ROY: Well, it's hard to
believe she's actually finished.

Yeah. You know, there was a lot of
people who thought we were crazy,

but I think we showed them.

Yeah. Couple more
things to check out on her.

Well, no, not really,
'cause I came in yesterday on my day off

and I think I finished them up.

Good. Is that how you got
that cut on your forehead?

Well...

This is a small price to pay.

I'll flip you for it.

Yeah.

Heads.

[JOHNNY CHUCKLING]

Shoes clean?

Yeah.

Okay.

You using the choke?

I know what I'm doing.
You just keep cranking.

One more time. One more time.

[ENGINE RUNNING]

[ENGINE MISFIRING]

Isn't it running kind of rough?

No, sounds fine.

It's purring like a kitten.

[ALARM SOUNDING]

DISPATCHER: Squad 51,
possible heart att*ck.

4738 West Central.

4-7-3-8 West Central.

Cross street Market.
Time out, 1512.

MAN: Squad 51, KMG 365.

He's still in the back there.

JOHNNY: What's the trouble?

He wouldn't listen to me.

He said he didn't need
any help or nothing.

He's been sitting in the car
for the past three, four minutes.

Well, what's wrong with him?

He come in and he
ordered the pizza.

The next thing I know,
he's leaning against the bar

and he has this bluish
look around his lips.

Well, I help him into a car,
into a chair...

Did he say what was
wrong with him at all?

No, he says he has a little pain
in his chest and in his right arm.

Sir?

Sir,
you're not feeling well? Sir?

Oh, I'll be all right.

Why don't you let us take
a look at you here, all right?

No, no, no. Just take a minute.

Sir, listen to me. Now,
you may be having a heart att*ck.

It's just something I ate.

Why don't you let
these fellas help you?

I'm fine. See, I'm okay.

Look, do you have
a family doctor?

Yeah, yeah.

Okay, well, maybe we could call him
and have him come down here, huh?

If it hangs on, I'll...

I'll go see him, okay?

Sir, listen to me now.
Listen to me.

I don't think that
you should be driving.

Now,
why don't you let one of us take you there?

Will you go away?
Leave me alone!

Jesus!

I'll go make us available.

But with that bluish
look around his lips.

He's sick. There's nothing we can do,
ma'am.

He refused treatment
and he's still conscious.

There's absolutely
nothing we can do.

Oh, oh, well.

I'm so sorry I bothered you.

Oh, no,
it's no bother at all. Thank you very much.

You did the right thing.

Oh, thank you very much.

[SPEAKING ITALIAN]

All right.

LA, Squad 51 available.

DISPATCHER ON RADIO: Squad 51.

What do you think?

Nothing we can do.

ROY: Looks to be going our
way. Might as well follow him.

Well.

[sums]

Looks like he's gonna be okay.

[TIRES SCREECHING]

JOHNNY: Watch it! Watch it!
Watch it! Watch it!

He's gonna hit him.

LA, this is Squad 51.

We have a traffic accident
at 4250 West Central.

Heart att*ck victim is involved.

Please send another engine
company and an ambulance.

[SIRENS WAILING]

KELLY ON RADIO: Squad 51,

Vitals to follow.

Pulse is 160. The victim
is in extreme pain, Rampart.

[INTERCOM BEEPING]

This patient is in V-fib.

Rampart, we have lost the
victim's pulse. Beginning CPR.

[RAPID BEEPING]

We're defibrillating victim,
Rampart.

Rampart, we've defibrillated
victim. Decent sinus rhythm.

JOE ON RADIO: Administer 2 amps
sodium bicarb and insert an airway.

KELLY ON RADIO: Start an IV,

DIXIE: Squad 51, continue monitoring
Vitals and transport immediately.

JOHNNY ON RADIO:
We're on our way, Rampart.

He's gone.
He's got a broken neck.

Yeah. I'm gonna need the drug
box. She's got a cut on her head.

All right.

I got a gas leak over there.

All right.

[GIRL SOBBING]

Well, you okay, sweetheart?

Huh?

Are you sure you're not hurt?

No, where's my mommy?

Your mommy's gonna be all
right. What happened here, huh?

Okay.

All right, come on, now.

I'm gonna get you out of here and
then we'll get your mommy, all right?

GIRL: Okay.

[SIREN WAILING]

STANLEY: Go on and
wash down the gas there.

JOHNNY: See?

