01x01 - Thomas and Gordon

Thomas is a t*nk engine
who lives on the island of Sodor.

He has six small wheels, a short funnel,

a short boiler and a short dome.

He's a fussy engine,
always pulling coaches

for the big engines to take on journeys.

When trains come in,
he pulls the coaches away,

so that the big engines can go and rest.

He loves playing tricks on other engines,
including Gordon - the biggest engine.

Thomas whistles rudely,
"Wake up, lazybones. Work hard."

(Whistles)

After pulling the big express,
Gordon was very tired.

He was going to sleep but Thomas said,

"Wake up, lazy bones. Do some work.
You can't catch me."

Gordon thought how he could
get back at Thomas.

One morning, Thomas wouldn't wake up.

His fire went out.

People were waiting for the express.

(Whistles)

At last, Thomas started.

"Oh dear," he yawned.

He fussed into the station.

"Hurry up," said Gordon.
"Hurry yourself," replied Thomas.

"l will," said Gordon.

He reversed and coupled to the train.

"Get in quickly," he whistled.

Gordon started so quickly,
they forgot to uncouple Thomas.

Gordon's chance had come.

"Come on,"
puffed Gordon to the coaches.

The train went too fast for Thomas.

"Peep-peep. Stop."

"Hurry," laughed Gordon. "You can't
get away," laughed the coaches.

Poor Thomas was out of breath
and his wheels hurt him.

"My wheels will be worn out,"
he thought sadly.

(Whistles)

(Whistles)

At last, they stopped at a station.

Thomas felt silly and exhausted.

He went onto a turntable,
thinking of everyone laughing at him.

Then he ran to a siding, out of the way.

"Now you know what hard work means,"
chuckled Gordon.

Poor Thomas had no breath.

He puffed away to rest
and had a long drink.

He went home very slowly

and was careful never to be cheeky
to Gordon again.
