30x04 - Gotta Put Your Sole Onto It

Post by bunniefuu »

- [Phil] Previously on "The Amazing Race,"

in the exotic city of Tangier,

teams rocked the Kasbah, but mistakes were made.

- Whoa, I may have just caught a break.

They forgot a gnome.

- [Phil] And advantages were gained.

- We're the last team here at the Roadblock,

so I need this right now so I'm not gonna say anything.

- [Phil] The exhausting day took a toll on Cedric.

[Cedric retching]

- Sounds like somebody's hurling over there.

- [Shawn] Dude, you all right, man?

- [Cedric] I'm just tired.

It's just hard, bro.

- [Phil] Dropping Team Slam Dunk to the back of the pack.

- I ain't done. We ain't done.

You got to drag me outta here, Phil.

- Team Yale and Team IndyCar raced for the checkered flag.

- Where we goin'? - And in the end,

brains b*at out brawn.

Henry and Evan, I am pleased to tell you

you are team number one.

[Evan laughs]

Cedric and Shawn couldn't recover and came in last.

- Tough day. - But received some good news.

We just put some more time on the clock.

You guys are still in this race.

Nine teams remain.

Who will be eliminated next?

[Cedric yells]

[upbeat music]

[cat meows]

[boat horn toots]

Henry and Evan came in first place

and won a trip for two from Travelocity.

- This hotel looks awesome.

Look at the lobby. - Oo, it's so pretty.

My God, spa? - Looks like we'll

be well taken care of. - For a massage [laughs].

- [Henry] It's gonna be an awesome trip.

- Woo, we're goin' to Zurich!

- That's right.

- "Do you know the way to Saint-Tropez?

First fly to Nice."

- Teams are leaving Tangier, Morocco,

and flying over the Mediterranean Sea

to the South of France.

After arriving in Nice and driving along

the picturesque coastline of the French Riviera,

they'll make their way to Saint-Tropez,

a playground for the rich and famous.

When they arrive, they'll find their next clue

here at [speaking in French].

- Let's go? - Taxi?

- Can you just- - Oh,

there's a driver inside this one.

Can you- - Hi.

- [Henry] Hello, Sir.

- I think initially other teams thought

that we were a purely brainy team

and we wouldn't be able to compete on a physical plane,

but winning first place on leg number three

was confidence building for us.

I'm ready to get my tan on.

- Oh, yeah.

- [Driver] Tangier Airport, please.

- [Conor] Drive yourself to Saint-Tropez.

- Okay, we will.

[Conor laughs]

People think because we're racing drivers,

the self drive is gonna be a huge advantage,

but we have to follow the same laws as everyone.

- I think speed limits are incredibly-

- Important. - Unfair,

but we have to obey them. [Alex laughs]

- Completely. [Conor chuckles]

Rules. Fun.

- I think we have a decent idea of how to drive.

- Turn left, turn left. - I go turn left.

- Turn left.

- As pro athletes,

I feel like we both do well under pressure,

but you do become addicted to adrenaline.

- We're not turning left.

Why aren't we turning left? - Oh, we can't.

It's one way.

- It's totally healthy. - Totally.

- It's healthy.

Antsy pants.

- [Chris] My French is...

- Tres bien?

- Eh, we'll go with bien.

I wouldn't put a tres on the beginning of that.

- [Trevor] Tres bien.

- The airport's 'bout clicks from here.

We are going to Saint-Tropez. - Saint-Tropez.

You can walk with your shirt off there,

so you'll be able to get

a nice tan. - I honestly don't know

what it is.

- It's a island.

- You know that Dionne Warwick song, "Do You Know the Way?"

You should know it, man.

You're from San Jose.

"Do You Know the Way to San Jose?"

- [Daniel] "Do you know the way to Saint-Tropez?

Fly to Nice."

- [Eric] I think a lot of the people

in France go there to vacation.

- Hopefully we won't end up in speedos for our sake

and for the audience's sake.

- [Lucas] I don't know why you're stressing, babe.

- Because we're crawling

down the street. - We've been doing poorly

- The people - because we stress.

- are walking past us.

After nine years of relationship,

when people start saying,

"Hey, why doesn't he wanna marry you?"

It kinda gets to you.

- Look at this sign. - I'm not stressing.

- Toilet paper, paper towels. - I'm simply acknowledging.

- Nannies.

- [Brittany] My father doesn't really think that Lucas

is interested in going down that road.

- This is a great opportunity to show her family

that I love her very much,

and I wanna be with her.

- Try to find where we are so we know where we're going.

- On the last leg, we incurred a Speed Bump.

Fortunately for us, it looks like we're all booked

on the same flight.

Me bein' years old and havin'

had three heart att*cks before,

no way in the world you could prepare yourself for the race.

To the other season's participants

that I've been yellin' at my television, I'm so sorry.

I apologize.

It is harder than it looks.

Saint-Tropez.

Oo, ee, this is beautiful.

I hear my man Diddy talkin' about it all the time.

Can't wait to get there and see

what the big deal is all about.

[anticipatory music]

[upbeat music]

[singer vocalizing]

[music continues] [vocalizing continues]

[music continues] [vocalizing continues]

[music continues] [vocalizing continues]

[music fades]

[gentle Parisian music]

- Run, run! - Yeah, that's open, Eric.

- There they are. - Come on, baby.

Come on.

Yes! - Let's go, come on, come on.

- Over here. - Go, go, go.

- Okay, here we go.

- [Cody] "Drive yourselves to Saint-Tropez?"

- [Jessica] Yeah.

- [Henry] Let's go.

- Thank you. - Great job.

- That was stressful.

- [Eric] Where Henry and them went

was probably the right way.

M to- - Yeah, look,

we're going the wrong way.

It says AA [speaking in French].

We don't need to do that.

We'll turn it around.

The day before I left,

my wife had a baby and so I got to hold him

and be with him that night,

but I had to leave early that morning for the race.

So the money would be a game changer for us.

We're here for the kids back home.

I don't know how to put this thing in reverse.

Oh, this ain't good.

There.

Eric, you might get out and push this thing back, man.

- Well, put it in neutral.

Come on.

- [Daniel] I really can't figure out

the reverse on this thing.

- Let's go.

[playful music]

All right, come on.

- This is like calling me.

I wanna go up there.

I know we're going to the water,

but I wanna go up there.

- [Kristi] Don't smile your way through the turn.

- I raced in this part of the world for about six years,

so I've driven this road a lot.

- [Conor] This is our leg.

- This is absolutely amazing.

Babe, let's move here.

- No. - [chuckles] Okay.

That was quick.

- Unless they got the Constitution

and Bill of Rights and all that.

- [Jen] There we go, parking.

Is this us?

Are we the first ones here?

- [Kristi] I think so.

[upbeat music]

- [Jen] Clue Box.

Oh my God, Kristi.

- Oh, no, that's a Speed Bump. - That's a Speed Bump.

Let's do this.

"Who's ready to break wind?"

- At this time of year on the French Riviera,

Saint-Tropez hosts an annual regatta

that showcases the most beautiful racing yachts

in the world.

But before sailing one

of these beautiful ocean going vessels,

you have to learn how to sail on one of these.

More children have learned to sail

on an Optimist than any boat on the planet.

In this Roadblock teams will be thrown

in the deep end as they attempt

to sail list petite dingy without a lesson.

If they can stay afloat and pick up two halves

of a clue tied to these buoys,

they can return to their partner and choose a Detour.

- [Jen] Kristi, you got this.

- Woo! - Travel south

from the marked bin.

- [Jen] Okay, let's do this.

It's beautiful!

Oh my God, this is amazing.

Woo!

- We're the first team here.

- [Jen] You got this.

- [Alex] Oh, we're not the first.

- "Who's ready to break wind?"

- Guess I am. [Conor laughs]

- [Instructor] Go the right buoy, okay?

The wind direction comes here.

- We b*at the boys [laughs]!

Yay!

Yeah, Kristi!

Woo!

- [Alex] Let's go.

I'm gonna sail the hell outta some stuff, tell you what.

[Kristi grunts]

- [Kristi] Oh boy.

- All right, Kristi.

This looks extraordinarily difficult.

- [Kristi] No!

Oh no!

Come on, boat!

- [Jen] This is gonna be hard.

- [Alex] This'll be fun.

Oh boy.

It's a bit choppy out here.

- [Conor] Oh my gosh.

- [Jen] What is he doing?

- Come on, Alex, do something.

This looks like the Titanic of Saint-Tropez.

- [Alex] This is hard!

- [Conor] That's a long way out there.

- [Jen] That's really far.

- "Who's ready to break wind?"

I'll do it. - Okay.

- [Jen] Good job, Kristi!

I think she's figuring it out.

There's like, forward progress happening.

- I think she's- - Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Look at that, she's uttering. [Conor laughs]

- [Kristi] More wind.

Here we go.

Yay, look at this!

- Woo!

She's sailing!

- Hey guys. - Hey.

- Hi, darlings. - Hi, what's up?

Yeah, good job.

- [Cody] What do we gotta do?

- Oh, you don't wanna know.

It took 'em all of minutes just to leave this shore.

- Oh, is that him right here?

- Yeah. [Jessica laughs]

- Probably thinks he's doing it right, but he's not.

Yeah, Alex.

That's good [laughs]. [Jessica laughs]

And that's Kristi out there by the first buoy.

- [Jessica] Oh my God.

- [Conor] She's there.

- [Jessica] Yale's not here?

- No. - No, they're not here yet.

- Interesting.

[Jen laughs]

- I should probably just do it, right?

- Yeah, yeah, yeah. - 'Cause you're driving.

- Come on, buddy.

She's so close.

- Approaching my first clue.

- [Jen] Good job, Kristi!

- [Jessica] Is there another team here?

- [Evan] "Grab a sail from the marked bin."

- [Jen] Yale's here.

- [Jessica] Babe, you're gonna k*ll this.

I'll massage you later.

- I'm not offering that to Alex.

[Jessica laughs]

- So, this is that Saint-Tropez

everybody's been talkin' about.

- [Chris] I see sailboats.

- All right, all right, what do we got, what do we got?

All right, we're gettin' close.

- This it? [Cedric speaking French]

Look, that's a surf thing.

I don't know.

[horn honking]

Unless we wanna look for- - No.

Let's get back in.

- [Shawn] You wanna get back in the car,

look for somethin' else?

- It's hard to tell.

Is it goin' this way, this way?

- [Eric] We're headin' north again.

- [Daniel] So, if I turn around one more time.

- [Eric] All right.

- [Daniel] So find somewhere

where we can get out and park it.

- [Eric] There.

Come on [indistinct].

- [Brittany] Go right, just go right.

- That's not it.

- [Brittany] Where did you turn off?

- Babe, come on, now.

Come on, babe.

