NARRATOR: It was a glorious, sunny day in Word World.

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

You know what we're doing today, don't you?

NARRATOR: I certainly do.

Today, the WordFriends are getting together

to play one of their favorite games.

ALL: Baseball!

♪ We're going to play baseball

♪ We're playing all day

♪ Baseball

♪ Grab bases and a ball and that's not all ♪

♪ Get your glove and a bat, we can't do without that ♪

♪ We're going to play baseball

♪ We'll play it all day

♪ Baseball

♪ I've got the bases for running around ♪

DUCK: Yeah, Frog!

♪ I've got the baseball so nice and round ♪

♪ I've got the glove, can't catch without that ♪

♪ And look out, WordFriends, 'cause I've got the bat. ♪

[sighs, gasps]

[gasps]

Where's my bat? Quack, quack.

Uh, oh, um... [mutters]

I'm sure it's in my nest somewhere.

Uh, go ahead.

I'll catch up. Okay.

Don't be too long, now, Duck.

I'll be right there with the bat.

Um, oh, okay.

Now, where's that bat at?

Uh, mmm, oh... aha!

Here are the letters for my bat.

Now, all we have to do is build a word.

♪ It's time to build a word

♪ Let's build it, let's build it now! ♪

The letter "B" makes the "buh" sound.

And the letters "A" and "T" make the "at" sound.

"Buh," "at."

KIDS: Bat!

♪ Yeah, we just built a word

♪ We built it, we built it! ♪

Yeah![baseball stadium music plays]

And you know what I'm going to do with this bat?

I'm going to swing this bat and hit that baseball.

[sputtering]

Where'd that "B" go?

I got the letters "A" and "T."

They make the "at" sound.

Now, I need the letter "B" for the "buh" sound.

Um... oh.

Got it!

Oops, not it.

Um, hmm...

[grunts]

Huh? Unh-uh.

[plays note]

Where, oh, where is that letter "B"?

Um, excuse me, Duck?

Huh?

It might be easier to find the "B"

if you clean up your nest.

Quack, quack.

There's no time, Spider.

Everyone is waiting for me.

Here, this letter "M" will have to do.

But, Duck, you need the letter "B"

because "B" makes the "buh" sound in bat.

"Buh," "at."

Oh, what's the difference?

A letter's a letter, quack, quack.

KIDS: Mat!

Uh... quack, quack.

A letter can make a big difference, Duck.

The letter "M" makes the "mmm" sound.

So you've built a mat.

Huh? A mat?

Quack, quack.

Hitting a ball with a mat is going to be hard.

But I, D-U-C-K, Duck,

can hit that baseball with anything.

Duck?Duck, let's play ball!

NARRATOR: All the WordFriends were waiting for Duck

at the baseball field so they could finally play ball.

Here comes Duck!

NARRATOR: So Duck rushed back to his nest

to look for the missing letter "B."

DUCK: Buh-buh-B?

Where are you, letter "B"?

I need you to make my bat.

Come out, come out, wherever you are!

You know, Duck,

it might be easier to find the missing letter "B"

if you clean up your nest.

No time to clean, Spider.

We're about to start a game.

Oh, I can't find that "B" anywhere.

This letter "H" will have to do.

But, Duck, you need the letter "B,"

because "B" makes the "buh" sound in bat.

"Buh," "at."

Ah, what's the difference?

KIDS: Hat!

Uh... quack, quack.

You see, Duck,

all the WordFriends were still waiting for Duck,

so that they could start their game.

DUCK: I'm coming!

[all cheering]

♪ I've got the glove, can't catch without that ♪

♪ And look out, WordFriends

♪ 'Cause I've got the hat.

Duck! Duck! Duck!

What?

You can't bat with a hat.

Watch me.

Um, oh...

Hatter up!

Come on, Bear.

Play ball!

Okay. Here goes.

[grunts]

Quack, quack, quack, quack...

Oh, my! Quack!

Oh, dear.

Did I hit it?

Uh, strike two, Duck.

Oh, Duck, you can't hit the baseball

with just anything.

Oh, I know, I know.

I really do need a bat.

And to build a bat, I need the letter "B."

It makes the "buh" sound in buh-at, bat.

So why do you keep using other letters instead?

Because my nest is such a mess, I can't find the letter "B."

And it'll take too long to clean up my nest.

It won't if we help you.

You'd do that?

NARRATOR: When suddenly, the wind started to blow very hard.

Toodle-oo. Oh!

Finally, Monkey's house.

Phew. Hi, Monkey.

Quack, quack. Sure is windy today.

Yeah. A rainstorm is coming this way.

[wind whistling]Huh?

Wow, that sure is a big rain cloud.

Well, we can always play inside your house

where it's warm and dry.

Oh, no! My r-r-roof!

The wind-- it's blowing off your...

BOTH: Roof!

What are we going to do, Duck?

Now we're going to get all wet.

Don't worry, Monkey, we can fix it.

We still have the "R" for the "ruh" sound

and the "F" for the "fuh" sound.

But where are the two letter "O's" for the "oo" sound?

[gasps]

They're blowing away!

We can't make a r-r-roof without the "oo" sound.

Oh, don't worry, Monkey.

I'll get that "oo" so we can fix your roof.

NARRATOR: Duck did his best to catch the "oo."

Hey, who turned out the lights?

NARRATOR: But with the wind blowing so hard,

he couldn't even fly.

DUCK: Oh!

Phew.

Wh-Whoa, whoa, whoa!

NARRATOR: Meanwhile, Kangaroo was loading up her train with letters.

♪ Doodly-dee-doo-dee-doo.

There, that ought to do it.

[wind whistling]

Didgeridoo, it sure is windy all of a sudden.

DUCK: Oh! Incoming!Huh?

Kangaroo!

Duck?

Oh! Oh! Oh!

Gotcha.

Well, good day, Duck.

Kangaroo, did you see an "oo" fly this way?

An "oo"?

Do you mean two letter "O"s?

Yes. I need two letter "O"s

to make the "oo" sound to fix Monkey's roof before it rains.

Quack, quack.

No worries, Duck.

I can get you an "oo" for Monkey's roof.

Hmm, let me see here.

Aha.

Here you go, Duck.

NARRATOR: So, with Kangaroo's help, Duck was on his way

to bring Monkey the "oo," so they could fix his roof.

This is so cool.

[rumbling]

Uh... quack, quack.

What happened?

Don't know. Let me have a look see.

What is it?

It seems the drive rod has come unhooked from the fix bolt

on the power wheel.

The who-sy has done what-sy on the where-sy?

It's broken.

Oh, now we'll never get

Monkey's roof fixed before it rains.

Quack, quack.

No worries, Duck. We can fix it.

We just need a tool.

And there's an "oo" in the word "tool." Catch!

Coo-oo-ool!

Okay, first, a letter "T" for the "tuh" sound.

Then two letter "O"s for the "oo" sound.

And then, a letter "L" for the "uhl" sound.

Yeah. Special boots that will make you go really fast.
