♪ With Dog ♪ And Sheep ♪ And Duck ♪ And Pig

♪ There's always a surprise! ♪

(barks)

KIDS: Word World!

(croaks)

(whimpers)

(giggles)

KIDS: Word World!

NARRATOR: It was a beautiful day in Word World.

(barking, panting)

That's right, Dog.

It's the perfect day for flying a kite.

But first, we need to build our kite.

Now, I've got all the letters we need here.

K-ite!

KIDS: Kite!

You said it-- a kite.

Come on, Ant, we've got some kite flying to do.

Let's go.

Oh, it's a perfect day for kite flying.

Oh, boy, look at it go already.

Ha-ha, ho-ho, yeah, yeah!

Um, can I give it a try?

Well, sure, buddy.

ANT: Whoa, it's so cool.

Look at that kite fly.

Whoa, huh, what's that?

♪ If ever I'm sad or I'm lonely ♪

♪ I turn and look up to the sky ♪

ANT: Wow, look at Bug, Bee and Fly.

Cool.

Ant, look out for the kite!

(gasps)

Oh, whoa, whoa...

Oh... Ow!

Ant, are you all right?

(slurping, panting)

(giggling): Okay, okay, okay!

I'm all right.

What are those guys doing?

It's so cool!

Oh, they must be practicing

for the Insect Air Show.

Air Show?

You know, when all the insects in Word World

show off their flying skills.

But I'm an insect, too.

I wish I could fly with the other insects.

Hmm...

Well, if you really, really, really want to fly,

let's find a way to get you flying.

But how?

Ants can't fly.

Hmm...

Hey, let's go ask Frog.

He always has good ideas.

NARRATOR: Pig and Ant went to see if Frog could help get Ant flying.

So, after considerable study,

I believe this is the crucial difference

between Ant and the other insects...

Wings.

Ant, if you had wings,

you could fly in the Insect Air Show.

Okay, so what I need are wings.

(chuckles): Okay, wings it is.

We'll get you some wings.

Wings, wings... um...

How are we gonna get you some wings?

I know, we can build them.

Yes, Ant, that's a great idea.

We could build you a pair of wings.

I told you you're the smartest WordFriend I know.

Oh...

KIDS: Wings!

Yeah, wings!

So I can fly with the other insects.

Oh, boy, Ant, before you know it,

you'll be flying

right into the Insect Air Show.

(grunting)

They... feel kind of heavy.

Well, give them a try.

Okay.

(grunting, struggling)

(gasps)

Look at me, I'm fly...

(groaning)

Ow!

(gasps) Ant!

(sighs)

Oh, those wings didn't make me fly

like the other insects.

Aw, don't worry, Ant.

We'll just find another way

to get you to fly.

Hmm... Hmm... Hmm...

(yelping, barking)

That's a great idea, Dog.

Why don't you go ask Sheep?

Yeah, Sheep is always good at helping.

Come on, Ant!

(barking)

Thanks, Frog!

NARRATOR: So Pig, Dog and Ant went to Sheep's house

to see if she could help.

You know, Ant, I love to pretend I'm flying,

but I pretend I'm floating through the sky

just like a balloon.

A balloon-- hmm...

Well, I can't be a balloon, but...

(gasps): maybe I can fly with one.

Yes, you could fly with a balloon.

(laughs)

Ant, you have so many good ideas.

Thanks, Pig.

Let's build a balloon!

I have all the letters we need...

Bal-loon.

KIDS: Balloon!

I can definitely fly with a balloon.

Insect Air Show, here I come!

Should we try a test flight?

Okay.

Let 'er rip, Sheep.

(gasps)

I'm flying, I'm flying.

Yeah!

Just like the other insects.

ANT: Up, up and away!

(Ant laughing)

Uh... uh...

Wow.

Pig, Sheep and Dog look like tiny little ants from up here.

And I should know-- I am an ant after all.

Oh... Okay, I'm flying.

Now, can we work on landing?

Oh...

(barking)

Oh...

Ah, oh!

Hang on, Ant!

(panting)

We'll save you!

