Hey! Gulo Gulo is on the go-go.

See, see how much roomthere is to run around here?

I like to leap myself...

and there's lotsof space for that.

-There he goes.

A wolverine is always moving.

Their home territory canbe nine hundred square miles.

That's the size of halfthe state of Rhode Island.

-Well what doyou think Gulo Gulo?

Isn't this a greatplace to run around in?

You can have lots of fun here.

So you want to live here?

Gulo Gulo?

Gulo Gulo is realfast and I have to be

a real leaping lemurto keep up with him.

-Alright, but Zoboo, now that Gulo Gulo has takena break, let's check him out.

He is dark brown witha flash of gold down the side,

gold on the head, and white on the chest.

Oh yeah! And you canalways see those white teeth

and white claws.

-Look at thewolverine's huge paws.

They're great forwalking through the snow.

A wolverine is a carpal walker.

That means hewalks not only on his handsbut also on his wrist bones.

That gives him a bigger area sohis feet don't sink in the snow.

And that's importantbecause a wolverinelives in the snowy north.

-Well, if you had a niceplace here to live you wouldstay wouldn't you Gulo Gulo?

Yeah!Animal Junction is the mostmangatsika place in the world.

Yeah! The brothersshowed me how to use them.

You'llreally like it when you wantto slow down and take a nap.

No?

Was it something I said?

You like taking naps don't you?

-I don't think a hammockis right for a wolverine Zob.

-But!

Are you sure?

Oh well!

Where are you going now?

You sure liketo move around a lot.

Aye!

I meant to do that.

I can't keep up withyou. You cover a lot of ground.

Trust me, hammocksare really nice for a nap,

they are.

Aye!

I meant to do that too.

Think we cantake a little break?

Where to now buddy?

-A wolverine hardlyever rests, he just takesshort naps every now and then.

Most of the time he'son the move, that's Gulo Gulo,

you just can'tfence this creature in.

-But I think Gulo Gulois not like other wolverines.

He doesn't need that much space.

-All wild animalsneed their space and

wolverines in particular, need tons of space.

If you're a wolverine,you usually travel alone

searching for foodand that search can take you

miles and miles, and you know what else?

A wolverine is a super predator.

He is one of the mostpowerful, strongest creaturesin all of North America.

He can even gohead to head with a grizzlybear or a pack of wolves.

One tough creature.

-Mangatsika!

-Wolverinesneed wide open space.

A creature like this can'tlive in a house like humans can.

-A wolverine is sotough, he can chase a grizzlybear away from his meal.

I mean, he caneven chase a bear, up to tentimes his own size, away.

Now you got to givea creature like a wolverinehis space and so do bears.

-If he stuck aroundhere in Animal Junction,

he'd never have to chasea grizzly bear from your snack

A wolverine is an omnivore, which means he'll eat anything.

Like insects, eggs, deer, even a big creature like an elk.

He'll also use hisstrong paws to dig up roots.

And those two cubs are playing.

-And if lions want to play, theyneed a lot of room to do it.

That's one creature youhave to give a lot of space to.

-Yeah! He needsa lot of space too.

-That's right! A lion'shome range can be anywhere

from ten square milesto three hundred square miles.

-I don't hear the lions anymore.

-No, I guess the coast is clear.

and we can't evenget out of our tent.

And her whole herd.

Rhinos are the third largestland mammals in the world,

but for sucha large creature, they don'treally need that much space.

A rhino mighteven spend her whole life in arange of just one square mile.

Now that's whatI call a small home range.

-Seems likethe rhinos grazed on.

-And now we can finally getout into those wide open spaces.

-Yeah!

I can't wait to get out.

-Oh look an elephant!

-Maybe we should hangout in our tent a little longer.

-Not again.

-Are we ever gonnaget out of this tent?

Oh it's a breeding herd!

I think they're thirsty.

-On a hot day a wateringhole is the place to be.

-Yeah! A herd ofelephants will travel hundredsof miles to get to water.

And you know what's amazing?

An elephant can drinktwenty-six gallons at a time.

That's a whole bathtub full.

That felt good.

-Hey, now they'rehaving a dust bath!

That helps keepan elephant parasite-free.

That didn't feel very good.

-Herd's heading out.

-Guess we can too.

-It looks like it's thefirst time today that there's no

creature standingright in front of our tent.

-Yeah! Out here there's enoughroom for all kinds of creatures.

-Including us.

-Let's run with the creatures.

-I'm right behind you.

Whether you're fast or slow,

there's no feeling likebeing free and in the wild.

-It's great seeing creaturesin the wide open spaces.

-But it's also greatto get back to Animal Junction.

-Let's see what Zoboo is up to.

Hey, hey! Look who's here!

-Whoa! Grizzly bear cubs!

It's Long Claw

and Tough Tooth.

-Hi guys! I'm giving LongClaw and Tough Tooth their space

because I rememberedwhat you told me aboutgiving bears their space.

-Good going Zoboo, and you know, you can only get this close

to grizzly bearcubs in Animal Junction.

-I'll show you what he means.

This is close to us...

and this is far to us,

but it's closeto a grizzly bear.

Grizzly bearsare tough creatures,

but they're mostlyonly dangerous when theirspace is being taken over.

Especially if a grizzlymom's space is invaded.

She's the most dangerouswhen she has cubs to protect.

She keeps hercubs really close to herand watches them carefully.

Even a male grizzlybear will sometimes backoff from a female with cubs.

-Long Claw and ToughTooth seem pretty happyhere in Animal Junction.

-These cubs might staytogether for five years,

but then they'llgo off on their own and lookfor their own territory.

-Yeah, usually grizzlybears don't like having company,

the only groupsyou'll probably ever see,are a mom and her cubs.

-But there is a time when a lotof grizzlies will get together,

that's when there'sa lot of food around.

Whether it's berryfields or salmon streams,

large numbers of grizzlieswill get together to eat.

Some grizzlies travel hundredsof miles to get to salmon.

When the fish go upstream, grizzlies have a feast.

They don't even mindif there are other bears

nearby because there'sso much food to go around.

-Grizzly cubs, like Long Claw and ToughTooth, grow pretty quickly.

They stop drinking theirmom's milk at about five months,

but they stay withher until at least the

second year and sometimesuntil three or four.

-That tickles.

So Long Claw andTough Tooth will grow up andgo off to live on their own?

-That's pretty much the waygrizzly bears do things Zoboo.

She's going offon her own right now.

She's saying hi to you guys.

-What's that?

Oh yeah, I guess so, me too.

If you're goingto live with anyone, itmight as well be your mom.

-What are you guystalking about Zoboo?

-He said that's theirmom calling and they've

got to get back to herso that they can go back to

living free and in the wild.

Butwait until I tell you a storyabout one time in Zobooland.

-Maybe my idea wasn't the best.

You like to floataround Zobooland.

-Yeah, I like being on the move.

-I know what Cy means.

I love snowy MountZoboomafoo, but sometimes

I come down justto play with the sand.

It feels good in my fingers.

-When it getstoo dark in my tunnels,

I drill holes in things up here.

-I don't stay inthis pond all the time,

sometimesI travel through underwaterrivers to other ponds.

-Yeah, there'snothing like living andrunning free in Zobooland.

Well let's go everybody.

And everybodyran in their own way.

Well, I leapt of course,

the Snow Lemur waddled,

-Let's cover some ground, yeah!

-Sensit ran on his fingertips.

And Slimantha slidin her slippery way.

And Cy floated, like always.
