they eat underwater
plants and things.

ELINOR: Fish do lots of
things underwater...

eat, swim, play...
even sleep.

They're sooo
interesting!

RANGER RABBIT:

ELINOR: Mom! Did you
know that a group of fish

is called a school?

Just like a group of
friends at my school.

BOTH: [laugh]

RANGER RABBIT: Oof. We
should get going Elinor,

it's almost time for school.

MR. RABBIT: Here ya go.

I think Elinor is on a bit
of a fish-kick.

RANGER RABBIT:

I saw a fish today
that I've never seen before.

OLIVE: Really?

ELINOR: Yup. I
named her Spotty!

Come on, I'll draw a picture to
show you what she looks like.

ARI: Now that is
a cool fish.

ELINOR: Yep!

She has really great spots,
that's why I named her Spotty.

And she swims in a really
interesting way...

she kind of wiggles,

KIDS: [giggle]

OLIVE: You've drawn a lot
of fish before, Elinor,

but this one
is really special.

ELINOR: Yep! She's my
special friend Spotty.

ELINOR: Hi Spotty!

ELINOR: Sorry I haven't
visited in a few days.

splashy I see.

Spotty you have two
bumps on you.

What are they?

[giggle] Well, they don't
seem to keep you...

from being splashy!

ELINOR: Hey Spotty!

Sorry I didn't visit
for a while,

but look what I made!

I'm a fish too,

ELINOR: Oh my
goodness!

have legs?

Where did they come from?

Hmmm, maybe from the
bumps I saw before?

I thought fish
didn't have legs?

I made it so I could look
like a fish, like Spotty.

But when I went to show her,
guess what I saw?

OLIVE: What?

ELINOR: It looks like...

Spotty has legs.

OLIVE: Legs?
Really?

I didn't think
fish had legs.

ELINOR: Me neither.

But Spotty does.

I think they started
out as little bumps...

but I guess they grew.

ARI: Whoa!

A fish with legs!

Now, I gotta see that.

OLIVE: Me too.

ELINOR: Okay!

I'll take you to meet
Spotty, right after school.

You're gonna
be so amazed.

ELINOR: Spotty's
just over here.

ELINOR: There she is.

OLIVE: Wow,
you're right Elinor.

Spotty does
have legs.

ARI: How can
that even be?

ELINOR: We need
more observations.

OLIVE: She doesn't quite
look like other fish.

ARI: What do
you mean?

OLIVE: She has
eyes like a fish,

and a mouth and a tail.

But she doesn't have fins on
her sides like fish usually do.

ELINOR: You're right, Olive.

I never noticed
that before.

ARI: Olive, Elinor,
come and look at this!

ARI: I found a whole
bunch of Spotties.

ELINOR: But...

they don't all
look the same.

OLIVE: I'll draw them
in my notebook.

ELINOR: That little one
looks like Spotty used to,

with no legs at all.

ARI: And that bigger one
looks like Spotty does now...

with legs.

ELINOR: Whoa, this one
has legs in front too!

ELINOR: Wait a minute!

This one with front
legs and back legs

doesn't look like a
fish to me at all.

OLIVE: No? What
does it look like?

ELINOR: Kind of like...

ARI: [gasp]
A frog! Over there!

OLIVE: Ooh!
I'll draw it too.

ELINOR: [gasp] That
is so interesting!

It looks like the
Spotties grow back legs,

and then they grow front
legs, and then they turn into...

frogs?

ARI: Does that mean...

Spotty's not a fish?

MR. RABBIT:
Hey, kids.

I was just coming back
from Farmer Bear's Farm

when I saw you
observing something.

What have you noticed?

ELINOR: It's Spotty, Dad!

ELINOR: She has...

legs!

MR. RABBIT: Legs?

But I thought Spotty
was a fish?

ELINOR: I thought
so too, but look!

We saw other animals like
Spotty over here too.

Some have two legs,
and some have four legs.

OLIVE: And some look
almost like frogs,

except they have tails.

ARI: And some are frogs!

MR. RABBIT: Ah, I see.

ELINOR: So we're thinking Spotty
might not be a fish after all.

MR. RABBIT: So, then,
what do you think she is?

ELINOR: Well, if she's gonna
look like a frog...

when she grows up,
maybe she is a frog?

MR. RABBIT: [chuckle]
You're right, Elinor!

Spotty is not a fish, and
she's not a frog just yet,

but she will be.