ANT: Oh...

Gotcha! (barking)

(Ant breathing heavily)

Oh, thanks, Pig.

(slurping)

(giggling)

Okay, okay, okay, I'm all right!

(giggling) (spitting)

(sighs)

Well, building a balloon didn't work.

I'm never going to be able to fly

with the other insects.

I give up.

You, Ant, give up?

But you're the smartest WordFriend I know.

I am? You sure are.

So let's use that big old brain of yours

and figure this out.

Okay.

Now, what have I learned so far?

The balloon was light,

but I couldn't control where it went,

and I could control the wings,

but they were way too heavy to use.

So, all we need is something light enough to fly,

but that we can control in the wind.

ALL: Hmm.

Hey, I got it!

A kite!

(barks and pants)

We can build a kite.

Yes, that's it!

A kite is light enough to fly,

but we can control it in the wind.

Oh, Ant, I told you

that you're the smartest WordFriend I know.

Oh.

(laughs): Thanks, Pig.

(barking and panting)

(howls)

Oh. (giggles)

(laughter)

(cheering) (quacks)

(panting)

(grunts and gasps)

Okay, everybody, let's get on stage

and practice the Dancing Duck Bonanza.

(rock music plays)

♪ The Dancing Duck Bonanza ♪

♪ When I take the stage

♪ It's a duck extravaganza

Ready? Everyone can do this part.

Whoo-hoo!

♪ Clap and stomp and wiggle-waggle ♪

Oh, no! (quacking)

Oh, no! My hat!

(gasps)

I can't do the Dancing Duck Bonanza without my hat!

(button clicks)

I'm putting on with Sheep and Dog.

We could use a great dancer like you in the show.

(gasps): You could?

Will you do the show with us?

I'd love to be in your show!

(quacks) Follow me.

NARRATOR: So Shark and Duck returned to the stage,

where Sheep and Dog were...

busy enjoying the sun.

Guess who's going to be in the show with us?

(chortles "Who?") Who?

DUCK: Shark!

Ta-da!

Wow! That's great!

(barks, pants)

Okay. Let's practice!

Shark, you, uh, stand here.

Okay? Shark, you just gotta go like this.

Uh, clap and stomp,

and wiggle-waggle.

Uh-huh, and when I say,

"Reach for the sky,"

you want to throw your wings up in the air...

Uh, you mean my fins?

Oh, right.

Throw your fins up in the air like this.

Here, watch.

(music plays)

It's hard for me to dance

when I'm not in the water.

(continues laughing) I'm just going to go home.

(quacks)

Hey, where did Shark go?

He, uh, left.

Oh, Duck, I think you might have

hurt his feelings when you laughed at him.

But I thought he was just playing around up here.

(groans)

Actually, Duck,

I think he was trying very hard to dance.

But he's such a good dancer under water.

What happened?

Well, uh, if you don't mind my saying so,

it must be hard for him to move

when he's out of the water.

(groans): Mm-hmm.

Well, that's right, Dog.

He is a shark, after all.

Hmm. You know, he does walk

kind of funny when he's on land.

So imagine how hard it is for him to dance on land.

(barks) Oh, no!

Oh, no, no, no, no, no!

I laughed at my good friend, Shark,

and made him feel bad.

Oh, no!

What am I going to do? What am I going to do?

(quacks) Oh!

Well, Duck,

you could go and say you're sorry.

Great idea, Sheep!

I will find Shark and apologize for laughing at him.

Shark!

Shark! (splashes)

SHARK (singing): ♪ I used to love to dance

♪ But I'll never dance again

♪ I can't believe Duck laughed at me ♪

♪ I thought he was my friend.

Hi, Crab.

Tell me, my friend, why are you so sad today?

Duck laughed at me because I couldn't dance.

You couldn't dance?!

But this is not possible.

I have seen you dance, Shark.

You are a spectacular dancer.

Not on land, I'm not.

I'm terrible.

Well, on land-- what do you expect?

You're a shark.

Sharks aren't meant to dance on land.

But no one dances better than you in the water.
