♪ Not knowing where this adventure would end ♪

♪ The animals were headed just around the bend ♪

♪ Where are they going? I don't know ♪

♪ How do we get there? Come on, let's go ♪

Chris: yeah.

It's good to be back at animal junction.

Hey, let's lose the duds, brother.

I'm glad we wore warm clothes. It's cold out there!

Hey! Arctic wolf pups!

They have coats of fur to keep them warm.

Creatures who live where it snows,

Like moose or bighorn sheep,

Need thick coats in winter.

I wonder if zoboo is keeping warm.

Hey, zoboo!

Chris: hey, zoboo!

Are you keeping warm out there?

No chat till he's had his snack.

Wow! Your fur is so soft!

It keeps you warm on cold nights.

What does zoboo want to eat?

I love you, zoboo.

How about apples?

Ha ha!

All right!

Zoboo, here's an apple!

There you go. Not the whole thing!

That's too much.

I cut a piece for you.

Oh, you want that big piece.

Ha ha ha!

Ha ha ha!

[Belch]

Zoboomafoo!

Ooh-wah!

Hello there. I like being here.

I like eating snacks, too.

We know that.

Mangatsika!

I like the things you wear.

And mostly, I like your hat.

Ha ha!

That's my jacket!

It keeps me warm when I'm mountain biking.

You could call it a coat.

Coat is what the animal I saw had on!

He was big, and he had a big coat.

This mystery animal has big bumps.

One is a head, and two are humps.

♪ Who could it be? ♪

His head was big and heavy and very furry, too.

Hee hee ha!

♪ Can you help me guess this mystery? ♪

He's a big-coated, two-humped furry creatu.

Chris: two humps on his back.

Martin: moves his mouth from side to side.

Long legs, knobby knees.

Shaggy coat.

Who is it?

Mangatsika! Mystery animal's here!

Hey! Ha ha!

Zoboo: this camel is big!

Chris: a big two-humped camel.

There are two types of camels.

One type has one hump, the other has two.

This two-humped camel is called a bactrian camel.

Funny name for a camel.

Look at all this shaggy fur! It's amazing!

Wow! Fur! I have fur.

Yeah. Have you got fur?

You don't have fur, except on your head.

He's so shaggy, I'll call him shagamel the camel!

Yeah! Shagamel!

I love that his head is so huge.

Look at that.

Wow.

This big, thick neck.

He has a big neck.

At least he has a neck.

I love a camel's nostrils.

They're just two slits.

That keeps sand out of his nose.

They open and close when I pet him.

His nostrils can close? Let me try.

[Inhales and exhales loudly]

[Inhales]

Oh, neat!

I don't think I could travel very far like that, though.

[Coughs]

Whoa! This camel steps with funny feet!

It's hard to walk in the sand.

A camel's feet are so big and round,

He doesn't sink into the sand when walking in the desert.

Dessert? What's for dessert? Mangoes?

Not dessert, zob. Desert!

That's where camels live.

There's little rain... Lots of sun...

And lots of sand everywhere.

Chris: a camel is one amazing creature,

From the tip of his nose to his big head,

Down his long neck...

Martin: to his two humps

All the way back to his muscular legs.

[Camel groans loudly]

Sounds like he's bugged by something.

I know what's bugging him.

He's got sand in his eyes from the desert.

Let's look.

The camel has long eyelashes!

Those long eyelashes help a camel

Keep sand out of his eyes.

There's no sand in this camel's eyes.

Snow lemur: I get sand all over me at the beach.

Fibby: and water!

Maybe the camel's thirsty.

He's in the right place.

Animal junction is an oasis!

Let's bring on the water!

This is a good swimming hole, but this is better.

This is like a pool.

[Children laughing]

For a camel, this is a cold drink on a hot day.

How about a drink?

Are you thirsty?

Want some water?

Maybe we'll put it down.

Guess he's not thirsty.

Maybe he wants to get his water from l.

That's how lemurs get a drink sometimes.

We eat leaves. There's water in leaves.

Hey, camel, want a drink?

Oh, guess not, huh?

Camels get some of their water

From the food they eat,

But mostly, they get water from water.

Zoboo: I know what's wrong! His lip, it's broken!

It's not broken! That's how it's supposed to be.

Camels eat vegetation that's low to the ground.

The split lip helps them gather food so they can bite it off.

So his lip is supposed to be like that!

I know! Maybe he's hungry.

I know just the thing.

[Clang]

Ohh...

Just have to make an adjustment here.

There we go.

I got to remember this trick.

Huh?

Oh.

Thanks.

[Chuckles]

Here's something for him to eat.

Great, zob. How about some hay?

He does seem a little hungry...

But this camel isn't starving.

Zoboo: so that's not the problem.

That reminds me of my friend who needed food in zobooland.

I was leaping along... When I saw gooble.

Hello, gooble. How are you?

Gooble said...

I'm sad. My gooble belly is empty.

I can't find any goobleberries to fill it.