JOHNNY: Captain,
she's not hurt too bad

but can you take
a look after her?

You bet ya. Come on. All right.

Hey, have you ever seen a
fire engine up close, before?

Come on.

Nothing broken down there.

No. Nothing?

Did you check her neck? Not yet,
no.

Okay.

[GROANING]

Got something there.

That's it, check on her spine.

Sharon?

She's gonna be all right.

Is she all right?

Sharon's gonna be all right.

You just try to relax.

What was her pulse?

Eighty.

Eighty? Yeah.

Well, it has to be some place up
around her neck or the shoulders.

Yeah, there's nothing down here.

I'll get on the horn. All right.

Okay, you just relax.

Rampart, this is Squad 51.
How do you read me?

Read you loud and clear.

Rampart, we have a female,
approximately 25 years old.

She's been involved
in a traffic accident.

She has a possible
spinal injury.

It'll be a couple more minutes
before we'll be able to get her out.

I'll get the back board.

All right.

Dr. Early, please.

The other car? The man...

You just don't worry
about him right now.

I wasn't looking
and talking to Sharon...

I know. You just relax.
Everything's gonna be all right, okay?

Sharon's fine.

Okay, you gonna take that?

Yeah.

All right,
now. I'm gonna have to move you up, okay?

All right, go ahead
and move her up.

ROY: Get her hair out.

[GROANS]

Okay, okay, now wait a minute.
Hang on for just a second.

Just a second.

Ready?

JOHNNY: All right, lay her back.

Okay.

Good deal.

I just looked away for a minute.

Come on, don't worry about it.

Okay, go ahead. Stop worrying.

We're gonna splint you up here
and take you out on the back board.

Might be a little painful.
JOHNNY: Stop.

Let a little...

You'll have to let a little
air out. That's too much.

Tell me when it's all right.

Okay. Okay,
that's good. Right there.

Yeah, it's enough.

Okay.

Okay.

Now, let's get the back board.

All right. We're gonna
have to lift you up again.

We're gonna put the
back board back there.

All right? Okay.

Be a little painful.

It'll be all right
once we get you on.

[GROANS]

All right, all right. Okay.

There we are.

Is she down full on it?
ROY: Yeah.

JOHNNY: Okay.

The other man, is he hurt?

Now, I want you to
just take it easy.

All right?
You just take it easy.

JOHNNY: Now, is there anyplace
where we can call your husband

to come and pick up Sharon?

Do you have a phone number
on you that we can call?

On the visor.

On the visor? This card here?

Yeah.

Hey, Cap-

Okay, wanna wrap
some of this around her?

STANLEY: Yeah?

Cap,
this is her husband's phone number there.

He can come and pick up Sharon.

Yeah, thanks. Okay.

Just relax.

Okay.

Let's get her head straight
up on the board here.

Can we? Okay.

All right.

Okay.

All right. We pretty
much got this.

All right.

ROY: We ready to move her?

Yeah. Chet.

Johnny, you need
any tape back there?

I'm gonna tie it, Roy.
All right.

JOHNNY: Can you give us a hand?

Okay, now, we're just gonna
slide her just straight out like that.

Yeah,
I got the bottom towards that end. Okay.

All right.

JOHNNY: You gotta watch her
head because it may slide down.

Is she starting to slide?

Okay, good.

All right. Now, there she goes.
She's beginning to slide now.

Okay, ready?

Okay.

ROY: Okay. I got it
from down here.

She's slipping.

All right,
that's good. All right.

Easy.

I'll get this.

Get your fingers out. Ready?

Okay, Chet, thanks.

Rampart, this is Squad 51.

JOE: Go ahead, 51.

Rampart,
the ambulance has not arrived yet,

and we've got her
out of the car.

Okay, bring her as soon as
the ambulance gets there.

Be certain to keep her
head and neck immobilized.

10-4, Rampart.

The driver, where is he?

Now, look, please, please.

Please, I wanna talk to him.

I want you to calm down,
all right? Now, please calm down.

We're gonna get you
to the hospital.

He's dead, isn't he?

Yeah.

I k*lled him.

ROY: No, you didn't k*ll him.

I didn't mean to.
I didn't mean to.

You didn't k*ll him.

He had a bad heart, and he probably
blacked out before you ever collided.

But I k*lled him.

Look, he's right.

It wasn't your fault.

He's dead. JOHNNY: Please.

Now, look, I want you
to believe me.

It was not your fault.

Okay.

