[School bell ringing]

- The night was like any other night.

Quiet. Maybe too quiet.

- Ah, linny?

Who are you talking to?

[Knock at door]

- Just then there was a knock at the door.

All: ♪ that's never happened before ♪

- ♪ The door

♪ There's someone knocking

[Knock at door]

- ♪ The door

♪ We'll be right there

- ♪ The door

♪ Who could be knocking?

[Knock at door]

- ♪ There's an animal in trouble ♪

- ♪ There's an animal in twouble ♪

- ♪ There's an animal in trouble right here ♪

[Grunts]

- [Clears throat]

Who is it?

- It's an animal, and I'm in trouble.

- You've come to the right place.

♪ It's a vixen

- ♪ I've got a problem that needs fixin' ♪

- What's a vixen?

- ♪ A female fox

- How can we help you, vixen?

- I have this collar, see?

- ♪ It sure is sparkly

- But when I went to put it on,

It was gone!

- Gone?

Both: ♪ gone

- ♪ A vixen who lost her collar ♪

- ♪ This is se-wious

- ♪ We have to help you

- ♪ Let's help the vixen

All: ♪ let's help the vixen

♪ Let's help the vixen

Whee!

- Of all the classrooms in all the world,

She had to walk into mine.

All: we're from a movie!

[Laughter]

- ♪ Linny

- ♪ Tuck

- ♪ And ming-ming too

All: ♪ we're wonder pets and we'll help you ♪

- [Whistles]

Hold on, wonder pets.

Try these on for size.

- Ooh.

- We look snazzy.

- Let's build a flyboat.

♪ What's gonna work?

Both: ♪ teamwork

- ♪ What's gonna work?

Both: ♪ teamwork

Ooh.

- Cool.

- I like your style, wonder pets.

- Hop in the--

♪ Where's ming-ming?

- ♪ She was here a second ago

- Looks like your chicken friend has flown the coop.

- Actually she's a duckling.

- My mistake.

- Linny, how will we find ming-ming?

- ♪ When something's missing

♪ Just look for a clue

- ♪ Look for a clue

- Aha!

Ming-ming's feather.

♪ Clue number one

- She must have gone thataway.

- Birdseed.

Is that a clue?

- Sure is, tuck.

♪ Clue number two

- Maybe your duck friend got a hankering for a snack.

- Chomp! Chomp!

- Do you hear that?

- ♪ It's a crunching

- Like someone's munching.

- ♪ Clue number three

- Sounds like it's coming from behind that toy box.

- Just as I suspected.

- Oh, hi, linny.

Birdseed, anyone?

- Ming-ming, we have to help the vixen, remember?

- Oh, right. That.

Well, what are we waiting for?

Hop in the flyboat, wonder pets.

- Aren't you coming, vixen?

- I brought my own ride.

I'll meet you outside.

- I think she just winked at me.

- Follow that vixen!

- And step on it.

[Together] whee!

- ♪ Wonder pets, wonder pets ♪

♪ We're on our way

♪ To help a little vixen and save the day ♪

- ♪ We're not too big

- ♪ And we're not too tough

- ♪ But when we work together we've got the right stuff ♪

Gooooo, wonder pets!

Yay!

- There's the vixen's car.

- Good eye, tuck.

[Together] whee! Whoa!

- Come on in, wonder pets.

- Wow.

You sure have a nice place here, ms. Vixen.

- Oh, wonder pets.

You just got to find my collar right away.

I need to wear it to a big soiree.

[Together] huh?

- It's a fancy party.

[Together] oh.

- Now, ms. Vixen, where was the last place

You saw this diamond collar?

- In my jewelry box.

Walk this way.

- Ah-ha!

The collar is

Not in the jewelry box.

- Linny, ♪ what will we do?

- I know how to find the vixen's collar.

♪ When something's missing

♪ Just look for a clue

Both: ♪ look for a clue

- Yeah, just like we looked for clues

To find ming-ming in the classroom.

- We'll leave no sofa cushion unturned.

- ♪ Yoo-hoo

♪ I see a clue

- ♪ We've only just begun

♪ And we've already found

Clue number one.

- A diamond!

- Linny, is it from the vixen's collar?

- ♪ It's a match

- Whoever took the collar

Must have gone thataway.

- ♪ Let's look for more clues

- ♪ Don't mind if I do

♪ This search is a breeze

♪ I found clue number two

♪ A piece of cheese

- Is this your cheese, ma'am?

- I never touch the stuff.

- Mysterious.

- Whoever took the collar

Must like cheese!

- Your powers of deduction are astounding.

- Thanks.

Whatever that means.

- Oh, hurry, wonder pets.

It's almost time for the party.

- Squeak! Squeak!

- ♪ Do you hear that?

- ♪ It's a squeaking

- Squeak! Squeak!

