♪ We've got friends of every size ♪

♪ Building words before our eyes ♪

♪ Nothing's better than a letter ♪

♪ They hold our world together ♪

♪ With Dog ♪ And Sheep ♪ And Duck ♪ And Pig

♪ There's always a surprise! ♪

[barks]

KIDS: Word World!

[croaks]

[whimpers]

[giggles]

♪ Welcome to our world

KIDS: Word World!

KIDS: Word World!

♪ It's a beautiful world

♪Word World.♪

KIDS: Yay!

NARRATOR: On this clear day in Word World,

Frog was using his telescope to help Robot

look for something very special in the sky.

[Robot whirs]

We're looking for a spaceship.

[humming]

[croaks] There it is!

Let me see.Oh, let me see!

Let me see!Let me see.

FROG: Space... ship.

Spaceship.

KIDS: Spaceship!

BUG: Hey! Those were just two separate words,

and now they're one word.

[stammers] How did that happen?

Well, it's a special thing that some words do.

Two words can come together to make a whole new word.

Check it out.

♪ Space is the sky and stars above ♪♪Space♪

♪ A ship floats anyplace ♪Ship♪

♪ Together they make spaceship

♪ A ship that floats through space ♪♪Spaceship♪

♪ One word means one thing ♪Space♪

♪ The other word means another ♪Ship♪

♪ But when they come together ♪Spaceship♪

♪ They build upon each other.

Spaceship! Spaceship!

Hooray! Hooray!

All my robot friends are gathering

in their spaceships to play spaceship tag.

Spaceship tag?

[croaks, giggles] That sounds like fun.

It is!

[ticking]My robo-clock

tells me the game begins in one hour.

I must go to my spaceship and join them.

Well, where is your spaceship, Robot?

[whirs]

There!

On top of the mountain.

BUG: Wow!

Your spaceship is pretty far away, Robot.

My robo-clock tells me, if I don't hurry,

I will never make it to my spaceship

in time to play tag.

Well, we can't have that.

Don't you worry, Robot.

I'll get you to your spaceship in time.

I won't let you down.

Hooray for Frog! Hooray for Frog!

NARRATOR: So the WordFriends set out by car

to get to the top of the mountain,

but there was a problem.

[ticking]

My robo-clock tells me we are not going fast enough

to get to my spaceship in time.

Drive faster, Frog,

or Robot will miss his game of spaceship tag.

I'm going as fast as the car can.

[Duck humming]

Howdy, Frog.

[croaks]

Duck, what are you doing here?

I'm just flying by.

[Duck humming]

[Frog groans]

Come on, car.

You've got to go faster than this.

[humming]

[groans]

[tires screech]

This car just doesn't go fast enough.

Yeah. We need a car that can race there.

Did you say "race"?

That's it. We need a race car.

Where are we going to get a race car all the way out here?

We'll just use the word "car"

to build a new word.

Huh? We'll see the who to do what now?

Just watch.

Letters, Robot!

♪ One word means one thing ♪Race♪

♪ The other word means another ♪Car♪

♪ But when they come together ♪Race car♪

♪ They build upon each other.

Race car! Race car!

KIDS: Race car!

Hey.

You just changed what kind of car we're driving

by adding a word to it.

Race... car.

Race car.

ROBOT [whirs]: A very fast car.

I told you I wouldn't let you down, Robot.

[Robot whirs]

ALL: To the spaceship!

[engine revving]

Whoa... [quacks]

Oh! [pants]

Wait for me!

[Duck yells]

[sighs]

NARRATOR: Now that the car was a race car,

Frog could drive much faster

toward Robot's spaceship on the mountain.

ROBOT: There's the mountain.

FROG: Yes, there it is.

Right across the sea.

Well, we can't cross the sea in a race car.

Oh, no.

How will I ever get to my spaceship now?

Never fear, Robot.

I won't let you down.

We'll make it to your spaceship in time.

We'll just use that boat over there.