Right now she's a tadpole,
changing into a frog.

ARI: Whoah, my
brain just exploded.

[mimics expl*si*n]

ALL: [laugh]

ELINOR: But what's
a tadpole, Dad?

MR. RABBIT: Maybe I'd better
start at the beginning.

Frogs start
out as eggs.

ARI: But I thought
only birds lay eggs.

MR. RABBIT: Frogs do too,
and so do some other animals,

like turtles and lizards.

Then, when the frog eggs hatch,
little baby frogs come out,

called tadpoles.

OLIVE: Tadpoles.

I like that word.

ELINOR: But Dad, they
look just like little fish.

MR. RABBIT: They do.

But then the tadpoles grow
back legs and front legs,

and then they're
called froglets.

OLIVE: Froglets.
I like that word too!

MR. RABBIT: [chuckle] Then
the froglets tail shrinks,

which doesn't hurt them at all,
and then they change into...

ELINOR: Frogs!

MR. RABBIT: Ta-dah!

[frog croaks]

ELINOR: That means...
Spotty is not a fish.

She's a baby frog growing and
changing into a grown-up frog.

MR. RABBIT: You got it,
Elinor!

ELINOR: That's
so interesting!

[♪♪♪]

ELINOR: ♪ Every
little frog. ♪

♪ Starts with an egg.

♪ And when it hatches.

♪ It has no legs.

ARI: ♪ A tadpole's
not much more. ♪

♪ Than a tail and
a head, ♪

OLIVE: ♪ But it will
grow and change. ♪

♪ And become a
frog instead. ♪

ALL: ♪ Grow
and change. ♪

♪ Grow and change.

♪ Baby frogs they
grow and change. ♪

ELINOR: ♪ A tadpole
swims around. ♪

♪ Happy in its pond.

♪ But soon they
grow back legs. ♪

♪ So they can
jump on. ♪

OLIVE: ♪ When the
front legs come. ♪

♪ A froglet is a frog.

ARI: ♪ And climbs
out of the water. ♪

♪ To sit happy
on a log. ♪

ALL: ♪ Grow and
change. ♪

♪ Baby frogs.

♪ They grow and

ELINOR: ♪ My friend
Spotty. ♪

♪ Will grow
and change. ♪

ELINOR: Frog, frog,

This is a frog egg,
then a tadpole comes out,

then it grows back
legs, then front legs...

And then it changes into...

a frog!

MR. RABBIT: Very nice,
Elinor.

ELINOR: Thanks.

I thought I had a
fish friend...

but it turns out
Spotty is a frog.

And that's okay because
frogs are awesome.

ELINOR: See!

Now I can look just like
Spotty when she grows up.

Ribbit Ribbit Ribbit!

MR. RABBIT: [chuckles]
RANGER RABBIT: [chuckles]

ELINOR: Did you know frogs can
live on land and in the water,

and that they really
do sit on lilypads.

They're so
interesting!

MR. RABBIT: I think Elinor is
on a bit of a frog-kick.

BOTH: [laugh]

ELINOR: Ribbit! Ribbit! Ribbit!

[frog croaking]

ELINOR: [gasp]
I hear a frog!

[frog croaks]

ELINOR: I hear another frog!

I wonder how many different
kinds of frogs there are.

SENOR TAPIR: Well, let's sing a
song about a scientist named

Juan Guayasamin, who
wondered the same thing!

He followed his curiosity into
the forests of Ecuador

to look for new
kinds of frogs.

[♪♪♪]

♪ And wondered if
he could find, ♪

♪ Frogs that nobody's
seen before. ♪

MR. LION: And that,
is the joy of dancing!

KIDS: [cheer]

ELINOR: Wow, Mr. Lion,
that was amazing.

ARI: Yeah, we could tell you
were really sad at first...

OLIVE: But then you
found a flower.

TWINS: And that made
you really happy.

MR. LION: That's right!

You see, kids, dancing
isn't just a great way...

to move our bodies and
get healthy exercise.

It's also a way
to communicate!

To show your ideas and
tell others how you feel.

KIDS: [gasps]
[giggle]

MR. LION: It's also...
[chuckle] a lot of fun!

Haha!

MR. LION: And now,
it's your turn.

For class today, I want
you to work with others

to come up with
your own dance...

that communicates something
you all think is special.

ARI: Ooooh.
ELINOR: Hmmm...