Help me find where I need to go.

Come on.

God, so annoying.

Your only job was to get me to the other zone.

Let me go to the gas station, you can ask.

[Lucas sighs]

We talked about this.

- [Jen] Good job, Kristi!

Yeah, Kristi!

- Hopefully into shore is easier.

- Let's go.

- [Jessica] Oh, gosh [laughs].

Oh no.

I shouldn't be laughing.

- All right.

- One hand for the direction,

one hand for the sail.

- [Conor] You got this.

Come on, Alex.

Woo! Yeah! [Conor clapping]

Keep goin', Alex!

- [Jen] Nice freaking job, Kristi!

- [Jessica] Rockstar.

- [Conor] That was impressive.

- [Jessica] Cody, use the wind.

- [Cody] This is absurd.

- [Jessica] I think it takes some trial and error.

- Alex, like, that's the wrong way.

We got so close and now Alex is going further away.

Gosh, I hope he's not coming back here with half the clue.

- [Jen] Great job, Kristi.

You just slayed that.

- [Henry] All right, let's go Ev.

Oh, yeah.

- Woo! - Nice! You got it.

- [Evan] Oh my God.

- [Henry] You're okay, you're okay.

- [Evan] Oh, man.

- We have have our clue in two pieces.

All right, Detour.

- billion of these irresistibly delicious baguettes

are consumed in France every year.

Teams must use pounds of dough

to make traditional baguettes

to the satisfaction of Hassim, the master baker.

Here in Saint-Tropez, the Rodini family have been making

the classic Tropeziennes sandal since ,

something teams will now do under

the watchful eye of Mr. Rondini,

who will ensure they meet his very high standards.

- All right, do you wanna head

to the vehicle? - Let's go.

We're gonna do the Tread.

- Good luck you guys.

We'll see you soon. - Bye.

Good luck. - I doubt it.

[Jessica laughs]

- All right, I need the map of the city.

- [Conor] I mean, he is going the wrong way, so.

[Alex groans]

- [Jessica] Oh my God. - He's comin' back,

with only half a clue.

Are you serious, he only has half?

- [Jessica] Yeah, he did not go to the second buoy.

- [Conor] Such a huge waste of time.

- Trevor will do it.

- You're doin' it? Okay.

- [Jessica] He's way too far off course.

He's blowing back to shore.

Nice save! [Jessica clapping]

- Oh my gosh, Alex. - Okay?

- That's really frustrating - Good?

- [Conor] 'cause we had such a lead.

The details do seem to be our biggest problem.

- [Alex] I just didn't read the clue.

- It just takes a second.

- Normally when you read a sentence,

you just summarize and you're right,

but here every single it and each and of

makes a really big difference.

- Or both.

- Or [laughs]...

- You must get both clues. - Enough.

Thank you. Yeah.

You need the clue from both buoys apparently.

Oh my Lord.

- [Jessica] The Violinists just got here.

- [Conor] Oh my gosh, we just lost a huge gap.

- [Chris] Lucky [chuckles].

- [Jessica] Oh, God.

This is really painful.

- All right, I'll do it.

Let's do it. - I mean,

I think you can do this. Here.

- [Conor] I hate this.

This is horrific.

- We came down here already.

That's where we turned at the first time.

You better go to the damn gas station again.

We goin' the wrong way.

- We can't make these type of errors and stay in.

I'll be very surprised if we are able

to pull out of this one.

All right.

- [Lucas] We have a map and we keep doing this.

Come on.

[Brittany sniffling]

Why do you do this?

Stop it.

[Brittany sniffling]

Come on, come on.

- [Brittany] I'm doing this

because this is the way you're treating me.

All right?

[dramatic music]

[intense music]

- I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

- Asked you a million times not to do this

to me on camera. - I'm sorry.

I messed up there, so I apologized to her

and that's how relationships work.

- Saint Tropez is over there.

- We're learning from each leg of the race.

- How to work better together.

- I'm sorry, sweetie.

- Yeah, babe.

I'm gonna make him suffer

just a little bit longer [chuckles].

- Coming in for the draft.

Time to pop out.

- [Jessica] Cody seems to have figured it out.

- [Alex] This is crazy.

- [Conor] Does he have it?

Does he have it?

Yes!

- All right.

[Conor clapping]

- [Conor] Let's go.

- [Jessica] You're doing so good, babe!

- [Henry] Come on, Evan.

- [Evan] I haven't gone forward at all.

I've just gone to the side.

[groans] This is so frustrating.

What am I supposed to be doing?

Oh, man.

Feel like I'm barely moving.

- [Henry] Keep it up, Evan.

- [Evan] This is so frustrating!

- [Trevor] I was not prepared for this.

- [Chris] Oh, Trevor.

- [Trevor] Damn it.

- [Chris] Don't forget to concentrate.

[Trevor chuckles]

- [Trevor] That was not effective.

- [Tim] Oh man, Joey's taking on some water.

[groans] Come on, Joey.

Oh man.

You're good at this stuff.

I know you are.

I know you're gonna do this.

- Damn it.

- [Cody] Comin' in hot.

- [Conor] Look at your boy.

- [Jessica] Did he get it?

- [Tim] I think he did, yeah.

- [Jessica] You did so good, babe!

- [Cody] All right.

- [Henry] You got this, Evan!

[Evan grunts] [anticipatory music]

- Oh no, no, no.

I feel so dumb right now.

Damn it!

Oh my God.

Every time I move the sail,

it blows me in the wrong direction.

[dramatic music]

Am I stuck on something?

- [Henry] You're real smart, you'll figure it out.

[music continues]

- Here we are, Speed Bump. - Speed Bump.

[Shawn laughs]

- Stack 'em high.

- Because Cedric and Shawn arrived last in the previous leg,

they must now complete a Speed Bump,

moving of these Optimist boats.

Once they've stacked them all in numerical order,

they can continue racing with the other teams.

- Okay.

"Find the boats that need to be stowed near a dock."

Right here, Ced.

- [Cedric] These are the racks.

"Stow boats in numerical order, left to right."

So, one, two, three. - Two, three.

- All right. - Oh my God.

We're stackin' boats.

Quick.

[Shawn panting]

That Speed Bump was basically to move little sailboats

from the beach to the shelf.

Got it, go ahead, go ahead.

I got it.

And put 'em in a numerical order.

- It was perfect for us. - Yeah.

- It was just pure hard manual labor.

[Shawn groans]

All right, easy.

Stackin' 'em up.

- [Shawn] I don't do manual labor jobs anymore [laughs].

- It was tedious, - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

- but we just had to bear down and do it.

Come on, baby. Come on, come on.

- We're almost halfway there.

- Don't over exert ourself.

[Trevor speaking in French]

- Trevor is currently rowing the boat

instead of sailing the boat.

Trevor's kind of getting close to the buoy.

I don't think this is the way the Roadblock

was intended to be done,

but if he gets that clue on that sailboat,

I'm all about it.

- This is not smooth sailing as it were.

- Captain Ahab! - Looking good, man,

looking good.

- Think I got it.

Think I got it.

- Joey just figured somethin' out right now.

- Woo!

Joey and Jessica!

- [Chris] Yes, Trevor. Come on.

Yes, honey!

- Come on, Joey.

I think he's got this.

I think he got it.

He's right, he's touching it.

[Tim clapping]

I mean, he's just goin'.

Evan is kinda struggling.

She is about feet from shore and seems

to have no idea what she's doing still.

- [Evan] I'm literally not moving.

- I guess there's no sailing class at Yale.

And hopefully, this just goes on and on forever.

Hope that Phil takes a boat out to her and tells her,

"Okay, go into shore."

- [Evan] I'm paddling as hard

as I can and I'm just not moving.

- [Henry] Look, I think you'll figure it out.

I totally believe in you.

- Oh! [metal clangs]

- You okay?

- [Evan] I just broke my tooth.

- [Henry] You broke your tooth?

No, no, no, no.

- It was choppy and I was trying to control the sail,

and the boom just caught me right in the mouth.

- [Henry] Do you wanna come back?

- I put my hand to my face and when I came down

I just saw a big chunk of tooth [laughs]

that I dropped in the ocean and tried to just keep going.

- My only thought was, "Wow, she's really tough.

But I already knew that."

Oh, no.

She looks amazing.

Cutest chip ever. [Evan laughs]

- [Evan] Okay, take two.

- [Jen] Parking, Du Nouveau Port.

- [Kristi] Oh yeah, we're good, we're good.

Bonjour.

Can we make some sandals?

[Mr. Rodini speaking in French]

- Merci.

- Merci.

I feel okay about this right now.

Okay.

This has to come through here,

underneath and then over top.

The directions for the Tread challenge

is to assemble a pair of sandals.

Like, here's the bottom of the sandal

and here's the top of the sandal

and that's what it should look like.

So, it was mainly just attention to detail.

- [Kristi] This is really tough to get through.

- I missed one little loop over here.

[upbeat music]

- It's right there. - All right, all right.

- Were you gonna- - Oh gosh.

Let's do it.

- We have to put on the uniform.

- Grab the baker.

- [Cody] Show us the proper way to make the baguette.

- So, the first step of the bread making

is you get a massive

like dough rectangle. - Dough box.

- Yeah, dough rectangle.

- [Alex] And then you have to cut it in an area

where you think is between and grams.

- Smells amazing.

- And then you just had to roll it inside.

You just had to make it look good.

All right, that's it.

- Good choice, guys. - Whoa, is that all?

- [Jessica] Babe, we're making baguettes in France.

- [Cody] I don't even know what a baguette is.

- Oh, I feel like a good baguetteist.

[playful music]

- [Chris] Woo!

Yay, Trevor.

- [Tim] Come on, Joey!

Yeah, man.

Woo!

- I see Team Yale here. - Okay.

- [Shawn] Can't trust 'em with that thing.

- [Cedric] Come on, focus, focus.

Bumpin' you. - You bumpin' me?

- Yeah. - How you bumpin' me?

- It wasn't bumpin' before.

Knock it out the park.

- [Shawn] damn boats.

- [Shawn and Cedric] Thank you.

- We was really prepared for that Speed Bump.

Our size actually can be an advantage

or a big disadvantage to us depending

on what the situation is and what the challenge is.

- I'm ready to break wind. - You sure?

- Yes, Sir.

- [Shawn] Go, Ced.

Let's go, baby.

Oh my God.

That looks like a little kid boat [laughs].

- [Cedric] Never sailed before,

but I gotta knock this out for me and my teammate

to get back in this game.

- "Who's ready to break wind?"

You are. - I'll do it.

- [Henry] Great job, Evan.

Nice, you got it.

- [Shawn] Oh, she's doin' it?

- [Henry] She's starting to get the hang of it.

