and draw a stripe on it like

I bet that's gonna make it

faster.

I have a really good feeling

Our car looks super fast.

Adding a cup holder didn't

make the car go faster.

What else is different about our

car?

Wait a minute, I notice

something!

Our car is boxy, like this.

And Camilla's car is kind of

shaped like this.

Oh!

I see the difference.

You're right!

We need to change the shape of

our car.

C'mon, let's go back to my yard.

Okay, let's change the shape

of our car.

Are we sure this is going to

work?

Maybe we should think about

other things that move fast,

just to be sure.

[Birds singing]

Birds!

Birds are really fast!

[Birds singing]

Hmm...

Oh, oh, and fish!

Fish are super fast, too!

Wait a second.

Look!

They're all sort of the same

shape.

OLIVE: Camilla's car, the

bird, and the fish - they're all

pointy in the front and round in

the middle.

And they're all fast!

Oh, yes, that's called being

"streamlined."

It means it's easier for the air

to go around you, instead of

pushing you back.

So, things that are streamlined

can move through the air faster,

but boxy things get slowed down.

KIDS: Cool!

Whoa, that is so interesting!

Let's do it!

Let's make the shape of our car

streamlined!

♪ If a car is painted slick ♪

♪ But it's boxy like a brick ♪

♪ Then it just

won't go that quick! ♪

♪ So, with scissors

and some tape ♪

♪ We're gonna change its shape ♪

♪ 'Cause we learned

and now we know... ♪

♪ That pointy shapes

help you go! ♪

♪ Pointy shapes

Now, it's a lot pointier.

It's like a bird car!

[Gasping]

You could call it...

Now, the car you made is just as

fast as mine!

Yep, all because of its

pointy shape, which we learned

from nature.

It's streamlined!

Like a bird or a fish!

OLIVE: That was awesome!

ARI: You were so fast!

I wanna go next!

So cool!

[Laughing]

ELINOR: Woo-hoo!

[All laughing]

So much fun!

C'mon, let's go race!

[Ari trumpeting]

Let's sing a song about

speed.

Who knows what the word "speed"

means?

Speed is how fast or slow

something moves.

I can move fast!

You sure are fast, but you

might want to come back to hear

the song!

♪ Scientist Eiji Nakatsu did

and this is how the story goes ♪

to make it better ♪

the birds outside ♪

♪ He saw the diving

kingfisher bird ♪

♪ Its long and pointy beak ♪

♪ He decided to change

the b*llet train's nose ♪

♪ To be shaped like

a kingfisher beak ♪

♪ He got to choo-choo-choose

the shape of the train ♪

♪ And make the train

better than before ♪

♪ So, he used, used, used

the shape of a bird ♪

♪ And the train went

faster than before ♪

She said we're going to have

Mr. Hamster.

I'm Mr. Hamster.

We thought so.

Well, now that you know who I

am, I'd like to get to know who

you are.

I'm Elinor.

I like to learn all kinds of

things.

I think nature is so

interesting.

I ask a lot of questions.

I don't think you can ask too

many questions.

Well, I think it's very nice

I'm Olive.

I like reading, especially my

nature book.

When you're new like me, it can

be hard to get to know everyone

and remember their names!

That's so interesting!

I've never thought about that.

How can you remember who's who?

Uh, well, umm...

I try to look closely and notice

what makes each of you

different.

For instance, you, Elinor, have

long white ears and like to ask

questions.

And you, Olive, have a lovely

long trunk and like to read your

nature book.

And Ari, you have wings and like

to hang upside down!

[Giggling]

Well, you can ask us if you

need any help remembering the

other kids in the class.

Oh, mm-hmm.

Good morning, everyone.

I'll be your substitute teacher

while Ms. Mole is away.

My name is Mr. Hamster, and I

hope to get to know each of you

by the end of the day.

Hello there.

[Stammering]

Why don't I start with you two?

Hi, I'm Mary.

And I'm Lizzie.

BOTH: And we're the Goat

Twins.

Oh, well!

It's twice as nice to meet you.

They're identical twins.

That means they look exactly the

same.

But even though they're

identical, it's easy to tell

them apart.

Mary always wears a green dress.

And Lizzie always wears a

blue dress.

[Kids gasping]

Not today!

I got my green dress dirty.

So, she had to wear a blue

one.

So, today...

BOTH: We're super-duper

identical!

Hmm...

Oh, dear.

Oh, well...

[Chuckling nervously]

I'm going to do my best to learn

to tell you apart by the end of

the day.

Uh-oh.

Well, class, I have an idea.

I know an activity we can do

with paper and crayon, and when

we're done, you'll notice one

way that everyone is different

from each other.

Okay, done!

Ha!

I drew around you with the

crayon, and the shape looks

exactly like you, Elinor.

And this shape looks exactly

like you.

Very nice, Elinor and Olive.

That's called an outline.

See, everyone can tell who you

are because you're all a

different shape.

Uh-oh.

Is that Mary?

Uh, no, no.

Or is that Lizzie?

[Laughing]

Everybody else might be

different from each other.

BOTH: But we're exactly the

same.

Oh.

[Chuckling nervously]

Oh, no.

Let's help Mr. Hamster.

There must be some way that Mary

and Lizzie are different, so he

can tell them apart.

But they have the same

coloured eyes, the same coloured

hair, the same everything!

They're the same!

So, how do we tell them

apart?

Hmm...

[Gasping]

Look, a butterfly.

Huh!

And there's another one.

Look how colourful they are.

Butterflies are so cool.

Look at that.

They're the same.

They're identical, like the

Goat Twins.

Hmm...

Are they identical?

They're the same colours -

yellow and black.

And they both have spots on

their wings.

Hmm...

I wonder.

Do you have your magnifying

glass, Olive?

Sure do.

Thanks.

Huh!

That's so interesting!

One butterfly has smaller spots

than the other.

Oh...

So, they aren't identical.

No.

They just look identical at

first, until we looked more

closely and noticed that they

were different.

Hmm...

Are you thinking what I'm

thinking?

I don't know.

What are you thinking that I'm

not thinking?

If we want to tell Mary and

Lizzie apart, we have to look

more closely.

Yes, and see if there's some

way they're different.

We need more observations!

They're different!

OLIVE: There!

Yes!

We just started looking closer

and we already found one

difference.

We need more observations!

We looked more closely and we

found three ways the Goat Twins

are different from each other -

their barrettes, their hooves,

and the size of their horns.

We did it!

Celebration dance!

Woop, woop, woop, woop!

I like to dance.

Not me.

I'd rather watch Mary than

dance.

Look at her go!

Mary likes to dance.

And Lizzie doesn't.

That makes four ways you're

different!

I can't wait to tell

Mr. Hamster!

Mr. Hamster, you were right!

Everyone is different!

A-ha!

How did you figure it out?

By observing the Goat Twins.

They look like they're

identical.

But if you look more closely,

you can find differences.

See?

♪ One of these goats

is not like the other ♪

♪ Nobody's exactly the same ♪

♪ You can be a lot like

your sister or brother ♪

♪ But never be

exactly the same ♪

♪ 'Cause everyone's unique

in their own special way ♪

♪ And you have to look close

to see it ♪

♪ Just take a closer peek

at what they do and say ♪

♪ And you'll notice,

I guarantee it! ♪

♪ 'Cause each one of us

is not like the other ♪

♪ Nobody's exactly the same ♪

♪ Nobody's exactly the same! ♪

[All cheering]

wonderful!