Did you tell them? Told them.

We fixed up the old engine.

Told them that, too.

Two hundred hours work.

Yeah. Yeah,
plus that bump on the head.

Yeah, I heard about that.

It was a small price to pay.

I mean, after all,
we did finish before the CSFA parade.

Hi. Hi, Doc.

She still upset?

I'm afraid so.

I tried to explain to her in the
ambulance that he'd refused treatment.

He'd probably still be alive.

She just had a bad whiplash.

Could've been
a heck of a lot worse.

Hey, if you guys aren't doing
anything Saturday afternoon,

how about coming down and
watching Roy and I in the parade?

They entered the old engine.

No kidding.

We have it in
the antique car division.

I thought you had
to work Saturday.

Well, we're gonna try to
switch with some other guys.

That sounds interesting.

There's his medical plan card.

George M. Carmody?

That's right.

And what seems
to be his trouble?

He says this headache
came on just like that.

Aspirin didn't do any good so I
thought I'd bring him over here.

He can't work. I mean,
it must be brutal.

We'll have a doctor
look at him right away.

Thank you.

Yes, Dr. Early, please.

Wouldn't it be something
if we really did win a prize?

I think we got a good chance.

Do you really? Huh. Yeah.

I'm sorry
we bothered you, Doctor.

I feel fine now. Are you sure?

Yeah, pain's all gone.

Perhaps I better take a look
at you anyway. No, it's all right.

I know what it was. Nerves.

George! George?

Sally, get a gurney here, stat.

Watch that leg.

All right,
let's get him in 1. Come on, let's go.

Yeah. Joe?

Pressure's 290 over 164.

Diazoxide IV bolus.

With a restrictor band.

Find a good vein here.

What's his blood pressure now?

At least we know
what we're dealing with.

Yeah.

[ENGINE STARTS]

Got it.

[JOHNNY WHOOPING]

All right.

Looking good!
You're looking good!

Get a horse.

Eat your heart out, Chet.
Eat your heart out.

[CHUCKLING]

All right.

Okay, let's see
how reverse works.

[WHOOPING]

[BELL RINGING]

All right.

[BELL RINGING]

[HORN BLARING]

[ENGINE SPUTTERING]

What are you doing to it?

I'm not doing anything to it.

It's just doing it. What's
the matter with this thing?

Cut it off. Cut it off
before it chews itself up.

[ENGINES STOPS]

What did you do to it?

I didn't do anything to it.

All right.

It's just probably
something small.

Don't count on it.

Uh, Cap?

Can you give us a hand?

Told you to get a horse.

Oh, shut up.

Get a horse.

I don't know what you did for me today,
Doc, but I feel pretty good.

Glad to hear it.

Mr. Carmody,
have you been seeing a doctor?

No. Well, you know,
when I'm sick or something.

How long have you known that you
have hypertension, high blood pressure?

Oh, a couple years, I guess.

Yeah, it was when I had the flu,
the doc told me then.

Did he put you
on any kind of medication?

Yeah, I think so.

Yeah, he gave me a prescription.

I remember it made me groggy,
you know, drowsy.

So I skipped it for a couple
days and I felt all right,

so I didn't bother
with it anymore.

You haven't seen a doctor since?

Wasn't any reason.

And you haven't had
your blood pressure taken?

No.

You should have.

Okay.

Mr. Carmody,

do you know what
happened to you today?

I've been waiting for you
to get to that, Doc.

You had a hypertensive crisis.

Your blood pressure
went sky high.

I'm going to have to
admit you to this hospital,

do some special tests,
get you started on medication.

[sums]

Yeah, I guess I'd better.

This sure wasn't any fun.

You're a very lucky man,
Mr. Carmody.

You might have d*ed.

Well, we could always rent a
truck to tow us to the parade.

Well, it was just a thought.

What are we gonna do?

You're getting
grease all over it.

So?

It's all the kids around here have
been talking about for two weeks,

is how we're gonna be
riding this thing in the parade.

The kids? We've been
talking about it for two weeks.

Yeah. Where are we
going to get a gear

for a 50-year-old planetary
transmission inside of two days?

Well, it's the 200 hours work
that gripes me.

I mean, 200 hours work.

Yeah. There's a lot of money
into that, lot of money.

Listen,

we could at least try to get another gear,
can't we?

Okay. Okay. All right.

We will try.
We will get another gear.

JOHNNY: All right, we'll hit
the junk yards first.

