- Thank you for helping me, Zou.

- There! Your castle will keep out any attackers now, Zak.

- Yeah!

- Wow. I made a sandcastle yesterday.

I'm going to do something better today.

I'm going kayaking with Daddy!

(Zou gasping)

- Oh! Brilliant!

- I know. See you later!

- Uh...

(Zinnia giggling)

- Bye

-bye!

- Have fun!

(Zak laughing)

(laughing)

- Ah!

(gasping)

(Zinnia): Oh!

(laughter) There we go.

It's a good idea to concentrate on what you're doing

if you don't want to fall into the water.

- Sorry, Zowie.

(chuckling)

- That was brilliant, Zowie!

I'd like to be a lifeguard like you!

- It's not as easy as it looks. It takes a lot of training.

- So could I do some training?

I'd be great at lifeguarding!

- Tell you what. You could start by helping me watch the beach.

- Yay! Thanks, Zowie!

- Hmm.

- Guess what! Guess what! We've got two lifeguards on the beach now.

- Ho

-ho! So where's the second one?

- It's me! Zowie asked me to help him!

- My word. That's quite a responsibility.

- Hmm. But I'll need some lifeguarding stuff.

- Oh, you will!

Something to help you look the part.

- Yes. Um...

Um, a red cap, binoculars,

some flippers...

- Here, you can borrow my binoculars.

I don't think there'll be any yachts to look at today.

- And you can have my flippers.

- Thanks, Dad. Now all I need is the cap.

- Here you go.

- Hmm. Oh, thanks, Grandpa.

But it has to be red.

People need to see me.

(Grandpa chuckling)

- Better?

- Hey! Thanks, Grandpa!

- You're welcome, Zou.

- Right.

Now I need to find a spot where I can see the whole beach.

(tweeting)

Well done, Poc. Great idea. That looks like just the place!

- Hang on. You've got to put on some sun cream.

- Uh...

- Hold still.

(sighing)

- Keep your eyes peeled, Poc. We're on duty!

I wonder how many people we're going to save.

(Zinnia groaning)

- Oh!

- Oh, this rock's not very comfortable.

(giggling)

(chuckling)

(Elzee): Help! Help!

Help!

- That's Elzee! Come on, Poc!

(tweeting)

(panting)

(tweeting)

What's the matter, Elzee?

- Help, Zou. I've lost my hairslide!

- Hmm. Your... hairslide?

- Yes. I can't go swimming without it.

Could you help me look for it, please?

- Oh... okay, Elzee.

where did you last see it?

- I think I saw a hairslide on your towel.

- Hmm.

(tweeting) Oh. No, Poc.

I don't think Zowie does a lot of searching for hairslides.

(tweeting)

There it is!

- Oh, thanks, Zou.

- You're welcome. Right. I've got to get back to my post.

Oh! Come on, Poc!

(tweeting)

(crying)

- A wave smashed into our castle,

and I can't build another like that one all by myself.

- Uh... Um...

Hmm.

- Hmm.

- Don't worry, Zak. I'll help you.

And this time, we'll make it even stronger!

- But... but you're a lifeguard now.

You've got to watch the beach.

- I can watch it while we build the castle.

If anybody needs me, I'll see them.

(Zak laughing)

- Thanks, Zou!

(tweeting)

- There! Nothing's going to break this castle!

- No! It'd take a tidal wave to smash it!

- Huh? Why are you wearing that funny hat?

Oh... and what are those binoculars for?

- Because I'm a lifeguard! Like Zowie!

(gasping)

- But...

I've never seen Zowie making sandcastles.

- Hmm.

- Have you finished kayaking?

- Yes. I'm going to do some ballet practice instead.

Kayaking gets a bit boring after a while.

- Does it? It looked like fun to me.

- Huh. We just went round in circles!

- If you'd listened to me, Zinni

-pops,

we'd have been fine!

You can't just paddle willy

-nilly in a kayak, you know.

(sighing)

- Zou, do you want to borrow my kayak to rescue people?

- What?! Oh, yes! Thanks, Zinnia! Brilliant!

Dad? Can you show me how to kayak?

- Well, I could, Zou.

I love kayaking. But, uh... we'd need a kayak.

- We've got one! Zinnia's lending us hers!

- Well done, Zou! You've got it!

- It's quite easy when you know how.

= I think we're ready to go out on sea patrol!

(Zou giggling)

Oh! It's not as easy when you're on water.

- You just need to keep calm and paddle at a steady rate.

Tell you what. I'll count each stroke.

On "one," we paddle on the right,

and on "two," we paddle on the left. Okay?

- Okay, Dad.

- Ready then?

- Ready.

- One! Two!

One! Two!

Well done, Zou. You're doing really well.

Now you can help anyone who gets into trouble in the water.

- But... we're the only ones out here!

It's not easy being a lifeguard when there's no one to guard.

- A lifeguard's got to have a lot of patience. Look!

Zowie's not rescuing anyone, but he's keeping an eye out all the time.

You've just got to stay alert and keep watching for...

- Oh

-oh!

- Oh! Look! Over there!

(Zou gasping)

- My airbed!

- It's Mom!

- Her airbed's drifting away!

- Quick! We'll save it!

(panting)

Oh, no! It's getting away!

- Calm down, Zou.

If we paddle together the way we did just now, we'll catch up with it. Ready?

- Ready.

- One! Two!

One, two!

One, two! One, two!

One, two!

(tweeting)

- Oh, I

-I've got it!

Yeah! We did it!

- Well done, Zou!

- Here you are, Mom.

- Oh, thanks, Bizou.

Mwah!

(Zou laughing)

I don't know what I'd have done without you.

(Zou laughing)

(sighing) Well...

so far, I've helped Elzee, Zak and Mom,

but I still haven't saved anyone.

(tweeting) And I wanted to be a proper lifeguard like Zowie.

(tweeting)

(shouting)

- Zou.

- Zou!

- Huh? Zou the lifeguard to the rescue!

Maybe Grandpa's lost his glasses.

- Don't worry, Zak. Zou the lifeguard's here.

(chuckling)

Time for a real rescue.

Your castle stood up to the waves alright,

but look, there's a fish trapped inside!

(exclaiming)

- We've got to save it!

- Here we go, little fishy.

Oh. Oh!

(panting)

(Grandpa): Almost.

Oh... steady, Zou.

- Get it, get it!

(Zou grunting)

Hmm. Oh!

Yay! Got it!

(giggling)

Hmm.

Bye, little fishy!

(giggling)

- Oh, well done, Zou!

(cheering)

- Well done, Zou!

- Yeah, well done, Zou. You saved the fish,

and you made a good job of helping out everybody on the beach!

- Well, I like helping people.

- That's a proper lifeguard talking!

I think you've earned this.

- Wow! A real lifeguard's whistle? Thank you, Zowie!

(whistle blowing)

- Oh.

(tweeting)

(laughing)

- Like Dad said,

a lifeguard has to keep his eyes open all the time!
