Paleontologist, and this is daspletosaurus.
Daspletosaurus.
Daspletosaurus.
Daspletosaurus.
Daspletosaurus, like tyrannosaurus rex, was part of
A family of dinosaurs known as tyrannosaurs. Daspletosaurus
Shared a lot of things in common with its famous cousin
T. Rex. Both were bipedal, which means that they walked on
Two legs. Both had tiny arms with only two fingers on each
Hand, and both had large heads with mouths full of large,
Sharp teeth, perfect for eating meat.
[Doorbell rings] point of fact--tyrannosaurus
And daspletosaurus did not live at the same time.

Well, that's a very good point...of fact. Both of these
Big carnivores lived during the cretaceous period, but
Daspletosaurus lived millions of years before t. Rex, and
There's another pretty big difference between these two
Tyrannosaurs. Daspletosaurus was actually smaller than t.
Rex. A grownup daspletosaurus was about feet long, almost
As long as a school bus, but tyrannosaurus was much bigger,
Over feet long, making it one of the biggest meat-eaters
Ever to walk on land. Ok. Keep watching for more dinosaur
Discoveries.

That's true, but I've seen another dinosaur at the big
Pond with even bigger and more elaborate horns.

That dinosaur is styracosaurus.
They're pretty famous in the ceratopsian family.
What's a ceratopsian?
Glad you asked, mr. The don.
Ceratopsians are a group of big horned dinosaurs who also have
Frills. Who can name this one?
Triceratops!
That's right! And while all ceratopsians have horns and
Frills like triceratops, none of them are as showy as
Styracosaurus.
Ooh!
See that massive frill and huge spikes? You can bet they
Get styracosaurus a whole lot of attention!
Can we meet a styracosaurus?

There is a local styracosaurus family that hangs around the

Styracosaurus used all of those horns for?
Fighting meat-eaters.
Protecting itself.
Great guesses. Although we're not sure, we think that
Those horns may have been used mostly for showing off to other
Styracosaurs. Hey. Those are great horns.

Nature, and make your own discoveries.
[Moo] did you know that the
Dinosaur train travels everywhere in the mesozoic era?
Let's look at the map. There was the triassic, jurassic, and
Cretaceous time periods. Let's visit the cretaceous. Many new
Kinds of flowers and insects appeared during this time. The
Most dinosaurs, like tyrannosaurus rex, and flying
Creatures, like pteranodons, lived in the cretaceous, and
