SAL: Boss! Until you

called, we had no idea

there was a dog in the truck!

- We've got to shut that dog up!

- Open it.

I wouldn't do that.

Easy now.

I've got this, Charlie.

Thanks, Joe.

Come on.

- Let's go.

JESSE: Okay, so you

broke the car-jacking ring

but who k*lled Max?

- Hey!

- That was Diana.

Her g*n matched the ballistics

and her fingerprints matched the partial

in the cartridges on your case.

CHARLIE: So, we think we can make

accessory charges stick there, too.

Wow.

That's a pretty exciting first

few days as interim chief!

Huh, boss?

Yeah. Uh, about that

- What?

- I may have used my title

to shut down the docks

for a few hours. And

well, it didn't sit well

with the Port Authority CEO.

[REX WHINES]

So, to make a long story short,

I've been fired.

You got fired? You're kidding me!

Yeah, that's okay, though! Turns out

Superintendent Lewis

got the job after all.

- [JESSE EXHALES]

- SARAH: I think you would have made

a great Chief Superintendent, Joe.

Well, thank you.

But you know what? Major Crimes

is always going to be my home.

SARAH: Hey, Jesse. Did

your brush with death

give you any insight into your life?

You can relate, huh?

Yeah, yeah, I just don't want to

waste the time that I have left.

So, with your support, I

I want to go for my qualifications exam.

To be a detective?

Yeah.

I'll write you a reference letter.

Thanks.

What do you think, Joe? Do you

think there's room in Major Crimes

for a Detective Mills?

Well, how about you pass first

- and then we'll talk.

- [JESSE CHUCKLES]

JESSE: Okay.

Then who knows, maybe

I'll get a dog, too!

- What do you think, Rex?

- [REX BARKS]

- [SARAH CHUCKLES]

- I didn't mean it!

I'm sorry. I'm sorry,

it was only ever you.

- Yeah.
