[train engine chugging]

- Whoo-hoo!

[train engine chugging slowly]

♪ ♪

My friends Rebecca and Gordon

are big engines

who pull big trains,

and sometimes that means

big problems.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

♪ ♪[Thomas]

Gordon and Rebecca,Coming Through.Gordon,the big blue express engine,has worked onthe North Western Railwayfor a long time.

[whistle blows]

[bell dings]

- Oh.

- He's one of the fastestand strongest engineson the railway.

[whistle blows]

- Ha!

[whistle toots]

[gasps]

Get out of the way, Emily!

- Gordon, what are you doing?

[switch clicks]

[gasps]

- Gordon lovesto pull the express.The only other engineas fast and strong as Gordonis Rebecca.Just like Gordon,she takes the expressand pulls long goods trains.But she hasn't been workingon this railway for very long.

[whistle toots]

- Oh, you go first,

Philip.

[switch clicks]

[horn honks]

[whistle toots]

[switch clicks]

- And sometimes Gordon feelshe has some wise wordsto pass onto the newer engine.

[whistle toots]

- Oh, good morning,

Gordon.

- Ah, Rebecca,

I see you're waiting

for something.

Big tender engines like us

should never be kept waiting.

- [laughs]

Oh.

I'm sure Percy will be along

any minute now.

- You mean Percy's late?

When Thomas is late

with the express coaches,

then I like to do this:

[whistle blows loudly]

Thomas!!!

- [Thomas]

Huh! All right, all right!

Cool your whistle, Gordon.

Here are your coaches.

[whistle toots]

- I don't mind

waiting for my cars

or the express coaches.

Percy and Thomas

are busy too.

- [coughs]

Well, that doesn't

excuse them

for being late.

The rest of the railway

needs to run on time.

- [man blows whistle]

- Time to go!

[whistle toots]

See you later, Gordon.

[pleasant music]♪ ♪

[whistle blows]

- [Gordon]

Ah, Rebecca.

Remember, go fast

over Gordon's Hill

or you might get stuck

halfway up

and need a push.

- [giggles]

I know, Gordon.

I've been up this hill

many times before.

- But not as many times

as me.

They don't call this

Gordon's Hill for nothing!

Whoa!

- Very well, Gordon.

Whatever you say.

[train engine chugging]

[whistle toots]

- Hey, what's the holdup?

- Oh, I'm waiting

for James to leave.

- ♪ Doo, doo, doo,

ba, ba, ba, buh, ba, ba ♪

[whistle blows]

- Express coming through!

- Whoa!

- Whoa, whoa!

Oh!

- Gordon is such a show-off.

Just because

he pulls the express,

he doesn't have to say that.

[imitating Gordon]

"Express coming through."

- [Gordon]

I heard that!

- Oh, oh, dear.

- [Thomas]

The next day,it was Rebecca's turnto pull the express.

[whistle toots]

- [Gordon]

Oh, Rebecca.

Still waiting

for your coaches?

Now, what did I tell you to do

when Thomas isn't ready?

- Was it to ask him nicely

to bring my coaches?

- Ohhh, no.

[whistle blows loudly]

Hurry up, little engine!

[whistle toots]

- But I'm not late.

You're early.

- Not for me,

for Rebecca.

- Oh, I thought you wanted

the express coaches.

- Uhh, I--I'm choosing to allow

Rebecca to pull the express.

Now, remember, Rebecca,

the most important thing when

you are pulling the express

is that you are

never late.

If there's an engine

in your way,

blow your whistle

and say loudly,

"Express coming through!"

- Thanks, Gordon,

but I don't need to blast on

my whistle or say anything.

If there's

a slower engine ahead,

I just wait until--

- Oh, don't wait.

Switch lines and keep going

no matter what.

- But what if there's another

engine coming the other way?

- Then they'll jolly well

get out of your way.

- Hmm, it all sounds

a bit risky to me.

- Well, I've been pulling

the express for years,

and that's what

works for me.

Don't stop.

Don't slow down.

[chain clinks]

- [blows whistle]

- Well, that might

work for you, Gordon,

but I have my own way

of doing things.

[whistle toots]

- Hmm.

- Later on their wayback to Knapford,Rebecca came upbehind Toby and Henrietta.

- What are you slowing down

for, Rebecca?

- I'm waiting for you

to turn off first.

- But you don't have

to wait for us.

You're the express.

You should overtake.

- Oh, okay then.

Here goes.

[whistle toots]

[bell dings]

- Oh, look, here comes Rebecca!

- You're stuck behind us now.

[both laugh]

- That's all right,

you cheeky lot.

I can wait.

[whistle blows]

- [Gordon]

Out of my way!

Goods training coming through.

- [gasps]

- [gasps]

Gordon!

- Rebecca,

get out of my way!

- Oh, hmm.

Oh, points!

Quick, switch the points!

[switch clanks]

[both screaming]

- [groans]

- [Rebecca] Oh...

Oh, I'm so sorry, Gordon.

Are you all right?

- Yes, Rebecca.

Oh, if I had only

stopped or slowed down,

none of this

would have happened.

Oh, silly old me.

- Oh, don't worry, Gordon.

We all make mistakes.

- Thank you, Rebecca.

Now I realize you were right

to do things your own way,

and I was wrong to tell you

how to do your job.

- [laughing]

Oh, thank you, Gordon.

- Now you better

get moving.

We can't have the express

being late, can we?

- No, we can't.

You can count on me.

[whistle toots]

Express coming through!

[giggles]

[gentle music]♪ ♪

[whistle toots]

- Not every engine is the same.

Sometimes engines need

to do things in their own way.

[steam hissing]

When Haroldneeded to be repaired,Duck wantedto take him straightto the Searchand Rescue Center,but I wanted to show HaroldKnapford Station.Duck did what I wanted,but it caused confusionand delay.[harp music]Gordon thoughthe was helping Rebeccaby telling herhow to pull the express,but Rebecca didn't needGordon's advice.Thankfully, by doing thingsher own way,she managed to preventa big accident.[harp music]

Not all advice

is good advice.

You should listen

to what people tell you,

but it's also important

to do what you feel is right.

- [Annie] Come on, Thomas!

It's time to go.

- See ya next time!

[whistle toots]

[train engine chugging]
