Are you looking

I remember you from The Roxy

She keeps going back,
doesn't she? Is she gonna see...?

Thomas, is that the man
that sh*t me?

Someone from back then painted
you and called you "My Katherine."

The Jacob of this time is not
a little boy, Katherine.

He's delivering a ship

I have a chance to actually
bring him home!

on the hill,

and Colton's on his acres
of golden land,

while Victor's up to his waist

in fish guts out
in the middle of the ocean!

- I think it's time to go.
- Oh, hey! Look at this, folks.

A Landry sure hates being
out of the spotlight for long.

None of you folks
have any idea, do you?

This town has treated my family
like scum!

For 200 years!

Okay. Okay, we're done.
Come on.

Let's go, Founder's Day!

[inhales sharply]

It's no secret that my family's
relationship to Port Haven is...

complex.

We weren't builders,
like the Goodwins.

We weren't farmers,
like the Landrys.

We observed.

But we wrote those
observations down

and became the keepers
of our town's history.

But generations pass,

and that contribution starts
to feel less important.

This weekend's always
so hard on him.

This name,

I know it was a burden
for some.

Like it cast a big, defining
shadow over their lives and

dictated how big...
or small, that life could be.

But being an Augustine is
not a shadow.

[sighs]
It's a light.

By writing a story,
we record what matters.

And we still do.

I do.

Because being an Augustine...

Yes, it's a responsibility.

But more than that...

it's an honor.

- [applause]
- Thank you.

Well, that speech
trumps Vic's, huh?

- Vic?
- Elliot's dad.

A real mercurial one.

Elliot always bore
the brunt of it all,

especially around Founder's Day.

Um... I have to go.
Is that okay?

Okay. Sure.

Thanks.

Oh well.

Katherine! Come join us!

There you go.

[sighs]

- Can I get an autograph too?
- Hi, Sam.

"Ask me about my family," huh?

Hmm. I'd rather ask about you,
if you don't mind.

- What do you want to know?
- Are you alright?

[sighs]

Is that... Is that too much?

No, no, it's just, um...

nobody's asked me that
in a while.

If I'm being honest,

I'm tired.

- Of?
- [Del scoffs]

This, I guess.
Playing the role.

So don't!
Rip that silly button off.

Is it that easy for you?

You can just do
whatever you want,

whenever you want,
with whomever you want.

I don't have that luxury.

At least, not around here.

It's not that easy for me.

I didn't mean to suggest
it was easy, Del.

Not a lot of things worth doing
are, are they?

I used to wear one of those
buttons. Big city lawyer button.

Putting on that suit every day
and go through the grind,

until one day I decided
I'd had quite enough,

and I ripped off that silly
button and never looked back,

and I have never felt so free
in my life.

Sounds like retirement to me,
my friend. Whoop-dee-doo.

You're not gonna let me get
away with anything, are you, Del?

- Nope.
- Good.

You want to get out of here?

- Yes.
- Yeah?

[Del chuckles]
Yes. Oh, yes.

Hey.

Hi. Is Elliot home?

You, uh, a friend of my boy's?

Yeah, yeah, I am.

Well, it's nice to meet
you, then. I'm Vic.

- Alice. Hi.
- Huh.

So, Alice, does this mean you're
gonna join us for Founder's Day?

I mean, it's only the biggest
event of the year.

Yeah, yeah. Uh, if that's
what Elliot wants, sure.

Alice?

- Uh, what are you doing here?
- Met your friend.

Well done, son.

Looks like you're an Augustine
after all.

How about I get you two
to the party? But uh, hey...

[clicks tongue]
You take your time.

Do you want to...
get out of here?

Yeah, I would, actually.
Thank you.

Have you seen the new Austin
Powers? Apparently, Beyoncé's in it,

while Kelly's off making
crappy music with Nelly.

That's the one where she's
texting him on Excel, right?

Yeah, yeah, you saw it. I thought
I was the only one who noticed that.

Hey, Elliot.

I didn't know about your dad.

About how he is.

And I never thought to ask,
I'm... I'm so sorry.

Just being here is enough.

Just don't tell Kat,
please. Ever.

How does she not know?

She knows he's not around
much, but she doesn't...

she doesn't know how bad it is.

But she's your best friend.

You don't want to tell her
about all this?

No, I... I never want Kat
to pity me.

She can like me or hate me,
or maybe someday love me,

but never pity. I just...
I couldn't stand that.

Your secret's safe with me.

Let's go.

[soft music]

[birds chirping]

[rake thuds]

[ominous music]

[breathing heavily]

[Jacob]: Puppy!

[water splashing]

[boy:] A boat! There's a boat
on the harbor!

Katherine. Jacob's' home.

Is this where you bring
all your girls?

All of them?

Just how many girls
do you think there are, Del?

Don't count.
We'll be here all week.

[Del chuckles]

Well, the way I see it,

you gotta dip your toe in
the water before you swim.

And I still want to swim.

Don't you?

[Del chuckles]

What in heaven's name
are you doing?

Well, all this talk of swimming's
made me want to just dive right in.

You can't be serious.
Put your clothes back on.

Come on, Del, just look
at that water, it's perfect.

Something about the ocean,
I don't know what it is.

[pants zipping]
So fast, so immense.

You know what it is?

It's liberating.

It's freezing!

Come on, don't you want
to swim, Del?

[sighs]

That's it!

This is life, Del!
Woo!

You're gonna love this!
Woo!

[chuckling]

Dell, come on!

Come on! That's it!

- [laughing]
- Woo!

Woo!
[laughing]

[indistinct chatter]

Look! There they are!

[panting]

[tense music]

This is it, Katherine.
I know it.

[panting]

[gasps]

Jacob.

Jacob!

Jacob!

[breathing heavily]

[horse neighing]

You! Jacob Landry!

You're under arrest for treason!

Wait, what? Wait!

- [shouting]
- [Kat]: Jacob, no! Wait!

- [thud]
- Wait!

Don't you take him!

[shouting]

- Hey!
- [Susanna]: Katherine!

[gasping]

Jacob!
Leave him be!

- [grunts]
- No!

Jacob!

[sobbing]

[tense music]