I know where some goobleberries are.

Follow me.

I led gooble to a goobleberry patch.

Coming.

See?

Ooh! Goobleberries!

Gooble was so happy, he started singing!

Gooble: ♪ goobleberries, goobleberries ♪

♪ I love to gobble goobleberries♪

♪ Goobleberries, goobleberries ♪

Zoboo: gooble ate so many goobleberries

That his gooble belly grew big and round.

I said, "your belly is full now, gooble.&Quot;

Thanks for solving my problem.

Gooble's belly made noises like a camel.

[Groaning]

The end.

Now to solve shagamel's problem.

He is not happy.

I want to help.

Me, too.

What can we do? We've tried everything.

Hey, camel. What's the matter?

Huh? Uh-oh.

His fur is falling off.

I broke his coat.

The camel is just shedding.

What's shedding?

Shedding is when an animal loses his fur.

When it's warm out,

A camel doesn't need heavy fur.

Maybe he needs help.

Great idea.

Here we go.

That's shedding! Ha ha!

Yuh!

Whoa.

We'll gently pull this out.

There you go!

All this fur could be itchy and uncomfortable.

The more we help him shed,

The better he'll feel.

Only take the loose hairs.

Hey! I'll get some brushes!

Camel hair-- it's everywhere!

Ah...ah...ah.

Martin: try that.

Chris: thanks.

Yeah.

Whoo-whee!

Zoboo, what are you doing?

Just helping.

[All laugh]

Hey, thanks, zob.

Ha ha!

Whoa!

Get some of that off.

Thanks.

Uhh...

Camel hair is everywhere. It's all over me.

Is it hot in here or what?

You have a camel hair coat on.

The camel was upset because he was hot.

I'm hot, too.

And I'm hot.

All: ah...

Ah...

Ah...

Wiggy: fly away!

All: ah-choo!

They did it!

Shagamel feels good, and I'm feeling camel-i.

♪ I feel different, not the same ♪

♪ This kind of feeling I can't explain ♪

♪ There's only one thing that I can do ♪

I feel camel-ish, how about you? ♪

♪ Camel-ish ♪

♪ Came-came-camelish ♪

♪ Came-came-camelish ♪

♪ I'm a two-humped bactrian walking through the sand ♪

♪ Camel-ish ♪

Yay! We did it!

Shagamel's happy now.

Hi. Huh?

Uh-huh.

Ohh...

Uh-huh, uh-huh.

Shagamel says, "thanks for helping me.&Quot;

Shagamel's leaving.

Chris: see you later!

Zoboo: good-bye, mangatsik!

Brothers!

I can't believe my mind!

Brothers, look!

Penguins!

They're african penguins.

Hi, guys.

I know what they're looking for.

Water! They're headed straight for the pool!

Penguins love the cold water.

Do you know how they stay warm

In water that's practically freezing?

Penguins have fat and feathers that let them stay warm.

Noggendrill: who needs those? I spin to stay warm!

I'm going in!

No, martin! It's too cold in that ice water!

Remember? It's great for penguins

But not for kratt brothers.

Penguins have fat and feathers to keep them warm.

Oh! The penguins are going home now.

Chris: come back for a swim!

Incoming.

Together: duck!

Zoboo: it is a duck.

Look at these warm and waterproof feathers.

Every year, a duck loses its old feathers

And grows new ones.

It's called molting.

Molting is the bird version of shedding.

Camels shed. Ducks molt.

Let's see what jackie

And the animal helpers are doing.

Hi, guys. You know what?

I've got a big job today.

I'm helping goldie take off her winter coa.

Now that it's spring, she doesn't need a heavy co.

Dogs like it. Cats like it, too.

Zoboo, do you like being brushed?

Zoboo: oh, that's nice.

Can you go a little lower?

Zob, no hair is coming off.

That's because I'm from madagascar.

I don't have any extra hair to brush off.

In madagascar, you don't have snowy winters.

You don't need a warm coat,

Just like giraffes in africa.

Chris: or some kangaroos

In hot places in australia.

Animals in cold places

Need lots of fur in the winter.

We need special winter clothes, too!

I'm out of here!

Zoboo: we would freeze out there.

Aren't there any animals who won't freeze?

Yeah. Many animals.

Great animals who are ready to deal with the cold.

I smell a trip coming on!

Will you find out about animals' clothing?

Sure. First, we get our clothes.

♪ They're going to the closet ♪

♪ They're going on a trip ♪

♪ They're going to the closet ♪

♪ To grab their stuff and split ♪

Are you going in the closet, guys?

Sure, zob. We're going.

Yeah. That's where our clothes are.

Why don't you want to go?

We want to go.

What's wrong with the closet?

No problem with the closet.

We love the closet.

Best closet.

They think stuff will fall out on them.

Ugh!

Ha ha!

[Echoing] zoboo, you in there?

You ok, zob?

Aah! Aah!

Oh! Ow! Oh!