- After trying several times unsuccessfully

to paddle to the first buoy,

I finally figured out to go far down to the left

so that the wind would catch me

and kind of pull me diagonally to the far right buoy.

Wind's blowing this way.

- [Cedric] It's real choppy out there.

- Here we go, baby. [Shawn clapping]

- [Instructor] Try to go at the first red buoy, okay?

- It's all you, babe.

Lucas is starting the Roadblock.

Thankfully it's a water challenge

and there's two other teams here.

One hasn't showed up yet.

So that makes me a little bit more optimistic

than when I thought originally [laughs].

- [Lucas] I just gotta tack right and get away

from these shallow spots.

- [Brittany] Good job, Lucas.

- Come on, baby, come on, baby.

I see you, I see you.

[Cedric grunting]

That Speed Bump was made for us,

but too bad these boats wasn't [laughs].

[Cedric panting]

- [Brittany] Cedric's boat's capsizing.

- [Cedric] Boat's got too much water in right now.

He's about to sink.

- As a lifeguard I feel very compelled

to go and help him right now.

- [Shawn] Man, he too big for the boat.

- [Brittany] He can figure it out.

- There's no way.

That boat's too small for him, man.

- I've seen big guys like that do it, though.

- [Shawn] You're too heavy.

- Shawn, he's gotta do it.

He can do it.

- No, he can't.

- [Brittany] He just, he can't keep his legs out.

He's gotta stay in the boat. - It's too hard, man.

There's no way.

- It's possible.

He's just gotta stay in the boat and center it.

You got it, Lucas!

You're my awesome water, man.

I love you.

- Damn.

- Listen, no matter what happens, just don't give up.

There's still two teams here.

One team hasn't even showed up.

- You're doing that 'cause my Roadblock's

been pushin' you backwards all day.

- [Henry] Great job, Evan.

- [Shawn] Good job, Evan.

- Right now it's kind of a race with Evan.

She's got one half the clue.

Come on, baby!

- [Lucas] Oh, come on, come on.

- [Daniel] People still here.

- [Eric] Come on, come on.

Everything quick.

It ain't over till it's over.

[upbeat music]

- We have done.

- Good? - Take a look.

- [Conor] What?

- [Alex] Okay, okay, there's something wrong with them.

Roll. - What does that mean?

Okay.

- Okay.

- What is he telling us now?

- You have to roll.

- But that's exactly what we were doing.

- No.

He did this.

Did you get that? - No.

I had no idea.

- Stop getting frustrated.

Trust me.

- Okay, what do you want me to do?

- Make that.

- I hate not being able to do things,

so if I'm not succeeding at something,

I just hate it immediately.

This is so stupid.

- [Jessica] Oh I can taste that.

I want it so bad.

- [Jen] You just gotta hammer some nails, girl.

- [Kristi] Yeah.

Oo, that was not a good nail right there.

- All right, Kristi, I am done unless

they tell me that this one's not pulled through enough.

- [Kristi] Okay.

- [Mr. Rodini] More flat.

- [Jen] Okay. Flat.

- [Kristi] So, our nail heads

didn't go in quite flat enough,

so we're gonna try this again.

- [Jen] All about the details.

- [Henry] Keep goin', come on.

Keep racin'.

- [Brittany] Come on, Lucas!

- [Henry] Almost there, Evan!

- [Brittany] Looks like he got the last part of the clue.

- [Chris] Oh my God, she's so close.

- Great job, Evan!

You got it!

- [Eric] Let's go, Daniel.

Let's go!

- [Daniel] Oh, man.

We ain't doin' so well.

- [Cedric] Come on.

I don't know how to sail it right.

- [exhales] Man.

Come on, Ced!

[Cedric exhales]

He's strugglin' tryin' to paddle a kid boat.

This is tough, man.

[dramatic music]

- [Eric] Oh, where's my brother at?

- [Shawn] Oh my God, he's way out the way.

- [Eric] Oh, no.

- [Daniel] I'm not even gettin' a bit closer to this thing.

- He's in a Bermuda Triangle.

He's stuck in that corner over there

and hasn't really made any progress since we've been here.

- [Daniel] Yeah, there's gotta be a way to do it,

I just had no idea where to even start.

It's ridiculous.

- This is tough to watch, man.

It's like it's a m*rder.

It's a m*rder scene out there.

Oh my God.

There's no way.

[Cedric exhaling]

- [Eric] Man, that's tough.

- [Shawn] He's sinkin' again.

[Cedric groaning]

- No!

- [Shawn] He tipped it again.

It's a wrap.

Man.

[dramatic music]

- [Eric] Let's go, Daniel!

- [Shawn] Come on, Ced.

What's up, man?

How you doin'?

[dog whines]

[Shawn kissing]

Lookin' for some food?

- Don't give up.

Let's go!

Daniel hasn't got through any of the buoys yet.

Cedric's been out there for awhile,

so we're fighting for last.

Come on, Daniel!

- [Daniel] Just trying to figure this thing out.

- Come on wave. - Keep goin' forward.

All right, come on.

- I just bobbed back and forth like a cork for awhile,

and finally it clicked that I had to keep it

at an angle where it's catchin' the wind.

- [Eric] Good job.

- [Daniel] And it was actually fun after that.

- [Eric] He mighta learned to sail.

Daniel, good job!

Keep goin'!

Come on!

- [Shawn] Come on, baby, let's go.

- [Cedric] There we go.

- [Cedric] Okay, okay, okay.

Get out there, get out there.

Use the wind, use the wind, use the wind.

- Out there on the water you had to use technique.

It was physical strength really had nothin' to do with it.

- I see you, baby, I see you.

He goin' in the right direction.

Okay, he gettin' it, he gettin' it.

Okay.

Look at him.

He's going, he's headin' straight for it.

Oh my God, I see you, buddy.

He got the hang of it a little bit.

- It was just a technique and the right timing of the wind,

and that's all it takes.

- [Shawn] Captain Ced, Captain Ced!

I don't hear the family singing yet.

If the other challenges are really hard,

you can actually catch somebody.

[air whooshing] [dramatic music]

- [Kristi] We don't know where we're at now

with the other teams.

Nobody's come here.

- [Jen] Okay.

[Jen speaking in French]

- [Mr. Rodini] Tres bien.

- Oh, Merci! - Merci!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Okay, let's go outside. - All right, we'll go outside.

"Time to go Head-to-Head.

Battle against another team - No freaking way.

- and the part of the French pastime

known as petanque." - Petanque.

[upbeat guitar music]

- French towns are famous

for having beautiful squares like this.

Today, this idyllic park will not only serve

as the pit stop,

but also where teams will face

a second Head-to-Head competition on "The Amazing Race."

Teams will face off in a high stakes game of petanque.

The winner checks in with me at the pit stop.

The loser must battle the next team to arrive.

The final Head-to-Head will end with the elimination.

- Okay? - Okay.

Here we go again.

- [Jen] We could go home.

- [Kristi] Yeah.

- [Jessica] We have done.

- [Cody] "Now starting with your first tray,

ask the baker to show you

how to roll out the baguette for baking."

- Okay, you've done this before, huh?

- [Alex] Man, they're really knockin' 'em out.

- [Jessica] This could literally be for first place.

- Try and get 'em a little more consistent.

- There's seven baguettes left to roll.

- Okay?

- They're gettin' 'em inspected right now.

- [Conor] Cool?

- Okay.

- Okay. - God.

- The IndyCar racers just got theirs inspected.

- [Conor] All right, we can do this.

We can play this game.

- Okay.

- Okay.

- [Mr. Rodini] Hello.

- Hello. - Bonjour.

- [Trevor] Bonjour.

- [Chris] Hello.

- We chose to be cobblers today and make sandals.

- Okay.

- Okay, this looks right, yes?

- Oh, tres bien. - Oh!

- Wait, get this guy, though.

Make sure it's that way. - Okay.

- Trevor is absolutely the Martha Stewart of our apartment.

He's kind of like that Jackie

of all trades. - Gay.

- You're saying gay. - Gay, he's gay.

- [Trevor] Yes, I was obsessed with Martha Stewart.

[playful music]

[intense music]

- Hey. - Hey, y'all.

- What's up, boys?

- [Eric] Come on, Gilligan!

Hold steady.

You're doin' good!

Woo!

- It's actually kind of fun like this.

It's amazing what happens

when you do somethin' right [laughs].

- [Shawn] Come on, Ced!

Work, work it, work it, work it, work it, work it, work it!

There you go, baby.

There you go.

- [Eric] Come on. Hurry up.

Good job. Come on!

- [Shawn] Come on baby, come on baby.

I see you, I see you!

There you go, baby.

Come on, Captain Ced!

Land ho, land ho.

- [Eric] They just gotta get the boat to the shore.

- [Shawn] They know where we at.

You don't know what everybody else is doin'.

- [Jen] Over here.

We need to grab a number.

- One. - Great.

We're the first team here.

[playful music]

[Joey sighs]

- [Joey] You know a bakery would've been warmer.

- [Tim] Never seen a guy sweat so profusely.

- I drink a lotta liquids

and it's part of my training for eating.

I keep my stomach stretched and loose with liquids,

even if I'm not eating a ton of food.

So, I get rid of water one way or another [laughs].

Jesus Louise.

- Monsieur?

- Monsieur? - Oui, Monsieur?

Oh, wow. It's good?

- Ah! - Good job, guys.

- Merci. - Howdy, guys.

[Trevor speaking in French]

- Okay, seems pretty easy.

[band singing in foreign language]

- Look for the numbers.

- [Jen] Hey, guys.

- Oh, man. - Oh, we're goin' against you.

- Yep.

- Let's just have some fun playing yard games.

- Right here. - Okay.

"The object is to get you balls closer

to the jack than your opponent's,

with each team member throwing three balls per round.

After each throw, the team not closest

to the jack takes the next throw."

All right. - Let's do it.

- Alex and Conor have turned up,

so we're ready for our first Head-to-Head.

♪ Dun, dun, dun

- Two legs ago this Head-to-Head

was introduced to "The Amazing Race,"

and it really changes things

'cause you can literally arrive

at the mat first and be eliminated.

All right, I'll go Jen? - All right.

- More than ever anybody

can win this race. - It just takes

one small mistake.

- We have Kristi and Jen right now

going up against Alex and Conor.

Cody and Jessica are now waiting

for who they might be playing next.

- [Kristi] No, that was terrible.

- [Jen] It's okay.

[dramatic music]

- [Referee] White place.

- [Conor] Get it in there!

Oh my gosh.

- [Alex] Conor has come up short on his first throw.

Because he's short, he has to play his second bowl.

Nice. [Alex clapping]

- [Referee] Black place.

- Alex and Conor just took the lead.

Because Conor's ball is closest to the jack,

it has forced Kristi and Jen to play.

- [Jen] That's way too left.

- Yes!