NARRATOR: So the WordFriends jumped in the boat

and headed across the sea to the mountain.

Are we there yet? No.

Are we there yet?

No.

Are we there yet?[croaks]

[Frog groans]

Caw-caw.Caw-caw.

Caw-caw.Caw-caw.

BUG: Um... Frog?

Those pelicans are moving faster than we are.

My robo-clock tells me

that if we continue at this speed,

we will not make it to my spaceship in time for the game.

[grunting]

It's no use.

This boat is just not fast enough.

Come on, boat!

Don't you know we have the need for speed?

Did you say "speed"?

That's it!

We need a speedboat.

[whirs]

A boat that goes really fast.

Of course!

That's our Frog!

He won't let us down.

Letters, Robot.

♪ One word means one thing ♪Speed♪

♪ The other word means another ♪Boat♪

♪ But when they come together ♪Speedboat♪

♪ They build upon each other. ♪

ALL: Speedboat!

KIDS: Speedboat!

[stammering]: You did it again, Frog!

You... you just changed the kind of boat we're using

but adding a word to it.

Speed... boat.

DUCK: Speedboat!

[whirs]

A very fast boat.

I told you I wouldn't let you down, Robot.

ALL: To the spaceship!

[all whooping]

NARRATOR: Now that the boat was a speedboat,

the WordFriends quickly crossed the sea

and made it to the mountain.

There, they found a bike

to ride up to the top of the mountain

where Robot had left his spaceship.

[Frog grunting and panting]

Are we there yet?BUG: No.

Are we there yet?

Duck! I'm just asking.

Frog needs to concentrate.

[whirs]

You are doing well, Frog.

[straining]: I... won't...

let... you...

[crashing]

FROG: ...down.

Frog down! Frog down!

Oh, dear.

[gasps] Oh, no!

Frog!

Poor, green, exhausted "won't let you down" Frog.

[sighs]

Oh, Robot, I promised to get you

to your spaceship in time for your game of tag,

but I can't pedal that bike any further.

[sighs]

I've let you down.

[whirring]

You have not let me down, Frog.

I have asked too much of you.

Yeah. After all, Frog's legs

aren't made of motors.

Did you say "motors"?

That's it! Why ride a bike uphill

when we could ride a motorbike?

Letters, Robot!

♪ One word means one thing ♪♪Motor♪

♪ The other word means another ♪♪Bike♪

♪ But when they come together ♪Motorbike♪

♪ The build upon each other.

ALL: Motorbike!

KIDS: Motorbike!

BUG: Frog, you genius.

You just changed what kind of bike we're riding

by adding a word to it.

Motor... bike.

Motorbike!

[whirs]

A bike with a motor to go fast.

Hop on.

It's almost time for spaceship tag to begin.

[Robot whirs]

ALL: To the spaceship!

NARRATOR: Now that their bike was a motorbike,

the WordFriends zoomed up to the top of the mountain.

ALL: We made it! We made it!

Oh, Frog, you didn't let me down.

Now I can play spaceship tag.

Uh, Robot, I don't mean to be a party pooper or nothing,

but your spaceship looks like it's broken into two words.

Space ship.

What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do?!

If we put those two words together,

we'll have a new word that builds on the others.

All we have to do is...

ALL: Build a word!

♪ It's time to build a word

♪ Let's build it, let's build it now. ♪

Space... ship.

KIDS: Spaceship!

♪ Yeah, we just built a word

♪ We built it, we built it.

[ticking]

[bell ringing]

Oh, thank you, Frog.

Now I can play spaceship tag.

Have fun, Robot.

[laughs]: You did it, Frog!

You got Robot here in time to play spaceship tag.

Yeah.

[sighs]

I sure would love to play a game of spaceship tag.

ROBOT: Frog?

Yes?

Would you like to play

spaceship tag with me?

[laughs]

Would I?! [croaks]

Thanks, Robot.

[whirs]

Oh, thank you, Frog.