Ohh... Ohh...

Zoboo: one sweater, two sweaters.

I almost couldn't find them.

You should clean your closet.

Thanks, zob.

♪ They're going on a cool adventure ♪

♪ And they don't know what's in store ♪

Chris: let's go!

Geese overhead!

Geese have waterproof feathers to keep them warm.

And they have a warm layer of down underneath.

Like my fleece!

That layer of down keeps them toasty.

Check out their feet.

They're webbed, and they're naked!

No feathers, no fur, no fat--

Just skin and tendons.

Geese don't have much feeling in their feet.

What's wrong?

Cold! Cold!

Oh. Bet that feels frosty.

Wish I had feet like a goose.

If I had feet like a lynx,

I could walk in the snow all day!

Wouldn't it be great to have fur on your feet?

Or feathers, like a snowy owl living in the arctic.

To stay warm, feathers cover her feet.

Look at those feathers.

Some creatures don't just have fur or feathers for warmth.

They have fat. Look at those polar bears jiggle!

The fat is right under their fur.

They have double protection from the cold.

We've got the fs--fur...

Feathers...

And fat!

These animals are really built

For staying warm.

I'm freezing!

[Peeping]

Hear that?

Yeah. Where's it coming from?

Do you know who makes that sound?

Together: yeah! Otters!

Some river otters live in cold places,

So they need special fur for warmth.

They have soft underfur which keeps them warm,

Which is covered by long, hard oily outerfur which keeps them dry.

They can swim in freezing cold water.

An otter's sleek fur makes him really great at tobogganing.

And this toboggan makes us good at tobogganing.

Otters have discovered the fourth "f"--

Together: fun!

Whoo!

Whoo! Yeah!

Hoo-hoo!

Hoo-hoo!

Together: whoa!

Yeah!

We have to make this turn!

Whoa!

Oh!

I think an otter could have handled that turn.

Otters are creatures who know how to slide.

It's time to head back to animal junction.

Downhill?

Downhill.

Otter style!

Together: whoo-hoo!

Yeah!

Whoo-hoo-hoo!

Ha ha!

Zoboo: you're a big creature, just like shagamel.

Martin: where's zob?

With the fur.

Whoa.

Wow!

Zoboo made a new animal friend!

He's warm to sit on.

Your new friend is a yak.

Yak, yak, yak.

Yaks are amazing creatures.

They live high up in the mountains

Where no other mammals live.

This thick fur lets the yak be comfortable

In the coldest weather.

Martin: other animals live in snow, too,

Like japanese macaques.

These monkeys have thick fur for warmh

And love hanging out in natural hot springs.

Does the yak remind you of a farm animal?

[Cow moos]

A yak is a wild relative of a cow.

The horns, the hooves,

The basic head shape--

All very cowlike.

Cows came from wild ancestors

That looked like a yak.

Wiggy: yak, yak, yak, yak!

Check out those horns!

If you ever mess with a yak,

You have to deal with these horns.

There are horns like this.

[Playing off-key]

And there are horns like these.

Zoboo: let me try.

[Blowing]

This horn doesn't make any noise.

Chris: try it again!

[Mooing]

Ha ha!

This makes a funny noise.

Narchi: blow your horn!

Yaks have lots of fat and fur

To keep them warm in cold weather.

Fat, fur, and feathers-- of the fs.

Not feathers, zob.

Just fat and fur.

Not like wiggy in zobooland.

Wiggy?

Yeah.

I was leaping along--

Leap, leap, leap.

Then I stopped because I wanted to go up mount zoboomafoo.

Then wiggy flew by.

I want to go, too!

But, wiggy, it's very cold on top of mount zoboomafoo.

It's too cold for you.

My feathers will keep me warm!

Yeah? Then let's go.

Wait for me. I want to go.

But, gooble, it's very cold.

Wiggy has feathers, and I have fur,

But it's too cold up there for you.

My fat will keep me warm.

Oh, yeah? Then let's go!

Gooble: I might need some help.

Wiggy: I'll help!

Zoboo: so we climbed and climbed and climbed.

As we climbed, it got colder and colder

And colder!

But our fur, feathers, and fat kept us warm.

We heard a friendly voice.

Snow lemur: h-hello!

Zoboo: it was snow lemur,

And we jumped around on the top of mount zobooma!

All: hooray for the fs!

Zoboo: I had fs today: fun, fun, fun, fun,

When I was feeling camelish.

And when we were with the shaggy yak.

And when we played with the otters.

♪ This animal is a friend of mine ♪

♪ From the tip of his nose to his funny behind ♪

♪ All the friends that we met today ♪

♪ Are special in their own way ♪

♪ We've all got different names ♪

♪ But we're really all the same ♪

♪ Thanks for dropping by, we're glad you came ♪

♪ These animals are friends of mine ♪

♪ They jump and swim, crawl, fly, and climb ♪

♪ One more thing we have to say ♪

♪ Go make an animal friend today, yeah! ♪