- [Phil] Alex and Conor still have the lead.

- You got this, girl.

- [Jen] Settle in, settle in, settle in.

- [Alex] Oh, yeah!

- [Kristi] I believe in you, Jen.

- [Jen] Get in there, get in there.

Knock 'em out.

Come on, get in there! - Oh, yes!

[Kristi clapping]

- [Referee] White place.

- Yes! - That's a beautiful sh*t.

Not only did she hit the jack,

but she actually drew the jack away.

As long as their ball is closer to the jack,

it forces Alex and Conor to have to play.

- [Alex] Oh, Conor!

Yeah!

- [Referee] Black place.

[Conor laughs]

- I have never played this game, ever.

- Conor has taken the lead again.

- [Jen] All right, Kristi, you're up.

- Kristi and Jen have two more bowls.

- No, no, no, no, no. - No, no.

Oh!

[Kristi groans]

- [Phil] Kristi and Jen have one bowl left.

[dramatic music]

- [Jen] Get in there, get in there.

Oh!

Snap. - White wins.

- Oh, yeah! - Looks like I can

throw metal balls.

- [Alex] Let's get to the mat, eh?

- What's up, Phil? - What's up?

- And lovely lady?

- Welcome to Saint-Tropez, France.

- Merci.

- Well, you are team number one.

- We win now?

- And I do have - That's good.

- some great news for you.

You've got $, each.

- Let's go [laughs]! - And you can enjoy that

at the end of the race. - Woo!

- My first win in many years,

so I'm very excited, yeah. - It's about time.

I love competition.

I had to deliver in the moment and we did thankfully,

so finally we can get a win.

- Congratulations. - Thank you guys.

- [Lucas] Hey, was anybody still at the sailboat?

- Yeah. - Yeah.

- Yale was still there? - Yale was right behind us.

- Oh.

- [Joey] Is that good?

Oh, thank you.

- Merci, Merci [speaking in French].

- Merci.

- Maybe I can sweet talk them into like, doing it for me.

- Hey, guys.

Bonjour.

- After losing the first Head-to-Head,

Kristi and Jen are now up against Cody and Jessica.

[dramatic music]

- [Kristi] Oh, that's gonna be good.

- [Jen] Wow.

- Oh my God.

- [Phil] Jessica has thrown a bowl

that is an inch away from the jack.

- It's amazing.

[anticipatory music]

- After that incredible toss - Oh! So close!

- [Phil] from Jessica, Kristi and Jen have to keep throwing

their bowls until they either knock Jessica's ball

out of the way or get even closer to the jack.

- Too far.

- Oh, these two guys.

Look at who's still here.

Joey, we're grabbin' five.

- Unless Jen can get the bowl closer to the jack,

they'll lose their second Head-to-Head.

[dramatic music]

- Kidding me, that was a horrible bounce.

- White wins.

- This is the second loss for Kristi and Jen,

and tremendous frustration for them

because they arrived here first.

[dramatic music]

[Jessica squeals]

- [Jessica] Carry me to the finish.

- That's a very dramatic finish.

[Cody laughs]

Cody considering how well Jessica

just played at petanque, you havin' a good time?

- She just pulled out that entire win for us.

- That was crazy, right? - I couldn't have done that.

Yes, yes?

Ah! - Yes!

- Great job you guys. - Thank you, thank you.

- [Brittany] Good luck.

- [Evan] You are killin' it with this nailing.

- [Phil] After arriving first,

this is the third head-to-head for Kristi and Jen

who are going up against Trevor and Chris.

- Yes! - That was pretty.

- Masterful.

- Jen and I allowed ourselves a few minutes to pout.

Then we just got over it 'cause those are the rules

of the game and we are ready for anything

that "The Amazing Race" can throw at us.

- [Phil] Trevor and Chris have one bowl left.

- Ugh.

Okay.

That's embarrassing.

- Woo hoo! - Oh my gosh.

- Black wins.

- Good job.

- Woo! - Man, that was crazy.

- We're doing a lot of things right,

and we need to continue to do that

and hopefully we'll be here at the end.

- [Phil] Thank you guys.

Congratulations. - Thank you.

- [Brittany] Six.

- You know how to play bocce?

- No, I don't play ball games.

- Trevor and Chris having just lost

are now up against our competitive eaters.

Tim and Joey right now are closer to the jack.

Trevor really has not gotta feel for this game.

He's trying all kinds of techniques.

Under arm, over arm, out of the game.

- Oo. - Oh, Trevor [laughs],

you're k*lling us.

Sports in general aren't one of the strengths

that we have in common.

- So wait, who won?

- Black wins.

- Woo!

Woo! - Hey [laughs].

- Right out of the gate, you guys had a feel for the game.

- Yeah. - We did our best,

and it worked.

- It's all right?

Merci, Monsieur. - Merci.

- [Henry] "Go to Place des Lices," which is over there.

- Nice!

- Trevor and Chris have lost two rounds

and they are now going up against Lucas and Brittany.

- Good job. - Oh!

- Good job.

- [Phil] Let's see if Trevor and Chris

have a better feel for the game this time.

- Oh, oh! - White wins.

- [Chris] Oh my God, I love you.

- [Phil] Trevor and Chris, you are team number five.

- Thanks, Phil. - Which must feel good?

- It doesn't feel as good as four it turns out,

but we'll take it.

- Through here.

- I've never laced sandals up before,

but I've definitely lace some tennis shoes up.

Plenty of those in my day.

- Yeah, we have a new respect for shoe makin'.

I guess you gotta put your sole into it.

- Oh. - Hey, I like it,

I like it, I like it to win.

[Eric laughs] [Daniel laughs]

- You better hurry up 'cause we're on your heels.

- [Eric and Daniel] Oh!

- [Phil] Lucas and Brittany are now facing

their second Head-to-Head

going up against Henry and Evan.

- At the first Head-to-Head, we raced seven times.

- [Evan] Whoa, turn, turn!

- [Henry] Oh, man.

- We were just worried about repeating

what had happened in Belgium.

- [Phil] Henry and Evan only have one bowl left.

[dramatic music]

- [Evan] Oh!

It's so close.

- Measuring tape was going out.

That's how close it is.

[suspenseful music]

- [Referee] White wins.

- Good job.

- Lucas and Brittany have now lost

their second Head-to-Head.

Your last Head-to-Head didn't really go so well.

This one went a lot better for you today.

- Yeah, we were one of the teams swooping in

to take the spot from another team

who'd been waiting longer than us.

So, I guess we paid it forward in a way.

[Henry laughs] [Evan laughs]

- Elimination is on the line right now.

- [Cedric] Yes!

- We're changing the nails on the sandals.

Not tight enough.

- Thank you.

Thank you. - Good job.

- The NBA guys just got it.

It's not looking good for us.

- [Shawn] Oh, let's go this way, let's go this way.

Come on.

We gotta play the game.

- Bonjour. - Ah, thank you.

- Thank you. - All right.

- [Cedric] What's the name of it?

- [Shawn] Market des Lices or whatever.

I can't even pronounce it.

[Cedric speaking in French]

That's not it.

- [Daniel] Gotta be in the park over here.

- Where? - This way.

- Park des Lices.

Yeah.

- I really think we have a better chance

with the firemen than the basketball players.

- [Daniel] All right, all right.

- Here comes the twins.

Come on, babe.

Let's do this.

- [Daniel] All right, let's give it a sh*t.

- [Phil] Lucas and Brittany

are up with their third Head-to-Head.

If they lose this, they'll have only one more chance

to stay in "The Amazing Race."

[suspenseful music]

- Whew.

- Oh.

- [Eric] Good job.

[suspenseful music]

- Ah!

- [Brittany] Ah! No!

- [Lucas] This sucks.

- I love these kind of games, though.

They're so much fun. - Yeah.

[Lucas groans]

[Brittany speaking in Spanish]

- Try to knock that thing out of the way.

- [Phil] Brittany and Lucas, one chance now.

They've got one more bowl to throw.

- God! - Babe?

- [Referee] White wins.

[Brittany gasps]

- Damn it.

- Brittany and Lucas have only one more chance

to stay in this race, and Brittany is beside herself.

The Head-to-Head, what do you think of it?

- It in our position, it's the golden key, you know?

- And Lucas and Brittany right now are consoling each other.

- It has to be demoralized to come in ahead of us

and losing this one thing.

It is brutal.

- Don't cry, don't cry.

- [Brittany] I'm over it.

[dramatic music]

[dramatic music]

I'm over it.

- Come on, babe. We got this.

Be fun, okay? [Brittany sniffling]

- I think the race is more of a mental game, you know?

- It'll be fine. - Okay.

- Okay?

- It's just been a long, exhausting, frustrating day.

I just wanna get it over with.

I kind of think of myself as a thoroughbred

who's spirit has been broken from losing too many times.

I am very competitive.

- Come on, come on. It's not over.

Let's get this. Let's do this.

Here comes the basketball players.

- Head-to-Head combat, huh?

- [Lucas] Hopefully we can b*at them.

Every single game we could have won.

Let's get it done. - Let's go.

We're gettin' busy.

- [Lucas] Let's play the game.

- [Phil] Good luck, guys.

- [Shawn] Good luck to you all, too.

- Okay? - Yeah.

- You're gettin' emotional. - Yeah, she is.

- [laughs] I can't help it.

- Team Hoops, we got this. - Game time!

[suspenseful music]

- Good job. - Oh.

- That's a good sh*t. - Coulda been better.

- [Lucas] Good job.

- Let's see if Cedric can find

his touch from the free throw line.

- [Shawn] That's a soft toss.

That's not hard enough.

Ain't put enough on it.

That's all right.

- You keep goin'. - Oh, keep goin'?

- You keep goin' till we get closer.

Let's go.

[dramatic music]

- [Shawn] Too far.

- That's way out. - Oh, don't do that.

[Cedric groans]

- Us again. - I was the NBA Champion ,

but if you've never played it before,

you still need to practice the game.

Come on now.

Oh, messed that up. - That's all right, man.

That's all right. - This is not basketball.

- [Phil] Cedric's trying to come around the outside

and he got the roll of the hill.

- [Shawn] Bam, we got it.

- [Phil] NBA had the lead.

- [Shawn] That was actually a great sh*t.

- [Phil] This is the last road from Brittany and Lucas.

[suspenseful music]

- [Shawn] Oh!

- [Phil] Huge play from Lucas.

Huge play.

NBA have two more sh*ts left now.

[Cedric groans]

- [Referee] Black play.

- [Cedric] Now you got to get closest.

Come on, one more, dog.

Take us home.

- [Phil] Uh oh, this is the last throw.

- Get closest, get close.

- [Shawn] Oh my God.

- [Referee] The white, winner.

- [Lucas] We won.

- [Cedric] Unbelievable.

Unbelievable come back.