MR. LION: And at the end,
we'll have a little show...

where everyone can
share their dance.

How does that sound?

KIDS: Awesome!
Yes!

ELINOR: Mr. Lion, I'm not sure
what to make a dance about?

MR. LION: Don't worry, Elinor,
I'm sure you'll come up...

with something great.

When you find something that
you want to dance about,

you'll feel it.

And then you'll want to share
it with the whole world!

Okay, Mr. Lion.

OLIVE: Okay, what should
our dance be about?

ARI: Ooh, I know!

We should do a cha-cha dance
about my favorite snack:

peanut butter
and pickles!

can dance ballet like that.

at all these birds.

OLIVE: I don't think I've ever
seen this kind of bird before.

ARI: Their legs
are so long.

And look at the cool red
feathers on their heads.

ELINOR: There's the
little chick bird.

[birds singing]

ARI: [gasp] What are
the birds doing?

ELINOR: Wow! Look
how they're moving.

OLIVE: It looks like
they're dancing?

ELINOR: It does look
like they're dancing.

That is so
interesting.

ARI: I didn't know
birds could dance!

KIDS: Ohhhhh!
Wow!

ELINOR: [gasp]
Hmmm...

I wonder...

why are these
birds dancing?

OLIVE: Maybe they're in
a dance class, too.

ELINOR: Hmm, I don't think
birds have classes.

ARI: Oh, I know!

Maybe they're trying to
do the cha-cha dance!

[cha-cha theme playing]

OLIVE: I love it but
I'm not sure birds...

know what the
cha-cha is, Ari.

ARI: Yeah, maybe
it's not a bird thing.

ELINOR: Let's take
a closer look...

and see if we can figure
out why they're dancing.

We need more
observations.

OLIVE: [gasp] Look,
that bird is dancing...

in front of that
other bird.

ELINOR: It flapped and jumped,
and now it's running around

the other one.

ARI: And now it looks like
they're dancing together?

OLIVE: Aww... I think
they like each other.

ELINOR: Look,
over there!

OLIVE: Uh-oh, that doesn't
look like a very happy dance.

ARI: Yeah, all the other
birds are walking away.

ELINOR: Hmmm...

Happy.

[♪♪♪]

ELINOR: That's it!
I think I figured it out.

OLIVE: What is it, Elinor?

ELINOR: Maybe these birds
are dancing to communicate,

like Mr. Lion said!

ARI: Do you mean they're
dancing to talk to each other?

OLIVE: Uh-huh.

I think you're
right, Elinor.

That bird danced to tell the
other bird that it likes it.

ARI: Ohhhh, and that
bird danced...

to tell the other
birds to stay away.

ELINOR: Yes! You can use dance
to communicate how you feel.

Even birds do it!

They also use dance to
talk to each other.

OLIVE: We figured
it out!

KIDS: Yay! Awesome
[cheer]

MR. LION: Ah, there
you are, kids.

What are you
looking at?

ELINOR: Mr. Lion, we found
these birds that dance!

OLIVE: Yes, and we think they
dance to communicate,

just like you said.

MR. LION: Ah yes, these
are Sandhill Cranes.

They're one of many birds
that like to dance.

Isn't it amazing?

MR. LION: And you're
right, scientists think

these birds dance
to communicate.

They dance to tell each
other when they're mad,

and when they like
each other.

ELINOR: There's the little
crane chick we saw before.

It looks like it's
trying to dance, too.

[chick bird chirps]

MR. LION: Yes!

Some scientists think
that sandhill cranes

sometimes also just
dance for fun,

to communicate how
happy they are.

[chick bird chirping]

OLIVE: Go little
chick bird!

ARI: Yeah!

[chick bird chirping]

ELINOR: I think it's so
special that these birds dance.

OLIVE: Yeah...

ELINOR: [gasp]
Ari! Olive!

That gives me an idea for what
our dance should be about.

OLIVE: I think we know
what you mean, Elinor.

ELINOR: C'mon!

MR. LION: Ah, inspiration!

I love it!

was wonderful!

I could tell that you were
trying to communicate...

how happy you are, and how much
you like being out in the sun.

ELINOR: Ahem.

Like Mr. Lion said, dancing is
a way to communicate.

OLIVE: Yeah, it's a way to share
how you feel and show others

something you think or something
that you've learned.

ARI: So, our dance is about
something that we learned today.

It's called...