We're just not gonna let them...

[ALARM SOUNDING]

DISPATCHER: Squad 51,
man unconscious.

1010 West Fairview,
Apartment 18.

1-0-1-0 West Fairview,
Apartment 18.

Cross street, Taylor.
Time out, 2124.

STANLEY: Squad 51,

[SIREN BLARING]

[MAN GASPING]

[DOORBELL BUZZES]

It's open.

What happened, ma'am?

I don't know.

All at once,
he just started to choke.

Ma'am, that isn't
gonna help, okay?

Can you just stand over there?

Thought that the ice might help revive him,
you know?

All right,
we got a carotid on him.

All right.

Pulse is 110.

Having a little trouble
breathing here.

I'll go ahead with the vitals,
Johnny.

All right.

[GASPING]

ROY: He is having
trouble breathing.

Yeah.

ROY: Respiration is 20,
check the rhonchi.

Okay.

Shouldn't you call a doctor?

Ma'am, that's what
I'm doing right now.

Rampart, this is Squad 51,
how do you read?

JOE: I read you loud and clear,

Johnny, bilateral.
Johnny, you hear me?

Yeah. How old is he?

Uh, 26.

Rampart, we have a male,
approximately 26 years old.

About 185 pounds.
He's unconscious.

He's having difficulty
breathing.

We've found very
distinct bilateral rhonchi.

Pulse is 110, respiration is 20,
stand by for BP.

BP is 125 over 70.

JOHNNY: Rampart,
BP is 125 over 70.

Wait a minute,
he's not breathing.

Rampart,
victim is not breathing.

Request permission to
start esophageal airway.

Go ahead right now.

Is he dead?

No, ma'am, he's not.

Are you all set?

Yeah, wait a minute.

When did he first pass out?

He dozed off a little while ago.

I don't know exactly.

JOHNNY: When did
he start choking?

Oh, about eight
or 10 minutes ago.

I didn't pay attention right away,
but then he started turning blue.

You got it? Yeah.

Is he going to be all right?

ROY: We don't know what the trouble is yet,
ma'am.

Rampart, we've inserted
esophageal airway.

He's under forced
ventilation now.

Have you any idea, 51,
why he lost consciousness?

Negative, Rampart.

Okay, start an IV
with D5W to keep open.

How much did he have to drink?

Oh, we had a scotch,
a glass of wine with dinner.

No, glass and a half,
and then we had the brandy out here.

Nothing more?

I'm pretty sure.

He was cold sober
when he got here.

Oh, he don't live here, huh?

No, he just came for the dinner.

ROY: He feel all right
when he arrived?

Yeah. He complain of anything?

No. No, he was
kind of up, you know?

Does he have a history
of any medical problems?

Has he ever had any heart
trouble? Diabetes? Epilepsy?

He never told me.

We've only been out
a couple of times.

Did you both eat the same food?

Yeah.

How do you feel?

Like I wish he hadn't
passed out.

You know? ROY: Yeah.

Could you get into more detail,

exactly how he passed out?

Well, it was
the strangest thing.

We were sitting here talking and Eric,
that's his name,

yawned a couple times and then
he got this funny look on his face,

and then he said, "Oh, no."

Just like that. "Oh, no."

Then he got up
and walked around a bit,

then he sat back down again,

and then he said, "Hey,
I think I'm gonna pass out on you."

Like he knew what was happening,
you know?

[SIREN BLARING]

I don't know if that's any help.

We'd better get him
to a hospital, quick.

MIKE: I talked to Intensive
Care. They're full up.

We'll have to
handle him down here.

It sounds like we got
some of it cleared out.

Let's see how he does
for the next day or so.

Let's get a toxicology
screen on him.

And have them bring down
an x-ray. I want a chest series.

You know, he's really out.

Yeah.

But why?

It's gonna be okay, honey.

They'll take care of
you in just a minute.

You better call Dorothy.

She'll just come down
here and make a scene.

What seems to be wrong?

I think he broke his wrist.

Well, we'll take care of that.

What's your name,
sweetie? Harold.

Well, Harold, what happened?
Did you have a bad fall?

Yes, ma'am.

You know she's going
to say it's my fault.

She'll say it anyway.

If you put if off,
it'll just make things that much worse.

So you might as well
phone her right now.

Yeah.

JOE: This girl he was with,
are you sure they both

ate and drank
exactly the same things?

Yeah.

How long were they together?

