I don't think it's ever
gonna stop raining.

[sums]

Yeah. Three days of solid
rain is more than enough.

Yeah. More than enough
for me, all right.

I've got a date to go...

[SOFTLY] I've got a date
to go sailing tomorrow.

Oh, really?

No, maybe tomorrow it'll be clear,
but then again maybe it won't.

You better check the paper.

Oh, that's right. The paper has a
long-range weather report, doesn't it?

Where's the paper?

Hey, where's the...

What are you doing?

MARCO: Oh,
Henry's giving him sleeping lessons.

Where's the paper?

Try the oven.

Oh, come on! Where's the paper?

Pal, would I lie to you?

It's in the oven?
It's in the oven.

Pal, what can I tell you?

I mean, it was raining,
it got wet, I put it in the oven,

put it on warm to dry it out.

Well,
it didn't dry out. It's still wet.

[GROANING] How can I read this?

What's with the paper?

It's got the weather report. Oh.

Johnny's got a big date
to go sailing tomorrow.

How'd you know that?

Jim Roberts told me. You're
borrowing his boat, aren't you?

[EXHALES]

Who's the girl?

None of your business.

Debbie, the maintenance clerk.

Debbie? The blonde?

Uh-huh.

The same. And she
loves to go sailing.

Yeah, well,

I think you're gonna be out of luck,
'cause I think it's gonna be raining.

JOHNNY: Uh-uh. Excuse me.

Henry? Buddy? Please?

[CHUCKLES] Oh...

Okay...

Part B, Page...

Nineteen.

Nineteen. Column 2, 3, 4,

Well, looky there.

"Thunderstorms today,
clearing tonight, maybe tomorrow."

You know, Gage,
I've been thinking about this.

That boat is really too
big for one guy to handle.

I think you really should
have somebody else with you.

Oh,
really? Who do you have in mind?

Well, I've sailed
the boat before...

[LAUGHING]

I mean, I do have
experience with it.

Yeah, well, I prefer the rain.

Yeah?

That's probably
exactly what you'll get.

[BOTH CHUCKLING]

[ALARM SOUNDING] Well...

DISPATCHER: Engine 51, cancel.

JOHNNY: Engine 51.

Wanna talk about
a waste of time?

One hour sh*t trying to get a
guy's hand out of a drain pipe.

Yeah. First time I've ever
rescued a drowned wrist.

You think that's funny?

I thought it was kind of funny.

[THUNDER RUMBLING]

Hey, look. It's
gonna rain again.

You gonna cancel your date?

[CHUCKLES]

Oh, Roy, you don't know
how hard we worked at this.

Both of us getting the same day off,
getting a sailboat.

[CHUCKLES] There's one
good thing about it.

I bet that sailboat cabin is
gonna be real cozy during a storm.

ROY: Hey, I wonder
what's going on up here.

I don't know.

What's up?

Might as well turn back,
fellows. Bridge is washed out.

This is the only road out.

That's right.

How long do you
think it'll take?

Maybe two, three days.

Oh, no.

We're gonna get stuck up here.

Yeah. Us and about

Well, thanks a lot.

See you, fellows. All right.

I guess we might as
well go back to 86's.

Yeah, I'll call LA.

[SIGHING] Why me?

LA, this is Squad 51...

[GROANING] Oh, boy.

You know,
wouldn't mind
pulling more duty at this station.

It's really pretty out here.

If I ever bought a house,
it'd be here.

It looks like it let up
for a little while.

Yeah.

Hey, guys.

You're gonna clean
the paint off that thing.

Well, I see you heard
the news about the bridge.

Yeah. LA told us
to report to you.

Cheer up! You finally
made it to a good station.

Yeah. I think I'm gonna
go call and cancel my date.

Use your phone?

For cracking nuts, maybe.
The phones are out.

We've even got the
engine ready on a stand-by

in case we lose electricity.

Oh, boy, that's just terrific.

You can call the dispatcher

and get them to notify your families,
if you like.

That'
help, anyway.

I'm sorry about
your date, Johnny,

but I'm sure glad
you guys are here.

Far as I know, you're the only
medical help in the whole area.

[HORN HONKING] Well...

JOHNNY: What's the problem? I
have some injured people, here!

Are you injured? No, no.

Ma'am, are you hurt?