[ship powering up]

BOTH: Yay!

[both chattering excitedly]

It's flying, look at that!

Yippee-skippy!It really is a spaceship.

NARRATOR: Frog had kept his promise

and brought Robot to his spaceship in time.

Frog was happy he had not let his WordFriend down.

ROBOT: Oh! FROG:Woo-hoo!

Whee![croaks]

[laughs]

Try to catch me! Whoa!

NARRATOR: Very, very happy indeed.

You're it! Try to catch me!

The end.

KIDS: Radio!



Hey, Word World!

Here's a bouncy b*at to get your heart pumping

and your feet moving.

Get up and move, Word World.

♪ Shake your letters, Dog

NARRATOR: On this sunny day in Word World,

Duck and Dog were playing in the playground.

[barks][laughs]

Woo and hoo!

[laughs, grunts]

Ouch.

Landing on the ground is a little hard on my feathers.

[chatters]

And on your tail, too?

[sighs]

You know, Dog, it would be great if we could come down the slide

and land in something soft.

[chatters]

[barks]

So what is soft around here?

[chatters]

Huh?

[howls]

[shudders]

Great idea, Dog!

Let's move this sandbox

over to the bottom of the slide.

[chatters]

[both straining]

Come on, sandbox!

You're... coming... with... us!

[both grunt]

[chatters]: Uh-oh.

Don't worry, Dog.

We can fix it.

You get those letters and I'll get these.

[quacks]

S-A-N-D.

KIDS: Sand!

[gasps]

Hold on a second.

And even a whole second longer.

This isn't our sandbox.

This is just sand.

Oh.

Uh, you try, Dog.

B-O-X.

KIDS: Box!

[chatters]: Huh?

Huh?

And that's not the sandbox either.

That's just a box!

What is going on?!

[groans]

[gasps]

[barks]

[gasps]

You're right, Dog!

When we pulled apart "sandbox," it changed.

It's something different now.

"Sand" and "box"-- two new words.

♪ Sandbox, sandbox, stuck together tight ♪

♪ Pull it apart with all our might ♪

♪ Pull, pull, pop

♪ What do you see?

[gasps]

♪ "Sand" and "box," two words, yippee. ♪

I wonder if there are more words like that in Word World--

words you can pull apart and change

into two new words.

[chatters, pants]

Yeah, Dog.

Great idea.

Let's find more words to pull apart.

NARRATOR: So, Duck and Dog ran off to find

other words to pull apart, while not too far away,

Sheep was getting ready

to play dress up.

I just have to throw on my costume.

And a-one... two... three!

[horn honks]

I'm Clown Sheep.

Oops. Well, I-I almost forgot.

My clown shoes.

They're the funniest.

[horn honks]

I keep them in this shoe box so they won't bounce away.

Oh!

[grunts]

Close one.

Clown shoes have minds of their own.

Whoa! Whoa!

Whoa!

[whimpers]

[Duck quacking]

Well, fluff my feathers.

"Shoe" and "box."

Shoe box.

[laughs] Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

♪ Shoe box, shoe box, stuck together tight ♪

♪ Pull it apart with all our might ♪

♪ Pull, pull, pop

♪ What do you see?

♪ "Shoe" and "box"

♪ Two words, yippee!

[quacks] Let's go find another word to pull apart.

[barking]

Oh, Sheep won't mind.

We made two words out of one for her.

She'll thank us.

Come on, Dog.

[moaning]

[pants, barks]

SHEEP: Whoa!

Whoa! [sighs]

All right, shoes.

Time to put you back in your shoe box.

[stammers] Hey.

What happened to my shoe box?

Here's a shoe, and here's a box.

But what I really need is a box for my shoes.

My shoe box.

I can't take these shoes off

if I don't have a shoe box to put them in!

[gasps] Oh, no!

I'm going to be wearing these clown shoes forever!

Whoa! Whoa!

[barking]

[gasps] Clever dog.