Well, I'd say, what,
a little after 5:00?

Listen, she's right
down here in the lobby

if you wanna talk to
her. Her name is Elsen.

E-L-S-E-N.
You wanna talk to her?

Maybe. She's not
a relative, is she?

No. But they've
been dating some.

Okay, thanks, you guys. Yeah.

Listen, I was thinking,

if we check every junkyard
between here and the station,

I'm sure we can pick up some
kind of a gear of some kind.

Even any old, worn-out one. Just
anything to get us through the parade.

Anything. Yeah.

Okay, well, first...

Next of kin. Mother.

Lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Joe,

I think I got it.

You sure do.
But self administered?

Let me go check it.

LOUISE: Hello, Dorothy.

What happened?

He tripped on the stairs
and fell down the steps.

Oh, that's great.
Simply marvelous.

Well, these things
happen to kids.

Not if you keep an eye on
them and watch over them.

Look, every time he comes
back from you he's got a cold.

Let's keep it pleasant for once,
okay?

I want to see him.

The doctor asked us to wait.

What'd you bring him here for?

Well, it's a good hospital.

[SCOFFS]

Cheap, probably.

HUGH: Dorothy!

Oh, sure, then you can
spend it all on her.

But when it comes
to your own son...

[WHISPERING] Dorothy,
would you please keep your voice down?

Monday, when I have custody,
I'm taking him to a specialist.

DIXIE: The doctor would
like to see you now, please.

No. I never saw it before.

"Chloral hydrate."

What is that?

You ever heard of a
Mickey Finn? Yeah.

That's it. Knock out drops.

Have you any idea, Miss Elsen,
why he'd take it himself?

I never heard of such
a thing. Neither have I.

Well, isn't that stuff just
supposed to make you pass out?

I mean, Eric was almost dying.

Well, he regurgitated
some food and inhaled it.

That can be very dangerous.

He's likely to be sick
for quite awhile.

Tell me,
what was the last thing you had to drink?

Brandy.

Is there any chance that he
might've gotten the glasses mixed up?

I suppose.

You mean he was trying
to knock me out?

That's always a possibility.

When I came back
in with the coffee,

we were up and down
a couple of times.

You know, cream, spoons,
that sort of thing.

I bet that's exactly
what happened.

Sure. He put it in my glass
when I went out for the coffee.

I'm afraid your young
man isn't very bright.

You're telling me?
I really liked that guy.

All right, which one of you
is Harold's mother?

I am.

I remarried. So did she.

Who has custody?

We both do, alternately.

Well, there doesn't seem to be
any problem with Harold's wrist.

These things happen.

But during the examination,
I did find he has a heart problem.

What we call
a ventricular septal defect.

Where did he pick that up?

KELLY: He didn't.
He was born with it.

Not from my side.

It's always somebody
else's fault.

Not somebody else's, yours.

That's not important.
Harold has a serious problem.

Well, I'm bringing in
a specialist on Monday.

I recommend it.

And I'm going to see my lawyer.

And this time,
I'm going after full custody.

We'll see about that.

Why isn't Ken here?
It's always two against one.

All right, will you two stop it?

He's your son. Stop trying to b*at
each other over the head with him.

You're right.

I'm sorry.

So am I.

Well, don't be sorry.
Let's do something about it.

Where's Roy?

CHET: Haven't seen him.

Did he call? No.

Who's taking our place?

Dwyer and Fitzpatrick. They're out on
a run. They should be back any minute.

Oh, well...

Hey, you got a gear there?

Did I get a gear?

Did I get a gear?

This is the only one
west of the Mississippi.

He got this off an abandoned
hearse in Sedalia, Missouri.

Where you been?

Well, first I went
to the machine shop.

Then I went to the airport.

That guy from Oregon. Yeah?

He sent us one air freight.

You've got one?

One? I got three.

[CHUCKLES]

Well, go on, pick one.

[sums]

Pick... Well, what... You...

ROY: Come on! Come on!

I'm right behind you.

You lost. You lost, remember?

Ready? Yeah.

[GRUNTING]

Well, choke it! I'm choking it.

[GRUNTING]

[ENGINE STARTING]

Get it? Got it.

JOHNNY: Watch the top.

[HORN BLARING]

[BELL RINGING]

STANLEY: There they are.
You're looking good!

CHET: Go get them!

Okay!