Yeah,
it won't stop bleeding. I can't stop it.

All right, let's put a little pressure
on it. Can you move your legs?

Okay, hold on. I'm gonna go
round the other side, all right?

There are cars collided,
and the traffic light wouldn't work,

and the phones are dead,
and... Can you stand up?

I didn't know what else
to do but bring them here.

Okay, can you walk?

Just wait a minute. I feel weak.

ROY: Have a look
at that head, all right?

He's really hurt bad. All
right. Don't worry about him,

let's worry about you.
Here, let's get you inside...

Might have something in
there. A little pressure there.

No, please! Please,
please don't touch it.

Just step on up there.

Okay, wait. All right.

Are you hurt anywhere else? No,
I don't think so.

You don't think so.
Let me just feel here.

No. Are you hurt in there?

Cap, I think we're gonna need a
cervical collar and a backboard.

Better get the drug box
and Biophone, too.

Not feeling any pain anywhere?

Nothing in your arms? No.

Your back? No.

Your legs are all right? Yeah.

Okay.

Keep applying pressure
to that, all right?

Let's put this around him.

Thanks.

Okay,
why don't we try moving him out?

We got the backboard, Cap?

All right, now try
not to move too much.

Take your jacket here, ma'am.

Okay.

All right, now ease
yourself back.

Okay. Easy, now. All right.

Let us do it. Let us
do it. You just relax.

Okay. Ma'am?
Can you give me that?

Sorry. Thanks a lot
for bringing them in.

It's nothing.

JOHNNY: You sure you're
not hurt anyplace else?

WOMAN: No, I'm fine. My car...

JOHNNY: All right,
don't worry about your car.

Can you grab me some A-by-As out oi there,
Frank'?

[ALARM SOUNDING]

DISPATCHER: Engine 14, Squad 18.

Vehicle accident
with people trapped.

Okay, let me see
that forehead, all right?

Galleon and Michigan.
Ambulance is responding.

I want you to put your thumb right
here. Looks like you might have

some glass in there,
Hold on tight.

But might have to probe at it.

I think I'm gonna wait,
all right?

Just try to apply as much
pressure as possible.

Is he going to be okay?

Yeah. He's gonna be fine.

DISPATCHER: Assistant 5,
switch to Frequency 2...

All right, let's get
a blood pressure.

How you feeling? All right?

Yeah, okay.

There we go.

Now, just keep a tight hold there,
I'll get you taped up.

All right.

Okay, now just keep holding that until
the bleeding goes down somewhat, okay?

You seem to be in good shape.

DISPATCHER: Reports of
mudslides in the foothill areas.

Some structures present.

Assistant 6 is responding there.

Rampart, this is County 51.

How do you read me?

Kel?

Go ahead, 51.

Rampart, we have two victims
of an automobile accident.

First victim is a female,
age 25 years old.

She has a deep laceration of
the volar portion of the left forearm.

She is able to move her hand,
she does have good sensation...

Okay, let me see that.
How are we doing?

The second victim... Well,
the bleeding has pretty well stopped.

Okay, keep applying
pressure there, all right?

I'm gonna go over and
check the lady. Okay.

JOHNNY: Laceration of the
scalp in the left temporal area.

He has glass in the wound. Direct pressure
seems to be controlling the bleeding.

Stand by for vital signs.

BP on him was 140 over 90,
pulse is 100, respirations were 24.

Pupils?

Huh? Pupils?

Pupils are equal and reactive.

Rampart, BP 140 over 90
on the second victim.

Pulse is 100, respiration is 24,
pupils equal and reactive.

Stand by for vitals
on the first victim.

Standing by, 51.

Okay, 120 over 68. BP?

Respirations are 16. Sixteen.

Rampart, first victim,
BP 120 over 68,

pulse is 72, respiration is 16.

Cover the injuries with 4-by-4s
and transport immediately.

We've got another
victim coming in.

Oh, boy.

I'll grab it. All right.

Joe's getting the
resuscitator. Can you help me?

What's wrong?
My son can't breathe.

[WHEEZING]
Jeffrey has bronchitis

and I had him in a
vaporizer tent at home,

but the power
went off in our area

and he just kept getting worse.

All right, all right,
don't worry about it. I'll take him in.

Okay, Cap?

I better check on
the copter. All right.