- Congratulations. - Good job, guys.

- So sorry. - Oh, it's okay.

- Cedric and Shawn, after a final Head-to-Head,

you have been eliminated.

Cedric, obviously you're disappointed.

- I wanted to win.

I've been watchin' for seasons, my whole family,

and I wanted to win.

We put on a great show.

We just came out on the losing end of the race.

I can't complain.

I'm not even supposed to be here.

God has blessed me to fulfill another dream.

- We got through it together

and we win as a team and we lose as a team.

It hurt to lose but man, at the same time,

we gotta keep our head high

because we competed and it was amazing,

and I'ma salute it.

- [Cedric] [exhales] That's it.

[dramatic music]

- Drive to the medieval town

of Les Baux-de-Provence, France.

- Teams are now leaving the stunning coastline

of Southern France and driving miles inland to Les Baux,

famous for its Roman ruins,

sleepy villages and breathtaking landscapes,

inspiring famed artists like Picasso and Van Gogh.

Teams will find their first clue here at Chateau des Baux,

which they may recognize

from Season of "The Amazing Race."

- Welcome to Les Baux Provence.

You are team number one.

- All right. - Oh, man, see.

- All right. - Where the heck is that?

[Alex laughs]

We're driving again.

Driving is one of our favorite things to do.

We're leadin' the pack.

That's obviously nice for us.

This is a race I've watched since I was a kid.

Like the Indianapolis ,

something that is incredibly competitive

all across the world.

So, to be able to win would be awesome.

[Conor speaking in French]

Or eggs. - Eggs.

- Eggs on province for those Americans watching.

[Alex laughs]

- So, we're headed now to the Les Baux Chateau.

- You just called it a les-bar cha-tar.

I don't know if that's how you say it.

- It's like, les bo or les box, somethin' like that.

[Jessica laughs]

- Sounds right to me.

Definitely call it that when we get there.

- We take notes on lessons that we've learned

and things we can improve on.

So, we just need to continue learning

from each and every little mistake,

and I think that will keep us hopefully

in front of the pack.

- [Kristi] We're number one, we're number one.

[Jen laughs]

- We're excited about this leg.

This is the first leg we haven't had to fly anywhere.

So, it's wake up and race.

The longer the race goes on,

the more we realize that we have to worry about ourselves

and the decisions we make.

- We're feeling good about how we've improved.

We're just hoping it wasn't a fluke.

We don't think it was.

- [Joey] Time to be smart.

- We are gettin' better so far.

- : right now in the mornin'.

We are feeling sleepy and grumpy and bashful.

And all the dwarves.

- All the dwarves.

Which makes you Snow White.

[Chris chuckles]

- Drive to the medieval town

of Les Baux-de-Provence, France.

Medieval times.

- Good eats and good treats.

- We're leaving in sixth today,

which is not as well as we'd like to be doing.

But honestly, I am so happy to just be in the race.

During the pit stop, I got my tooth fixed.

So, I'm feeling brand new.

We've only been dating for a year and a half.

We're definitely learning new things

about one another on this race,

how focused and determined Henry can be.

- She is a total badass for keeping going

through that Roadblock even when she had

her tooth literally knocked out.

She's gonna be just as good on this one.

- "Drive to the medieval town

of Les Baux-de-Provence, France."

So, I guess it's like a castle.

The race is way tougher than we would've thought,

but we deserve to be here. - We deserve to be here.

- We love to do like physical things,

so we need challenges that are more in our favorite,

but we got what it takes to win.

It seems really cool.

I don't think

I've been anywhere- - I've been

to a medieval festivals in the States.

- Yeah, but nothin' like this.

I mean- - I don't really attend...

- All right, so now we have to figure out where that is.

Ready? - Let's go.

- The last leg was a very frustrating leg

for me specifically,

and that's something I gotta work on,

trying to control my frustration

and not really taking it out on Brittany,

but she's understanding, and this is why I love her.

- You don't stay together for nine years

if things don't work and we've had our ups and downs

and we've made the conscious decision

that no matter what we still wanna be together,

'cause there's no better match for me out there.

- She's the one I wanna marry,

she's the one I wanna be with.

My plans were to propose to her somewhere on this trip,

and I'll definitely know when the right moment is.

Honey, I love you.

- [Brittany] I love you, too.

- [Conor] Chateau des Baux.

- [Alex] This way.

- I'll get my headlamp goin' here.

I'm from Indiana for a reason.

They call me Indiana Jones.

I can check off walk through a castle city

at : in the morning off my bucket list [laughs].

- It's actually pretty badass.

Oh, brilliant.

It's closed.

:.

- [Conor] You've gotta be freakin' kidding me.

- [Jen] Well, this is cool.

- In France. - [speaking in French]

for another day.

Hey you guys. - About time.

- [Conor] Welcome to the party.

- [Kristi] So, what time do we have to wait till?

- [Alex] :.

- Shut the front door.

You guys, we're gonna get to watch the sunrise from here.

- [Conor] :, only four hours to go.

Everyone's gonna get here eventually, but we're first.

Yay!

[dramatic music]

- What's more beautiful than this?

And how lucky we are to be up with the sun.

Medieval France.

- Tres jolie.

[group chattering]

- My goodness.

- That's it.

- He opened the gate.

- Bonjour.

- [Jessica] [gasps] Oh my God.

- What the hell? - Nice.

- Oh my God. - Merci.

- Ah! - Oh my goodness.

Oh my God!

- Oh boy, look at this.

- What is that? - Oh.

What are we doin'?

[b*mb exploding]

- [Chris] What the hell?

[dramatic music]

- Merci! - Ah!

- Oh my goodness.

Get it! Clue!

- Oh [laughs].

- I can't feel my hands.

- Roadblock.

- "Who wants to get medieval on this Roadblock?"

- It's hard to imagine now,

but Les Baux was once the sight of bloody battles

that date back more than , years,

when weapons like this, - Yes!

- launched enormous pound boulders at the invaders.

In this Roadblock, teams must use these materials

to make this iconic w*apon,

and then transport it to a soldier

to ensure it's battle ready.

[solider speaking in French]

- They better be quick because their partner

will be held in the stockades until they get it right.

- I do. I think I'm good.

- All right, I'll do it.

- You wanna do it? - I'll do it.

Okay.

- I think you should do it. - Yeah, no, okay.

I'm gonna do this Roadblock.

- Eric? - I will.

- Wanna do it? - Yeah, I'll do it.

- Am I doin' it? - You should do it.

- Okay, all right.

- I'll do it.

I'm gonna do this Roadblock.

- [Conor] Oh boy, look at this.

[soldiers cheering]

- [Jen] It's a medieval castle.

- [Jessica] Holy moly. Amazing.

[soldier speaking in French]

- Holy cow. - That's crazy.

- Woo! - That's really cool.

- [Jessica] Holy!

[b*mb explodes]

- [Jen] That's wicked.

- [Alex] There's some history that's connected here.

[indistinct]

- [Henry] Down here, we just choose one of these.

- [Alex] Is this the work station?

- [Conor] I claim this one as mine.

- Oh, hi. Man handle.

I'm all right with that.

- What is this? - What's going on?

Oh, this is fun.

- Careful [speaking faintly].

- Okay.

- A little claustrophobic moment.

Claustrophobia.

- All right.

- Oh my God.

Not at all cool.

- Looks like I invested in some stock today.

- My life's on the line.

No pressure.

[dramatic music]

- [Evan] Is there like, an example?

- Looking at the model trebuchet

to figure out how the hell to build it.

- Pretty much like a catapult, just like that.

- It looks like he's taking a good look

at the example every now and then,

but being in the stockade definitely

makes me even more invested in his success.

[dramatic music]

- [Trevor] Okay, this first.

Okay.

- I just gotta move all this stuff around.

It's kind of heavy.

- Just lookin' at all the pieces,

makin' sure I've got the right ones here.

- Tim's not the most experienced builder.

- [Tim] Get medieval.

Precision is the game.

- [Lucas] Wheels next.

- Come on, baby!

Good job!

My hands are freezing.

Lucas is super good at putting things together.

He built a pergola from scratch for a friend's wedding.

- It was all kind of mixed up.

We had to put the pins in properly.

I knew I was gonna build the frame

and then a real support go in specific spots.

- I'm super glad that he's doing this and not me.

So cold.

- Cody, he wants to build houses after this race,

so like if he can build a house,

he can build a catapult, I hope.

- Time for walls.

- I mean I was a little distressed right now,

so he needs to build this catapult so he can save me.

- Time for the side.

Working on the wall.

- Kristi was clever in her use of the materials

and her attention to detail

because you had to do things in a specific order

in order to make a trebuchet.

- [Kristi] Time for the wooden pegs.

- [Jen] This Roadblock it was one girl

versus seven men. - All guys.

Jen and I are very used to competing against the men.

When we started in our sport, there was no women's division.

So, we have been fighting for women's involvement

in sport our entire careers, so there's no backing down.

- Kristi made sure she's getting all the pieces

right the first time around,

'cause I have a feeling getting

any of these pins out is gonna be virtually impossible.

- I don't know if I can get this out.

- If someone has to buy a piece of IKEA furniture,

Chris is never the one to assemble it.

- [Chris] Oh man, that's not gonna come back out.

- Ernest delivery of words of encouragement.

- Trevor was very encouraging in a specific way.

- [Joey] Focus Tim, focus.

- [Brittany] Concentrate.

- Other teams yell like, "Focus!

- [Trevor and Chris] "Concentrate!"

- [Jen] Good work, Kristi.

- [Evan] Good job, Hen!

- When someone's like, "You're doing such a good job.

Good girl," who does that help?

That sappy crap?

Don't take it so seriously.

I mean it's, we're having fun.

I'm clapping for you.

[Chris groans]

- That thing up here.

- Very uncomfortable.

Normally I'm the builder of the Rossi-Daly household,

so hopefully he can figure this one out.

- [Conor] I don't have any idea what I'm doing here.

- I'm confident in him.

He'll pull it off.

- Nope.

I'm not a very mechanically inclined person.

But I put together a LEGO once.

I'm happy to be in my century.

- Which one goes? - I don't know, I'm not sure.

- My pin wheel got messed up.

- There has to be an order in which you put things together.

- [Joey] I'm tryin', man.

I'm tryin'.

- [Daniel] Keep it simple.

He always calls me the stockier twin.

- I didn't know he invested in the stock market.

- [Daniel] Hammer time.

- Oh yeah, get it out there.

Henry looks great with that hammer [laughs].

- A lot of pounding.

- We don't normally have to build a ton of things

other than normal furniture,

but I can't say that it's that similar.

I'm stuck here until he gets it right

before I lose feeling in any limbs [laughs].

- [Soldier] Pull!

- Oh, wow.

Oh, wow.

Holy crap.

