(panting)

- Come on, Dad! We'll be late!

(laughing)

- It's alright, Zak. The match doesn't start for a while yet.

- Yes. Save your energy for cheering.

- Come on, Zebratown!

(laughing)

Greatest volleyball team in the world!

- Well, in the town anyway.

(tweeting)

- This is the best birthday present I've ever had!

Quick! I don't want to miss it!

(laughter)

(panting)

Huh? Oh!

Where is everyone?

- Uh, Mr. Zoey, are you sure they're supposed to have the match here?

- Yes, that's what it says on the tickets.

All their home games are played here.

(door closing)

(clopping)

- Oh, dear. It looks as if no one told you.

- Told us what?

- Most of the players on both teams have come down with flu.

We've had to cancel the game.

- Oh...

- Oh, dear.

- But it's alright.

You can still use the tickets when they reschedule it.

- But it's my birthday.

It was my birthday present.

- Oh, I am sorry, Zak.

- So what do we do now? We can't just go home.

Zak's been looking forward to this for ages. Haven't you?

Hmm. Huh!

Maybe Zak can have his volleyball match after all.

- Afraid not. Like I said, the players are all too ill.

- Yes, I know they're poorly. But we're not, are we, Zak?

- Uh... no?

- And the court's free, isn't it?

All we need is some more players and we can have a match of our own!

- Oh! That's a brilliant idea!

Go on. How about it, Zowie?

- Well, I have to close up soon,

but if you can get enough players together by :, the court's all yours!

- Yay! Thanks, Zowie! Come on, let's find some volleyballers!

- Yay!

(laughter)

(tweeting)

- We'll soon find some people to...

Hey, look!

- Uh, Zoroaster?

Would you like a game of volleyball? It's my birthday!

- Oh. Jolly good.

Happy birthday, Zak.

But as to volleyball, sorry, no can do.

I'm already late for a rendezvous with Zigmund.

Another time?

- Another time won't be my birthday.

- Don't worry, Zak. We've got plenty more people to ask.

- Huh?

- Oh, my family. They're all volleyball fans.

- Yeah!

(all): Hello!

- Hello, Mr. Zoey, Zak.

I didn't expect you all back so soon.

Is the match over already?

- No. It got cancelled. Everyone's got flu!

- Oh, what a shame.

- So Zowie said we can organize a game ourselves.

Do you want to play?

- I'd love to, Bizou, But I've got to wait here

for the deliverymen to bring the new dishwasher.

- Oh. So how about Dad? Could he come?

- Afraid not. He's taken Grandpa and Grandma to the DIY store.

(sighing)

- It's just not my day.

- We're not giving up yet, Zak!

Mom, how about Uncle Zavier and Aunt Zelda? Do you think they'd play?

- Well... you could always ask them.

- Come on! Let's go and see!

- Hmm.

- Uh, well, it's most kind of you to ask, Zou,

but I am rather busy at present and, uh,

I don't have my sports gear with me.

- Oh, but you could always borrow something from Zowie.

- I don't really think it'd fit me.

And I can't really play in this suit, can I?

- I think we could manage without you for one day.

Besides, you could do with the exercise, dear.

- Oh.

(giggling)

Hmm. Alright, count me in.

- Oh, brilliant!

- Thanks, Uncle Zavier!

- Hmm. But I won't be doing any jumping. My suit!

- So that makes four of us!

- Can I play, Zak?

- Of course, Zinnia.

- That makes five!

- But not volleyball. Badminton.

- Oh! Ugh.

It won't be much of a game if your uncle won't jump and Zinnia plays badminton.

- Hmm. Zinnia, it's Zak's birthday.

And he'd like to play volleyball.

- Ugh. But badminton's much more fun.

It'll make his birthday really special!

- Oh, we'll sort everything out at the gym. We need just one more player,

and we'll have two teams of three.

- Yeah!

- But that's too many for badminton!

- Come on, Zinni

-pops.

Like Zou says, we'll sort it out on the way.

(gasping)

- Look!

(laughter)

Hello, Mrs. Zolli. We're having a volleyball match for my birthday.

Would you like to play?

- Oh, I'd love to, Zak.

But, oh, I've got a rather stiff shoulder at the moment.

I can only lift this arm.

- Hmm. And you need both arms for volleyball.

- You do, Zak. I'm so sorry.

But happy birthday anyway.

- Thanks, Mrs. Zolli. Hope your arm gets better soon.

- Thank you, Zak.

- Who else can we ask?

- Hmm. Elzee!

Come on!

(chirping)

(doorbell ringing)

- Oh, I don't think anyone's at home.

- Oh, dear.

(gasping)

- Hmm.

- But if Elzee's not here, I think I might know where she is.

(giggling)

- There she is!

- What did I say?

- Hello.

- Hello, Zou.

- Elzee, we're having a volleyball match for Zak's birthday,

and we need one more person. Would you like to play?

- Mom, can I?

- Oh, of course you can.

I can manage the easels when I've finished.

Happy birthday, Zak!

- Thank you. Hurray!

Two teams of three!

(cheering)

- Marvellous!

- It's nearly :.

And if Zowie thinks we're not coming,

he might close the gym before we get there!

Hmm. Oh!

Could I borrow those?

- Of course.

(laughing)

- I'll go tell Zowie we're on our way!

- I'll come with you.

- Hurry, Zou!

(all): Go on, Zou, go!

(panting)

- Here we are.

(panting)

- Zowie! You know you said

-

- I was just about to close up. I didn't think you'd be coming back.

- Well, we did. And we've got two teams!

- Can we still play?

- Of course!

Oh, but bit of a problem. I haven't got any volleyballs for you to play with.

The teams were supposed to bring their own.

(all): Oh, no!

- It's okay. Wait here. I'll be right back.

- We can't play badminton. There are too many of us.

- We're not playing badminton. I've just invented a new game. Volleyminton!

- What?

- Huh?

(kids): Yes!

- Have fun.

- Zowie?

- Hmm.

- Do you want to play too?

- Just got one little job to do. I'll be right back.