All right.

Have you ever been in a
fire station before, Jeffrey?

All right, just
take it easy, okay?

[WHEEZING] All right.

Good deal. Can you
grab the Biophone for me?

Is he taking any medication?

No, I ran out last night.

Okay.

All right, Jeffrey,
we're gonna put some oxygen on you.

It's gonna make you feel
a heck of a lot better, okay?

It's gonna make you
also breathe a lot better.

I just called LA for a copter,

but they're all grounded
by the weather.

Barton Heliport is zero-zero.

How long before they get
somebody over here?

Maybe an hour, maybe longer.

Right. 28. It's not bad.

Rampart,
this is County 51. How do you read me?

Go ahead, County 51.

Rampart, we have another victim,
male, 9 years old,

asthmatic bronchitis.
He's pale, diaphoretic.

His respirations are 28 with
expiratory wheezing, no stridors.

He was on a vaporizer
before a power failure.

We've got him on 6 liters of O2.

BP is 120 over 70, pulse is 100.

keep the patient warm,

and transport
as soon as possible.

Rampart, we can only
transport by helicopter

and they've been grounded for
at least an hour by the weather.

continue monitoring all patients

and keep me informed.

epinephrine subq.

It looks like we're gonna be
the local hospital here for a while.

Yeah. Looks like it.

[THUNDER CRACKING]

That's really quite a thunderstorm,
isn't it, Kel?

Yeah, and it's got
all our choppers grounded.

Johnny and Roy are isolated
in Oakvale with three patients.

I wonder how long it's gonna be
before they can be transported.

Not for at least another hour,
if they're lucky.

Kel, we've got a policeman who
was hit by lightning. He's in full arrest.

Give us a hand, huh, Joe? Sure.

Keep an eye on the base station.

The ambulance picked
him up immediately.

MIKE: Full arrest!

In there.

Continue CPR, Mike.
Defibrillator, Dix.

Nurse, set up EKG. Right.

His zipper's fused together.

How long was he in arrest?

No more than four minutes.
I started CPR right away.

Okay, Mike.

DIXIE: Ready.

[DEFIBRILLATOR BEEPING]

Four hundred watt-seconds, Dix.

Four hundred.

Clear! Clear.

[RAPID BEEPING]

No conversion.

Start an IV, D5W.
Two amps bicarb.

All right. Let's hit him again.

Four hundred watt-seconds.

Four hundred.

Clear! Clear.

[BEEPING MORE SLOWLY]

Sinus rhythm!

I got a pulse.

One hundred and thirty.

He's breathing
on his own now, Kel.

I'll draw blood for BUN,

electrolytes and a blood sugar.

Yeah, cardiac enzymes.

Kel, he's got third-degree
burns on his right shoulder

and the heel of his right foot.

The bolt must have entered at
the shoulder and exited at the foot.

He's lucky to still
be alive. I'll say.

Dix, I want a 12-lead EKG.

Chest, shoulder, and foot films.

Right.

What is it, Cap?

Gage, we've got a lady
with a hip injury.

Slipped on the wet pavement
in front of her house.

Could be fractured.

Are you hurt anywhere
other than your hip?

No, Doctor.

Okay. Why don't
we get her on in?

Okay, go ahead.

[INTERCOM BUZZING]

DISPATCHER: Utility 6,
pick up sandbags at Station 46

and deliver them to Station 73.

Squad 45, keep the victim warm

and transport as soon
as possible.

Dix, we're getting overloaded
with accident trauma.

We're gonna need more beds
in treatment rooms.

Yeah, right away. Oh,
how's the lightning victim?

He's doing fine. Good.

JOHNNY: Rampart,
this is County 51. How do you read me?

Okay. I'll get it.

Go ahead, 51.

Rampart, we have another victim,
female, age 65,

injured in a fall. She's complaining
of pain in her right hip and thigh.

There is no obvious swelling
or hematoma. She is splinted.

Stand by for vital signs.

BP is 160 over 90, pulse is 100,
respirations are 20.

Twenty? Yeah. 20, yeah.

Rampart,
BP 160 over 90... How are you feeling?

Oh, it hurts, all right.
But I'll be all right.

How did this happen?

Well, I just stepped
out of the house,

and then I went, whoosh,
right on my old hip.

