KIDS: Word World!

[croaks]

[whimpers]

[giggles]

NARRATOR: It was wintertime in Word World,

and the perfect time for some winter fun.

KIDS: Skates!

And what is more fun in the winter than ice-skating?

[croaks]

Hi, Sheep.

Are you ready to practice for our big ice-skating show?

I sure am!

We just need to build an ice-skating rink.

BOTH: Let's do it!

[laughing]

So, uh... uh, how do we build a rink, Frog?

Well...

♪ Let's think, let's think

♪ What makes a rink?

♪ "Rink" has the sounds of "r" and "ink" ♪

♪ I-N-K makes the sound of "ink" ♪

♪ Add the "r" and you have a rink. ♪

KIDS: Rink!

Oh, Frog, it's perfect!

It's big, it's round, and the ice is nice and smooth.

Let's try it!

Oh, uh, uh, don't forget your skates, Frog.

Thanks, Sheep.

[croaks]

Let's practice our moves for the show, Frog.

[chuckling]: Okay.

[laughs, croaks]

Well done, Sheep.

I think you mean...

Figure Skater Sheep!

This is going to be

the most spectacular ice-skating show ever!

[croaks, laughs]

It is.

Come on!

Let's keep practicing.

Okay. Let's skate!

NARRATOR: While Sheep and Frog practiced carefully

for their big ice-skating show,

Dog and Duck came by.

[gasps] Wow!

Did you see that?

Uh-huh. Uh-huh. [pants]

Hiya, Frog!

Hiya, Sheep!

That sure looks like fun.

Oh, it is fun, Duck!

But putting on an ice-skating show takes a lot of practice.

Ice-skating show?!

You're putting on a show?

Yes. That's what we're practicing for.

Hey. Um, can we be in your ice-skating show?

Ooh. Uh, well, I... I don't know.

Can you skate?

Can we skate? [chuckles]

Can we skate?!

Of course we can skate!

We skate great. Isn't that right?

Uh-huh. Uh-huh. [pants, barks]

You also have to be careful when you skate,

so that no one gets hurt.

Can you be careful?

Can we be careful?

Can we... be careful?

We'll be extra carefully careful.

Uh-huh. [pants]

That's right, Dog. We promise.

Please.

[moaning]

Well... okay.

Hoo and ray!

[panting, barks]

Thanks, Dog.

Ooh. Just remember to be careful on the ice.

Huh? What? Yeah, careful.

Ice, yeah. We got it.

KIDS: Skates!

Aha!

Careful means you have to think about what you're doing.

You have to think in this rink.

Think, rink, bada-bink. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Come on, Dog! Let's skate!

Look out, ice!

Here we come!

Whoa. Whoa.[frightened barking]

[laughing]

All right!

Ya and hoo![howling]

I think we're in for trouble.

[croaks]

When I count to three, we'll jump!

Got it.

Okay. Ready?

One, two...

DUCK: Watch out! Coming through!

Whoa...Whoa...

[both grunt]

Ouch.

[sighs] Hey!

What did you think of our move?

Uh, Duck, you made us fall down.

That's why you have to be careful.

If you're not careful, someone could get hurt.

Oh.

[moans apologetically]

I'm sorry, too.

We'll be very, very, very careful from now on.

I promise.

Okay, Duck.

Just remember to think and be careful in the rink.

Uh, think in the rink, think in the rink. Right.

Oh, uh, why don't we all practice skating backwards?

The key is to be careful

not to go too fast

or come too close to the edge of the rink.

Now it's my turn.

[humming]

See? I'm always thinking about where I am.

[laughs] That looks easy.

You could do that, Dog.

[moans] Yes, really.

Go ahead.

[moaning]

[sighs]

There you go, Dog!

[barking]

You can go faster than that, Dog.

Here, let me show you.

[Duck humming]

Whoo and hoo!

Now we're moving!

Oh! Careful, Dog and Duck!

You're going too fast!

ALL: Whoa!

Ow!

FROG: Ooh, look out for the edge of the rink!

DUCK: The edge?

Where? [quacks]

Don't be silly.

They're not going to make it.

DUCK: Don't worry about it.

We're doing fine.

[gasps] Whoa! Whoa!

NARRATOR: Oh, no.

Without the letter "r," the rink turned into...

KIDS: Ink!

BOTH: Uh-oh.

[groaning]

I think...

I'm going to sink...

BOTH: In ink!

Oh, no! [croaks]

The rink is ruined!

And my spectacular costume is... ruined.

And where did all this ink come from?

FROG: It came from you, Duck!

Me?

Well, yes.

You and Dog weren't being careful,

and you knocked the letter "r" right out of the rink.