- Oh my God, that's incredible.

Super cool. [b*mb explodes]

- We finally made the right decision

on who does the Roadblock.

From my slavish position here,

it looks like he's movin' really well.

Maybe our luck will change this leg.

- Two little pins.

- [Brittany] You got it, baby!

- [Lucas] Can I get my work checked?

[suspenseful music]

- Not finished? Okay.

I'm just gonna double check everything.

- [Jessica] Cody, you're doing amazing.

- [Cody] Can I get my inspected?

[suspenseful music]

No good?

- Ah!

Yeah, this is backwards.

I noticed there were wheels on the bottom,

but I had put 'em the opposite way,

so I went back, flipped them around,

and we were off to the races.

Check.

- [Evan] Wow!

It's amazing.

[b*mb explodes]

- [Cody] Holy moly.

- Bring it in, bring it in.

Go baby, you got it, Lucas!

- Oui, oui [speaking in French].

- Good job.

- Okay, thank you. - Good job!

[soldier speaking in French]

- Lucas is done.

- [Henry] Oh, that sucks.

- Holy crap.

- Come on, now get me out of this thing!

[Lucas laughs] [Brittany laughs]

Good job, baby.

"The Cafe de la Fontaine,

and ask the man enjoying a glass

- [Brittany and Lucas] of red wine for your next clue."

- So, we're driving. Let's go.

- Knocked that outta the park. - Good job.

- [Brittany] Running it first.

Throwing that out there.

[Lucas chuckles]

- [Cody] I got a rope I gotta put on.

I need mine inspected.

[suspenseful music]

[soldier speaking in French]

- Yeah.

- [Jessica] Yes, he got it.

- Damn it.

[soldier speaking in French]

- [Jessica] Merci.

- I'm on Cloud right now.

- Kink in my neck.

Oh my God.

Come on, pay attention, pay attention.

- It's not comfortable to be in this little blockade.

It's hard enough to watch Roadblocks,

especially for people like me that are controlling,

but it looks like Kristi's pretty close to finishing.

- I'm waiting for a check.

- [Jen] Give us the thumbs up, give us the thumbs up.

- [Kristi] Yeah?

[soldier speaking in French]

[Kristi cheering] [Jen cheering]

[Chris groans]

- Merci, Merci. [soldier speaking in French]

- [Jen] Let me out of this damn thing!

That was really a good job.

- I gotta check the thing real quick.

I have to be doin' this harder than it is.

- Ruh roh.

This one's wrong and I put it in really hard [groans].

Oh man, I don't know how I'm gonna get that out.

That could be bad.

- [Eric] Check!

- Looks like he's doing pretty good

on this catapult here.

So, hopefully he can keep goin', moving, standing with it.

[soldier speaking in French] [Eric cheering]

- Oh yeah. - Get me out.

Come on, Eric, come on!

- [Tim] Holy crap.

- Just put this thing on and we're done.

- Still plenty of people here.

I think Henry's is really, really close to being done.

[soldier speaking in French]

- Merci. - Yay! Good job, Hen!

Oh, my elbows!

- [Henry] Let's go. Let's do it.

[Evan laughs]

- Yeah, buddy.

Figure that out.

Looks good, Christopher.

You have your tetanus sh*ts.

Don't be scared.

[Chris groans]

- I'm still pretty far away.

Ouch.

There goes my thumb.

That seems like it worked.

- Tim can do it.

Come on, Tim.

We can still b*at a couple teams.

Doin' great.

This is killin' me.

Oh, this is a nightmare.

- Cafe de la Fontaine,

right here on the left. - Okay, okay.

- It's a guy- - Enjoying a glass of wine.

- [Lucas] Are you enjoying your glass of wine?

- Yeah. - Yeah?

- Can we have our next clue?

- Yeah. - Thank you.

- [exclaims] Thank you.

"Detour. - Thank you.

- Full of Bull or Colorful?"

- In this part of France,

bulls are celebrated in places like Arles Arena,

built by the Romans almost , years ago.

The French version of bullfighting

is quite different than the Spanish one.

Here the bull fighter or [speaking in French]

enters the ring and attempts

to remove off a flag from between the bulls horns.

Teams will search among replica bulls

of different sizes to pick up a red, white, and blue ribbon.

Then present them to the lead [speaking in French]

for their next clue.

Vincent Van Gogh loved Arles so much,

he created over works here,

including paintings of this bridge,

which he painted six times over a six week period.

The result?

This iconic piece of artwork,

which teams will have to unlock,

to get their next clue.

Easy when you know how.

- Van Gogh is like super abstract, babe.

You wanna do Full of Bull?

- [Lucas] Yeah.

- Okay, we're gonna do Full of Bull.

- We gotta find somebody to tell us where to go.

- It's not even meters.

That's the man drinking a glass of red wine.

- How do we get to the- - How do we leave this circle

and get there?

- [Kristi] They're not drinking wine.

There he is.

- [Jen] Can we have our next clue, please?

- [Lucas] You want me to drive and you navigate me?

- [Brittany] Sure.

- Full of Bull.

Full of Bull it is, all right.

[dramatic music]

- There are three teams left including us,

which isn't super optimum,

but at least we're not the last team here.

- Oh, jeez!

- I'm a prisoner here. [Chris groans]

so, I don't have to worry about taxes

or tending to my crops, but it's cool.

Maybe I'll get out soon.

- [Chris] Check. Far one.

- [Trevor] Ernest words of encouragement.

- [Chris] Oui?

- Oui [speaking in French].

- Damn it.

- [Conor] This is quite frustrating.

- Freedom, liberty. - Hurry up.

You did really well.

[Trevor groans]

Au revoir.

- Yeah, my elbows are numb.

It doesn't look great.

He seems to be struggling a little bit right now.

It not like the example.

- [Conor] Can I get a check?

- No, no, no, no [speaking in French].

- [Conor] Not good? Okay.

- [Joey] Certain things are loose.

Tim's havin' a hard time.

- This is killin' me.

- [Tim] All right, check please.

- No, no [speaking in French].

[Tim groans]

- There was like, a big glaring error

that you're not gonna be able to get that bar in.

The thing's too narrow,

and you have to find a way to make it wider

and there's no way I could tell you what was goin' on.

- [Conor] There's always something

that you're missing I feel like,

but sadly, I just don't know what it is.

- [Tim] It has to be back.

God, you just get in there.

- [Joey] He just 'em and they're not upright.

The angles are off a little bit.

- [Tim] Why will that not fit?

- Could be wrong.

I don't know.

- [Joey] Oh my God, this is t*rture.

- [Tim] What the hell?

Unreal.

[dramatic music]

- [Joey] You got this, Tim.

- [Tim] This seems a little off.

Slide it over.

- There's two teams left.

Come on, Tim.

Tim's havin' a hard time.

During this race we've bonded a lot more

than we ever have during our and a half year friendship.

So, it was a little bit frustrating being

in a perfect position to watch,

but terrible position 'cause I couldn't help him.

You're a strong man, Tim.

- That hurt.

- [Conor] Nails were not supposed to be there.

I did the wrong thing.

- It seems from what I can see he made a lot of mistakes.

- [Conor] How in the world?

- They got loose?

Oh, 'cause of that damn wooden thing.

I had not centered the centerpiece perfectly,

and that affected how I placed the crossbar.

It wouldn't line up flush as well.

Looking good, Tim, looking good.

Looking good.

- [Tim] All right, check please.

[suspenseful music]

[solider speaking in French]

- [Tim] Thank you very much.

- [Joey] Oh, get me outta here!

[soldier speaking in French]

[Tim speaking in French]

- Thank God that we're movin' on.

- [Tim] I'm sorry, Joey.

- You're good.

Cafe de la- - Fontaine.

- [Tim] Thank you.

- [Alex] Actually the worst thing in the entire world.

- [Conor] Oh my God.

You need wheel nuts to roll something.

Here we go.

All it needed was wheel nuts.

Finally, my gosh.

Amazing what happens when you just do the right thing.

I think we got it this time.

Got all the wheel nuts on.

[dramatic music]

[Conor speaking in French]

[soldier speaking in French]

- [Conor] Merci, thank you very much.

- Thank God.

- [Conor] Let's get you outta here.

- [Alex] That was tough.

- Let's go. - Thank God.

[b*mb exploding] [dramatic music]

- Today's Roadblock was a little

bit different on skillset.

It was more lift and more building.

I like to see things go together

and that was exactly how it had to be done.

So I think it kinda played in our favor for sure on that.

- [Jessica] Can't believe we're losing

to the lifeguards right now.

- [Cody] Come on, Cafe de la Fontaine.

Yep, there it is.

You ready to run?

- [Jessica] I'm ready to run.

- [Cody] We're here for a clue.

- Merci.

- [Eric] Cafe de la Fontaine.

- Twins are here. - Good job, guys.

Good job.

- Full of Bull.

I knew you were gonna say that

'cause it's red, white and blue.

- Full of Bull.

- There's Team Yale right there.

- [Henry] Cafe de la Fontaine's right here.

- Let's do Colorful. - What do you wanna do?

- Yeah. - Yeah?

- [Henry] We're gonna do Colorful.

[dramatic music]

- [Jen] Does it say marked parking?

- [Kristi] "Park in the marked parking area."

- "Park in the marked on Rue de la Cavalry ."

- [Kristi] Yellow and red flag right to the right.

- To the right? - Yes.

- Oh my God. - Right on that tree.

- The girls are there. - Here, here, parking.

You see that tree?

On that tree?

- [Lucas] Yes.

- Didn't look like there was something that way, so let's...

That sounds like- - That's an arena.

[upbeat music]

- Let's go, let's go, let's go.

[horn trumpeting]

- [Kristi] Woo!

Do you wanna find a way to the top first?

Although what if they're easier to find on the bottom?

- [Jen] Let's start now.

We'll make other teams have to go high.

- [Lucas] There it is.

Brittany, come on.

- [Brittany] Hey, hang on, hang on.

I can't see.

[horn trumpeting]

- [Lucas] Wow, look how big it is.

- [Jen] Oh my God.

- [Kristi] There's so many everywhere.

- There were these cutout bulls

with satchels and we had

to find three ribbons in these satchels.

These bulls were scattered throughout this entire arena.

- So, we had to run all the way around the building.

We were looking everywhere.

[dramatic music]

Look in the pocket, take only one flag.

Red, white or blue?

- [Lucas] Look!

- [Brittany] This way, this way.

Come over here first.

- Babe. - Over here.

- [Kristi] Red.

- [Lucas] They have to be different colors.

- [Brittany] One blue, one red, and one white.

- [Lucas] Red.

- [Brittany] You got one?

- [Jen] It's red.

This is hard.

- [Kristi] Red.

- [Jen] Red?

- So if this one's red, we probably should go up a level.

