: You did it, Bert!

And Ralph and I
learned something.

Ralph: Yeah, it's nice
to do things alone,

but it's even nicer to share
the experiences...together!

Melissa: And we love to share
things with you, Bert.

Bert: Awww, gosh..

Schaeffer: Well,
I'd better be getting back

to Broo and the kids.

Melissa: Goodbye Schaeffer!
Ralph: And thanks!

Bert: Yeah, thanks a lot!

Schaeffer: Anytime.

[clicking sound]

Broo: Ruff!
[whizzzz]

[panting]

Ruff-ruff!

Schaeffer/Broo: [happy barking]

♪ [gentle music]

Dan: Good morning kids.

Julie: Good morning, daddy.
Tommy: Good morning, Dad!

Dan: Did you sleep well?
Julie: Uh-huh!

Thanks to Broo!
Tommy: And Schaeffer!

They scared off
all kinds of things.

Julie: And we're sure
one of them was the Grimm.

Dan: [laughs]
Who's for hotcakes and sausages?

Julie: Hotcakes and sausages?

Tommy: Hotcakes and
sausages. Oh boy!!

Julie: Let's go!

Dan: Last one to the
kitchen's a rotten egg!

Tommy: I'm not it!
[happy barking]

Narrator: Just like
Bert Raccoon,

Tommy and Julie had conquered
the night and its fears

all by themselves!

And their first night
alone in the forest

would be cherished and
remembered by them

for a long, long time.