Yeah? Did you hurt
your pride at all?

I did, Doctor.

[GIGGLES]

Bronchitis victim is
breathing a little bit easier now.

10-4, 51.

Hang in there,
huh? I'll try to send you a doctor

when transportation
becomes available.

IV, D5W on hip victim.

Got it.

Johnny, Roy,
we've got help. This lady is a doctor.

I'm Jean Slade. I came to see
if there was anything I could do.

You're an answer to our prayers.

This is John Gage. I'm Roy
DeSoto. Pleasure to meet you.

We've got four patients here
that are waiting on transport.

Well, there's only
one problem, guys.

I'm a psychiatrist.

I haven't done any
emergency work in 10 years.

Well, look,
we're in contact with the hospital.

Maybe they could
advise you, huh?

I'll do what I can.

Okay, why don't you show her
what we got and I'll take over here?

Okay. Uh, we've got a fairly
severe scalp laceration over here.

I found some glass embedded
underneath the flap of skin there.

Right in there. Well,
I'll need a probe of some kind

and a couple of clamps.

And some antiseptic
to clean it with.

Okay, I'll get them for you.

[INTERCOM BEEPING]

DISPATCHER: Engine 98,
pool fire. 1259 Tascoma Drive.

Cross street, Allan.

Biolight if you need it.

Rampart, this is County 51.

KELLY: Go ahead, 51.

Rampart, we have
a doctor at scene.

She is presently examining the
scalp laceration for particles of glass.

She requests your assistance. She's
a psychiatrist and she's out of practice.

10-4, 51. Standing by.

What's happening, Kel?

working on that scalp injury,

but she's a psychiatrist and
says she's out of practice.

It's kind of like riding a bicycle,
isn't it?

How's that? Some things
you never forget how to do.

[LAUGHS]

Okay, I've got it.

I need a fresh 4-by-4.

Okay.

[SIREN APPROACHING]

[TIRES SCREECHING]

I'm gonna go outside,
all right? Okay.

Says his name's Hank Harrison.
I found him lying in the street.

Okay. Terrible pain in my chest.

Can't... Can't get my breath.

All right, now,
when did this happen?

About twenty minutes ago.

Okay. I was pushing my car,
and...

[BREATHING HEAVILY]

It hit like a cannonball.

Better get a BP cuff. Yeah.

Okay, you got a pain in your chest,
huh? Mmm.

Anyplace else? No, sir.

Okay. Look, we're gonna try and
get some oxygen on you, all right?

Let me just get
a pulse on you here.

Try to relax as much
as possible. Okay?

All right. Pulse is 80.

Gonna need a scope,
some oxygen and a backboard. Backboard.

All right, can you help me,
Cap? Sure.

Okay, gonna get
a blood pressure on you.

Try to relax, okay? Okay.

Why don't you try to take
a slow, deep breath there?

There, that'
do it, that's it.

Cap,
you want to contact Rampart for us?

Rampart Emergency?

Cap, hand me that transformer.

Rampart, this is County 51.

Thanks.

Go ahead, 51.

We have a man of 55
with severe chest pains.

He's conscious and alert.
Please stand by for vitals.

Rampart, vitals are,
BP is 180 over 110,

our patient is pale
and diaphoretic.

We have him on 6 liters
of 02. He's patched in.

Okay. 24 on respiration,
equal and reactive.

Respirations are 24. Pupils
are equal and reactive.

Stand by. We're gonna be
sending you a strip on Lead 2.

with marked ST segment elevation.

Start an IV D5W and get 5
milligrams morphine sulphate.

If the pain continues,
give another five in five minutes.

IV D5W, 5 milligrams morphine.

All right,
I'll administer it in a second.

What is the ETA of
your transportation, 51?

Rampart, can't give you a definite
ETA because of the weather.

Can you get the respiration?

[INFLATING BP CUFF]

Rampart, this is County 51.

JOE: Go ahead, 51.

Rampart, we have another set of
vitals. The BP is now 140 over 90,

pulse is 100,
respirations are 24.

The patient's a little more
comfortable now, and less diaphoretic.

Stand by for another strip.

I read sinus rhythm, 51.

Fellows,
the air ambulance got another run.

They're responding with
Copter 15. ETA is 10 minutes.

They're setting up a
landing zone in the vacant lot.