And without the "r" sound, our rink turned to...

[grunts]

...ink.

[gasps] We broke the rink.

[whines]

Because we weren't careful.

[moaning]

[sniffles]Uh-huh.

I'm really sorry, too.

I'm sorry I broke the rink,

and I'm sorry I made such an inky mess.

Oh. How am I ever going to get this ink off my costume?

Hmm.

Let's think.

[gasps, barks]

Dog, what are you... doing?

Now is no time to be digging around in the snow!

[barks]

DUCK: The letter "S"?

What do we need that for?

Of course!

[croaks] Clever dog.

The letter "S."

It makes the "s" sound.

If we add it to the ink, we'll have a...

Sink!

And we can wash ourselves clean in a sink.

♪ What makes a sink?

KIDS: Sink.

Now we can use the sink to wash off the ink.

♪ Turned into ink

♪ We all got covered in the ink ♪

♪ We said, "Let's think," to clean this ink ♪

♪ We need to wash up in a sink

♪ The sink, the sink helped us clean the ink ♪

♪ We think we've cleaned up in a blink. ♪

[cheering]Yay!

Hooray!

I look spectacular again.

Oh, uh, uh, Figure Skater Sheep

all ready to skate.

But we don't have a rink.

Oh.

And without a rink,

we won't be able to put on our ice-skating show.

[sighs]: Oh.

No!

The show must go on!

[quacks]

We just have to think.

How do we get back the rink?

♪ The sink, the sink helps clean the ink ♪

♪ But now we need a skating rink ♪

♪ The sink, let's think, what makes a rink? ♪

KIDS: Rink!

♪ Yeah, we just built a word

♪ We built it, we built it.

Yay!

We have our rink back!

[croaks]

Ooh. Our ice-skating show will go on, after all.

NARRATOR: All the WordFriends were excited

to see the ice-skating show.

Frog and Sheep skated spectacularly,

careful not to make any mistakes.

And another skating team was just as careful.

And just as spectacular.

[barking]

[spectators oohing]

[applause]

NARRATOR: Bravo, WordFriends.

KIDS: Duck!

That's me! Guess what time it is.

It's snack time!

♪ I got bananas, a tasty treat ♪

♪ And I've got apples juicy and sweet ♪

♪ I've got candy, cake and more ♪

♪ Sodas, cookies, sweets galore ♪

Sweets galore, indeed!

You've got a sweet tooth, my friend.

Which one's his sweet tooth, Crab?

He's got lots of teeth, you know.

Get your head out of there.

A sweet tooth means that you like to eat foods

that have a lot of sugar.

But too much sugar isn't good for you.

You might lose a tooth.

But I love my teeth!

Then have a listen to what this crab has to say.

♪ When you want a snack to eat

♪ It's smart to choose a healthy treat ♪

♪ What you eat can make you stronger ♪

♪ You can play a whole lot longer ♪

♪ Don't eat cake, it's much too sweet ♪

♪ Have a pear, a tasty treat

♪ If you're thirsty, no, no soda ♪

♪ Drink some milk, it's better for ya ♪

♪ Carrots, corn, nuts and berries ♪

♪ Eating these will make you stronger ♪

♪ A juicy apple, bananas and cherries... ♪

Duck was helping Frog build a most excellent machine.

Why, I sure am, Mr. Narrator.

I'm helping Frog build a, uh...

What you call it again, Frog?

An X-ray machine.

A what-ray?

An X-ray.

It's a machine that lets you see

inside all kinds of things.

Oh.

It can see inside your tummy.

[quacks]

And show us what you had for lunch.

But to build it, we'll need an extraordinary letter.

A letter that looks like two lines

crossing in the middle.

Hey, I know that letter.

It's the letter "X."

Right!

"X" is the letter that puts the "X" in "X-ray."

And I happen to have one right here.

What-- Uh-oh.

I'm all out of the letter "X."

[croaks]

Oh, I can't build my X-ray machine.

Ah, don't worry, Frog.

I happen to have one of them letter "X" thingamadoodles

back in my nest.

You do?

Yep. I'll go get it.

[quacks]

Incoming!

[grunts]

[shudders]

[sighs]

Where are you, letter "X"?

Frog needs you to build his X-ray.

Uh, my letter "A."

Oh, my tuba.

[plays low note]

Whoa, whoa!

[grunts]

[squeaks]: X.

I like that sound.

[gasps]

I was playing with it, but then I tripped and I lost it.

NARRATOR: Um, Duck?

Not now, Mr. Narrator.

I'm looking for my letter "X."

Have you seen it, Shark?

No, Duck, but I'll help you look for it.

