Zou the sports coach

- Your serve, Zou!

- Ready?

- Ready!

(grunting with effort)

(panting in anticipation)

- Oh, Zak! Butterfingers!

- Sorry, Zinnia...

- That's one more point to Zou's team. Match point!

(grunts)

- Go on, kids! Go on!

(shouts in fear)

- Well done, you two!

- Yeah!

- Zou?

How about a return match?

- Yeah! How about it, Elzee?

- But we'll change teams.

Girls against boys!

(sighs)

- You're on!

- Is the court free, Zowie?

- Not at the moment... But...

Ah! You're in luck!

The five o'clock slot hasn't been taken yet.

- Oh, good. See you later!

(chirping)

- Zou and Zak! We'll make a great team, won't we!

- Er... not sure.

I'm hopeless at volleyball...

- No... You just need a bit of training!

- But... But I don't know how to train!

- Oh, you will soon!

I'll be your coach!

- Really? Ooh! Brilliant!

And we're going to start right now!

(Zak panting) Come on, Zak!

- Keep going, Zak! You'll do it!

(panting) I can't do it.

The sand's too soft... I can't run in it!

- Oh! Being a coach isn't as easy as I thought.

- Maybe you should ask someone to help?

With all the sporties we have in the house...

- Yes!

Dad'll be able to help!

- Did you have a good time at the beach?

- Oh yeah! We played beach volleyball.

And this afternoon, Zak and I are going to play Zinnia and Elzee.

- But we won't win. I can't jump high enough.

- So we thought we'd do some training.

Could you help, Grandpa?

- Of course I could.

Let's begin by collecting some pinecones for Grandma.

- Uh... All right, Grandpa!

(grunting with effort) They're up too high!

- I can't reach!

(chuckles)

- You need to jump a bit higher then.

First of all: concentrate on your target.

Next, bend your legs and leap!

Stretch up on the tips of your hooves;

and try to touch the sky.

- Like this?

- Yes! That's right.

And keep your eyes on the target.

That way, you jump to the right height!

- Oh

-wuh!!

I can't do it!

(Zou grunts)

- I did it!

- Well done! You've got the hang of it!

Now, have another try Zak.

(Zak sighs)

- Hey! I did it!

- Excellent!

Keep at it. We need a few more cones yet!

(grunting and laughing)

- Here you are, Grandma!

- Oh, thank you!

Did you pick all these? Well done!

- What are they for?

I'm baking a pine nut cake.

- We're training for beach volleyball!

- Can you give us any advice?

- I don't know...

How are you at catching the ball?

- I'm not very good! It hurts my hooves!

- You know... Beach volleyball isn't really my thing.

But maybe I could help...

- Could you?

- Yes!

I can show you how to knead dough properly!

(both kids): Huh?

- But Grandma... we're...

- You start by washing your hooves!

- Oh, no! Another mole in the garden.

- Go on, don't be afraid...

(kids chuckling)

Easy does it! You're too stiff!

You have to use the tips of your hooves,

and squish it gently but firmly.

Like this.

- Wow!

Looks like you've had some practice!

- Your turn!

- This is easier than volleyball...

- Very good!

I think that dough's ready!

Thank you.

You've been a great help.

Now all I have to do is pop the cake in the oven.

Here we go.

(Poc chirping)

- Yay!

Now we know how to make a cake!

- Yes... but we still haven't done any volleyball training.

- Kids! Look at your hooves!

(loud grunt)

- Maybe Dad can teach us something.

Dad?

Can you help us train for beach volleyball?

- I think so. But first...

Shhh! There's another mole in the garden...

We need to catch it and release it well away from here.

Take these.

That's where it pops out of its burrow.

There too. And there. Stand next to them.

Get ready.

There! There it is! Ah!

- Oh, Zak! In front of you!

- Quick, Zou!

(laughing)

We need to get a little bit more organised.

Aah!

- How does it manage to dodge so fast?

(Zak): I'll never catch it.

(all grunting with effort)

- Well, you need to anticipate its changes of direction.

Like this...

- It's too fast!

- Got it!

- Yay!

- Well done!

- That was really hard!

- Right, Mr. Mole.

Let's take you somewhere a bit safer

and where you can't eat Grandpa's vegetables!

- Zou? Zak?

It's nearly five o'clock!

- Already?

But we haven't done any training!

- Come on, Zak. It's not about winning; it's about having fun!

(chirping)

- I'm looking forward to this!

- Me too!

- Are you ready?

(all): Ready!

(whistling)

(grunting with effort)

- Mine!

Oh, bother!

(laughter)

- Pity you didn't do any training Zak.

- One

-nil to Zinnia and Elzee!

- Oh...

- Remember... the dough!

- Hit the ball lightly but firmly!

Like with the dough!

That's brilliant, Zak!

- Oh!

(Zak laughs)

- Yeah!

-

-. Match point!

- Your serve, Zinnia!

- Watch this!

(Zinnia giggles)

(Zak moans)

- Zak! Don't forget!

- Anticipate what she's going to do, like with the mole.

Don't follow her!

- I... I did it?

Go on, Zou!

Like with the pinecones!

- Ah!

(whistling)

- Zou and Zak win!

- Us? We won?

- You were great!

- Oh...

I think...

we were training without knowing it!

- Great match, Zou!

- Yes.

I suppose...

So you did do some training after all.

- Yup!

- We have some great coaches at home!

- Apparently, one of them was even a champion.

- Not me.

But Grandma, you said you didn't know anything about beach volleyball?

I never played beach volleyball,

but... I did win a few cups at regular volleyball!

- Who wants some cake?

You've all really earned it!

(all): Yes!

- Thanks, Mum.

- Thank you.

- Oh, yes, please!

- Yummy!

- Oh, it's delicious!

- You're the cake baking champion too, Grandma!

(all laughing)