- [Jen] Probably.

- [Lucas] Red.

We gotta go up higher.

It's gonna be up there.

- [Jen] Kristi, let's separate from them.

You go down this way and then up.

I'm just gonna check this little dude.

- Yeah. - Okay, this is the white one.

- They're gonna be of different heights.

White.

I only need one more. - Blue.

Blue, blue.

- [Lucas] We gotta go up higher.

It's gotta be on the inside.

Brittany, come here! - Lucas!

This one. - Brittany!

- Lucas!

- [Lucas] Come on, babe. [horse nickers]

- Come on!

- You can't go over there. - We're right here.

[Lucas groans]

- [Lucas] It's gonna be white or red.

We gotta go up high.

- [Brittany] We need blue.

- [Lucas] It's white or red, right?

I told you, - All right, all right,

all right. - we gotta go up high.

Come on. - Okay.

- [Chris] Sir, do you have a clue for us?

- I say Full of Bull.

- All right, let's do it.

- Full of Bull.

- You think so?

- Oh. - Okay.

- Do you know how to do puzzles?

- I've never seen a Vincent Van Gogh painting in my life.

- All right.

- [Joey] I think we should do the Van Gogh.

We're going to do Colorful.

- [Trevor] Do you remember where we were?

- [laughs] Sucks to run, boys.

Gone from buildin' catapults to fightin' bulls.

- I have not been in a room with a bull

but I'm pretty stoked about it.

- Yeah, we do drive jet fighters on wheels though,

so I feel like wrestlin'

anything will be all right. - I think we'll be fine.

- [Cody] The Arena Arles.

If I was a bettin' man I would say this is the way.

- Well, thank God you're not a betting man

because we'd be poor.

You and I are gonna have a long talk about your guessing.

Sometimes instead of doing things that are based off facts,

he does things that are based off hunches,

and that stresses me out.

- [Cody] I always apologize afterwards.

- It's a million dollars on the line,

but I'm not gonna lose him over it.

So, we have to get over it.

- We love each other.

- Yeah, what he said.

[Cody chuckles]

You are so lucky that I can't drive

because I would literally tune you out.

You know, kind of like how you've been doing to me.

- You say something?

- I'm gonna k*ll you.

- [Henry] We're gonna switch.

- We're gonna do Full of Bull.

- We think it's lower variance.

It just depends whether or not

you're able to get the puzzle or not.

Whereas the bull thing-

- There are fewer tricks.

It's just the effort

of running around, - Exactly.

- and finding the things.

[upbeat music]

- [Kristi] You check that one?

- This one's red.

We have red and white.

- [Kristi] [groans] So tired.

- [Lucas] Check that one.

See the blue?

Come on, babe.

- Wait, wait, wait, wait for me.

So exhausted.

It smells like bull poop.

- Blue! - All right, what?

- [Lucas] Let's go.

- Okay. - Come on.

- [Brittany] We have to go back all the way down.

How do we get down?

- [Lucas] I have no idea.

Over there.

- [Brittany] I thought we were-

- [Lucas] Oh wait, we gotta go all the way around.

- [Brittany] Oh my God.

- Red. - Go, go.

- We can't get the high one.

- [Kristi] Look and see where we're gonna go to get up.

- Fine.

Oh, Kristi, I got it, I got it.

- [Kristi] We have all three?

- Yeah.

- [Brittany] Go, go, go.

- [Kristi] Go, go, go.

- Thank you.

Thank you.

Merci. - Merci, thank you.

Open it, open it.

- Look at the horses, how pretty.

- All right, open the clue.

- Hurry, hurry, hurry.

- Route info.

- These distinctive limestone rocks

are seen throughout Les Baux,

and used to build

this traditional country style home, Benvengudo,

the pit stop for this leg of the race.

The last team to check in here may be eliminated.

- Come on, man.

Blue, white, red.

Thank you so much.

- [Lucas] Come on, baby.

We got this, we got it.

Come on.

- Oh!

You all right, guys? - Yeah.

Woo hoo!

- [Kristi] Come on, we can b*at Ocean.

- Good job. - Good job, guys.

[dramatic music]

[horn trumpeting]

[indistinct]

Run up those stairs, come on.

[dramatic music]

One red.

Let's go.

- Anything?

- One red.

- This way here, Eric.

- We might have to go levels.

- Red.

Crap, they're all red.

- [Lucas] We got a head start, babe.

Come on.

- There are people running around.

- Oh my gosh, yeah, that's where they went.

They're doing the bulls.

- I mean we could still do the bulls if you wanted to.

- No, there could be a lot of running on that one.

[air whooshing]

- We got a red ribbon, blue ribbon.

We need a white ribbon.

- Red.

- Come on, come on, come on.

- Red.

- [Eric] Come this way.

White.

- Red, white and blue.

Comin' down.

I made it up there through here.

- [Daniel] Come on, Eric.

Come on, come on.

- [Eric] Trying to say all the way to the bottom.

[horn trumpeting]

- Eric, thank you. - Thank you.

- Let's go, come on.

Hurry up, hurry up.

Come on, come on, come on.

- "Search the arena for clue cards

in pouches attached to the bulls."

- [Trevor] And the other one is?

- Put together a puzzle of a Van Gogh painting.

- I feel like the puzzle, like if you are not getting it,

you just will not get it, you know what I mean?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I understand.

It could take, if it's one of the slidey ones,

it could take a long time.

- Port Van Gogh.

- [Joey] We are so lost.

- Well, let's hope this puzzle

is better than looking for those pouches.

- That's the street we're supposed to be on right there.

Unless this is it.

- I'll turn around real quick.

This is ridiculous.

We're wasting time.

- [Cody] Have you tried any of these over here?

- No, I might try this next one.

- Yeah. - Let's park here.

- [Conor and Alex] Let's go.

- Oh, it's right there. - Okay.

- [Evan] IndyCar's right there.

- [Conor and Alex] Let's go.

- The navigation was really strong for us.

I mean, it was a good reward

when we left the Roadblock last and saw two other teams.

It was an affirmation of what we were doing was still right.

- [Conor] It's right there.

- [Alex] We gotta go quick.

- [Conor] Oh boy, look at this.

[horn trumpeting]

- [Conor] All right, let's go.

- [Evan] This is so cool.

- [Cody] Go, go, go, go, go.

- [Henry] We need one for each color?

- [Evan] Red, white and blue.

Oh my God.

- [Alex] Red.

- [Conor] Okay.

[upbeat music]

- [Alex] Nothing.

- [Conor] Keep goin'.

- Red. - Red? Okay, perfect.

[dramatic music]

- Sorry, guys.

- [Conor] Red.

- [Alex] Red again.

- [Conor] Let's go up higher.

- [Henry] This way, Ev.

- Nope. Oh, we're blocked.

We're blocked.

Go that way.

We gotta hurry, Jess.

- I got a white one.

Checking this guy.

Go little bull.

Come on. - All right.

- [Jessica] We need a blue one.

- [Conor] We have to b*at them.

- [Alex] Let's go up.

- [Conor] Yeah, here.

- [Evan] White.

- You got white?

Which means we just need blue and we're good.

- [Evan] You see the pouch?

- Yeah, it was only red.

- Okay, come on.

The blue ribbon was very elusive,

which just meant we had to go further up the stairs,

made it more exhausting and more time consuming.

- Here, here, here, stairs, stairs, stairs.

- Okay.

- Okay, why is everything red?

- Please, please, red.

Red.

We need a blue.

Smaller.

No, white.

- No. - There's stairs over there.

- Here, right here. - Oh, perfect.

Great job.

Do you see one?

- Blue. - Blue, doin' good.

Let's get outta here.

- [Conor] White.

- [Alex] Good job.

- Red. - So many reds.

The only reds I like to see are the Firestone reds.

- [Evan] Let's go!

- Let's keep circling around.

- [Evan] Are you the bull fighter?

Thank you so much. - Thank you, thank you.

- [Jessica] Yale's done.

[Evan laughing] [horn trumpeting]

- [Conor] sh**t, how did they get it already?

Let's knock this one out, top left here real quick.

- [Alex] Blue.

- Yes, all right, let's go.

All right, here we go.

- [Cody] Ah!

- Blue, blue, we got it.

- Go that way.

- [Conor] We gotta go.

- Thank you. - Thank you so much.

- Come on.

[indistinct]

- Yeah.

- [Jessica] Bonjour.

[horn trumpeting]

- [Conor] We gotta go fast.

- [Cody] Go, go, go, go!

[trumpeting continues]

[dramatic music]

- We are headed to the Hotel Benvengudo.

Ocean Rescue got out of the Detour just ahead of us.

And if we can get to the mat before them,

we will be absolutely thrilled.

- Benvengudo, Benvengudo, Benvengudo.

And I'm gonna throw up.

- Take a deep breath. We got this.

- [Jen] These people are so slow at driving.

It is frustrating. - It's okay.

Keep our eyes really open.

- Can you gimme my headphones?

- [Brittany] You're what?

- Headphones.

- Headphones? - Yeah.

- Headphones.

I guess he's cold.

- [Jen] Benvengudo.

- [Kristi] Hotel Benvengudo.

- Benvengudo.

This is it, this is it.

- [Brittany] I saw the sign.

- Baby, come on.

- No, Benvengudo, that one, that one, that one.

Turn around, turn around, turn around, turn around.

[upbeat music]

There's the mat.

He's over there.

[Brittany laughs]

- Welcome to [speaking in French].

- Lucas and Brittany, you are team number one!

[Brittany laughs] [triumphant music]

Congratulations.

And I have some great news for you.

As the winners of this leg of the race,

you have won a trip from Travelocity

and you are going to Bali.

- No way! - Oh my God [laughs]!

I's a very romantic place.

- [Brittany] Ah, I can't!

- Yes, you're gonna enjoy five nights

in a pool villa at The Laguna Resort & Spa,

relax on a private beach,

enjoy a Balinese massage for two,

and dinner at Banyubiru Restaurant.

So, five legs of "The Amazing Race."

You were so close to being out

on the last leg. - So many times.

- And now you have won this leg of the race-

- And I can't stop crying.

- And every time I see you, you're crying.

- [Brittany] This is joy.

Why can't I keep it together?

- [Phil] I know one of the things you wanted

was this alone time with him.

- Yeah [laughs].

- And what's that been like?

- He's given me everything and more.

- Oh look, and there's Kristi and Jen.

[women cheering]

- Yay!

Congratulations.

- How do you feel about these two

taking their first, first place finish in the race?

- Woo!

We're so proud of them. - Oh!

- They've had some bad luck and they persevered.

I'm gonna start crying.

See, now you have the two emotional ones on the mat.

This hasn't happened yet.

[Brittany laughs]

I'm just happy [laughs].

- Well, that's lovely.