Get them ready to move.

Okay, if you wanna watch him,

we'll go get the others ready.

Sure.

[BEEPING]

[GASPING]

Gage! DeSoto! He's arresting!

Okay, charge. One, two, three...

Clear!

Sinus rhythm.

[BUZZING]

We take her to Treatment 3. Tell
Dr. Morton to fill Rooms 1 and 2.

Okay. Let's go.

Unit calling, please repeat.

JOHNNY: Rampart,
this is County...

[THUNDER RUMBLING]

Power failure.

Rampart, this is County 51!

I don't understand this.
I heard them pick up.

The generator should
go on in a minute.

I better make sure all nonessential
power sources are shut off.

Okay.

Power failure.

Oh, no. We gotta get
medication into him.

Look,
what about 75 milligrams lidocaine bolus?

Good idea. It's a good drug,

but I'm not sure about the dose.

Well,
that's standard. Then go ahead.

[EKG BEEPING REGULARLY]

Ready? I'll try it again.

Rampart,
this is County 51. How do you read me?

Go ahead, County 51.

I read you loud and clear.

Rampart, on our Ml victim,
he went into V-fib.

We defibrillated once,
put him in sinus rhythm.

Our radio broke down and
Dr. Slade gave us permission

to give him 75 milligrams bolus
of lidocaine, plus a lidocaine drip.

We're sending you a strip.

I read sinus rhythm, 51.
Transport as soon as possible.

Oh, tell Dr. Slade
she did a good job.

You fellows did it, not me.

Okay, let's move them out.

We got a heart patient
over there,

hip patient over there,
the boy over here.

Okay. How you doing?

We're going to have to
move you out now. All right?

We'll take this off of you.

WOMAN OVER PA: Emergency crew,
we are on auxiliary power.

MI. Into 2.

Into 4.

MIKE: Dix, we got a bronchitis here,
and right behind is a hip.

All right, both into 1.

All right. Ma'am,
would you stay in the waiting room, please?

You stay right there
and wait for me, okay?

Into 4, please.

WOMAN ON PA: The pass road is now
full. Please hold all orthopedic patients.

Christine,
would you get me a 4-0 suture tray?

And order a skull series
and draw blood for CBC.

Yes, Doctor. Pulse, 90.

Hey, don't you worry.
You're going to be just fine.

Roy, I think I can
take it from here.

Why don't you check Mike in 1?

He might need
some help. All right.

Let's have someone do a sputum stain,
sputum culture.

Give another .4 ccs
of epinephrine

and set him up
for a chest x-ray.

I'd like to see it as soon
as possible. Yes, Doctor.

Okay. Now,
I'd like for you to breathe slowly for me,

out of your mouth... Doc,
you need any help?

No, no, no. Thank you, Roy.

How you feeling?

Oh, hello, Doctor!
I'm just great.

Oh, good. Just great.

Maybe we'll drop in and
see you a little later, all right?

Yes. Uh-huh.

One more time.

[JEFFREY INHALING]

That's a good lad.
Yeah. That's fine.

What's the story?

She's gonna be okay. We're
gonna send her to Radiology,

but I think it's just a strain.

All right.

Jeff, how you feeling?

Yeah? All right. He's okay.

We'll see you.

Bye, Roy.

Breathe for me one more time.

Open your mouth
and breathe slowly.

WOMAN ON PA: X-rays
will be delayed 45 minutes.

Oh, boy.

You guys going back up there?

Well, he wants to stay up there
until the road opens up again,

and that will be
at least another day.

Terrific.

I think we need
some new supplies.

I wouldn't doubt it.

Done? Yeah. How's
Mr. Harrison doing?

Oh, they say he's gonna be fine.

How's the guy
with the scalp injury?

He's gonna be fine.

[CHUCKLES] He's gonna be fine. Mine's
gonna be fine. Everybody's gonna be fine.

I'm not fine.

I still have to find a way
to break my date tomorrow.

Well, why don't you just
go in there and call her?

That phone in there
is working. I think I will.

You better hurry up, 'cause the
chopper's gonna be waiting for us.

Don't worry. All I
need is a few minutes.

Hi. Hey, Roy.

How you doing?
Listen, I understand

you're going to be isolated up in
Oakvale for at least another day.

Yeah. Yeah, looks that way.