[BELL RINGING]

[HORN BLARING]

[JOHNNY WHOOPING]

[CAR HONKING]

Can't you go
any faster than this?

I got my foot half way
to the floor right now.

Hey, we don't have a license.

We never got this
rig registered.

No! Are you kidding me?

We could be arrested.

Don't say that.

Oh, man!

Hey! Look at that header.

I don't hear any sirens.

We're gonna be the first, then.

Well, why not?

No. We can't pump?

We don't have any
water in the t*nk.

No.

So,
what are we gonna do when we get there?

Whatever we can.

Right.

MANAGER: Everybody, get out!

Come on!

Get away from the building!

Come on, go! Go!

Come on! Is everybody out
of the second floor?

Where you guys going? Come
back here. Come back here! Get out!

What, are you crazy
or something?

You had to go back
for baseball bats?

DISPATCHER: Station 51,
Engine 36, Engine 19, Truck 8.

Structure fire,

1-1-2-9 North Maple.

The cross street, Cherry.
Time out, 1317.

STANLEY: Engine 51, KMG 365.

[HORN BLARING]

[SIRENS BLARING]

All right, out of the way!

[HORN HONKING]

Did you call the fire
department? Yeah.

Who are you guys? Firemen.

From where? Toonerville?

Is everybody out
of the building?

MANAGER: Yeah.

Hey, we're cut off up here!
We can't get down!

JOHNNY: All right,
just stay right where you are.

We're gonna come up and get you.

WOMAN: Hurry, please!

All right!
Are the stairs blocked?

The place is a blazing
furnace in there.

Keep everybody out of the
front of the building, okay?

I'll take care of it. All right.

[SIRENS BLARING]

You kids,
get down off the stoop.

Get out on the street.

Got it.

Hurry, please!

Got it?

Okay.

ROY: Let's go.

ROY: Hey, we're on the roof!

Stay close by the window,

but not too close,
the fire could leap in at you.

We're on our way down,
all right? So just relax.

Hurry up! It's
getting closer in here!

All right.

Hey! Stay down there! Stay down!

Well, hurry up!

All right,
you all set? All right.

ROY: Let it out. Let it out. Okay,
let it out.

Come on, more slack.

Little more slack. All right.

Okay, let it down.

Okay, more slack!

[COUGHING] ROY: All right,
now, it's a safety line.

I want you to step in here.

[COUGHING]

Here. This'|| keep you safe.

I want you going around here.
Give me your hand.

Johnny, she's coming up!
Take out the slack.

[GRUNTS]

[SIRENS BLARING]

Johnny, they're both coming up!

The last one's not tied off.

Are you all right? Yeah.

Are you all right?

You know,
that was a very dumb move you just made.

You could've k*lled both of you.

You know something?
You're right.

STANLEY: Get an inch
and a half on that.

Cap!

Cap! We got trouble on the
roof up here! We need help fast!

Truck and Engine 51, we got people
on the roof. Ladder on the north side.

Why don't you go over there
and just sit down for a second,

take some deep breaths, okay?

STANLEY: Chet, let's go!

Roy!

Here's the line.

Okay, I got it.

Okay, take up the slack.

[BOTH SIGHING]

Hey, Cap, these two are okay.

They just had minor smoke inhalation,
that's about it.

Take them over to the north side. We
got the ladder truck coming in over there.

[LAUGHING] You guys
look ridiculous.

Hey, I think we still have
time to make that parade.

You think so? Yep.

[CRASHING]

No!

CHET: All the facing fell on it.

Oh, no!

It's a shame.

Oh, man!

Hey! All right. Oh, hey...

Whoa, whoa, whoa, down you go.

Down you go. All right.

Now, I want you
get down from there.

[CHILDREN LAUGHING]

Hey!

[STAMMERING] Roy? That...
Give me my hat. Give me my helmet.

[CHILDREN GIGGLING]

I want you to...
You're gonna get hurt.

You're gonna scratch the engine.

Will you give me my helmet?

I want you... All right.
Everybody down!

You wanna cry, I won't mind.

Too tired.

There's another
six months work out there.

That's too much.

You know, the guy that won first prize,
you know what he had?

Model T, fire chief's car.

He chromed the engine.

He chromed the engine?

That's disgusting!

You know, we could've
walked away with it.

Now, there's another
parade next year.

Yeah, it's...

It's true.

Where do you wanna start?

Does it matter?

Any place. Any place at all.

Well,

we know that we need
a new windshield.

We know that.
