discovered a story
on Hoobnet all
about being brave.

- [Woman] Edwin
the baby elephant
was looking forward to his
first day at elephant school.
- Yippee!
- Don't forget to
eat your apple.
- [Woman] Said his grandma.
- Make sure you raise your
trunk when you want to speak.
And if anyone bullies
you, tell the teacher.
- [Woman] Edwin nodded.
And hurried along to school.
When he got there he met a
g*ng of older bigger elephants.
- Look!
Here comes titch!
- [Woman] The biggest elephant
scooped Edwin's apple up.
And ate it with a loud crunch.
(Edwin wimpers)
In class the older
bigger elephants
sat behind him and
pulled his tail.
(Professor clears throat)
He couldn't remember a
thing in his memory test.
And when it was his
turn to peel a banana
his trunk twisted
itself into a knot.
(classmates laugh)
At playtime they bumped
into him on purpose
and stamped on his toes.
- [Iver] No!
- [Woman] Edwin wanted
to cry and run home.
Then he remembered what
his grandma had told him.
- If anyone bullies
you tell the teacher.
- [Woman] So that's what he did.
The teacher, Mrs. Gray,
listened to his story.
Then she said, "What a
brave baby elephant you are
"to come and tell me
about these bullies.
"I shall make sure
they stop being mean
"to you straight away!"
- [Iver] Yes.
- [Groove] Yeah.
- [Woman] The next morning
when Edwin went to school
the older bigger elephants
walked straight up to him.
- Hello Edwin.
Do you want to come and play?
- [Woman] And brave little
Edwin was never bullied again.
(lighthearted guitar music)
- There you go,
that's the answer.
- What do you mean Groove?
- Well now we know
how to be brave
we can take it in turns.
You can be mean to me.
Then I can be mean to Tula.
And she can be mean to you.
Then you can be mean to--
- Just a minute Groove.
Are you saying you want to

Then all we have to do is
tell someone about it and zap!
We feel brave.
Just like the baby
elephant in the story.
- But I don't like being mean.

all we're friends.

the peeps feel

It's called mountain climbing.
You see, they walk
as far as they can
and then they climb
the rest of the way.

Goodness me, they're
climbing on ice.
That must be very brave indeed.

- Right, all we
have to do is find
the nearest mountain and
climb to the very top.

I've got some climbing stuff
in my clutter cupboard.

- Hoobygalooby, the
nearest mountains
are two days drive away.
- Two days?
That's no good we wouldn't
make it in time for Hoob news.
- Which means we can't
test that idea out either.

and nowhere to go.

- Now, I hear you're trying
to find out about being brave.

- Well Iver, I've been told
that peeps who climb mountains
are incredibly brave.
So I'm going to climb
this mountain behind me
to see if Hoobs get
the same feeling.
- Oh, I wanted to do that.
- And when I get back,
as I'll have been so brave
perhaps you could find me
a nice round shiny medal.

- And today we have been
asking the question.
- How can a Hoob feel brave?
- [Groove] First we
asked some tiddlypeeps
what made them feel brave.
- [Iver] They said they feel
brave when they fall over.
- But we couldn't test that out
because we didn't want to
hurt ourselves on purpose.
Then we heard a story about
a brave baby elephant.
Who told a teacher
about the elephants
who were bullying him.
- But we couldn't
test that out either
because we didn't want
to be mean to each other.
- [Groove] Then we
saw some pictures
of brave peeps
climbing mountains.
- But we were a long
way from any mountains
so we couldn't test
that idea at all.
- [Tula] And Roma
couldn't test it
because she was too
scared of the mouse.
- And that's when we realized
that being brave had something
to do with first feeling scared.
So we went back to
the tiddlypeeps.
- [Groove] They
showed us that the way
to feel brave is to do
something difficult.
Even if it makes you
feel a little bit scared.
- [Tula] We were
all a bit scared of
going up onto the roof garden
to fetch the Hoobarama.
In case it rained on us.
- But we plucked up our courage
and went together
risking getting wet.
- So now we can wear
our medals with pride.
- You can indeed.