- Phil, can you gimme a minute?

- [Phil] Yes.

- [Lucas] Can I say something?

- [Brittany] Hey, what, what?

[anticipatory music]

- Phil, can you gimme a minute?

- Yes. - Can I say something?

- [Phil] Oh. [Jen gasps]

- So, me and Brittany have been together for nine years,

and since the first year I saw her and we've been together,

I couldn't think of any other person to be with,

and I love her very much and yesterday we had a very tough,

like I was a little bit upset,

but she knows how to bring me back into my right place

and we talked last night and said okay,

moving forward, we're gonna have fun

and we're gonna push ourselves.

And she's everything to me,

and I can't think of a better place to do it,

and I would like to-

- Wait, what, what? [Lucas laughs]

- [Lucas] If I can find it.

- You're gonna

make me cry again. - Eric and Daniel,

get over here.

You gotta see this moment.

Just take it in. See what's happenin'.

Brittany? - Oh!

- Yay! - Oh my gosh.

- [Lucas] Would you marry me?

- Of course.

[swelling music]

- Brittany, how do you feel?

- Ah!

I'm so happy.

I'm so happy.

- [Phil] This is what-

- And we already got the honeymoon.

- This is what you wanted, right?

Lucas, why today?

- Today's perfect.

I mean, we're in France, we're running through castles.

She's a princess, - Oh my God.

- and we won a trip to Bali where we always wanted to be.

So, I can't think of a better place to do it.

I just wanna spend the rest

of my life with her. - If nothing else [laughs].

- It's just perfect.

And she's perfect, and she deserves it.

- You wanna say anything else, Brittany?

- No, I love you.

- I love you, too.

[Brittany crying]

- I'm on Cloud .

It's almost surreal when you've spent a life

with somebody and you've built something over nine years,

it's just, it's different,

and I have that perfect moment with the perfect people.

It's just wonderful.

And something shiny on your finger helps.

- Brittany, your dad, what will he be thinking right now?

- He's gonna be eating his words now.

[all laughing]

- [Phil] All right, well,

here's Henry and Evan right now comin' in.

[all clapping]

Well, first of all, welcome.

- Thank you [laughs].

- But secondly, we have some news to share with you.

[Evan gasps]

- Oh my God!

- Oh my God!

Congratulations.

Oh, this is so exciting.

Come here, gimme a hug.

Congratulations.

- [Evan and Henry] Congratulations.

- It's so beautiful.

- [Henry] Congratulations.

- [Lucas] Henry, next leg.

[all laughing]

[inspirational music]

- Alex and Conor, you are team number five.

- Thank God.

- But perhaps more importantly,

you are witnessing an engagement today because-

- Did they win?

[all laughing]

- They not only won the leg,

they won each other's hearts.

They are now engaged.

- Oh my gosh. - That's wonderful.

- Conor? - Yeah?

- [Phil] Just take note here, when you get married one day.

- I won't be seein' one of those for a very long time.

[all laughing] [inspirational music]

- [Trevor] We're trying to find the Bull challenge.

- One more time, the city we're going to?

- A-R-L-E-S.

- Arles, Arles.

I think we need to turn around.

- Okay.

I think I saw the sign we're looking for back there.

That could really put us behind.

Oh my God.

- [Tim] Oh, Van Gogh to the right.

This is just where we came from.

- [Joey] Tim, we're here.

- [Tim] This is it.

That sucked. - No, we're fine.

First team here.

- [Tim] You see anything?

- Oh, there it is.

Oh my God.

- [Joey] Hey, look at this.

- [Tim] Oh my gosh.

That's crazy.

- We choose one of them. - They all look available.

- [Joey] Yeah, everybody left.

- [Tim] No, they're not here yet.

Can we choose this?

- [Joey] "Solve the puzzle

of a Vincent Van Gogh masterpiece."

- [Tim] This is a puzzle

that has some meaning to it, right?

- Bonjour.

- He is Van Gogh.

We cut his ear off?

- [Joey] All right, Tim.

We gotta really think about this.

- Obviously we can't move these pieces, right?

We've gotta find some pieces.

That's k*lling us.

What do you think is in here, anything?

- [Joey] Oh my God, that-

- Are there pieces anywhere?

- [Joey] This is gonna k*ll me.

- [Tim] What the heck?

- Cody and Jessica, you are team number six.

- Okay.

- [Phil] Still in the race.

- [Chris] We are pretty lost at the moment.

We're in the city of Arles,

but we don't know where to go within the city.

[dramatic music]

- Let's go.

Oh my God.

- [Joey] We have chosen an available puzzle.

We know that.

Oh, this moves a little bit.

So, this one moves. - Oh my God.

- [Joey] Oh, it's just gotta line up.

- Which one moves first?

- [Joey] These two are the only ones

that are moving freely right now.

- Let's try moving this one first.

Does anything else move?

No. - Gosh.

- This is locked out of place.

- Love it. - So, this is a puzzle

where you have to slide pieces in a certain order,

but if you slide them out of order,

the pieces won't even slide.

- We got this.

All right, so this is in the right spot

but in order for this to get in-

- That locks that, that locks the...

- That locks this? - We need to get it, though.

Does that go across and down?

- I'm still not getting it.

- I don't know if it's...

That's there.

- [Tim] Oh my God.

Oh.

- I think we're done.

No?

Oh, it'll open up when we're done.

- [Joey] Is that how?

Does it...

Do we pull it back? - I just think

it'll fall down.

[Van Gogh impersonator speaking in French]

- [sighs] Nobody is here.

- [Joey] I'm sure they did this stuff already.

[Tim exhales]

- Damn.

- What is the name of the place with the bull?

- Arena Arles.

"Park in the marked parking area on Rue des la Cavalry."

Do you wanna pull over here maybe?

- I'm sorry, I just wanna go a little farther.

I feel like we wouldn't...

It's gonna be something large either way.

No? - I don't know.

I feel like we're going nowhere now.

Oh my God.

- We're struggling. - Little worried.

- I know, I wish somebody else would show up here.

- [Joey] So, it looks like everything's lining up.

- We don't know if that's finished or not.

- Let's put 'em all...

That's all I can think of, right?

So, in order for this one to go in, this has to go up.

But I think this one, this one does something over here.

- Rude des la Cavalry.

Madame, Rue des la Cavalry?

[woman speaking in French]

- Arena?

- [Trevor] Arena?

- Arena.

[woman speaking in French]

- [Tim] We never got that one to move anywhere?

- [Joey] We got this one to move.

- [Tim] Oh, it slides over.

- [Joey] Slides over.

Which way is more right?

- [Tim] Man, who would've thought this?

It's so hard.

[Tim groans]

- [Trevor] Okay, nevermind.

Oh my God.

It doesn't seem like anybody knows

the actual street that we need to get onto.

- [Trevor] It's very frustrating.

Who knows where we are now.

- [Chris] Oh my God, are we outta this race?

- Damn. - We're in trouble.

- [Tim] Oh my God.

[dramatic music]

- We're looking for the whole arena of bulls.

- [Trevor] Is this-

- [Chris] If there's a race flag on it, just park.

- [Trevor] I mean, this must be it.

This is it.

- [Chris] It has to be it.

Finally.

[horn trumpeting]

- Wow, look at this.

- [Chris] Gotta get a red, white and blue.

I see a red poking out of there.

Okay.

No.

- What? - Nothing.

- We have to look for passageways

to lead up to the next bulls.

- Yeah.

- [Tim] It's very difficult and frustrating, this puzzle.

- [Joey] Let me try again.

This one needs to move a little bit up, doesn't it?

- [Tim] That's terrible right here.

It has to be there.

This has to be it.

- [Joey] It's probably gonna open it, right?

- [Chris] Red.

[dramatic music]

Blue.

- [Trevor] Nice.

- Red. - There's one under him.

[dramatic music]

- White, got it.

Let's go.

We go that way? No.

- No. - Go.

- [Trevor] How do we get out [laughs]?

- [Chris] I don't know.

Oh my God.

- [Tim] Oh my gosh.

- [Joey] I mean, I feel like this

is what it's gonna open, right?

Look how much more that goes.

- We came out there?

Do you see any- - No idea.

- So it's gonna be, we're gonna pull it out.

- [Chris] It's not frustrating at all.

Not frustrating at all.

- Hello, Monsieur.

- Merci.

- Terrible.

- [Trevor and Chris] All right.

- "Hotel Benvengudo in the direction

of Les Baux-de-Provence."

- "And find Phil on the map."

- Uh oh.

- Damn it, damn it, damn it.

Can't believe it was done.

We think we solved it about times

before we understood how to open the box

that contained our clue.

That is not what you want to do

when you're playing from behind.

- We are headed to find Phil,

back to Les Baux. - Straight to disaster.

- Yeah, hopefully we're not last.

- We're [censored] last.

- It's likely, but can never be so sure

until we're absolutely sure.

- Well, I really do wanna see some more places on this race.

- No, no, we still might have chose the right Detour.

- Possible.

- Can't we do anything right?

- I don't wanna go home.

- [Joey] if we can somehow survive...

[triumphant music]

- Onto the mat.

You picked a fine day to be late.

- Yeah. - I know.

- Do you know how late you are?

- I can't see how anybody

would've been slower than us today.

- Yeah, I mean, it's hard to imagine, isn't it?

- [Chris] Yeah.

- But guess what?

- Shut up.

- [Phil] There is one team slower than you.

- Oh my God.

- Trevor and Chris, you are team number seven.

Congratulations. - Oh my God.

[indistinct]

- Joey and Tim, I am really sorry to tell you

that you are the last team to arrive,

and unfortunately you have

been eliminated from the race.

- All right.

- Damn.

- [Phil] I can see a lot of emotion there, Joey.

- Yeah, we...

It's sad.

We really loved racing this. - Yeah.

- But I'm happy me and Tim competed.

I'm happy he was my partner.

There were things that I couldn't have done

that Tim did during the race.

And we succeeded together, and we failed together.

- It was a tremendous privilege to get to do this.

But I think we left so much undone

that I don't know when I can let go of the feeling

of missing out because of our own failures.

- It's a tough pill to swallow.

No? Too soon?

- No, it's all right. - It's all right.

I guess we aren't wieners today.

[Tim chuckles] [playful music]

[upbeat music]

[music continues]

- [Phil] Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode.

On the next episode of "The Amazing Race,"

in the colorful city of Prague,

the competition gets personal.

- "Big Brother" screwed us. - Completely lied

to Brittany and I.

- Last time I help her.

Do I trust her?

Hell no.

- [Phil] As teams face the double U-turn...

- You know one of them's gonna be used on us.

- [Phil] And an "Amazing Race" classic.

- [Jen] Oh my God. [phone ringing]

[thunder rumbling]

[metal ringing]

[upbeat music]

[music continues]