"Mailbox" is made up of two words, too.

"Mail" and "box."

♪ Mailbox, mailbox, stuck together tight ♪

♪ Pull it apart with all our might ♪

♪ Pull, pull, pop

♪ What do you see?

♪ "Mail" and box"

♪ Two words, yippee! [barks]

Here's some mail, and here's a box.

[laughs] Yeah!

Let's go find more words we can pull apart!

NARRATOR: Right after Dog and Duck left,

along came Pig, looking for a mailbox.

Today is the last day to enter the Big sh*t Chef Competition.

I have to hurry and mail in my entry.

[stammers] Wait.

Where's the mailbox?

[gasps]

NARRATOR: Watch out, Pig.

Don't slip on the...

Mail! Whoa!

NARRATOR: Oh, and look out for that...

Box!

[screaming]

NARRATOR: Meanwhile, Duck and Dog headed for Frog's log

to see if Frog might have a word they could pull apart, too.

[humming]

There!

My a*t*matic robo vacuum cleaner is complete!

Now I never have to clean again!

Oh! I don't want my tools to get vacuumed up.

I'd better put them away in my toolbox.

[humming]

And now...

[whirring]Success! It works!

[croaks]

[gasps] Dog, look!

A toolbox.

I hear two words stuck together in "toolbox."

"Tool" and "box."

♪ Toolbox, toolbox, stuck together tight ♪

♪ Pull it apart with all our might ♪

♪ Pull, pull, pop

♪ What do you see?

♪ "Tool" and "box"

♪ Two words, yippee!

We were right!

"Tool" and "box" make "toolbox."

Now, there's a thingamadoodle you don't see every day.

Oh, no!

It sucked up the tool and the box!

Duck, Dog, what happened to my vacuum cleaner?

What? [laughing]: Oh.

It's a funny story.

We sort of, kind of...

ALL: Whoa, whoa, whoa!

[all screaming]

[Duck quacking]

ALL: Whoa! Whoa!

SHEEP: Whoa...

[all screaming]

Look out!

Oh, dear!

[all grunt]

[all grunt]

[groans]

Aha!

So that's the problem.

My vacuum cleaner sucked up this tool and this box.

Where did they come from?

[sputtering]

Well, you see, we made them

by pulling apart your toolbox, Frog!

And we pulled apart your shoe box

to make a shoe and a box.

And we pulled apart the mailbox

to make mail and box.

We made two new words out of one for each of you.

[chuckles] Isn't that great?

No! No! No!

Duck, I need my toolbox to store my tools.

And I need my shoe box to hold my clown shoes.

And I need a mailbox to send my mail.

Oh.[groans]

Sorry.

If only there was some way to fix them.

[moans] [sighs]

[gasps, barking]

[gasps] You're right!

We can fix them! [quacks]

Clever dog.

♪ Hold on and you'll see

♪ "Shoe" and "box" KIDS: Shoe box!

♪ A box for shoes

♪ "Tool" and "box" KIDS: Toolbox!

♪ A box for tools

♪ "Mail" and "box" KIDS: Mailbox!

♪ A box for mail.

Whee! Yahoo! [howling]

[barks, pants]

Right, Dog.

We still have two more words

to put back together before we're done.

We also pulled apart our sandbox

into "sand" and "box."

So gather around, WordFriends,

'cause it's time to...

ALL: Build a word!

♪ It's time to build a word

♪ Let's build it, let's build it now! ♪

Sand... box.

KIDS: Sandbox!

♪ Yeah, we just built a word

♪ We built it, we built it!

A sandbox!

A box for sand.

We sure are sorry we caused such a muss and a fuss.

[quacks]It's okay, Duck.

You were trying to understand how words work.

That's always a good thing.

[howls] Whoo-hoo!

[grunts]

[laughing]

What are you waiting for?

The sand is fine. [quacks]

[all giggling]

NARRATOR: So we end our story

right where we began: in a sandbox.