- ♪ Are you a-squeaking?

- ♪ Not me

All: ♪ the squeaking must be

♪ Clue number three

- It's all starting to add up now.

- I'm not following you.

- ♪ We have a diamond

- ♪ Cheese

- ♪ And a squeak

- What animal likes cheese and squeaks?

- I give up.

Both: ♪ a mouse

- Oh, right.

- And if we find that mouse...

- We'll find your collar too.

- Nice detective work, wonder pets,

But your time's run out.

The party started.

- ♪ This is se-wious

- It's now or never.

Can you help me?

- Okay, team.

Let's spread out and find that mouse.

Ming-ming, you look by the couch.

- Got it.

- Tuck, you look near the jewelry box,

And I'll look near those curtains.

- Squeak! Squeak!

- ♪ Linny

- ♪ Tuck

- ♪ And ming-ming too

- ♪ We're wonder pets and we'll help you ♪

- ♪ What's gonna work? - Squeak!

- ♪ Teamwork - squeak!

- ♪ What's gonna work? - Squeak!

- ♪ Teamwork - squeak!

- I found our mysterious squeak.

It's coming from

This hole.

- Hello?

Is there a mouse in there who's fond of diamonds?

- Yes. That would be me.

- The mouse!

- My collar!

- Nice work, wonder pets.

We solved the diamond-studded collar caper.

- But why'd you do it, little mouse?

Why'd you take the vixen's collar?

- I'm sorry.

I didn't know it belonged to the vixen.

It was so...so...

Sparkly.

Here you are.

- Wait.

Don't take it off.

- ♪ But it belongs to you

♪ It's not mine

- Honey, on you it looks divine.

To take it away would be a crime.

- But I thought you wanted to wear it to your party.

- I did, but it looks better on you, kid.

- [Laughs]

Thank you.

- What do you say?

You want to get out of this hole in the wall

And go to a fancy party?

- Yes.

- You are one classy dame.

- This calls for some celery.

- Would you like some cheese with your celery?

- Cheese, please.

- Well, wonder pets,

It looks like your work here is done.

To the convertible?

- To the convertible.

Bye, wonder pets.

- Come see me again sometime.

- That little vixen drove off

To her fancy soiree.

That's a party.

She left us here, holding the celery,

But that's just life when you're a wonder pet.

- Can we eat the celery now, linny?

- Oh, sorry.

Yeah.

[Horn honks]

[School bell ringing]

- Time to go home, everyone.

- Bye bye, linny.

- See you, tuck.

- See you tomorrow, ming-ming.

[Door closes]

[Jingling]

[Lively music]

- ♪ The phone

♪ The phone is ringing

[Piano keys play]

- ♪ The phone

♪ It's ringing still

- ♪ The phone

♪ The phone is ringing

- ♪ There's an old dog performing ♪

- ♪ An old dog performing?

- ♪ There's an old dog performing vaudeville ♪

Both: huh?

- Hello?

[Unintelligible response]

- We've got three tickets?

That sounds great.

- Three tickets for what, linny?

- ♪ For a vaudeville show

- ♪ Well, what do you know?

Both: ♪ but what's a vaudeville show? ♪

- A vaudeville show is a show with lots of different acts.

There are singers and stunts and tricks.

Both: wow.

- And today's performer is the old dog.

Both: ♪ who's the old dog?

- ♪ Behold

- ♪ He looks really great

- ♪ And weally old

- He's one of the most famous vaudeville stars ever.

- ♪ A famous dog

♪ Who puts on a show

- ♪ This is fabulous

- ♪ We have to see him

- ♪ Let's see the old dog

Both: ♪ let's see the old dog

[Together] ♪ let's see the old dog

Whee!

- And now, the amazing wonder pets.

Dum da-da dum!

- Dum da-da dum!

- Chomp!

Yum!

[Laughter]

- ♪ Linny

- ♪ Tuck

- ♪ And ming-ming too

- ♪ We're off to see what the dog can do ♪

- We don't have enough pieces to build the flyboat.

- How will we fly without the flyboat?

- ♪ If we put our minds to it, yes, siree ♪

♪ We'll find a new way to do it ♪

♪ Wait and see

Both: ♪ a new way to do it?

- Sure.

♪ And it'll be even better than it was before ♪

- Could we use this propeller?

- And this beanie cap?

- Yeah!

Let's put them together to make a new way to fly.

♪ What's gonna work?

Both: ♪ teamwork

- ♪ What's gonna work?

Both: ♪ teamwork

Ooh.

- Beanie.

- Hop in the beanie boat, wonder pets.

We've got an old dog to see.

- Vaudeville, here we come.

- ♪ Wonder pets, wonder pets ♪

♪ Off we go

♪ To see a really fabulous vaudeville show ♪

- ♪ We like a good film

- ♪ And we love a good play

- ♪ But we're off to see an old dog today ♪

Go, wonder pets!