[squeaks]: X.

[gasps]

What was that?

What was what?

[squeaks]: X. [quacks]

Listen! There it goes again.

NARRATOR: Duck didn't know it, but every time Shark moved,

the letter "X" made a sound in his tummy.

[squeaks]: X.

[gasps]

It's my letter "X."

I think it came from over here.

[gasps] Where?

[squeaks]: X.

No, no, it must be over there.

[squeaks]: X.

Oh, wait.

I think it's coming from hereandthere.

I got to find that letter "X."

Come on, Shark.

Follow me!

Okay, Duck!

[squeaking]: X, X, X.

NARRATOR: So Duck and Shark went in search of Duck's lost letter "X."

[squeaks]: X!

[gasps] Here it is again!

The sound of my letter "X"!

It must be around here somewhere.

Two lines crossed in the middle.

[whistle blowing]

[Duck gasps]

There it is!

The letter "X" on the train!

Come back, letter "X"!

[humming] [quacking]

Huh?

[Duck blubbers]

[grunts]

[blubbering]

[grunting]

Uh, what are you doing, Duck?

Oh, hi, Kangaroo.

See, Frog and I wanted to build an X-ray machine

but he didn't have a letter "X," so I got my letter "X."

But then I lost it. Now here it is, my letter "X."

[quacks]

Duck, that's not your letter "X."

It's part of this box.

Yes. See?

B-O-X. Box.

And I'm delivering this box to Cat.

Oh. [quacks]

Sorry.

That's okay, Duck.

Good luck finding your letter "X."

[sighs]

Aw, don't worry, Duck, you'll find it.

[squeaks]: X!

Wait, I hear it again.

[hushed]: It's right over there

in those bushes.

but then I lost it.

Then I found another letter "X," but it wasn't my letter "X."

So Shark and I kept looking, and what do you know?

We found your letter "X," but not mine.

Ah, no harm done.

I hope you find your letter "X."

It's an excellent letter. I can't do without it.

Well, cheerio and good luck.

Oh, where, oh, where is my letter "X"?

I don't know, Duck,

but my tummy is starting to feel funny.

[squeaks]: X! [quacks]

There it is again, the sound of my "X."

[quacks]

[groans]

Huh?

Your move, little buddy.

I'll put my "O" here.

Try to b*at me now, big buddy.

[chuckles] Nice try, Ant,

I've got tic-tac...

DUCK: Incoming!Oh! Oh, no!

Oh![grunts]

[grunting]

[blubbers, groans]

[squeaks]: X!

[gasps]

Letter "X," I gotcha![quacks]

Duck, what are you doing?

This is my letter "X."

I just found it.

Huh? What are you quacking about, Duck?

That's my letter "X."

I'm using it to play tic-tac-toe with Ant.

And now we need to start all over.

There you are, Duck.

Oh, I've been looking everywhere for you.

Did you find your letter "X" yet?

Oh, Frog, I don't understand it.

There are letter X's everywhere,

but none of themis mine.

[quacks]

[squeaks]: X!

[all gasp]

What was that?

My tummy. [groaning]

Shark, what's the matter?

It's my stomach, it really hurts.

Oh, no, poor Shark!

Where does it hurt, Shark?

Right here.

[squeaks]: X!

[Duck gasps]

[squeaks]: X!Ow!

[squeaks]: X!Ow!

Well, I'll be.

Shark, every time we touch your tummy,

it makes the "X" sound.

[squeaks]: X!

Hey, you're right!

I think I know what's wrong with Shark's stomach,

but I'll need to take an X-ray of it to be sure.

But, but we can't build an X-ray machine

because we don't have a letter "X."

Oh! [quacks]

What are we gonna do?!

Duck, you can use one of my "X" letters.

We're just playing a game, after all.

[laughs]Hoo and ray!

[gasps]

That's what must be giving you a stomachache.

Well, let's get it out of there.

Open wide, Shark!

And don't worry, I'm a ducktor.

[grunts] Not that.

Oops... [quacks] It's in here somewhere.

My tuba again?

[plays note] No!

Whoa... Just a moment, Shark.

Aha, I got it, my letter "X." [quacks]

Does that make your tummy feel better, Shark?

It sure does.

My tummy ache is all gone.

[squeaks]: X! X!

[all laugh]

Whoo and hoo!

And I have something for Shark.

Well, every time you go to the doctor, you get a...

SHARK: Lollipop?

Purple? My favorite!

Now be careful what you eat next time, Shark.

Yep, I'll be careful.

[all laugh]

NARRATOR: Yes, the letter "X" is all around, everywhere you look.

But sometimes it takes an "X" to find an "X":

an X-ray.