Mmm. Since you're gonna be the only
medical service for the entire community,

Brackett wants me
to go back with you.

Oh! Well, we can use you.

Good. Listen,
I need to get some extra supplies.

Would you give me a hand?

Sure. Good. Good.

That's what friends are for.

[CHUCKLES]

Hello, is Debbie there?

Oh, she's gone for the day, huh?

Well...

Okay. Thank you.

All right.

[DIALING]

WOMAN ON PA: All blood
tests will be delayed one hour.

AH blood tests will...

[TAPPING ON DESK IMPATIENTLY]

[DIALING]

[RINGING]

Station 51. Lopez speaking.

Hey, Marco, this is Johnny.

Oh, Johnny! Hey, I thought you
and Roy were stuck up at Oakvale.

[STAMMERING] Yeah, we are. Marco,
listen to me for a second.

You remember the girl
that I had a date with?

Debbie, the maintenance clerk?
You remember?

Right. Okay. Now, listen to me.

Can you call her up
and cancel it for me?

We're gonna get stuck
up here for another day.

Chopper's waiting!

[INAUDIBLE]

Chopper! Chopper's waiting!

The drug box!

I gotta go-

Hey, Marco! Marco! Marco!

Marco, don't give
that number to Chet.

I won't give the number to Chet.

Okay. Bye.

Problem solved?

I think so.

Well! Your problem's solved.

Oh!

All right, thanks.
See you later.

Hi. Hi, Doc.

Dr. Slade, this is
Dr. Mike Morton.

Hello, Doctor.

I'm certainly glad
to meet you, Doctor.

Thank you. Well,
we're very grateful to you.

And I think between the two of us,
we'll be able

to have everything right under control,
mmm? Sure.

[ALARM SOUNDING]

[SIGHS] See you later.
Okey-doke.

Don't bring us
too much business, boys.

Listen, I brought
some supplies here,

and I think we've got about
everything that you'll need.

DISPATCHER: Engine 86,
Squad 51 out of station 86.

Vehicle accident with injuries.

Hill Drive near Foster Road.

Patrol 86 is responding.

Time out, 1530.

LA, Engine 86.
Squad 51 responding.

Let's go.

[SIREN WAILING]

[GROANING]

ROY: Give you a hand here?

[GRUNTING]

Got him? Got him?

Anybody else down there?

There's four more down there. I
don't know how bad they're hurt.

I got him out okay, but it just started
sliding. I couldn't take a chance.

Looks like she
may go any minute.

Are you hurt anywhere else? No,
I'm fine.

ROY: Can you
clean this off for me?

FIREMAN: No sweat.
I got a kit in the car.

LA, this is Engine 86. We have an
overturned passenger van on a deep slope.

There are five victims,
four still inside.

Request a helicopter
at this location.

DISPATCHER: 10-4
on the helicopter.

There will be a wait, W-A.

LA, have Patrol 86 bring us
a couple of extra Stokes.

10-4.

I was just bringing them
back from a college reunion.

Just lost it on the turn.

Don't worry about a thing, pal.

The firemen will get them out.

Let's take care of you first.

Chopper's gonna be delayed and Patrol 86
will be here with a couple of more Stokes.

Joe, we'll follow him down.

All right. Wanna give
me some room there?

Take the slack out of that.

VICTIM 1: My old lady is
gonna be sore at me.

VICTIM 2: Oh, I bet
they're swinging, too.

VICTIM 3: I wish I could
get right side up.

VICTIM 4: You look pretty good upside
down. Hey, somebody's coming to get us!

VICTIM 3: Hey, help!

[VICTIMS CLAMORING]

I'm going to start now. Here.

Can you toss that up on that side there,
a little closer?

Yeah.

Hey, you guys, you gotta help me
with my buddy. He's wedged in tight.

ROY: All right. Just hold on.

JOHNNY: Hey!

Hey, keep it down in there,
okay? Don't move around.

Boy, that's rather strange.

The front door's open.

This guy's jammed in there.
We'll never get in that way.

Okay.

Joe,
you wanna give me a hand over here?

Can you tie this off? And
I'll get the slack for you.

Got that?

JOHNNY: Cap? Yeah.

You think we should use Porta
Power to get these back doors open?

Sure do. Frank,
send down the Porta Power on a Stokes.