Yay!

[Horns honk]

- There's the theater, wonder pets.

- ♪ We're flying into the theater ♪

- ♪ Does it get any sweeter?

- ♪ We'll get such a thrill

- ♪ You know that we will

All: ♪ watching some vaudeville

- The show's starting.

- And now performing his world-famous routine

That has dazzled audiences for years and years and years,

The old dog!

- Whoo-hoo!

- And now the old dog will sit.

[Fanfare]

Beg.

[Fanfare]

And for his big finish,

Speak!

- [Clears throat]

Arf.

[Fanfare]

- I think this is the part

Where we're supposed to applaud.

- How come nobody else is clapping, linny?

- Those are the same old tricks he's been doing for years.

- We've seen those times.

- That's not very nice.

- Oh, he's right, turtle.

I haven't done a new trick in years.

I'm all washed up.

- The old dog's leaving.

- I think his feelings got hurt.

- Let's go talk to him, wonder pets.

- ♪ Hey, mister, are you all right? ♪

- I'll tell you, ducky,

I got no business in show business.

♪ I'm throwing in the towel

- That means he's going to quit.

- There.

- But you can't give up on show business, old dog.

- Yeah. There's no business like it.

- And that's a perfectly good towel.

- Listen, you kids.

♪ When I used to do my tricks

♪ Everybody cheered and roared

♪ Now when I do 'em

♪ They flop

♪ The audience is bored

- We weren't bored,

Were we, wonder pets?

- Absolutely not.

- Maybe a little.

Oof! But not much.

- Yeah.

Why don't you go out there and give it another try?

- You really think I should?

[Together] uh-huh.

- Okay.

I'll give it one more try.

[Together] hurray!

- And now, the old dog will perform

The same old tricks!

He will sit.

[Fanfare]

Beg.

[Fanfare]

And speak.

- [Clears throat]

Arf.

[Fanfare]

- Survey says...

All: boo!

- That's it.

- What's wrong, old dog?

- ♪ I'm leaving show business

♪ I can't take anymore

♪ They used to gasp with delight ♪

♪ Now they only snore

♪ I'm a has-been, a used-to-be ♪

♪ No more tricks for me ♪

- You mean you're really quitting?

- That's right, wonder pets.

I just ain't got it no more.

I am through.

- You mean you're not going to do your tricks anymore?

- That's exactly what I mean.

- ♪ This is se-wious

But that's show biz.

- Thanks for trying, kids, but I'm outta here.

♪ I can't do no more, you see ♪

♪ Just fly on home

♪ And forget about me

- Hey, remember when we couldn't make our flyboat

In the classroom?

- We had to find a new way to fly.

- Maybe we can find a new way for the old dog

To thrill the audience.

- A new way? No way.

All: ♪ if we put our minds to it, ♪

♪ Yes, siree

♪ We'll find a new way to do it ♪

♪ Wait and see

- A new way to do it?

All: sure.

♪ And it will be even better than it was before ♪

- And I just thought

Of an amazing new twick you could do.

- You can't teach an old dog like me a new trick.

- Sure, we can.

Linny, you decorate the stage.

Tuck, you turn on more lights.

- Ooh.

- And I will teach the old dog a new trick.

- A new trick? Really?

- Yes, siree.

- ♪ Linny

- ♪ Tuck

- ♪ And ming-ming too

- ♪ They'll help me make my act brand-new ♪

♪ What's gonna work?

Both: ♪ teamwork

- ♪ What's gonna work?

- And now the old dog will perform a trick

Never seen on a vaudeville stage.

He will...

Sit!

[Fanfare]

- Ming-ming,

Those are the same tricks as before.

- Wait for it.

- Beg.

[Fanfare]

- Ming-ming, these tricks aren't new.

- [Yawns]

- Patience.

- Speak.

[Clears throat]

Arf.

[Fanfare]

- He did that before.

- Here it comes.

- And...

Fly!

Both: fly?

- Mm-hmm.

- I've never seen him do that trick before.

- ♪ Oh me and oh my

♪ A dog who can fly

♪ Watch me zip around high off the ground ♪

♪ I'll dazzle all the crowds

♪ When I soar through the clouds ♪

♪ I'm going to bow wow wow ya

♪ And you'll see the proof

♪ When I fly up high

♪ To the roof

Roof! Roof!

[Pants]

♪ This hound don't lie around

♪ Like a log

♪ 'Cause I'm a flying dog!

Oof! Hoo-choo-choo.

- That there's the best trick I ever saw.

- I'd like to thank my pals

Who showed me you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Linny, ming-ming, tuck, come on up here.

- We were just celebrating with some celery.

- That never gets old.

- But here's something new.

[Lively music]



[Single applaud]

- Tough crowd.

- It ain't as easy as it looks.