ROY: Okay. Let's see.

Okay.

Hurry UP!

ROY: All right. Just hold on.

All right. We got it. We got it.

Come on, you guys, hurry up.

We're hanging upside down here.

Get me out of here.

Okay. Are you hurt anywhere?

Oh, my head.

All right. Anyplace else? No.

See if we can get
your seat-belt here.

I'm gonna cut that thing,
all right? All right.

[SIREN APPROACHING]

Hey, Joe?

Easy.

JOHNNY: As soon as we get him out of here,
why don't you...

Let us get you out.
All right. Here we are.

Okay.

Okay. Watch the rope, buddy.

That's it. Right
in there. Got him?

[GRUNTING]

JOHNNY: Can you slide
out that way? I can make it.

All right. You can
move both legs?

ROY: Okay, come on
toward me. Okay.

JOHNNY: Hey, Cap,
we need a hand in here!

Come on.

You guys been drinking a
little bit in here, haven't you?

Yes, you can say that again.

[SIREN APPROACHING]

VICTIM: You gotta help me
with my buddy!

Are you hurt anywhere?

No,
I'm okay. But you gotta help me with him.

ROY: Okay, now,
you gotta get out of here, all right?

Well, I'll give you
a hand with my buddy.

No, I just want you
to get out of here.

Come on,
I know you've been drinking,

but, look, the best way to get
him out is to get you out first.

All right, take it up.

Now, you take care of my buddy.

All right, look,
I got him. I got him.

You're just gonna have to get
out of here. Cap, grab this guy.

ROY: I'm gonna need
some help up here.

Roy, what's it look like?

Well, his arm's pinned
in here real tight.

What is it? The engine?

Well, it's pinned in between
the seat here and the frame.

I'm gonna need a Porta Power!

Okay. Hang on for a second.

I don't need that. I
can make it up that hill.

That's okay, buddy, you're gonna
take a nice little ride. That's it.

Oh, I could enjoy a ride.

I'm gonna need some help. Joe?

Okay'? Okay -doke.

Bring him up! I'm gonna
need one more Stokes!

Let's see, where
should I put it?

I guess right here.
Just get it...

Wait a minute. Let
me get a foot in there.

I think it's the elbow.

Okay. Go.

Are we doing any good, Roy?

Just keep it coming, all right?

[METAL CREAKING]

How's that?

ROY: A little more.

All right. Almost got it.

Okay. I got it.

All right. All
right. Let it loose.

One of you guys grab that?

Okay.

Okay.

All right.

JOHNNY: Let's see. I better
lift him up a little from here.

Yeah. If you can just pull him straight up,
we can pull him out.

Okay.

I'll see if I can shift
his legs over here.

You got him?

ROY: Just pull him straight.

Hey, Cap!

We're gonna need some help.

[METAL BUCKLING]

Here's that new drill schedule.

Why don't you put it up and
get that other thing off of there?

That's out of date.

Welcome back, you guys. I thought
you'd transferred permanently to 86's.

We've had three days
of straight duty.

Yeah? I'm ready for a day off.

Mmm. Me,
too. I'm gonna spend mine sailing.

I'm gonna call Debbie.

[sum-nus]

I wouldn't do that
if I were you.

Oh, really? Why not?

[HOARSELY] Tell him, Chet.

[sums]

Well, it started out we were
trying to do you a favor, right?

Well, we talked to Debbie,

and it was such a beautiful
day the day after the storm...

Wait a minute.

Marco, I told you
to call Debbie.

I did call Debbie.

She was very
disappointed. Wait a minute.

Why are you talking like that?

He'll get to that.
Go ahead, Marco.

I didn't have the heart
to ruin her day,

so I told her that I'd take
her out sailing for you.

You mean you both
took her sailing?

We didn't plan it that way.
That's just...

It's the way it worked out.

MARCO: Chet took us out to
sea and we couldn't get back.

CHET: Yeah. Marco lost
his voice yelling for help.

MARCO: We had to get towed
back in by the Coast Guard.

Oh, John, it was a horrible day.

And that's why I told you not to call her,
because she said

she never wants to go out
with a firefighter again in her life.

MARCO: We were just trying
to do you a favor, John, honest.

That's right. I mean,
what are friends for? Right, Marco?

Right.
